Last week, reports said Spirit Airlines could shut down. Now, President Trump and his Administration could save it through a taxpayer takeover, with the intention of selling it again later once oil prices come down.
Is BANKRUPT SPIRIT AIRLINES really as BAD as EVERYONE says?

This misbegotten president is borrowing at an increasing clip when oil is trading at record prices, when non-gulf oil producers are ramping up production and paying down debt.
Nigeria debt service stands at 106% of national revenue, he is literally taking out debts to service old debts.
Worse he is taking debts from commercial institutions Deutsche Bank, First Abu Dhabi Bank, Citibank at commercial rates not the concessionary interest rates of multilateral institutional lenders.
75% more Nigerians were killed by non-state actors compared to 2024, a record we are on track to blow past. The Kainji Reserve forest is transforming into another terrorist corridor like Sambisa.

Repairing thin plastic with super glue (CA glue) and baking soda works by creating a fast-curing, hard filler/reinforcement: clean the plastic, join pieces with super glue, then sprinkle baking soda onto the seam and add more glue to build up a strong, cement-like bond that hardens instantly, allowing for sanding and shaping once cured. This technique fills gaps and strengthens weak spots, creating a durable repair that's often harder than the original plastic.
These projects are part of the Renewed Hope Agenda, with the Federal Ministry of Works, led by David Umahi.
These are the projects Tinubu initiated and has completed and commissioned in the SE:
1.Oncology Centre, UNTH Nsukka: A world-class Oncology Centre was completed and commissioned at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH) in Enugu State.
2.Artisan Bridge, Enugu: The reconstruction of the five-span Artisan Bridge in Enugu has been completed.
3.Akpoha Bridge, Ebonyi: A new bridge was constructed and completed at Akpoha, Ebonyi State.
4.Palliative Road Works: Numerous, smaller palliative road repairs designed to enhance inter-state mobility have been completed across the region.
5.Port Harcourt-Aba Railway: This railway project was reported as completed, delivered, and in operation.
6.NELFUND is also a project.
7.Free Technical colleges with daily free food and payment of #22,500 to all students monthly.
8.Old Pensioners free medical program.
The bottom line is for the Federal Government and the States to urgently crash the price of food and transportation with CNG fuel so that those folks on the street level can have a breather from the high cost of living.
Second, insecurity from foreign Fula and Tuareg Lakurawa militia bandits from Mali and Niger Republic MUST be urgently dealt with with Drones and Satellite tracking technologies.
Those of us who are highly analytical and educated know that the Nigerian Government has done very well in the area of macroeconomics with the Foreign Exchange being stable for over 1 year and more as listed on Page 1. A vast majority of illeterates, semi-literates and even some literates would NOT easily see these specifics due to a lack of knowledge of macroeconomics because of hunger and reduced income. An urgent need is necessary to bring down the cost of living through the much cheaper CNG fuel for crashing the price of food items and transportation. Period.

That's highly impressive of President 'Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Government all in 3 years!
BUT deploying more CNG infrastructure and CNG fuel which is cheaper than Dangote Petrochemical Refinery's fuel would LOWER the cost of transportation and food inflation. Millions off these hungry Nigerians would immediately vote for President 'Bola Tinubu and the Governor's if CNG is deployed rapidly. Till date, Lagos State has NOT deployed the CNG buses and electric buses Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu promised in 2024 while Kaduna and Enugu States have deployed theirs since 2025. Little gestures like that would make the voters gravitate towards APC. It's NOT rocket science. Building infrastructure like roads are good but NOT enough. Let President 'Bola Tinubu know these FACTS so that he can complete his good works in his second term.
Second, advanced security with the use of surveillance and attack drones with LEO satellite tracking technologies would smash the foreign Fula militia bandits and the Islamist terror groups operating from as far as Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger Republic who are attacking Nigeria in partnership with BH and ISWAP.

I told you, if you see any road that is not in good condition, happily tag the President. He knows what he came for.
That Lagos–Cotonou/Badagry road, it is child’s play for him. And this is even the perfect time to fix it.
Those claiming they are the ones that will save Nigeria are not going to do anything. They don’t even have the kind of time the President is dedicating to fixing roads. They will come and waste eight years and go their way. I know what I’m saying.
This particular President knows what he came for. Stop pitying him on certain things, tag him with confidence and leave the rest. He will fix it.
That road is a priority. It should reflect the prestige of Nigeria so that when people enter, they will nod their head and say, yes, I am in Nigeria.
To those claiming to be messiahs, they dont even have any reasonable achievements, but that is a story for another day. One thing you can take home is that when it’s their turn, they will not even do anything.
However, that is not the point. The point is this: now that President Tinubu is in office, if you see anything that needs fixing and it is not already captured in the plan or budget, tag him immediately and leave the rest.
Because it is when he leaves that people will understand what I’m saying. Not everyone can be like him.
Yes, this administration has its shortcomings, and Nigeria is a lot. But that is not the essence of this post.
The Lagos–Badagry road is small thing for the President. He is doing even more than this. So with confidence, tag him and the relevant authorities. They know what to do.

