PoliticsRe: Nigerians Demand Action As FG Unveils 48 Terror Sponsors by AlphaTaikun: 12:47pm On Apr 12
adenigga:
The Federal Government’s release of an updated list of 48 individuals and 12 entities allegedly linked to terrorism financing has triggered fresh public demand for immediate action, with security experts warning that failure to follow through could further erode trust in Nigeria’s counterterrorism efforts.

The list, published on Saturday by the Nigeria Sanctions Committee, is one of the most comprehensive disclosures in recent times, targeting suspected financiers of violent groups operating across the country.

Sunday PUNCH reports that among the prominent names on the list are Finland-based factional leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Simon Ekpa, and the publisher of Desert Herald, Tukur Mamu.

The list also include groups such as Boko Haram, the Islamic State West Africa Province, and IPOB, as well as entities like West and East Africa General Trading, Settings Bureau De Change Ltd, and the Lakurawa Sect.

The development comes at a time the government says it has secured convictions in 386 terrorism cases out of 508 prosecuted, even as attacks continue across several states, including Borno, Kebbi, Kwara, and Zamfara.

The names also published on the NiGSAC website include Abdulsamat Ohida, Mohammed Sani, Abdurrahaman Abdurrahaman, Fatima Ishaq, Yusuf Ghazali, Muhammad Sani, Abubakar Muhammad, and Sallamudeen Hassan.

Others are Adamu Ishaq, Hassana Isah, Abdulkareem Musa, Umar Abdullahi, Abdurrahaman Ado, Bashir Yusuf, Ibrahim Alhassan, Muhammad Isah, Salihu Adamu, Surajo Mohammad, Fannami Bukar, Muhammed Musa, Sahabi Ismail, Mohammed Buba, Adamu Hassan, Hassan Mohammed, Usman Abubakar, Kubara Salawu, Rabiu Suleiman, Godstime Iyare, Francis Mmaduabuchi, John Onwumere, Chikwuka Eze, Edwin Chukwuedo, Chiwendu Owoh, Ginika Orji, Awo Uchechukwu, Mercy Ali, Ohagwu Juliana, Eze Okpoto, Nwaobi Chimezie, and Ogumu Kewe.

Other entities named as terrorism sponsors include G.Side General Enterprises, Desert Exchange Ventures Limited, Eagle Square General Trading Co. Ltd, Alfa Exchange BDC, Alin Yar Yaya General Enterprises, K. Are Nigeria Limited, Suhailah Bashir General Enterprises, Igwe Ka Ala Enterprises, Seficuvi Global Company, Jama’atu Wal-Jihad, Ansarul Sudan, Islamic Province, Yan Group, and Yan Group NLBDG.

In 2024, the Federal Government similarly listed nine individuals and six organisations linked to terror financing, raising concerns over enforcement continuity.

Experts demand swift action

While analysts described the new list as a critical step forward, many insisted that naming suspects without decisive enforcement risks reducing the exercise to a symbolic gesture.

Security experts and retired senior law enforcement officers who spoke with Sunday PUNCH stressed that the next steps must be swift, coordinated, and transparent.

A retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Salami Abduraheem, said the credibility of the government’s action would be measured not by the publication of names but by tangible outcomes.

“Publishing a list is only the beginning. The real test is what happens next: arrests, prosecution, and convictions.

“If these individuals continue to move freely weeks or months after being named, it sends a dangerous signal that the system lacks the capacity or will to act,” he said.

Abduraheem noted that in previous instances, announcements of terror financing networks were not always followed by sustained legal action, raising concerns about enforcement gaps.

Similarly, a former director in a federal security agency, Abdullahi Adeoye, warned that suspects may attempt to evade capture once publicly identified.

“Time is critical in cases like this. Once names are out, suspects are alerted. If there is no immediate action, freezing accounts, restricting movement, and making arrests, you risk losing valuable intelligence,” he said.

Adeoye added that coordinated action involving financial regulators, intelligence agencies, and law enforcement bodies is essential to disrupt networks effectively.

cases, urging the National Assembly to strengthen legal frameworks.

“The kind of judiciary we have right now is not wired to diligently prosecute the kind of criminal activities related to terrorism. This is the time for the National Assembly to provide the necessary tools to ensure adequate punishment,” he said.

Aliyu further stressed the need to balance transparency with due process.

“Justice must be seen to be done for victims, those killed, abducted, or forced to pay ransom. Nigerians must be assured that the fight against terrorism is not selective,” he added.

Public trust, accountability

For many Nigerians, the release of the list represents a rare moment of transparency in the fight against terrorism.

However, civil society groups say transparency must be matched with accountability.

A security governance expert, Shola Muse, expressed scepticism about the government’s commitment.

“It is not about releasing names. What is the judicial value? What is the executive value at the end of the day? If the government is sincere, it must convince the public that they are ready this time to act decisively. Otherwise, it becomes a media jamboree,” he said.

Muse called for synergy among the three arms of government and security agencies.

“There must be judicial support, executive will, and political backing. Without sincere and coordinated efforts, these measures may not achieve the desired results,” he added.

A security governance expert, Kemi Babatunde, said public confidence had been weakened by past experiences.

“Nigerians have seen lists before. What they want now is action, visible, measurable action. This is not just about security; it is about trust,” she said.

Babatunde emphasised the need for clear and consistent communication on progress.

Public reactions

Following the development, many Nigerians took to social media platforms, including Facebook and X, to demand immediate action from security agencies.

A user, Fyneface Dumnamene, wrote, “Go beyond listing and prosecute them if you have facts.”

Another user, Frank Okpara, urged the government to follow up with investigations and summons.

“The FG should proceed with legal action to bring them to justice immediately,” Salawu Enesi added.

A security expert, David Babawale, outlined key steps the government must take to ensure success, including the immediate freezing of financial assets linked to suspects, swift arrest and interrogation of individuals on the list, and strengthened collaboration between intelligence and law enforcement agencies.

“The government needs to ensure the assets of the named individuals are immediately frozen, followed by swift arrests and increased collaboration between security agencies, transparent communication with the public, and fast-tracked prosecution through designated courts,” he wrote.

Babawale noted that these measures are critical to dismantling terror financing networks and preventing further attacks.

Legal framework, prosecution hurdles

Nigeria’s legal framework, particularly the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, provides the basis for prosecuting individuals involved in terror financing.

