The popular story is that the Abachas are NOT Kanuris from Niger Republic but from the Chadian extension of Kanuriland which straddles the Nigerian border with Chad. That late and highly corrupt military dictator was a Kanuri and Kanuris straddle both sides of Nigeria (Borno and Yobe) and Chad as indigenous people. It's just like the existence of indigenous Yorubas of Nigeria, Benin Republic and Togo for instance or Hausas of Nigeria and Niger Republic.

CelebritiesRe: I Never Wanted Regina To Marry Ned Nwoko — Rita Daniels by AlphaTaikun: 10:55pm On Oct 22, 2025
AbosedeFalade:
Rita Daniels, mother of Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, has spoken about her daughter’s marriage to politician and businessman, Senator Ned Nwoko, saying she never supported it from the beginning.

The clarification surfaced online amid renewed public attention after a viral video showed Regina accusing her husband of domestic violence.

In response, Tribune Online reports that Nwoko denied the allegations, insisting that Regina’s struggles stem from drug and alcohol use. He also noted that none of his five other wives had ever accused him of abuse.

Earlier, speaking with BBC News Igbo in an interview recorded on October 3, Rita addressed long-standing claims that she arranged or “sold” her daughter into the marriage. She denied the reports, saying she was the last person to know about their relationship.

“When Regina got married, and the world was saying I was the one who forced her to marry a much older man. They said I carried her and sold her to an elderly man,” she said.

“What they did not know is that even I did not know when they started the relationship. With everything that was going on, I was the last person to know they were in a relationship.

“And as my daughter, I called her and asked what was going on, and what she answered me ‘Have I ever introduced you to anyone as the person I want to get married to aside from Ned Nwoko?’”

“My daughter, who never used to throw back words at me, started throwing back words. I noticed she was beginning to get stubborn about it, and then I was like, ‘What is actually going on?’ In the political terrain, the husband and I are opponents.”

Rita said Nwoko did not approach her about marriage until after his political campaign. Faced with her daughter’s determination, she said she had little choice but to stand by her.

“Immediately after the election, it was then that her husband told me he was interested in marrying my child. I was weak, but what was I to do? I stood with my daughter, was I to chase her away?” she said.

“So when I saw everything, I advised as much as I could as a mother. That they are talking all sorts of trash about Regina, the most important thing is that she is happy where she is, and I have not had the energy to address anyone regarding anything.”

Rita also said she preferred to take public criticism rather than let people blame her daughter.

“Do I leave them to heap blame on my daughter?” she asked. “So it is better for me that they heap the blame on me, tear me apart, and call me all sorts of names. I will rather take it. What matters to me is that my family is at peace.

If we go there, the result is eventual anarchy.

Nigeria is far too broke and far too poor for any secession to work successfully. The only place where breakup worked was former Czechoslovaka...and both countries had something Nigeria doesn't have...strong industries, and access to europe's decent markets and transport.

Break up nigeria, and there would be anarchic tribal warfare. Because what we would get would be four or more poor, resource starved, and in some instances landlocked countries...that will fight each other for resources. And big tribes will eat small tribes.

Plus, it is funny that calls for secession comes when the side you support is on the losing side...lol.

Nigeria is a contrapition that has been ruled by bad leaders, yes, but the alternative is far far worse.

Plus, IMF will share the debt we have, so forget it.

(Plus many of you don't know what an ethnic nationality is...is it the 250 tribes we have? Some of you will come and say they are not really tribes)

Go and vote for leaders who will stop sharing money, and start being productive. Maybe when every part of this country is productive, we can talk of secession (by productive, I don't mean exporting cocoa, cotton, and groundnut, and so forth....I mean economy based on indistries, and innovation, and exporting manufactured goods and services).

I no say tinubu is good, or gej and obi are bad, or all our leaders are saints. We are where we are because we decided not to be an industrial economy, but a resource dependent economy. It's why we had the civil war really.

I know most Nigerians want a coup. Things are hard.

But a coup would not change anything. No matter what we want.