The Lagos - Sokoto Highway Project is important as it has been in the works since the former President Shehu Shagari Presidency from the early 1980s. That route is a major trade route just like the BIGGEST trade route in Nigeria known as the "LAKAJI" route otherwise refered to as the Lagos, Kano, Jibia (Katsina) route.
However security has to be boosted with advanced weapons to prevent bandit attacks on travellers since the highway passes through Kwara, Kebbi and Sokoto States which have been relentlessly hit by foreign Fula and Tuareg (Lakurawa) militia bandits extorting ransoms from many people and killing others. Many attack and surveillance drones MUST be purchased urgently including the use of LEO satellite tracking technologies. All that is needed is FOCUS from the Federal and State Governments and these highly IRRESPONSIBLE foreign bandits will be defeated. Period.

Based on 2025 reports, New Pacific Airlines stopped flying, and Spirit Airlines faced significant liquidation risks due to rising fuel costs, debt, and a second bankruptcy filing. While Spirit reported a potential bailout to avoid shutting down in early 2026, it was deemed on the brink of closure in 2025. Allplane
New Pacific Airlines: The carrier failed to establish a new business model as a US franchise in the premium market and ran out of runway.
Spirit Airlines: Despite being the eighth largest US airline in 2025, persistent financial instability and failed restructuring made it a primary candidate for closure.
Industry Disruptions: Note that in early 2025, major airlines including Delta faced significant financial hits due to FAA-mandated capacity cuts and federal shutdowns. Allplane

Whoa! I've NEVER seen such massive level of support in recent times for one person like this to be the Governor of Lagos State since the Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) led by Chief Jeremiah Obafemi Awolowo, GCFR, SAN, and his team overwhelming supported the Lagos Island-born, Kwara State indigene (whose parents are from Omu Aran in Kwara State) Alhaji Abdulateef Jakande to be the Lagos State Governor and 1979 alongside his Deputy-Governor Alhaji Jafojo who is an Awori-Yoruba from Lagos State.
Even Jimi Disu who is known to be annoyingly contrarian in his views told Sheriff Quadry just last week that he was in support of Dr. Obafemi Hamzat becoming the Governor of Lagos State just based off of the deep interviews and convos he had with Hamzat whoa PhD holder. Ultimately, it's creative thinking and disruptive innovation that are needed to deliver in Lagos State and other Nigerian States. Application of already existing laws of the land are key.
Landscaping, greening and gentrification of the environmental as proved by the initial success of Babatunde Raji-Fashola should define Obafemi Hamzat's Government if he wins against let's say Doherty.
Incidentally Obafemi Hamzat and Doherty have Ogun State paternal ancestries with Doherty's paternal line being originally from Yewa. Due to the trans-Atlantic slave trade, a significant number of Yoruba folks and even members of royal families fell victim as war captives especially in the early 1800s but returned to Lagos Island among other Yoruba towns after the abolition of the infamous slave trade. That's how Doherty's family who are originally of Yewa ancestry in modern Ogun State came to adopt Lagos Island as home. Obafemi Hamzat's father (who was a Commissioner of Works under Governor Abdulateef Jakande) was an Oba (King) in his Ogun ancestral homeland but he's maternally from Epe in Lagos State so it's ALL good. May the BETTER man win!

