An 18-hole golf course and other facilities. That's impressive.
OLAADEGBU: Glamorous Iranian woman living high life in Los Angeles is arrested for 'trafficking deadly drones and bombs for Tehran'
A glamorous Iranian woman living a lavish life in Los Angeles was arrested for allegedly trafficking deadly drones and bombs for Tehran.
Shamim Mafi, 44, was taken into custody at Los Angeles International Airport on Saturday night and charged with allegedly brokering the sale of drones, bombs, bomb fuses, and millions of rounds of ammunition to be sold to Sudan, the US Attorney for the Central District of California said on Sunday.
Mafi left Iran in 2013 and became a permanent US resident in 2016 under the Obama administration, officials stated.
The Woodland Hills resident allegedly used Atlas International Business, an Oman-registered company, to broker weapons deals as recently as 2025, according to court records obtained by the New York Post.
One of her sales included a contract for more than $70 million for Mohajer-6 armed drones made by Iran's Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics.
Those drones and 55,000 bomb fuses were transferred in deals with the Sudanese Ministry of Defense, which has been fighting in a violent civil war since 2023.
According to phone records included in court documents, Mafi had direct contact with Iran's Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS) between December 2022 and June 2025.
During her time in America, Mafi has shared pictures of her living the high life, including an image of her posing in a $100,000 Mercedes-Benz.
She told investigators that she has never been hired by Iran to conduct any activities for Tehran on American soil.
Meanwhile, prosecutors said Mafi had no legal clearance to oversee the alleged dangerous weapon sales.
A previous investigation revealed that Tehran seized properties that Mafi inherited from her father in 2020, according to court records.
The Ministry of Intelligence then told her to open a business in the US to buy the properties back from the Iranian government, court records stated.
According to prosecutors, Iran also offered to pay for her start-up costs.
Oyetola, in a statement by his Special Adviser, Bolaji Akinola, highlighted ongoing efforts to build manpower, disclosing that 2,459 Nigerians have been sponsored under the Nigerian Seafarers Development Programme (NSDP) for training in maritime institutions across countries, including the United Kingdom, Egypt, the Philippines, India, and Romania.
He added that 1,088 beneficiaries had obtained their Certificates of Competency.
The minister also pointed to opportunities in fisheries and aquaculture, stating that Nigeria’s annual fish demand of 3.6 million metric tonnes presents significant potential for food security and employment.
Oyetola further outlined key government initiatives, including the planned disbursement of the Cabotage Vessel Financing Fund (CVFF), expected to boost indigenous shipping capacity and create up to 30,000 jobs.
He said ongoing port modernisation projects were projected to “generate up to 20,000 jobs for our teeming youths, while significantly improving port efficiency, reducing turnaround time, and enhancing Nigeria’s competitiveness as a maritime hub in West and Central Africa”
lawani: In our town of Ere Ijesa, the first settler was Nupe, the second is Oyo then others from Igbajo, Ilare, Ijero and etc and all are now Ijesa. In Ilesa itself there are prominent families with title originally from different places. That is how communities are formed all over the world. There is no city you will go to that is not like that and the indigenes of such cities can not be claiming to be of different ethnic origins. However someone that still have family in another place can go and claim that other place. The town Fulani have become essentially Hausa and it is only the cattle type that is still different. Even if the Fulani elite say they are not Hausa, can they say Kano is not Hausa land? To avoid the confusion is why they call themselves Hausa Fulani. If no jihad, no indigene of Kano will be identifying as non Hausa and despite the jihad, it is still not right to refer to Kano as multiethnic but every situation is peculiar though
I can see where you are headed. The history of the first settler in Ere Ijesa being a Tapa is interesting and isn't totally strange though as the Nupes and Baribas (especially in the Kwara State axis) were conquered and colonised or merged into the militarily powerful Oyo Empire centuries back and they paid tributes to Oyo just like Dahomey and others who were conquered and merged into the Oyo Empire. So, the colonized folks moved around the Oyo Empire.