For starters, oil money is still a large chunk of our budget and oil prices are low. So any army government coming in is still going to face issues with low government revenue. And the resultant poverty. So expecting change is not going to make things better

Second, military rule is harsh. It's because army rule ended before the internet blossomed here that most of you don't know the harsh censorship of speech and freedoms that army rule involves. Like now, buhari shut Twitter down. Army rule would go further than that. They can shut this site down and arrest the owner and you can do nothing.

And you think army rule would be nice to people like mmk? Or even your local dissident? Maybe they would be even harsher on boko and militants, but they go be harsh on your secessionist leaders and so forth. Nothing like Biafra or death under army rule

I guarantee that you will cry for democracy within 5 years

Note that it does not mean that tinubu is good o. But army rule will make him look good.

Remember we went through this many times.

If you want better leadership, make we all join or form a party and work for change from within. Army would do a bad job of changing this country
True that.

Are you saying that the civilians sponsoring the coup are hungry or they merely want to hijack power through the back door?

The Government security agencies are too slow. Since Obedients were clamouring for coup last year, the Government should have clamped down on them both online and offline. I knew some politicians would like to take advantage of the inexperienced obedient yoot and their quest for regime change at all cost. Now the DSS should do the needful and protect Nigeria. Maybe it's time the SW people commence their disengagement from this shit called a nation because it's now obvious that anytime the North is out of power they must try to hijack through coups. I don't know how obidients think that a military Government formed by fulanis will ever favor them. It's obvious that banditry and terrorism will explode 100 times because of the backing of their people in Government. I don't know why people would wish the worst for themselves because of their hatred for Tinubu.
Well said.

You are clearly one of the discerning folks who have been thinking along my line of thought over the years. This Nigerian President 'Bola Tinubu is being annoyingly naive by playing the "Mr. Nice Guy" or "democrat." How can you as a President with 'Femi Gbaja as his Chief-of-Staff including the intelligence agencies ignore all that hate speech and open calls for a coup in Nigeria by some Peter Obi supporters after the coups of some West African countries took place.

He and his team have to really sit up and crack down hard on the massive disinformation being posted by these bigots on NL and other online platforms including some radio stations such as NigeriaInfo by ipob sympathizers during different segments handled by specific OAPs to destabilize Nigeria and trigger coups. Nothing must be left uninvestigated from here on.

So Omoyele Sowore called for #FreeNnamdiKanu protest for October 20th.

October 20th marked the #EndSARS anniversary.

Suddenly, there are claims of religious genocide after one of the former presidential candidates visited a foreign country.

During the #EndHunger protests, Russian flags were flown as some called for regime change and installation of a loser of the 2023 elections. Those flags disappeared after the service chiefs issued threats to anyone flying flags and calling for regime change.

IBB fast-tracked the relocation of the capital from Lagos to Abuja after the Orkar coup. Tinubu cancelled independence day parade and was in Lagos during independence.

Since Tinubu won presidency, he has been under threat from certain quarters. I think the man should be allowed to govern. There was no coup threat during Buhari's tenure. Someone went to Chicago to ensure he wasn't sworn in by fabricating tales of non-attendance of a university in Chicago. Many who cannot manage their political parties have accused him of one-party dictatorship. There seems like a huge network of disgruntled politicians willing to fund unrest for change.

They forget one thing.

Abiola assumed Abacha would take over government and hand over to him. Any politician who thinks he'd fund a military coup and benefit from it exhibits the reason he failed as a politician: lack of political intelligence.

We should also decide the type of government we want and stick with it. Anyone planning an illegal change of government should face trial and receive the ultimate price for treason. Politicians and political soldiers must not ruin this country because they lost elections.

Sometimes, calculated unrest are formented by some to justify regime change. We must resist illegal attempt on government. Anyone who cannot contest fairly and squarely should not be involved in politics.

We reject the dark days of the military where freedom was never guaranteed.