Non-Yoruba Groups Closely Related to Yoruba
The following groups, though distinct, share similarities with Yoruba:
Igala – Spoken in Kogi, Anambra, Enugu, and Delta States. Notable dialect: Ogugu.
The Yoruba Influence in the Americas
The transatlantic slave trade played a significant role in the spread of Yoruba culture and language across the Americas. Many enslaved Yoruba individuals carried their traditions, beliefs, and language to the New World, where they significantly shaped the cultural and religious landscapes of various countries.
Yoruba Communities in the Americas
Cuba – The Yoruba-speaking community, known as Lucumi, significantly influenced the practice of Santería.
Brazil – Known as Nago, the Yoruba have had a profound impact on Candomblé and other Afro-Brazilian religious practices.
Jamaica – The Yoruba people in Jamaica are referred to as Nago and Ettu
Haiti – Yoruba customs, particularly those related to the Nago people, are central to Vodou.
Trinidad and Tobago – Known as Yarriba, this community has preserved many Yoruba traditions.
Yoruba cultural influence can also be noticed in Belize, Bahamas, Montserrat, Grenada, Saint Vincent, Saint Lucia, Guyana, Suriname, Puerto Rico, Panama etc.
Historical Yoruba Groups Resulting from the Transatlantic Slave Trade
The transatlantic slave trade led to the emergence of various Yoruba-descended groups in West Africa and the Americas. These communities, often referred to as "Liberated Africans," played a key role in the cultural exchange across the Atlantic.
Gambia – The Aku Marabout community is made up of liberated Africans of Yoruba origin.
Sierra Leone – The Oku community, formed from liberated Africans, has deep roots in Yoruba culture.
Ghana – The Tabom people are descendants of Brazilian slave returnees and maintain strong Yoruba traditions.
Nigeria – The Saro community consists of Sierra Leonean slave returnees and is primarily found in Lagos.
Nigeria – The Aguda people are descendants of Brazilian slave returnees and reside in Lagos, Quidah, and Lomé.
Yoruba Migrants in Africa
Beyond the Americas, the Yoruba people have also migrated within the African continent, establishing communities in several countries:
Ivory Coast – Known as Anago. Ghana – Referred to as Alata. Cameroon, Gabon, and Equatorial Guinea – The Ilaje dialect is spoken in these regions.
Conclusion
The Yoruba people, with their rich cultural heritage, have made significant contributions both within Africa and globally. Through their diverse dialects, historical groups, and diaspora, the Yoruba continue to shape the cultural landscapes of several countries, from West Africa to the Americas. Their influence is ongoing, and their presence in cultural, religious, and social spheres worldwide remains profound.

There's nothing wrong in Jandor speaking briefly in Arabic like Rauf Aregbesola does from time to time as long as he speaks in fluent Yoruba language and English as well to communicate with the wide spectrum of Lagos State indigenes and non-indigenes who are residents of cosmopolitan Lagos State from around the world.
However, I CLEARLY favor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat as the next Governor because he's a technocrat, well-spoken (and Obafemi Hamzat's father was the Commissioner of Works under former Governor Abdulateef Jakande of Lagos State alongside his Deputy-Governor Alhaji Jafojo who were both in office from 1979 to 1984 when those insidious military coup plotters took over power). Hamzat's father who later became an Oba was in charge of the Lagos Metroline project which was later terminated by the then senior Airforce officer and Military Governor of Lagos State Gbolahan Mudashiru as revealed by him in a Concord Magazine that I read in 1986. Gbolahan Mudashiru said he terminated the project with the intention of reawarding it BUT the Ibrahim Babangida-led coup destroyed that plan.
lawani: The important thing is to get a job then you move up from there overtime. Graduates starting off under employed is common all over the world. I think China is doing a better job of feeding itself than the average country though it is not a huge food exporter like Russia etc. They import things like animal feed and etc but a nation must import something. China isn't doing badly
The bolded section of your post is nicely put.
However the Chinese Socialist Government is ALSO notorious for online censorships and hiding the real situations and goings on especially on Mainland China. I saw a recent video where the folks of Hong Kong, China are complaining of lack of social and economic freedom in Hong Kong and are migrating out for better economic reasons. This further justifies why Taiwan wouldn't want to join Mainland China and China would have to forcibly take over Taiwan which the Taiwanese would resist.
lawani: China has the technology to power the whole world with solar energy for twelve hours everyday even without batteries. Just solar panels and inverters. Powering even just China should keep all Chinese busy.
However unemployment should not be a problem in any country because it can be addressed with government policy. It is whatever jobs that is available that should be shared among all
Indeed, the Chinese (with over 1.3 billion people and second to India in global population) are doing well in new technology fields BUT the large population of qualified graduates churned out annually even from post-graduate programs CANNOT get employed due to lack of job openings, so they have to make do with blue collar jobs and small urban farming which they didn't read in the University.
A news report was published here on the NL front page in 2024 or early 2025 where a young Chinese guy couldn't get a job in investment banking so he had to get a job as a waiter. About 20% of Chinese land is devoted to agriculture due to limited space and this is responsible for the Chinese building highrise residential apartment buildings to conserve land space.
An alternative though would be for the Chinese to invest more in vertical farms and aquaponics to grow more crops in small spaces for their huge population which is now second ONLY to India which overtook China in 2023 as the country with the LARGEST population worldwide.
Ebitimi44: Nigerian statistics is obviously questionable but I don't think there is any challenge to the Ijaws on the position as the third largest Ethnicity in Southern Nigeria.
Many people cite not seeing much of Ijaw presence in other cities as a means of arguing that Ijaws are less populated, this assertion however is a complete fallacy as Ijaw is undeniably populous.
I will be backing up my claims with facts and common sense. You will not see Ijaws in major cities becuase of the traditional occupation of the Ijaws which is fishing and in places where we abound it is usually a cluster.
Ijaws are more likely to to be found in coastal areas and as such the Niger Delta interior had always been our native land.
Fact One: Bayelsa state is a predominately Ijaw State is over 2.5 Million while 2006 census puts it at 1.7 million I hope you know that despite the inaccuracy of Nigerian census we also grow.
2. Ijaws constitute the coastal areas of Rivers state which constitutes about 39% of Rivers putting Rivers state at approximately 6 million today that puts Ijaws in Rivers at over 2 million.
3. The Ijaws in Delta State: the population of Delta state shall be running at about another 6 million, let's say the Ijaws Chuns out another 2 million people over there.
This 3 states alone could arguably put Ijaws at about 6.5 million in just 3 states, tell me another tribe in Nigeria apart from Igbo, Hausa, Fulani and Yoruba coming anywhere close to the above verifiable data.
Then add the Ijaws in Edo State, with Ondo, with Lagos, there is no verifiable data in these Areas as these states especially Lagos and Ondo are trying too hard to Yorubanize the Ijaws in these areas.
Should a realistic census be conducted in Nigeria indicating tribes the Ijaws could be well over 17 million.
Why do you think the Ijaws inflate our population, when last did we hold crucial role in the census bureau, Goodluck Jonathan was not the president at 2006 when the last census was held rather it was the Ijaw hating Obasanjo so how could we have manipulated our data, be that as it may, there is also no proof of everyone else's actual population so Ijaws knows exactly how our population is distributed.
Bump.
That post ABOVE is a total fallacy! There are NO indigenous Ijaws in Lagos State. This is how some young and uneducated Ijaw irredentists fabricate FAKE history and population figures while claiming other people's ancestral homelands used as migrant fishing settlements decades later.
The 1891 population census of Lagos (Lagos Island) conducted by the British Colonialists had NO single Ijaws listed. The vast majority of Ijaws living in Lagos are descendants of fishing migrants who migrated after 1914 to modern Lagos State and claim Bayelsa State as their ancestral homeland. Central Ijaw in Bayelsa State is the ancestral roots of all Ijaws who largely descendants of Ghanaian boat people and fishermen who started arriving in the Central Ijaw area a few hundred years back. Other ethnic groups such as Yorubas, Nupes, Hausa, and White folks are listed in that population census of 1891 but no single Ijaw or even Ibos are on the list done by the meticulous British Colonialists.
The Ijaws are migrants from the same Bayelsa area to Ilajeland in Yorubaland whom they settled among in Ondo State and they are NOT originally indigenous to Ondo State. They are just fishing migrants. The Itsekiris, Urhobos, the Edos too are having the same problem of Ijaws claiming the lands of these ethnic groups and they have in a joint press release vowed to resist the creation of a so-called Toru Ebe State from Delta, Edo, and Ondo States. The Ijaws MUST learn to be content with what originally belongs to them and desist from IRRESPONSIBLY creating histories that they NEVER had.