A Senior Associate at Yusuf O. Ali & Co, Taofiq Olateju, said successful prosecution requires more than intelligence reports.

“You need admissible evidence that can stand in court: financial trails, witness testimony, digital records. These must be properly gathered and presented,” he said.

Olateju also highlighted delays in the judicial process, adding, “In Nigeria, cases can drag on for years. By the time you get to judgment, public interest has waned, and sometimes the evidence chain is compromised.”

Yes, states can do so. Individuals can also do so. But responsibility still lies with the Federal government to envision and fashion models that are practicable.

Just like oil and gas. Anyone can invest in it but at the end of the day they operate under a Federal government that has to lead. I have not seen the Federal government set targets, set framework or standards for states.

I think Rivers state is the only state in Nigeria where there are two distinct distribution grids. Folks there can choose to connect to what they call the 'Federal line' or the other (state), with the 'Federal' line being more qualitative as I understand.

The fact that it is called Federal line and the truth that transmission still bears federal footprint shows that power is till their baby.

Well if Aso Rock has bailed from the National grid that is their business but it doesn't show leadership. Is it encouraging individualism or what. They said they have a program to extend it to all government properties and infrastructure. Is this responsibility. What about those who cannot afford green energy to power their homes and businesses....
Indeed... I truly enjoyed the intellectual and creative convo and insights we both exchanged on this thread. I've been a member of this discussion forum since 2005 (21 years now) with my other older moniker which I still use and It's impressive to come in contact from time to time with deep minds such as yours who give specific and simplified solutions to societal challenges instead of the usual rants and cursings some of these younger posters and secessionist trolls brought to NL from 2013/2014.

Enjoy the rest of your day.
PropertiesRe: Family Drags Late Herbert Wigwe’s 26-year-old Daughter To Court Over Inheritance by AlphaTaikun: 12:26pm On Apr 12
NewsNet:
One year after the painful death of Dr. Herbert Wigwe, the former Group Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings Plc, the battle over his assets has continued to rage.

The scuffle over the Estate of the late banker has seen his family members – father, siblings and cousins locking horns with his children over their rightful inheritance.

October last year, the media reported that the family of Pastor Shyngle Wigwe had veiled interest in the bequest of the late banker’s children and sought to disinherit them through modification of late Herbert Wigwe’s Will, but the family vehemently denied the reports.

Later, a caveat, challenging the late banker’s Will, filed by one Christian Chukwuka Wigwe, who claimed to be a cousin of the deceased, on behalf of the deceased’s father - Pastor Shyngle Wigwe, surfaced online.

The emergence of the caveat filed at the Probate Registry challenging the distribution of the late banker’s Estate as contained in his Will forced the family, especially its patriarch, Pastor Shyngle Wigwe, to retract their earlier denials, which subsequently turned into statements like “we have withdrawn the suit. Our concern was the welfare of the children”.

While the court ruling reported by the media today showed that the family lied about withdrawing the suit challenging the distribution of the late banker’s Estate, joining Miss Otutochi Channel Wigwe, late Herbert Wigwe’s daughter, in a suit involving Uche Wigwe and Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, is really disturbing. Can we really say the Wigwe family is concerned about the welfare of the children?

Miss Otutochi Wigwe is only 26 years old and has just lost her father. Does it ever occur to the family that the children of the late banker are the worst hit by his untimely and painful death? Are Herbert Wigwe’s children safe with the Wigwe family? Has the Wigwe family shown the warmth and responsibility that could endear the children to them?

A 90-year-old man dragging his grand-daughter before a court does not suggest that the children of the deceased will ever find safety within their father’s household. Clearly, there is deep-seated hatred and envy towards the children of the deceased because of what their father bequeathed to them.

Judging by how far Pastor Shyngle Wigwe and his cohort have gone in their quest to disinherit Herbert Wigwe’s children, it is evident that the Wigwe family’s greed is now untamable. The family does not care in sacrificing their own granddaughter in the quest to satisfy their rapacious appetite.

Even though the court has protected the children against the Wigwe family by ruling that Pastor Shyngle Wigwe and Christian Chukwuka Wigwe are “not entitled to seek the reliefs” brought before it, one needs to ask what the real interest of the Wigwe family is in this matter? What have Herbert Wigwe’s children done to their family that is fueling this much hatred towards them?

Why did Emeka Wigwe try to prevent the children from visiting and praying at their father’s graveside at Isiokpo ahead of the first anniversary of his death? A video, which emerged online, showed Emeka Wigwe, their uncle, struggling with officers of the Department of the States Services (DSS) in his bid to prevent the vehicle that conveyed the children from exiting their father’s graveyard.

With these ugly developments, where do Herbert Wigwe’s children find safety? Even though the law already protected the children with its ruling, happenings within the Wigwe family should compel everyone to think deeply about physical, emotional and psychological wellbeing of these children.
PropertiesRe: Herbert Wigwe Had 106 Properties In London — The Londoner by AlphaTaikun: 12:25pm On Apr 12
ogododo:
Late Nigerian banker, Herbert Wigwe, has been linked to the ownership of 106 properties in London, placing him seventh among billionaire real‑estate holders in the British capital, according to a report by The Londoner.

The investigation — titled Revealed: The billionaires who really own London — uncovered some 32,611 overseas‑owned properties across the city after a recent change in UK law required foreign entities to disclose their beneficial owners.

The report found that these disclosures allowed researchers to connect previously hidden owners to prime real estate in London, including several high‑profile streets and commercial locations.

“But now, The Londoner can reveal that some 32,611 properties in London are owned by overseas entities. We can do this because a recent change in the law is forcing these foreign companies to register their real owners.

“We’ve spent the last week, using data compiled and shared with us by Dan Neidle of Tax Policy Associates, to go through thousands of those overseas entities to see who has bought up properties in the capital,” the report stated.

The Londoner report identifies 32,611 London properties owned by overseas entities. These include famous streets like Oxford Street, Canary Wharf and Greenwich Peninsula.

Wigwe, who died in a helicopter crash in the United States in February 2024 along with his wife, son and former NGX Group chairman Abimbola Ogunbanjo, was ranked seventh on the list of billionaires with the most London properties.

Prior to his death, Wigwe served as Group Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings Plc, one of Nigeria’s largest financial institutions.

Since his passing, his family has been involved in litigation over his estate.

The Londoner’s findings show that a significant number of London’s most expensive buildings are owned through companies based in jurisdictions such as Jersey, where ownership details were previously opaque.