PS: The former governor in the south linked to oil and gas, could it be a former governor who also served as state petroleum minister?
In reality, the now President Tinubu is to blame for the relentless disrespect and hate speech he keeps getting online and offline. There's just too much massive disinformation being spread online about him that can easily trigger coups in any African or Asian. I've been saying this even before he became the President of Nigeria that he shouldn't ignore these fake news circulating around him and the false allegations being relentlessly posted online by bigots and secessionist gangs claiming he allegedly forfeited money for hard drugs in 1993 which isn't true. The forfeiture was for a backlog of unpaid tax in the United States in 1993. But NO, he keeps acting like a democrat and allows these creeps and trolls to keep damaging his image and more. If I were in his shoes, I would have got a lot of the random posters online arrested in massive sting operations, tried in court for criminal defamation and jailed accordingly.

What we are failing to appreciate is that a coup, attempted or successful is TREASON worldwide.

TREASON is a heinous crime against the state/government, and since time immemorial the punishment for this is DEATH.

Failed coup plots have always borne this price WORLDWIDE, until modern times where has become life imprisonment with hard labour for the kingpins.

In Nigeria, failed coups are always investigated by the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) and Directorate of Military Intelligence (DMI), which represents the Army.

Nigerian Army is inevitably present in every coup as the biggest force of the three.

DIA is there on behalf of the President and Commander In Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Regardless of tribe and persuasion.

Remember that this is the person you plotted against and failed O!

Anyhow, DIA is run by the Chief of Defence Intelligence (CDI).

The CDI reports DIRECTLY to and outside of the normal military structures to Mr President through the Minister of Defence.

[quote author=Ofu.naofu post=137212745]EXCLUSIVE: Alleged Coup: Defence Intelligence Agency Holds 16 Military Officers In Secret Location For Weeks As Families Express Worries

At least 16 Nigerian military officers are currently being detained incommunicado by the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) in connection with an alleged coup plot that the Bola Tinubu-led government and the military authorities claim they are investigating, SaharaReporters has learnt.

Multiple military sources and family members confirmed to SaharaReporters on Wednesday that the detained officers have been held for over three weeks in an undisclosed location in Abuja under what they describe as “unusual and suspicious conditions.”

One of the families told SaharaReporters that they initially believed their relative had been kidnapped, as there was no official notice from the military about his arrest or whereabouts.

“It’s been 18 days since those 16 officers were detained in an undisclosed location. At first, we thought our brother was kidnapped before finding out what transpired from his friend who works in the NSA office,” a worried family member told SaharaReporters.

“No official explanation from the military till date. None of the families has been allowed to visit or even call them. Everyone is scared about their present condition.”

The Defence Intelligence Agency, which operates directly under the Ministry of Defence, is typically responsible for intelligence gathering and counter-espionage — not for trying military officers accused of offences.

The agency’s decision to detain the officers, instead of referring them to their respective service authorities, has raised questions about legality and due process.

A security expert who served in the military for nine years told SaharaReporters that the DIA was overstepping its mandate.

“In the military, if an army officer offends, he is to be charged by the Nigerian Army directly wherever his or her unit is, because the dossier is with the Army. The same applies to the Navy and Air Force,” he said.

“We want to know when the DIA started handling cases of indiscipline. When did it become a military court?”

He added that if the military were truly conducting a disciplinary sweep for the officers as claimed, “over 10,000 cases” of alleged misconduct could easily surface. He noted that their suspicion is that the current detention of the officers is "politically motivated."

“Why only 16 officers? Why pick from all three services and then hand them over to the DIA? This doesn’t follow standard military procedure,” he added.

The expert also criticised the poor handling of public communication by the Director of Defence Information (DDI), Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, describing his recent interactions with newsmen as “evasive and unconvincing.”

“I just realised that the press men who interviewed the DDI lacked professionalism in their questions. Only two questions about why the officers are with the DIA and why are they being denied access to family members would have been good for Brigadier General Gusau,” he said.

The reports of the alleged coup were exclusively released by SaharaReporters on Saturday.

SaharaReporters gathered that the coup plotters are attached to the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).

ONSA is led by Nuhu Ribadu, a lawyer and retired police officer serving as National Security Adviser to President Tinubu.

Although the military had earlier claimed in an official statement that the officers were being held due to “repeated failure in promotion examinations and perceived career stagnation,” credible sources told SaharaReporters that the arrests were, in fact, linked to a suspected coup plot.