Sango's mother too was a Tapa as well.
The Tapa descendants of Oshodi Tapa still exist in Isale Eko today and (he claimed he was from a Nupe royal family but was captured by the Fula slave traders during the so-called jihad of the early 1800s) got marched from his Nupe homeland to Isale Eko (Lagos Island). When he was about to be put on board a slave ship heading out for the Americas from Lagos Island when he suddenly ran off into a shrine. IFA divination was then consulted to know his fate and IFA gave final instructions that the young boy should be set free. This is how the young Oshodi Tapa became a butler (or Oshodi in Yoruba) for the royal family.
In 1851, when some British Royal Navy ships sailed from Fernando Po to militarily STOP the festering slave trade by the then Eleko of Eko, Oba Kosoko, Oshodi Tapa was present with him as one of his lieutenants and when the British Navy ships laid a seige to Isale Eko (Lagos Island) and began to bombard the Island from the Lagos lagoon, the Kosoko team fiercely resisted and fired back but had to escape days later to Epe on exile. Hence the Ijebu Epe and Eko Epe presence in Epe, Lagos State.
So, yes, the Yorubanized Tapa descendants of Balogun Oshodi Tapa still have their family quarters in Isale Eko till date.
lawani: Let the people themselves say they are not Hausa. No Kanawa ought to be saying they are not Hausa including the Fulani. It is just like a Yoruba man saying he is not Yoruba because his great great great grandfather came from Mali or Senegal. If they have no home but Kano then they are Hausa.
I know a lot about the old and (new Kano States) which I personally have had contact with right from the 1970s (with a lot of friends of mine made from that same state back in Nigeria who are now captains of industry and top political power brokers today).
Second, that's why I used the term "descent." Agalawa (Tuareg descent), Kanuri descent, Nupe descent, Jukun descent, Fulani descent via Futa Toro in Senegal and Mauritania etc. Every family in Kano knows the ORIGINAL homelands they came from and this is an open secret among "Kanawas."
There are millions of indigenous Hausa folks and they do NOT consider these settlers of other ethnic origins as part of them and there are several videos online made and posted by Hausawas dissociating themselves from the Fulas and condemning the unintelligent term "Hausa-Fulani" which was FIRST used back in the late 1950s by a British media outfit. Even pure Fulas have rejected that annoying term "Hausa-Fulani." You are either Hausa or Fulani. These settlers too do NOT see themselves as ethnically Hausas. Just because they can speak Hausa language doesn't mean they are Hausa.
Last BUT NOT least, based on your example, I do NOT consider anyone who claims to be Yoruba and whose direct ancestry goes back to Senegal or Mali to be a Yoruba. They know their paternal lineages and should claim that because Nigerian and Yoruba cultures are strongly patriarchal (with the exception of the Ijaws who are matriarchal further affirming their largely Ghananian migratory roots as boat people) as claimed by Senator Magnus Abbey whose Ogoni ethnic people are partly of mixed Ghananian and Ibibio roots as claimed by the paramount Ogoni traditional ruler. Period.
Desecration of Jesus and Mary Statues in the southern Lebanese village of Sarada, journalists reported that a church used by Israeli forces was found in a state of desecration.
Discoveries included:
1 - A statue of Jesus with its head cut off 2 - A statue of the Virgin Mary with its face cut off and a figure of baby Jesus with an arm removed. 3 - Evidence that the damage was intentional and not caused by combat.
lawani: They have leaders that guide them and they are the most progressive voters in the country. If they had revenue of their own like Lagos they would have been the best state in the country
@lawani
Absolutely well said.
They have the population to do what you stated so they have to upskill their youths in the STEM fields as well. Agribusiness in Kano State will do well if more hybrid seedlings and tractors are used alongside the massive irrigation projects they have for all-year farming. Fortunately they have been getting funds from Islamic Banking institutions (with interest-free banking) to carry out a lot of projects for years now.
