ogododo: Leading Islamic scholars and political leaders in Northern Nigeria have raised concerns over the worsening insecurity across the country, warning that Nigeria risks descending into chaos unless decisive action is taken.
Speaking at a special summit of Northern Ulamas in Kaduna, the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, represented by the Emir of Zazzau, Amb. Ahmad Bamalli, said it was time for Muslim leaders to unite and address the growing misuse of social media and the rising insecurity threatening national peace.
The Sultan said. “This is the time to unite the Muslim Ummah. Our clerics must preach peace, tolerance, and national unity in line with Islamic teachings. Social media must also be regulated because it is increasingly being used to spread division and hatred.”
The leader of the House of Representatives, Alhassan Doguwa, emphasised the need for closer collaboration between religious leaders and lawmakers to promote peace and good governance.“Security is everyone’s business,” Doguwa said. “We in the National Assembly will support any initiative that unites our people and upholds Islamic values.”
Senator Abdul’aziz Yari (Zamfara West) cautioned against placing all the blame for insecurity on the government, noting that the crisis began in Muslim-dominated communities before spreading across the country. He said “Insecurity started in Muslim-dominated areas. We can’t blame the government alone.
The solution lies in our hands — in unity, action, and honest dialogue. We’re sleeping in our rooms and expecting to become billionaires. It doesn’t work that way. We must face economic realities.”
On the spread of fake news and hate speech, Yari said: “Social media doesn’t spare anyone — rich or poor. We are all victims of its abuse. It’s time to regulate it and use it responsibly, as other nations do.”
Prominent Islamic scholar, Sheikh Ahmad Abubakar Gumi, called for dialogue among Islamic sects to address poverty and banditry, which he said were being exploited. by external forces.
“Banditry is being fuelled by outsiders who covet our mineral wealth,” Gumi warned. “They use uneducated herders as pawns in a larger game. We must talk among ourselves and end it internally.”
He also advocated a review of laws on social media defamation without stifling free expression, stressing that the summit’s goal was national unity and reform, not confrontation.

naijablognet: The Naira continued its downward slide against the U.S. Dollar on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, as the currency traded as high as ₦1,510 per dollar at the black market, popularly known as Aboki FX. According to sources at the Lagos Parallel Market (Bureau De Change), traders bought the Dollar at ₦1,490 and sold at ₦1,510, reflecting persistent demand pressure amid limited supply.
Meanwhile, at the official Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) window, the exchange rate remained lower, with the Dollar trading between ₦1,465 and ₦1,479.
Market observers note that the widening gap between the official and parallel market rates highlights ongoing forex challenges and speculative trading in the country.
The CBN has repeatedly warned Nigerians against dealing in the parallel market, insisting that all forex transactions should be conducted through authorized banks.
However, many Nigerians continue to rely on the black market due to difficulties accessing foreign currency through official channels.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6VT1ySJ-So Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo has read a riot act to commisisoners in the state, threatening to send any of them that failed to wear ‘Asiwaju cap’ – also known as ‘President Bola Tinubu cap’ – out of the weekly Executive Council meeting.
Okpebholo said he would not forgive any of the commissioners that failed to wear the cap.
The Governor read the riot act on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, during the swearing in of 20 new commissioners and members of various boards in the state.
Okpebholo, who said the swearing in of the appointees wouldn’t have been possible without the support of President Bola Tinubu, noted that several elections have been conducted in the state in the past and the All Progressives Congress, APC, lost because of lack of support from the sitting president.
“First of all, before we begin I want to say that this couldn’t have happened if we did not have a responsible President. We have done so many elections here. The major problem we had was the President is not with us.
“So, let me tell you, before we begin, you see this cap I am wearing? I will not forgive any commissioner that is not wearing it.
“In EXCO if you are not wearing a suit, and you are wearing a traditional dress, and you are coming to the EXCO without this Asiwaju cap, you are going back,” he warned.
The Governor further warned that he would not tolerate corruption and actions that could undermine the integrity of his administration.
Okpebholo, who said the appointments were made on merit, reminded the appointees that their roles are not for rewards but a call to serve the people of the state.
“Your nominations did not come as a reward or patronage, but as a call to serve the people of Edo State. This administration came into office on the promise of practical governance to touch the lives of our people directly.
“My administration’s focus remains on service delivery and tangible results, not propaganda.
“Our focus is not on propaganda, but on service delivery and tangible results that can be felt in every community across our state,” he added.
He also charged the appointees to see their new positions as an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the development of the state and not not for personal enrichment.
Speaking for the appointees, Festus Ebea commended the governor for the confidence reposed in them

Growing up, I watched my parents work tirelessly to provide for our family. They were always there for me and my three other younger siblings, sacrificing their own happiness for our well-being. As I grew older, I realized that their dedication to our family had come at a cost - they were lonely, and their lives revolved around me as the first son and the only son around in Nigeria.