PoliticsRe: Wale Adebayo Reacts As Senator Natasha Clashes With Senate Leadership by AlphaTaikun: 5:30pm On Oct 22, 2025
[quote author=Qtsnow post=137212959]Accountant and social commentator Wale Adebayo through his X account "Mario9ja" has reacted to Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s latest confrontation in the Senate, accusing her of chasing clout instead of focusing on real governance.

During the Senate sitting on October 21, 2025, a mild drama unfolded involving Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, and Senator Adams Oshiomhole. The exchange erupted when Senator Natasha sought to make additional comments on the abortion clause in the Criminal Code Amendment Bill, 2025, even after the matter had already been referred to a committee.

According to parliamentary reports, the bill in question seeks to impose tougher penalties for sexual offenses, including life imprisonment for offenders convicted of defiling minors. However, lawmakers agreed to suspend further debate on sections related to abortion and pregnancy termination, citing concerns that unclear language could endanger women in medical emergencies or expose doctors to prosecution.

Following that decision, the controversial clauses were referred to the Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights, and Legal Matters for deeper review, with a report expected in two weeks. Though this procedural step was not captured in the viral video, it formed the backdrop of the confrontation.

After the matter had been formally stepped down, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan attempted to revisit the abortion clause, insisting she should be allowed to speak since the issue directly affects women. Senator Adams Oshiomhole immediately raised a point of order, arguing that Senate rules forbid reopening discussion on a matter already concluded. He emphasised that permitting a single senator to speak would necessitate reopening the entire debate.

In his ruling, Senate President Akpabio upheld Oshiomhole’s objection, referencing Senate Rule 52(6), which bars further deliberation once a resolution has been made. Akpabio maintained that it would be “out of order” to revisit a matter already deferred to a committee.

The video of the exchange has since gone viral, with many Nigerians accusing her of attempting to create unnecessary drama for public sympathy, a sentiment echoed by Mario9ja in his post.
obviously lacks a deep knowledge of Senate rules. Natasha has to work on herself and her comprehension skills. Period.
PoliticsRe: Collapse Nigeria Into Zones, Ex-Envoy Prof Akinjide Osuntokun Tells FG by AlphaTaikun:
Noneroone:
Former Nigerian Ambassador to Germany, Prof Akinjide Osuntokun, has called on the Federal Government to restructure the country by collapsing the current 36-state structure into viable zones.

According to him, this move will enhance cultural cohesion, promote national unity, and enable more efficient governance.

The academic said this on Tuesday in Lagos during the inaugural lecture in honour of his late brother and former Regional Minister, Oduola Osuntokun.

Osuntokun proposed a modified zonal arrangement that would group states and ethnic nationalities along lines of cultural and historical similarities.

He argued that this would dismantle the colonial-era North-South divide, which he described as an artificial and divisive construct.

In his proposal, the former envoy recommended expanding the South-West zone to include Kwara State up to Jebba, as well as the Kabba and Igala regions of present-day Kogi State.

He stated that such a realignment would foster cultural unity and reinforce regional identity.

He further suggested that the South-East zone should be reconstituted to include Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Rivers State, and the Idoma-speaking areas of Benue State.

A new South Central zone would comprise Edo, Delta, Bayelsa, and the Ebira-speaking parts
of Kogi.

For the North, Osuntokun proposed that the North Central zone be made up of Niger, Kaduna, Nasarawa, Plateau, and Tiv areas of Benue State. Kano, on the other hand, should be merged with Jigawa, Katsina, Zamfara, Kebbi, and Sokoto to form a coherent North-West region, while the North-East would include Yobe, Gombe, Bauchi, Adamawa, Taraba, and Borno.

He said, “This suggestions are rooted in cultural consanguinity but open to negotiation but the measure will remove the Berlin Wall dividing Nigeria into North and South because the current notion of North and South is a colonial imposition and we must break away from it once and for all, this will have to be presented at national conference to break the logjam against cohesion and lack of national feeling.

“If there is an agreement, we will have six constituent states big enough to be self-sustaining, and we would then have a proper federation with a federal legislature of a House of Representatives and a part-time Senate elected by the members of state legislators on an equal basis. We should also have a parliamentary democracy.”