The current issue with the indigenous Hausa States of the North West though is that there's a sharp rise in Hausa nationalism to get the Fula political domination out of the way due to foreign Fula militia bandits attacks on Hausaland.
Ganduje, Kwankwaso, etc, are both of the minority Fulas (paternally and maternally) with Kwankwaso's late father being the "Sarkin Fulani of Kwankwaso village."
Former Governor Ibrahim Shekarau is originally of Borno State parentage from the "Bura ethnic group" (just like General Buratai who is also of the Bura ethnic group of Borno State) who migrated to Kano State and settled there.
Kano State is a place where folks who are originally NOT Hausas have been Governors though. Former Governor of Kano, Alhaji Bakinzuwo was of Nupe descent, the Yakasai family are originally of Jukun descent in Taraba, Sani Abacha is originally a Kanuri from Borno, the Forbes-listed USD billionaire Abdulsamad Isiaku-Rabiu is originally of Kanuri in Borno State descent BUT it was his grandfather (an Islamic scholar who migrated to Kano for further Quaranic studies), and his biological son (the famous multimillionaire businessman Alhaji Isiaku Rabiu was born there). Aliko Dangote himself is of Agalawa descent especially on his maternal side via the Dantata family (Agalawas are the Tuareg long-distance merchants of the 1700s and 1800s) from Niger Republic.
seunmsg: Kano will be the most hotly contested state as far as the presidential election is concerned in 2027. Kwakwanso was the star man of Kano in 2023. Sadly for him, he has lost a huge ground to the APC. The fact that he won’t even be at the top of any ballot in 2027 makes the state more open and competitive.
With Ganduje, Abba Yusuf, Barau Jibrin and now Shekarau all on Tinubu’s side, we may see the biggest upset in Kano next year.
Kano State voters have minds of their own though and largely do not act like lemmings. They vote for whoever they think will better their lots.
If the cost of living can drop further before elections (with the widespread use of CNG fuel and deployment of CNG infrastructure in all the regions of Nigeria in order to crash the cost of transportation and food), then, the man on the street level will gladly vote for the APC at the Federal and State government levels.

This certainly must have been caused by some highly inebriated students. Stampedes due to a lack of crowd control at parties with a lot of gatecrashers worldwide have been very fatal.
EmmyMaestro: Ghanaian arrested for allegedly stealing police armoured Vehicle
A man identified as Ebenezer Frimpong has been arrested for allegedly stealing an armoured vehicle belonging to the Ghana Police Service in Nkawie Market, located in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.
According to Zagazola Makama, the incident occurred when the driver of the police armoured vehicle briefly stepped away, leaving the engine running in the busy market area.
Frimpong was said to have taken advantage of the situation, entered the vehicle, and drove off, prompting an immediate response from security operatives.
Law enforcement officers launched a coordinated pursuit after receiving reports of the theft, tracking the suspect along the Nkawie–Mim route.
He was eventually intercepted and arrested near Mim following what authorities described as a swift and coordinated operation.
“The suspect was apprehended without further incident, and the vehicle was recovered intact,” a security source said.
Authorities confirmed that the armoured vehicle was retrieved without damage and has since been returned to police custody.
Frimpong remains in custody as investigations continue to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
Stepping away right in public from that Ghana Police armored vehicle with the engine still running was careless of the Police driver. This is a further affirmation that you should never trust nobody.
Lovelink1991: A bread seller has discovered a different kind of bread that does not decay or spoil after 2 months and it is in circulation now. Something is wrong.
Context: A TikTok user went viral after showing that a loaf of Bon Bread bought two months prior still looked and felt fresh, raising concerns about high preservative usage (such as Calcium Propionate).
Controversy: The manufacturer, Bon Bread, reportedly initiated legal action against the consumer regarding the video.