After my graduation from the university, I relocated to the city and started business ventures while leaving behind my two brothers in the university but they relocated to Europe immediately after their NYSC, I would often visit home and find my parents sitting alone in the evenings, with no one to share their thoughts or experiences with. My father's eyes would light up when I walked in, and my mother's face would break into a warm smile. But beneath the surface, I saw the loneliness and helplessness because they were left alone with our last born and the only daughter we have who was going to school from home.
The scenario that broke the Carmel back was after my sister was posted to far away ADAMAWA state for her Youth service and my dear parents were left all alone to help themselves, they are retirees with Dad a retired principal in a secondary school and mom a retired LGA staff....One Saturday, I visited home unannounced and met the two of my parents lying down helpless with none of them strong enough to even bring out food from the refrigerator to microwave and eat, no strength to even wake up to plug in their phones to charge even when there was electricity supply because they were sick and weak.... immediately they saw me, they rejoiced as if a Messiah had befallen them, my dad told me they had not eaten anything since the previous day because they had no helper and the first thing I should do was to hurry up and warm soup and make Eba for them to start with.
I quickly dropped my luggages and rushed to do as they requested and sooner than later their joy was resoundly restored , we spent all night gisting and merrying that i couldnt hang out with my home boys who were eagerly waiting to have some bottles and cups of palm wine with bush meat on me.
On getting back to the city I realized that I needed as a matter of urgency to give them the joy and companionship they deserved. I needed to bring someone into my life who would care for them as their own parents. I began to appreciate the importance of family and the value of having someone to share life's moments with.
I made up my mind to marry my girlfriend that I dated from the university because I knew she would be my partner, and together, we could give my parents the happiness and companionship they deserved. I wanted to repay their selflessness and sacrifice by giving them a sense of security and joy in their later years.
Marrying her wasn't just about us; it was about building a life together that would bring happiness to my parents. I'm grateful to have found someone who shares my values and loves my family as much as I do.
seunmsg: Sam Amadi is a shameless bigot who represent the worst of Nigeria’s political elites. He’s one of those that have attacked the APC and president Tinubu for no good reason other than losing his appointment when PDP was defeated.
This dude attacked everything connected to APC and even told people that they are after his life if they join APC. Now, his boss and benefactor has joined APC and he is trying to rationalize it with this contradictory statement. He’s now struggling to support Obi and not attack APC and the Enugu governor at the same time.
These guys only care about their pockets and nothing else. They just want relevance at all cost. No principle or anything. Just use bigotry, lies and propaganda to cause chaos and division among the masses for their selfish interest only.
abc115: It is sheer contradiction and foolishness to say that a party is organized, disciplined, and sensible, yet its leader is bad. How can a good tree produce bad fruit? If the leader is truly bad, then the party that produced or supports him cannot claim to be good or organized—haba, let’s be reasonable.

[quote author=Morbeta11 post=137140493]Trending Photos: Covenant University allegedly paid a staff a whopping ₦102k as Gratuity for 14yrs of service.
The X post shares a N102,000 cheque image as gratuity for a Covenant University staff member's 14 years of service, roughly N7,285 per year, sparking outrage over its inadequacy given the university's Christian foundation by Bishop David Oyedepo.
This mirrors prior labor disputes, including 2021-2022 court orders for the university to pay over N10 million in damages and benefits to ex-staff, and a May 2025 report of unpaid terminations leading to one death, indicating recurring issues with employee entitlements.
Slytiger: After eighteen years of shutting down its production plant in Port Harcourt and eventual exit from Nigeria, French tyre manufacturing giant, Michelin, is planning a ‘strategic’ comeback to the country.
This came to light during TechCabal interview with the Managing Director and Vice President of Sales for Michelin Sub-Saharan Africa, Amaury Vadon.
Michelin, which was the leading brand in the Nigerian tyre market in the 20th Century shocked the world when it shut down its production plant located in the oil-rich capital of Nigeria’s Rivers State in 2007.
The unfortunate shutdown was due to the very unfavourable business climate in the country at the time.
Though the company has not announced plans to reopen a factory, according to the news report, ‘it wants to rebuild its brand visibility, strengthen local presence, and position Nigeria as a key growth hub in Sub-Saharan Africa.”
Michelin’s shutdown of production which marked the end of an era in Nigeria’s tyre manufacturing history, was followed by exit of its major competitor, Dunlop.
Factors accurately adduced for their ‘deaths’ in Nigeria include unfavourable business conditions, inconsistent government policies, and the influx of cheaper Asian imports.
TechCabal further noted that in 2008, 90% of tyres sold in Nigeria were imported, up from just 25% in 2005, a shift that reshaped the industry entirely.