The database used by the publication was compiled from newly released disclosures by overseas owners.

The report also identified other wealthy individuals and entities whose property portfolios in London are held through overseas companies, highlighting the scale of foreign investment in the city’s real‑estate market.

Details in the investigation included ownership structures that were not previously publicly available.

Agreed.
But the economic model of this present government is to maximize value for all it's assets. Meaning we Nigerians have to pay for these things at a price the rest of the world pays for them, like we don't own them.

I don't challenge that model. It is a responsible one. A farmer that grows yams should not eat yams at a lower price than he sells to his customers or he and his farm will never grow and develop. It is a mindset thing.

So I say sell gas to Nigerians at international price and let the very, very, very few who can afford it take it. In other climes power does not have a fixed price from location to location. California doesn't have anything to generate electricity so it is expensive there compared to other states having say abundant blue energy.

However since we have also decided to run a unitary state and economy we just have to have a proper energy mix to reduce cost if not we either sink in debts to power companies (as we are presently) or remain in darkness and not develop.

It is incumbent on government to think about and find cheaper energy for the country.
Electricity is GDP and jobs and prosperity. Lack of it or unaffordability is the opposite.
Succinctly stated.

Even the Aso Rock Villa is now entirely off-grid with the use of the cheaper solar energy. These folks know what to do in terms of delivering cheaper renewable energy mix. They just have to have a sense of urgency to bring things to reality.

Based off of the new Power Laws, power generation is NOW off the exclusive list so the 36 states of Nigeria and their Governors have to wake up and deploy all kinds of cheaper power generation stations.

Let me bring back.my former rudimentary take on this, practically speaking. I know folks won't like this but.

If the vision for those novelty highways being constructed that allegedly cost 15 trillion was channeled to solve power, by the end of this regime the country will have been totally transformed.

Let us say 3 trillion has been spent so far (no one knows). That amount will get no less than 7,000 megawatts in raw panel power alone. Double the effective energy output of the gencos presently. This is energy once amortised costs virtually zero naira. Cheap enough for Nigerians to profit with.

Add a couple of trillions more to instal and inject into the national grid you can have an area of 50,000 acres doubling the supply of electricity to the grid in daytime. That size of land is more than available in the far cloudless north of this country and you can surround it with a garrison of soldiers if you fear sabotage.

At night when solar sleeps you can then fall back on Gasco's and hydro to give you the 3,500 or so megawatts as a backup or as battery storage because power consumption at those periods drops drastically.

Is this not worth considering. The kinds of things we should be talking about in this country amongst the people and the experts.
You have strong points there.

However, the highly respected Economist and UN advisor, Prof. Jefferey Sachs did say in a widely circulated video of him giving an extempore speech at the African Union HQ in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia about 5 years ago that in times of economic restructuring and economic downturns, a country has to invest massively in important infrastructure such as roads, energy, education, etc, using long-term loans at single-digit interest rates. He affirmed that once you have these investments such as roads, etc, the investors will come in even WITHOUT being invited.

Abi. We have been telling them since.
Those we praise and worship as leaders have not realized this until they are neck deep in debt.

We continue to say this.
GAS TO ELECTRICITY IS TOO, TOO, TOO EXPENSIVE for a developing country such as ours.

Export your gas to wealthy nations and use the proceeds to invest in cheaper energy sources.

There are hundreds of coal power plants going out of circulation in the Americas, Europe and Asia because of climate change and a new green world. Buy them at a cheap and fire them back up to kick start your own industrial revolution.

If the west harasses you then ask them for grants to set up your own green economy. There are thousand and thousands of acres of unsuitable land all over Nigeria you can turn to solar power parks like the Chinese are doing. They have recently cut export subsidies on solar wares so bring them into to manufacture here.
The above submissions are brilliantly stated!

The Chinese have ALSO invested heavily in electric vehicles and BYD from China sold a record number of electric cars in 2025 alone around the world.

There's also mini-hydro turbines and micro-hydro turbines which other countries use to get power from small streams and rivers or the use of hybrid solar/wind power systems for a seamless day and night renewable energy. The people complaining daily online and offline have for years been too mentally paralyzed and lazy to take the initiatives to cut themselves off from the national grid and go off-grid.

There's biogas from animal and human waste including rural and urban wastes that can generate electricity in urban and rural areas.

A mix of renewable energy is the way to go.

Malaysia doesn't go through the stress other OPEC countries such as Nigeria go through whenever there's a spike in international crude oil prices due to global geopolitical tensions for several decades now because they invested heavily in gas infrastructure by exporting their huge natural gas for FX returns.

Nigeria is largely a gas-rich country. The natural gas reserves and even the bitumen reserves in the bitumen belt stretching from the 4 States of Lagos to Ogun to Ondo to Edo States are far more than Nigeria's entire crude oil reserves or deposits.

[quote author=Ofu.naofu post=139070562]Where is the light? Nigerians knock Adelabu as two weeks’ promise on electricity fails

•Why N3.3trn won’t give you power supply — Experts

…Cite failed promises, disagreement over size of debt

Two weeks after Minister of Power, Mr Adebayo Adelabu, assured citizens of imminent relief from persistent outages, a cross-country check suggests that for many households and businesses, the reality has barely changed.

This came as recent announcement by President Bola Tinubu of the approval of N3.3 trillion for the settlement of outstanding debt in the nation’s power sector has been received with mixed feelings.

While some experts believe the statement in its entirety, others question its authenticity, describing it as a recurring narrative that has become a trend.

Adelabu had, on March 24, while addressing the media in Abuja, publicly apologised for the wave of blackouts that swept across the country, admitting that the situation had worsened living conditions at a time of intense heat.

He acknowledged the strain on homes, schools and industries, attributing the disruption largely to gas supply constraints and technical issues beyond the government’s immediate control.

“I want to apologise to Nigerians… for this temporary issue that is leading to hardship being experienced,” the Minister said, while promising that “two weeks from now, we should start seeing improvements in supply.”

That deadline expired on Friday.

But from Abuja to Lagos, and across several states, many Nigerians say the promised improvement has yet to materialise.

Worsening situation

In Utako, a district in Abuja, residents described a pattern of prolonged outages and brief, inconsistent supply.

Ekwa Mbuk, one of the affected residents, expressed frustration over what he called a worsening situation.

“So why are we at Utako District subjected to darkness for another night? The heat is sickening. This constant power outage is messing up the quality of life of your customers. Do you care? Please give us light,” he said, in a complaint directed at the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company.