Other Mentions: Similar claims regarding long shelf life have historically been associated with Yale Bread, with consumers noting it can stay for months without developing mold, often attributed to heavy sealing and preservatives.
Important Safety Note: Typical, preservative-free bread should spoil within a few days. Bread that remains fresh for months suggests the use of high levels of artificial preservatives or intense heat sealing, which has sparked, at that time, significant, widespread, and ongoing debates in Nigeria about food safety. In the book "48 Laws of Power", I read where it was stated that if 2 or more are scrambling for power, the one that gets it would use his power to crush the competitors to establish himself and confirm his dominance.
Meaning that, Atiku , Ameachi, kwakwaso they all know that whoever gets it will betray the losers and will never follow whatever agreement they had. He will rather be surrounded by new set of people and push aside his former competitors.
That's how it works.
You think if Atiku wins he will not crush the influence of kwakwaso in Kano? If Atiku wins, you think Obi, even if made a VP, would have much say on the south east people that would form govt with him?
Atiku will rather go for his old allies in PDP and SDP then. Crush your competitors, crush your opponents, crush everyone that competed with you.
Melezenawii: If Atiku is saying the only qualification he has to become president is that he's from North. Well and good. That means on the election day, the North should vote for him, and the South shouldn't.
- Rotimi Amaechi
If Atiku is saying the only qualification he has to become president is that he's from North. Well and good. That means on the election day, the North should vote for him, and the South shouldn't.

God1000: Sandra Eunice Idoko, an indigene of Otunche-Anchim in Oju Local Government Area of Benue State, has emerged as the best graduating student at the Nigerian Law School Bar Finals. She clinched a First Class, further cementing her reputation as one of the state’s brightest legal minds.
A brilliant law graduate from Benue State, Sandra Eunice Idoko, has brought pride to her community and the state after emerging as the best graduating student at the Nigerian Law School Bar Finals.
Idoko, who hails from Otunche-Anchim in Oju Local Government Area, achieved a First Class (LL.B, B.L), marking a significant milestone in her academic journey.
Before proceeding to the Nigerian Law School, she had earlier distinguished herself at Benue State University, now known as Fr. Adasu University where she graduated top of her class from the Faculty of Law about two years ago.
Her academic excellence dates back to her undergraduate years, where she reportedly maintained a perfect 5.0 Grade Point Average throughout her studies, emerging as the best-performing student in her class.
In 2023, Idoko also gained national recognition after emerging as the National Debate Champion at the Amnesty International Intervarsity Debate Championship. She led her institution to victory against top universities, including the University of Ibadan and the University of Benin.
Her latest achievement at the Nigerian Law School further reinforces her track record of excellence and intellectual distinction.
Colleagues and well-wishers have since congratulated her, describing her success as well-deserved and inspirational, particularly to young people across Benue State and beyond.
That's a highly impressive Nigerian Law School Bar Finals feat from her. She's photogenic as well.
Second, the name Idoko is majorly used by folks of Igala ethnicity? How come she's being ascribed in the FB post here as being from the Igede ethnic group?

How is expressing personal opinion as fact freedom of speech especially for someone that's supposed to be neutral. It's like me inviting you to my program and accusing you of being a convicted criminal even when you've never been found quilty by a court of law. Is that also freedom of speech?
Its like saying slander is freedom of speech, doesn't work that way. Always be ready to take responsibility for your utterances especially when they are not backed with facts or evidences. Social media has made many people too comfortable with committing slander and everyone now sees it as normal.
The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) says broadcast presenters who express personal opinions as facts or bully guests on air will face sanctions.
In a statement on Friday, the commission said it has observed a rise in violations of the sixth edition of the Nigeria Broadcasting Code across news, current affairs and political programmes.
“The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has identified a sustained increase in breaches of the 6th Edition of the Nigeria Broadcasting Code across News, Current Affairs, and Political Programmes,” the statement reads.
“Broadcast platforms are increasingly being deployed in ways that depart from their core obligation to inform the public with accuracy, balance, and professionalism.”