Osuntokun emphasised the need for appointments into federal and state agencies to be based on open competition and merit.

He cited India as a country that has progressed significantly through meritocracy and argued that Nigeria should follow suit, as no region lacks capable individuals.

“Appointments into all agencies of the state and federal governments shall be based on competition anchored on careers open to talent. This is how India got to where it is today and I dare say there is no part of Nigeria where there are no excellent people who will fall short of the measure of meritocracy,” he added.

He proposed mandatory national service for all young Nigerians, both male and female, in the military or other uniformed services for one year after graduation.

“The military, police, and all other armed and uniformed agencies or forces of government shall be recruited based on equality to eliminate the fear of dominance and domination by any ethnic group, and all young people –boys and girls – shall serve in the nation’s military for a year on graduation, as it’s done in the National Youth Service Corps.

“This is the skeleton of the constitutional organogram I am recommending to ensure stability and a safe landing when we run into turbulence,” he proposed.

https://www.punchng.com/collapse-nigeria-into-zones-ex-envoy-tells-fg/%3famp
That's NOT the real photograph of the great Professor Emeritus Akinjide Osuntokun (who is the former Nigerian Ambassador to Germany is now in his 80s) in your attached picture... That's his younger brother.

Second, the new South Central zone he proposed which would comprise Edo, Delta, Bayelsa, and the Ebira-speaking parts of Kogi is quite apt because the Ebiras are also in the Northern part of Edo State and the make up the vast number of the Akoko Edo folks.

Third, just like the Itsekiris who are Yoruboid with the major parent ethnic group of origin being Yoruba, the Igalas are also Yoruboid with about 65% of Yoruba derived words in use in the Igala language due to some presence of Yoruba bloodlines over the centuries with uncanny similarities in core Yoruba words and Igala words such as Ifa, Ogede, Egungun, etc. But the Igalas are a fusion of a few ethnicities such as Idomoid as well, as affirmed by the former Attah of Igalaland, Michael Ameh Oboni in 2017, so, yes, Igala is classified as a distinct ethnic group and it's debatable if they would agree to be classified as along with the larger SW Yoruba right into Kwara and Kogi Yorubas despite the very strong linguistic, cultural, and religious similarities (with Ifa divination being common to Yorubaland and Igala) between Yorubas and Igalas of Kogi and beyond.

Iranian leader who led hijab crackdown slammed after daughter’s 'strapless' wedding dress goes viral: 'Display of hypocrisy'

A video showing the daughter of a senior aide to Iran's Supreme Leader wearing a strapless dress at a wedding in Tehran has stirred a major row. Critics are accusing the regime of hypocrisy over its strict hijab laws.

The footage was reportedly leaked on X on October 17, according to Daily Mail. The video shows Ali Shamkhani, a top ranking advisor to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and former secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, escorting his daughter Fatemeh into the Espinas Palace Hotel. Guests can be seen cheering as the bride walks in wearing a white strapless gown with a low neckline

The Western-style ceremony has been condemned on Iranian social media as a contrast to the modesty and hijab rules that ordinary women are forced to follow. Shamkhani, who once led the government’s harsh crackdown on anti-hijab protests, is now being accused of hypocrisy.

'Lavish wedding in a strapless dress'

“The daughter of Ali Shamkhani, one of the Islamic Republic’s top enforcers, had a lavish wedding in a strapless dress. Meanwhile, women in Iran are beaten for showing their hair and young people can’t afford to marry,” wrote exiled activist Masih Alinejad on X.

“They preach ‘modesty’ while their own daughters parade in designer dresses. The message couldn’t be clearer: the rules are for you, not for them," they added.

'She is free because her father has power'

Swedish-Iranian MP Alireza Akhondi also criticised the display, calling it “a display of hypocrisy, corruption, and fear.” He added, “The daughter of one of the most corrupt and repressive officials of the Islamic Republic is getting married in a lavish celebration, dressed freely. She is free because her father has power. This is no longer religion.”

New hijab rules?