He added that the power supply in the area had been erratic, with entire days passing without electricity, followed by only a short period of restoration.

“Since last night, no light… we’ve had only an hour of light. Are we getting what we’re paying for?” he asked.

Classifications

Similar sentiments echoed in Lagos, where Iyke Oscar questioned the rationale behind tariff classifications that promised extended supply.

“Why are we still paying as Band A, if we can’t have light up to 24 hours?” he asked, pointing to the growing disconnect between billing structures and actual service delivery.

Familiar pattern

Across the states, the accounts follow a familiar pattern.

In Delta, Abednego Emonena dismissed the situation bluntly: “Electricity in Nigeria is still a joke.”

In Ondo, Akin Muyiwa said residents in Akure had all but given up on the expectation of stable supply. “We don’t know what’s called electricity,” he remarked.

From Imo, Mary Blossom reported that parts of Owerri had experienced a near-total blackout for weeks. “For the past four weeks, no light,” she said.

In Edo State, Diana Efe described outages stretching into days. “This is the fifth day we haven’t seen electricity since rain fell,” she noted, while another resident, Aino, said communities were left with barely two hours of supply daily.

Elsewhere, the frustration is tinged with resignation. In Ekiti, Mr. Awo Adekunle summed it up: “No light, we just dey pay bill.”

Cynthia in Ogun State pointed to a pattern tied to weather conditions. “Once rain falls, no light for the next 12 hours, sometimes 24 hours,” she said, suggesting that infrastructure fragility continues to worsen outages.

For some, the situation has become almost surreal.

Abolanle Ajirowo wondered aloud whether official assurances referred to a different reality. “Maybe there’s another Nigeria we don’t know about,” she said.

Structural problem

Behind these reactions lies a deeper structural problem. Nigeria’s electricity generation has continued to hover around 4,000 megawatts, far below what is required for a population of over 200 million. Per capita electricity consumption remains between 144 and 165 kilowatt-hours, according to data from the International Energy Agency, placing the country well below the African average of 617 kWh.

The implications are visible in daily life. With grid supply unreliable, households and businesses are forced to rely on alternatives such as generators, inverters and solar systems. These come at significant cost, effectively creating a parallel, self-funded energy system.

Power bank rental

“Electricity remains unreliable, forcing people to depend on generators, inverters, or solar setups,” said Obinna Eze. “So you pay for electricity, even when it’s not consistent.”

In a sign of how deeply the crisis has reshaped everyday economics, new micro-businesses have emerged to fill the gap.

Power bank rentals, for instance, are now available in parts of Kaduna, Sokoto, Kano, Plateau, Niger, Nasarawa, Delta, Edo, Anambra, Imo and Lagos, offering temporary relief for phone charging and small devices at daily or weekly rates.

For now, the Federal Government maintains that improvements are on the way, tied to the repair of critical gas infrastructure and enforcement of supply obligations among producers.

Adelabu had expressed confidence that restored gas flow, particularly from facilities linked to major operators, would stabilise generation.
O
Yet, as the deadline he set passed without clear nationwide improvement, public patience appears to be thinning.

What remains is a familiar cycle of promise and delay, with millions of Nigerians still waiting, often in the dark, for a power sector turnaround that has long been anticipated but remains elusive.

Experts speak on N3.3trillion for power sector

Meanwhile, the announcement by Tinubu of the approval of N3.3 trillion for the settlement of outstanding debt in the power sector has been received with mixed feelings.

While some experts believe the statement in its entirety, others question its authenticity, describing it as a recurring narrative that has become a trend.

Sunday Vanguard findings reveal that prior to the latest declaration by the President, Adelabu, the Minister of Power, had announced the disbursement of the same amount in 2024, while the Debt Management Office (DMO) had already securitised about N4.5 trillion for the settlement of the same power sector debt.

Thus, some analysts view statements from the Presidency as mere sound bites aimed at scoring political points at the expense of Nigerian citizens, their businesses, and the economy at large.

While Nigerians suffer epileptic power supply, an estimated N40 trillion is lost annually due to poor electricity supply.

The Nigerian Independent System Operator, an agency of the Federal Government, had, a couple of weeks ago in a report, stated that persistent outages continue to impose high costs on businesses and households, many of which are forced to generate their own electricity.

According to the report, reliable electricity remains one of Nigeria’s most important economic priorities, stressing that power outages cost the country up to $29 billion annually.

Converted at the prevailing exchange rate of N1,385 to a dollar, this translates to roughly N40.1 trillion in yearly losses to the economy.

The operator added that the burden extends across all sectors, noting that businesses, manufacturers, and households spend billions each year generating their own electricity.

The shortfall in supply has continued to deepen electricity shortages, pushing homes and businesses to rely increasingly on alternative energy sources amid rising operating costs and harsh weather conditions.

The trajectories

Adelabu, on March 29, 2024, was quoted as saying on his Facebook page: “During my recent visit to the Egbin Power Plant, I reiterated that we have conducted a thorough diagnosis of the challenges currently facing our power sector in Nigeria. These challenges range from infrastructure limitations to supply chain constraints, and we are taking urgent action to address them and enhance power supply across the country.

“To this end, the Federal Government is fully committed to implementing proactive measures. Starting in April, we will prioritise the settlement of outstanding debts owed to power plants like Egbin Power. By doing so, our goal is to provide incentives for the continuous operation of these crucial facilities and to enhance their overall efficiency.”

Also, on October 7, 2025, the Minister was quoted as saying, “To stabilise the market, Mr. President has approved a N4 trillion bond to clear verified GenCo and gas supply debts.”

However, the Presidential Power Sector Financial Reforms Programme follows Tinubu’s approval of a N3.3 trillion payment plan to settle legacy debts accumulated between February 2015 and March 2025.

According to a release last Sunday, implementation has begun, with 15 power plants signing settlement agreements totalling N2.3 trillion.

The Federal Government said it had already raised N501 billion to fund these payments.

Of the amount, N223 billion was said to have been disbursed, with further payments underway.

Stakeholders, in the meantime, have questioned whether earlier approvals were effectively implemented or merely political statements, noting that three years down the line, no significant actions have been taken, while records of grid collapses continue to plague the country’s national grid.