The NBC said some anchors and presenters now deviate from professional standards by denying fair hearing to opposing views and compromising neutrality during broadcasts.
The commission warned that such conduct contravenes provisions of the code, which require presenters to remain impartial and ensure all sides to issues of public interest are fairly represented.
“Henceforth, any anchor or presenter found to have expressed personal opinion as fact, bullied or intimidated a guest, denied fair hearing to opposing views, or otherwise compromised neutrality, shall be deemed to have committed a Class B breach,” NBC said.
The NBC also raised concerns over the increasing use of broadcast platforms by political actors to air divisive, inflammatory and unsubstantiated content.
It reiterated that broadcasters bear full editorial responsibility for all content aired, including during live programmes, adding that such responsibility cannot be transferred to guests.
The NBC said it will enforce strict compliance with the broadcasting code, warning that breaches relating to hate speech, incitement and lack of balance will attract sanctions.
The commission urged broadcasters to uphold professionalism, fairness and accuracy, adding that as Nigeria enters a critical electoral period, the airwaves must not be used to propagate misinformation.
That's a good development. The NBC MUST take action now and there's massive evidence of the misuse of media outlets such as Nigeriainfo 99.3.
A lot of those highly IRRESPONSIBLE OAPs of NigeriaInfo 99.3 V/Island (both male and female OAPs) deliberately and daily express sarcastic personal opinions as FACTS and allow callers to use highly inciting words on air thereby violating NBC rules that have existed for years.
Marian, Joyce, Kofi and Jimi, etc, are particularly notorious for sometimes using incendiary language on air targeted towards insulting those in government without offering constructive criticisms. These so-called On-Air personalities repeated spread disinformation online without even bothering to apologize when they are discovered to have lied or misled their listeners from around the world. That narcissist called Marian gleefully played an old voice note of the former President Olusegun Obasanjo early last week on her segment (which is known for presenting largely negative stories when there are tons of positive stories everyday) and WITHOUT due diligence, deliberately misled people by saying OBJ was criticizing the current Nigerian President and two callers corrected her BUT she quickly glossed over it in order to cause damage to the image of the Nigerian President.
Such highly unprofessional and incendiary actions taken by these above named media staff will NOT be tolerated. Real professionals too MUST be brought in to educate Nigerians because a lot of semi-literate phone-in callers have NO business phoning into Nigeriainfo 99.3 (or other media outlets) to give their personal opinions on advanced issues they know nothing about especially on the dynamics of the economy, finance, security, etc.
Eggplant farming is often overlooked, yet it’s one of the most in-demand vegetables in Nigerian markets today. In this video, I take you inside an eggplant farm in Ibadan, where I sat down with the farm owner for an honest, on-the-field conversation about what it truly takes to cultivate eggplant successfully.
We didn’t just walk through the farm — we discussed the real challenges, from pest pressure and weather issues to labour, market access, and day-to-day farm management. The farmer also shared practical insights on planting, maintenance, harvesting, and why many people struggle with eggplant farming despite its high demand.
This is not a classroom explanation or online theory. It’s real experience from the field, shared directly by someone actively doing the work. If you’re considering vegetable farming, already growing eggplant, or simply want to understand how this crop performs in real Nigerian conditions, this video will give you clarity.
Watch till the end for valuable lessons, honest truths, and insights you won’t usually hear online.

Light1000: More than one in three young men in the UK were living with their parents in 2025, up from 26% in 2000, according to data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
The increase is being driven by high renting costs and rising house prices, recent studies suggest.
The data shows 35% of young men aged 20-35 were living with their parents - more than young women (22%), although the rate in both groups has been increasing.
In separate research, the statistics body found the rising cost of living was the most important issue facing adults, above the NHS and the economy in general.

He says he cooks chillis and stews to take to work, avoids impulse purchases and tries to keep spending on a night out below £20.