WhizdomXX: It is what it is. We speak igbo but our masquerades resemble igala masquerades. Asaba and Okpanam are bent towards Igbo while Ebu and illah are closer to igala.
It's impressive that you are a REAL Asaba indigene as it's ALWAYS good to get information from the real folks on the ground and NOT impostors claiming to be from Asaba or any other Anioma town when infact they are impostors with secessionist agenda from the East of River Niger. These youngsters being sponsored by Ned Nwoko on YouTube and other online platforms even boldly insulted the current Asagba of Asaba and the Dein of Agbor just because of their resistance to having any future Anioma State located in the S/East due largely to the multiple ancestral and ethnic origins of Anioma people.
Indeed, what you wrote up there with reference to Asaba and Okpanam about your masquerades right up to Ebu and Illah being Igala masquerades called "Egwugwu" which in standard Yoruba language is spelled "Egungun" hence Igala language is classified as a Yoruboid language (about 65% of Igala language is mutually intelligible with Yoruba language and derived from Yoruba language with Igalas having part Yoruba ancestries with other ethnic fusions from the Wukari area, Edo, etc, as clearly stated by the late Attah Michael Ameh Oboni of Igalaland in a Sunday Punch newspaper interview in 2017. The remaining percentage of Igala language is largely of Idoma ethnic origin).
The Attah Michael Ameh Oboni stated that Igala is a fusion of migrants from Wukari who moved along the banks of River Benue centuries back then FUSED with a significant number of Yorubas and Edo folks who they met around the confluence of River Niger and the Idah area. Wukari was founded circa 1598 according to a historical account so we can assume that this migration from Wukari in modern Taraba State to the Idah area is within the last 500 years.
I will get further questions and insights about Asaba people and the centuries of migrations into Asaba later on BUT I appreciate your succinct and intelligent feedback here.