Presidency report

A document tagged, ‘A Financial Reset for Nigeria’s Power Sector: The Presidential Financial Reforms Programme (2015-2026) – a chronological overview of efforts to resolve the power sector’s liquidity crisis and transition to a sustainable market-based framework,’ shows the origins of the N4.7 trillion debt, outlining a decade of tariff shortfalls, liquidity constraints, and structural inefficiencies which led to massive outstanding obligations across the power value chain.

It states: “The vicious cycle of liquidity shortfall—unpaid debts to GENCOs leading to arrears for gas suppliers—has constrained generation and rendered the sector non-bankable, culminating in a N4.7 trillion deficit.”

It notes that in 2024–2025, despite the N4.7 trillion claimed by GENCOs, the Federal Executive Council (FEC) established a N4 trillion cap, stating: “The FEC approved a settlement framework with a prudential ceiling of N4 trillion to ensure fiscal discipline.”

However, on its verification and negotiated settlement deal, the report said: “N3.3 trillion: The final negotiated figure, after rigorous verification, reduced the initial N4.7 trillion claim by 30 per cent through the removal of inflated, unsupported, or non-compliant charges.

“The market-based settlement mechanism includes cost-reflective tariffs, accelerated metering, and improved operational efficiency to prevent future debt accumulation.”

GENCOs reality, denial

While some GENCOs expressed confidence in the programme, others argued otherwise, noting that past experiences may have eroded trust in the system.

Speaking on the development and the impact of the N3.3 trillion on the power sector, Executive Director of the Association of Power Generation Companies (APGC), Dr. Joy Ogaji, said: “We only have it on paper.

“Yes, N3.3 trillion is what the government said it has approved, but we do not have details of what it covers or whether it includes the period from 2015 to 2024.

“The news we all have is political. Claims that it is up to date are questionable because reconciliation of invoices from 2015 to March 2025 has not been completed.

“The invoice for March 2025 was not included, and possibly February 2025 was also excluded due to the 45-day billing cycle.”

On solutions, another operator who spoke anonymously said: “Power sector issues need to be categorised.

“Yes, this is a pre-election period, so it is easy for the government to push liquidity solutions for compiled debts.

“But we must not deny that the debt claimed by GENCOs exists.

“All contractual terms, including interest on delayed payments, must be honoured.

“The GENCOs took loans when the exchange rate was about N155 to the dollar, but today it is over N1, 300. Who bears the difference?”

The source also pointed to a lack of transparency in billing and collection systems, calling for reforms and stronger oversight.

Others see things differently

Another source said: “I believe the government is sincere. The money will be paid, and fidelity to contracts is important. Government-imposed haircuts should not become the norm.”

Also reacting, energy economist and Executive Director, Emmanuel Egbigah Foundation, Prof. Wumi Iledare, said: “The power sector is not just underperforming—it is financially strained.

“Over N4 trillion in legacy debt continues to choke the entire value chain.

“What’s worse is that past solutions have been mostly stopgaps, addressing liquidity issues without fixing structural problems.

“At the core are non-cost-reflective tariffs, weak contract enforcement, and poor institutional coordination.

“The result is a cycle of debt recycling, not resolution.”

Electricity becoming a campaign issue – CPPE

For his part, Dr. Muda Yusuf, Chief Executive Officer of the Centre for the Promotion of Private Enterprise (CPPE), said: “This is a pre-election period, and electricity is becoming a campaign issue. The government will likely make strong efforts to fulfill its promises.

“However, unless structural challenges are addressed, the sector may relapse. The key is ensuring the sector generates its own liquidity and attracts capable investors. Tariff reform is inevitable, though it must be gradual to avoid undue hardship.”

A step in the right direction – Independent Power

However, reacting, Managing Director of First Independent Power Limited, Mr. Seyi Sobogun, described the development as a critical step toward restoring stability.

“We welcome the progress made so far. Addressing legacy debts is crucial to improving system performance,” he said.

He noted that the N501 billion bond issuance, which was fully subscribed, reflects growing market confidence.

“We remain committed to working with stakeholders to strengthen the sector and improve electricity supply nationwide,” he added

Science/TechnologyRe: NASA's Artemis II Mission Returns To Earth After 10-Day Journey by AlphaTaikun: 8:39am On Apr 12
KingRex1:
The first astronauts to travel to the Moon in more than half a century are back on Earth after a record-setting mission aboard NASA’s Artemis II test flight.

NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, and Christina Koch, and CSA (Canadian Space Agency) astronaut Jeremy Hansen splashed down at 5:07 p.m. PDT Friday off the coast of San Diego, completing a nearly 10-day journey that took them 252,756 miles from home at their farthest distance from Earth.

“Reid, Victor, Christina, and Jeremy, welcome home, and congratulations on a truly historic achievement. NASA is grateful to President Donald Trump and partners in Congress for providing the mandate and resources that made this mission and the future of Artemis possible,” said NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman. “Artemis II demonstrated extraordinary skill, courage, and dedication as the crew pushed Orion, SLS (Space Launch System), and human exploration farther than ever before. As the first astronauts to fly this rocket and spacecraft, the crew accepted significant risk in service of the knowledge gained and the future we are determined to build. NASA also acknowledges the contributions of the entire NASA workforce, along with our international partners, whose expertise and commitment were essential to this mission’s success. With Artemis II complete, focus now turns confidently toward assembling Artemis III and preparing to return to the lunar surface, build the base, and never give up the Moon again.”

After splashdown in the Pacific Ocean, the astronauts were met by a combined NASA and U.S. military team that assisted them out of the spacecraft in open water and transported them via helicopter to the USS John P. Murtha for initial medical checkouts. The crew members are expected to return to NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston on Saturday, April 11.

During their mission, Wiseman, Glover, Koch, and Hansen flew 694,481 miles in total. Their lunar flyby took them farther than any humans have ever traveled before, surpassing the previous distance record set by Apollo 13 astronauts in 1970.

The first Artemis crew launched on NASA’s SLS rocket at 6:35 p.m. April 1, from Launch Pad 39B at the agency’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. With 8.8 million pounds of thrust at liftoff, the American-built rocket propelled the crew inside the Orion spacecraft to space, delivering it to orbit with pinpoint accuracy after a smooth countdown conducted by the agency’s Artemis launch control team.

During the first day in space, the astronauts and teams on the ground checked out the spacecraft — named Integrity by the crew — to confirm all systems were healthy ahead of the transit to the Moon. NASA also deployed four CubeSats from international partners to Earth orbit.