Reports by Iran International claimed the wedding took place in April 2024, with several members of Iran’s political elite in attendance. The backlash comes as authorities prepare to deploy 80,000 new morality police officers in Tehran to enforce hijab rules.

Who is Ali Shamkhani?

Shamkhani, 70, is a long-time ally of Khamenei and served as defence minister and senior military commander before leading the Supreme National Security Council from 2013 to 2023. During his tenure, the regime launched a violent crackdown on protests that erupted following the 2022 death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini, who died in police custody after being detained for allegedly violating hijab rules.

According to Human Rights Watch, more than 500 people, including 68 children, were killed during the “Woman, Life, Freedom” protests, with over 20,000 arrested. A UN fact-finding mission later found that the Iranian government had committed “extensive, sustained and continuing” human rights violations against women and girls.

Shamkhani had previously survived an Israeli air strike on his Tehran residence in June.

A Chinese businessman known as Ross Boss has responded to accusations of scamming a Nigerian customer, allegations brought to light by Nigerian social media activist VeryDarkMan. The dispute revolves around an alleged scam involving a full container of goods and features a complex exchange of positions between VeryDarkMan and Ross Boss.

Initial Partnership: VeryDarkMan had previously promoted Ross Boss as a trusted business associate for Nigerians seeking to import goods from China. In March 2025, he highlighted how Ross Boss had helped him recover money from a separate scam and praised the businessman for opening up opportunities to Nigerians.

VeryDarkMan’s Reversal: In October 2025, VeryDarkMan publicly withdrew his endorsement of Ross Boss. He released videos retracting his earlier statements and cautioning Nigerians to exercise care when dealing with Ross Boss.

The Scam Allegation: This reversal was triggered by a complaint from a Nigerian woman who claimed that Ross Boss had scammed her out of a full container of goods. In his video, VeryDarkMan explained that he no longer trusts Ross Boss after observing what he described as "shady" business practices during a trip to China.

Meanwhile, VeryDarkMan (VDM) and BLord have been engaging in an online exchange after VDM accused BLord—a popular cryptocurrency entrepreneur—of selling repackaged iPhone XRs as iPhone 17s and selling cars at exorbitant prices to Nigerians. VDM vowed to reveal secrets behind sourcing these items cheaper in China and promised to show Nigerians how to get products shipped from China at lower costs.

Ross Boss’s Response: Ross Boss, described as VDM’s “China plug,” has publicly responded to VeryDarkMan’s accusations. He challenged the woman to report the case to the police in China, stating clearly that if the allegations were true, he would face severe legal consequences, including being jailed in China. He also pointed to his substantial inventory to question the likelihood of risking his entire business over a single transaction.

In addition, Ross Boss made several counterclaims against VeryDarkMan:

He called VeryDarkMan "childish and immature" and accused him of using his influence to fabricate false evidence.

He alleged that VeryDarkMan was attempting to use a “nameless girl” to defame him.

He stated that he had spent $15,000 (about N23 million) on VeryDarkMan during his visit to China and presented receipts as proof.

Regarding VeryDarkMan’s claim of seeing 15 Facebook accounts on his phone, Ross Boss clarified that the accounts belonged to his sales staff.

He also claimed that VeryDarkMan’s so-called “direct Chinese contact” named “Wanyi Accessories” was actually VeryDarkMan’s sister, Vivian Otse, pretending to be Chinese.

In the video, Ross Boss alleged that it is actually VDM who has an EFCC case and questioned why VDM is now labeling him a scammer.

Ross Boss explained that he has been in business for over 10 years—long before VeryDarkMan came to China this year—and that he has never taken a kobo from VDM. He dared VDM to focus on what they actually do together instead of trying to paint him as a scammer.

He also challenged VeryDarkMan to provide any evidence of a scam, stating that he is waiting for proof.

The conflict has escalated into a public dispute, with both parties trading accusations online. The situation has highlighted broader issues in cross-border trade between Nigeria and China, including the risks of online scams and the challenges of seeking legal recourse in international business transactions. VeryDarkMan has maintained his position, while Ross Boss continues to defend his reputation and business practices.