On the second day of the test flight, with all systems Go, Orion’s service module fired its main engine, placing the astronauts on a trajectory that brought them 4,067 miles above the lunar surface at their closest approach.

“The Artemis II crew is home. The entry, descent, and landing systems performed as designed and the final test was completed as intended. This moment belongs to the thousands of people across fourteen countries who built, tested, and trusted this vehicle. Their work protected four human lives traveling at 25,000 miles per hour and brought them safely back to Earth,” said NASA Associate Administrator Amit Kshatriya. “Artemis II proved the vehicle, the teams, the architecture, and the international partnership that will return humanity to the lunar surface. Reid, Victor, Christina, and Jeremy carried the hopes of this world farther than humans have traveled in more than half a century. Fifty‑three years ago, humanity left the Moon. This time, we returned to stay. The future is ours to win.”

With astronauts aboard for the first time, engineers put Orion through a full in‑flight evaluation. The crew tested the spacecraft’s life support systems, confirming Orion can sustain humans in deep space. During several piloting demonstrations, crew members took manual control of the spacecraft, flying Orion to validate its handling and collect data that will guide future rendezvous and docking operations with human-rated landers during Artemis III and beyond.

The crew completed a series of tests to inform how NASA will fly future missions to the Moon, including evaluations of how the spacecraft operates during crew exercise, emergency equipment and procedures, the Orion crew survival system spacesuits, and other critical spacecraft systems.

Wiseman, Glover, Koch, and Hansen also supported scientific investigations to help NASA prepare astronauts to live and work on the Moon as the agency builds a Moon Base and looks toward Mars. These experiments — including the AVATAR investigation, which studies how human tissue responds to microgravity and the deep space radiation environment, and other human research performance studies — are gathering essential health data for long-duration missions.

During their April 6 lunar flyby, the astronauts captured more than 7,000 images of the lunar surface and a solar eclipse, during which the Moon blocked the Sun from Orion’s vantage point. The imagery includes striking views of earthset and earthrise, impact craters, ancient lava flows, our Milky Way galaxy, and surface fractures and color variations across the lunar terrain.

They documented the topography along the terminator — the boundary between lunar day and night — where low-angle sunlight casts long shadows across the surface, creating illumination conditions similar to those in the South Pole region where astronauts are scheduled to land in 2028. The crew also proposed potential names for two lunar craters and reported meteoroid impact flashes on the night side of the Moon.

Artemis II science will pave the way for future missions to the Moon’s surface by helping advance mission operations and training astronauts to use well-informed judgment to identify areas of high interest for science and exploration.

With the crew safely on Earth, NASA and its partners now will turn attention to preparing for next year’s Artemis III mission, when a new Orion crew will test integrated operations with commercially built Moon landers in low Earth orbit.

As part of a Golden Age of innovation and exploration, NASA will send Artemis astronauts on increasingly challenging missions to explore more of the Moon for scientific discovery, economic benefits, establish an enduring human presence on the lunar surface, and lay the groundwork for sending the first astronauts – American astronauts – to Mars.

CrimeRe: Nigerian Sentenced To Eight Years In Prison For Cocaine Smuggling In Malta by AlphaTaikun: 8:33am On Apr 12
iamfraud:
A 53-year-old Nigerian national has been jailed for eight years after admitting to importing nearly one kilogram of cocaine into Malta in capsule form.

Stanley Anayo Chukwu Chukwukere, who has no fixed address, was convicted after pleading guilty to a series of serious drug offences.

The accused faced four main charges: conspiring with others locally or abroad to import and traffic cocaine importing, or preparing to import, cocaine without authorisation possessing cocaine in circumstances indicating it was not for personal use and supplying or offering to supply the drug to others without a licence

Chukwukere was arrested at Malta International Airport shortly after arriving on a flight from Brussels on 2 July 2025. Police customs officers, and airport officials conducted a joint operation targeting arriving passengers. Chukwukere, who was carrying only a small bag, was flagged for further checks.

While his person and belongings were clear, he later admitted to swallowing the pills while at Mater Dei.

Chukukwere initially pleaded not guilty during his arraignment but buring the sitting held on 23 February 2026, Chukukwere declared that he was guilty of all the charges brought against him.

A joint application between the Attorney General was filed, reaching an agreement on the punishment to be imposed by the court, that of 8 years effective imprisonment and a fine of €15,000.

In view of the guilty plea entered and subsequently confirmed by the accused, court the accused guilty of all the charges brought against him.

With regard to the punishment to be imposed, although the accused did not enter a guilty plea at the earliest stages of these proceedings, he pleaded guilty before the Bill of Indictment was issued against him.

The serious nature of the offences and the circumstances of the case were taken into consideration, including the fact that the accused imported into Malta one hundred capsules containing 981.4 grams of cocaine, with an average purity of 87% and an estimated street value €57,903.

In its reasoning, the court stressed that the punishment must reflect the gravity of organised drug crime, particularly where large quantities are involved.

The court sentenced Chukukwere to eight years effective imprisonment and fined €15,000.

Chukukwere was also required to pay to the Registrar €1,559.39 in expert costs.

The Criminal Court further ordered the forfeiture of his movable and immovable assets and to order the destruction of the drugs unless they are needed in separate proceedings.

Judge Natasha Galea Sciberras presided over the case.

I also posted a correction just a few minutes ago that it was the gallant Ibibio women of Ikot Abasi that started the protests and they were killed by the British Colonialists during the protests and Justice Udoma's mother was the leader of that protest in Ikot Abasi before it even got to Aba.

No Tax If You Are Earning Below ₦800k Annually
https://www.nairaland.com/8591409/no-tax-earning-below-800k/3#137990000

I just need to break this down here because what you don't understand you will keep being misled.

A tax is money the government collects from people, businesses, or things you buy, to pay for public services like roads, schools, hospitals, and electricity.

Many Nigerians think only people with salaries pay tax because income tax (PAYE) is very visible, it comes straight off your paycheck. But in reality, everyone pays indirect taxes whenever they buy goods, fuel, food, use electricity, phone, or travel. The “hypocrisy” comes from the fact that government talks about income tax more because it’s easy to track, while indirect taxes are hidden in prices, so it feels like the poor or informal workers aren’t paying anything when they actually are.

What annoys me is the japa people that go abroad and yap about taxes. They want Nigeria to have the same western style. If you play with taxes abroad, you'll be shown the way out in the next election and you should also understand the white man and why he does things in a way. When you understand their history, you'll know why we are not the same.

Some countries really do not charge personal income tax at all meaning residents don’t file annual income tax returns like in the UK/US and don’t pay tax on their salaries. Examples include United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Bahamas, Cayman Islands, Monaco, Brunei and Vanuatu, among others. These countries still get money for government services through oil, trade, fees, or other taxes, not by taxing individual salaries. Do the maths and tell me one thing in common Nigeria has that some of these countries have. These countries fund government spending through other sources such as oil and gas revenues, corporate taxes, import duties, fees, tourism income or VAT/sales taxes, instead of taxing people’s income directly.

You need to get off this obsession with the west and trying to be like who you are not. This is the miseducation of the average African. Don't forget that in Aba and Ogun State, Women fought the imposition of taxes by the British. Many Nigerians don't even study their history. You should go and read why they didn't want the colonial government collecting taxes from them.

Historically, Western heavy taxation grew partly from scarcity and because they needed money to fund armies, wars, infrastructure, and administrative systems. Land and resources were limited, populations were growing, and scarcity of money made taxes necessary. Scarcity also came from their harsh climates, poor harvests, and limited technology, so the state had to extract more from people to survive and provide basic service, sunlike in some African systems, where wealth was shared communally rather than extracted as formal taxes. When you look at it today, the concept of Black Tax is because in Africa, we share the resources with the rest of us Ubuntu style. Learn why things are the way they are. Today, I see people teaching financial wealth and I laugh when they want us to copy westerners and their form of selfish indiduvual finance.

The Aba Women’s Riot of 1929 happened mainly because of unfair taxes and the extension of colonial authority over women. The British tried to impose direct taxes and give warrant chiefs more control, but market women in Aba protested since they had no voice in government decisions. Tens of thousands of women joined strikes and demonstrations, even attacking colonial offices, to resist being taxed and controlled unfairly. The revolt forced the British to rethink taxation and local administration, making it a turning point in Nigeria’s colonial history and showing the strength of women’s collective action.
Femi Kehinde, author of A Short Stroll Along History Avenue, brings history to life as he revisits the fearless activism of Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti, a woman who redefined resistance in colonial Nigeria. In this interview, he recounts how Funmilayo mobilised the women of Abeokuta to rise against unjust taxation and challenge the colonial power structure. The revolt, a powerful act of defiance, ultimately led to the exile of the Alake of Egbaland.
Through Kehinde’s narration, we see how one woman’s courage reshaped the course of Nigerian history.

The Abeokuta Women’s Revolt: When Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti Rewrote Nigerian History

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TyvTtYrZTAk?

History tends to repeat itself when the people don't learn from their past.

The day Nigerians wake up to know their rights and why the government cannot just squander their money, they will wake up.
The real name of the protest in 1929 is Ikot Abasi Women's protest. The Ibibio women of Ikot Abasi now in Akwa Ibom State led by the former Minister Udoma's grandmother (who eventually was shot dead alongside other women) started the protest against high taxations. However the Ikot Abasi Women have been immortalized due to the FACT that the ORIGINAL protests in that part of Nigeria started from Ibibioland NOT Aba as wrongly claimed by some propaganda history books.

The FALSE use of "Aba women riot" was meant to cover up the murder of those gallant Ibibio women and because Aba is closer to Enugu, the seat of the Colonial Eastern Nigeria Government so the media originally thought the Aba women started the protests.

Tinubu Commissions Major Lagos Projects, Pushes Vision For Modern Infrastructure by cityboylagos: 7:38am
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially unveiled a new wave of major infrastructure projects in Lagos, reinforcing his administration’s focus on modern development, improved mobility, and economic expansion in Nigeria’s commercial capital.

The commissioning ceremony took place at the newly completed administrative complex in Alausa, with Senate President Godswill Akpabio representing the President. Eyes Of Lagos reports,
Key Projects Unveiled

Among the projects inaugurated are:

The Ojota–Opebi Link Bridge
The Lagos State Geographical Information System (LAGIS) Building
The Multi-Agency Administrative Complex

These developments are expected to significantly improve transportation, governance coordination, and land administration in Lagos.

Speaking on behalf of the President, Akpabio described the Ojota–Opebi Link Bridge as a critical solution to Lagos traffic congestion.

He noted that improved connectivity across key routes will not only reduce travel time but also enhance productivity and open up more business opportunities.

According to him, better roads translate directly into economic growth and improved living standards for residents.

The LAGIS Building marks a major step toward digitizing land processes in Lagos. The initiative is designed to improve transparency, strengthen property ownership systems, and attract investors by making land transactions more efficient.

This move signals a broader push toward a data-driven governance structure in the state.

The newly built Multi-Agency Administrative Complex is expected to improve collaboration among government agencies, streamline operations, and enhance public service delivery.

Akpabio emphasized that efficient institutions are essential for national development and long-term growth.

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu described the projects as practical solutions aimed at tackling real challenges faced by residents.

He revealed that the 5.04km Ojota–Opebi corridor will serve as an alternative route, easing pressure on the busy Ikeja–Maryland–Ojota axis and improving connectivity to Ikorodu Road.

The governor also highlighted modern features embedded in the project, including pedestrian walkways, bicycle lanes, solar-powered lighting, and drainage systems designed to combat flooding.

Sanwo-Olu credited Tinubu’s tenure as former Lagos governor for laying the groundwork for many of the state’s ongoing developments, noting that the newly commissioned projects reflect continuity in leadership and vision.

He also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to closing infrastructure gaps, especially with just over a year remaining in office.

The newly unveiled projects are part of a broader strategy to position Lagos as a smarter, more efficient megacity. With improved roads, digital systems, and coordinated governance, the state aims to enhance both economic activity and quality of life.

The commissioning also kicks off a series of project unveilings under the state’s THEMES+ agenda, showcasing progress across multiple sectors.

Foreign AffairsRe: Harrowing Goodbye Messages Leak From Iran As Citizens Were Ordered To The Street by AlphaTaikun: 1:50pm On Apr 08
Godszilla:
Harrowing goodbye messages leak from inside Iran as citizens are ordered 'to bring children to the streets' before Trump announces two-week ceasefire

As the clock ticked toward President Donald Trump's 8pm Eastern deadline for Iran to come to the negotiating table, panic gripped the nation.

Facing the threat of devastating military strikes, terrified civilians told the Daily Mail they were frantically evacuating major cities and saying goodbye to loved ones - even as defiant government leaders deploy a chilling tactic: ordering their own citizens onto the streets as human shields.

The call to gather at infrastructure sites came directly from an Iranian official, captured in an Associated Press video clip.

Speaking in Farsi, he urged 'youth, athletes, artists, students and professors' to assemble at power plants the following day at 2pm local time, arguing that their presence would expose any American strike as a war crime.

The extreme request came after President Trump wrote on Truth Social: 'A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don't want that to happen, but it probably will.'

With the President openly pledging a 'Power Plant Day' and 'Bridge Day' to dismantle Iran's infrastructure, sources in Tehran and Isfahan described scenes of chaos - road blockages, mass evacuations, and state television brazenly instructing citizens to gather around key sites with their children.

'They are announcing on national TV - come to the streets and bring your children,' one source with family inside Iran tells the Daily Mail. 'It's their thing to use people as human shields. Same pattern as in Palestine. They do this instead of surrendering or making a deal.'

He added: 'Government supporters will go. They are barbaric. They believe even if they die - even if their children die for the sake of Islam - they will end up in Heaven. My mom says every night they come onto the streets, chanting death to America, death to Israel. Even until midnight.'

Thankfully Donald Trump announced late on Tuesday night that Iran has agreed to a two-week ceasefire and will re-open the Strait of Hormuz, after Tehran submitted a 10-point peace plan to end the war.

Despite the terror, some anti–regime citizens see a glimmer of hope that the new Ayatollah's grip on the country might finally be loosened, if not shattered.

'At the end of Trump's message, you can clearly see he mentioned that 47 years of death and corruption will end - so that means no more Islamic tyranny,' the source added.

But Trump's ultimatum appears to be explicitly about Iran's blockade and nuclear program, not regime change. His public messaging has framed a successful deal in terms of denuclearization, not necessarily toppling the entire Islamic Republic.

Trump's rhetoric has left many Iranians conflicted. One points to the tension at the heart of his message: 'It's paradoxical - he says a whole civilization will die tonight, but also blesses the great people of Iran.'

Across the country, citizens are bracing for the worst. Supermarket shelves are being stripped bare as people stockpile ahead of threatened rolling blackouts and severed supply chains. One Iranian says he and his family have already stocked up on water and supplies - but fear cuts both ways.

They are very stressed,' the source says, 'but at the same time, if this war ends now, it would literally be a living hell - because the government would retaliate.'

For many, the regime is as frightening a prospect as American airstrikes. The government's crackdown on communications has prompted a wave of digital self-erasure: two Iranians - one in Tehran, one in Isfahan - are already saying their goodbyes and frantically deleting message threads with contacts abroad

.My internet connection keeps cutting out for long periods. If our chat stays on Instagram, it could put me in serious danger - the regime randomly connects people's phones to the internet in the streets and checks their apps. I have to delete our chat. Wishing you a path full of success.'

That was Bahareh's last message. She asked that her surname not be published.

For those with the means, leaving the city is the only option. Major roads are jammed with families fleeing to remote areas, far from the power grids and military installations likely to be in the crosshairs.

One Iranian says his entire family has relocated to his uncle's villa in the countryside. 'They are safer there, it is a pretty calm and peaceful place,' he said, declining to say where.

With hours left until the 8 p.m. deadline, the world is watching to see whether last-minute diplomacy can pull back from the brink - or whether Iran goes dark tonight.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-15713089/Iranians-children-streets-human-shields-Trump.html#
Damn! The same "human shield" tactics used by the Iranian backed Hamas in Gaza.

The use of this same human shield method was highly predictable since the highly insidious Iranian mullahs and Hamas (including Hezbollah and the Yemeni Houthies) are birds of a feather.

PoliticsRe: Nigeria Achieves New Oil Export Milestone With Launch Of Cawthorne Crude by AlphaTaikun: 1:29pm On Apr 08
AnonPoet:
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has marked a major milestone in the country’s oil industry with the successful export of a new crude oil grade, Cawthorne, aimed at enhancing Nigeria’s production capacity and global market presence.

In a statement released by its Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Andy Odeh, NNPC said the development strengthens the nation’s portfolio of exportable crude grades and signals its commitment to boosting competitiveness in the international energy market.

The newly introduced Cawthorne crude, with an API gravity of 36.4, falls within the light, sweet category—comparable to the highly sought-after Bonny Light—making it particularly attractive for petrol and diesel production.

The maiden export shipment of 950,000 barrels was lifted on Sunday, April 5, 2026, aboard the MT Eburones vessel, bound for the Netherlands before reaching broader international markets. The cargo was dispatched via the Cawthorne Floating Storage and Offloading (FSO) vessel, positioned offshore Bonny, Rivers State, enhancing crude evacuation from OML 18 and boosting Nigeria’s operational efficiency and energy security.

According to NNPC, the launch of Cawthorne aligns with the company’s strategy to maximise value from its assets and support the Presidential goal of raising crude production to three million barrels per day and gas output to 12 billion cubic feet per day by 2030. The new blend builds on previous additions such as Nembe and Utapate, reflecting a structured approach to optimising production and expanding Nigeria’s crude offerings.

Commenting on the milestone, NNPC Group Chief Executive Officer Bashir Bayo Ojulari praised the reforms introduced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, attributing the achievement to government policy, effective stakeholder collaboration, and innovative operational strategies.

“This milestone reflects our commitment to execution, partnership, and value creation. We are moving decisively from resource potential to resource monetisation, ensuring every asset delivers measurable commercial outcomes,” Ojulari stated.

Hamideh Soleimani Afshar, 47, and her daughter Sarinasadat Hosseiny, 25, were detained by ICE on Friday while living in the City of Angels.

Afshar had celebrated the deaths of US soldiers during President Donald Trump's ongoing war with Iran, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said.

Rubio added that the permanent resident status that allowed them to live indefinitely in the United States was revoked and that they will be deported at the first available opportunity.

He wrote: 'Until recently, Hamideh Soleimani Afshar and her daughter were green card holders living lavishly in the United States.

'Afshar is the niece of deceased Iranian Major General Qasem Soleimani. She is also an outspoken supporter of the Iranian regime who celebrated attacks on Americans and referred to our country as the "Great Satan."

'This week, I terminated both Afshar and her daughter's legal status and they are now in ICE custody, pending removal from the United States.

'The Trump Administration will not allow our country to become a home for foreign nationals who support anti-American terrorist regimes.'