“Today, Nigeria’s tyre market is worth an estimated $820 million, projected to hit $1.12 billion by 2030 at a 6.4% compound annual growth rate. Yet, despite growing demand, driven by the country’s 40 million-strong vehicle fleet and expanding road networks, the market remains dominated by low-cost brands. About 80% of Nigerian consumers buy budget tyres, mostly from Asia,” the medium wrote.
Michelin reportedly views this major challenge as an opportunity.
However, Michelin MD Amaury Vadon was quoted to have said, “It’s true that after the shutdown, many Nigerians thought Michelin had left the country. But Michelin never truly left. We may have stopped manufacturing, but we remained commercially active and are now more present than ever before.
“We are not importers or distributors. We have Michelin employees in Nigeria. That’s a key difference. We believe in having people who can explain our value, our innovation, and why Michelin products matter.”
Towards the strategic comeback, it’s revealed, Michelin has restructured its operations in Nigeria, transitioning from an export model to a fully owned local agency. The company now maintains an office on Victoria Island, Lagos, staffed by Michelin employees who oversee direct sales, marketing, and customer engagement.
The company’s renewed focus is on two major growth segments: passenger car tyres and beyond-road activities such as agriculture, construction, and port operations. The size of the passenger car tyre market in Nigeria for 2025 is estimated at over $0.82 billion for producer and importer revenues, with passenger car tyres being the dominant segment in the nation’s overall tyre market.
Popular passenger car tyres in Nigeria, such as 195/65R15 and 205/70R15, measure about 195–205 millimetres in width and fit 15-inch wheels.
Their proportions and related variants are valued for their strength and reliability on rough local roads.
Nigeria’s evolving automotive landscape, with a growing preference for larger, high-end vehicles, drives demand for premium tyres in the 18-inch-and-above category, and confidence already built by the current government’s bold policies of economic reforms, ongoing road construction and infrastructure projects which have created new opportunities in heavy-duty and off-road segments, must have inform the company’s decision to fully return to the country. https://pmnewsnigeria.com/2025/10/15/michelin-planning-comeback-after-18yrs-of-exit-from-nigeria/

BenuePolitician: BIPC BEGINS TESTING OF JUICE PRODUCTION ON BENFRUITS INDUSTRY
The Benue Investment and Property Company Limited (BIPC) has commenced testing of juice production at the Benfruits Industry revitalized by the Executive Governor of Benue State, His Excellency Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia.
The milestone was marked on Wednesday during a successful test-run of the factory located at the Industrial Layout, Makurdi, where the first batch of juice was produced.
Speaking after tasting the first production, the Group Managing Director of BIPC, Dr. Raymond Asemakaha, CFA, expressed delight and commended Governor Alia for breathing life back into the company after years of abandonment.
“Today is the happiest day of my life. This company was abandoned for many years, but we have revitalized it,” Dr. Asemakaha said.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring that Benue farmers gain full value for their produce, noting that once full-scale operations begin, no orange will leave the state unprocessed.
“We want our farmers to have value for their oranges and for every farm produce in the state. This plant will address post-harvest losses, create jobs, increase farmers’ income, raise revenue, and boost the state’s GDP."
Dr. Asemakaha further revealed that the factory would also produce essential oil for pharmaceutical use and organic fertilizer from the orange chaff, ensuring that no part of the fruit goes to waste.
He appreciated the company’s partners SONO Group, Lead Technician Engr. Henry Boager, management, and staff of BIPC for their relentless efforts to make the production dream a reality.
Engr. Boager, the Lead Technician, disclosed that the factory has the capacity to produce four tons of juice per hour, emphasizing that the project would put an end to post-harvest losses and guarantee farmers better returns.
A local farmer, Mr. Wilfred Gbatsoron, expressed gratitude to Governor Alia and the BIPC management for providing a ready market for their produce.
“Before now, our oranges used to waste, but now we have a market. We will expand our farms to increase production,” he said.
The revitalization of Benfruits is one of several industrial revival projects initiated by the Alia administration to promote agro-industrial development and enhance the state’s economy.
BenuePolitician: Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, in company of the Minister of Works, Engr. Dave Umahi, on Saturday officially flagged off the construction of a multi-lane flyover at the Wurukum Roundabout in Makurdi.
The long-awaited project follows the recent demolition of the famous Food Basket monument that once stood at the busy intersection, a move the state government said was necessary to pave the way for the new infrastructure.
The minister’s visit is part of ongoing federal efforts to assess infrastructure needs across the country, with particular attention to road networks and housing projects in Benue.
Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Alia described the flyover as a landmark investment to decongest traffic, boost commerce and enhance the capital’s aesthetics.
He expressed confidence that the partnership with the Federal Ministry of Works would accelerate delivery and bring lasting economic benefits to Benue residents.
Minister Umahi reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to modernising critical road networks across the country, noting that the Wurukum project aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s agenda to strengthen transport infrastructure and stimulate development nationwide.
BenuePolitician: Nigerian, foreign green pasture seekers, have found themselves submerged in a pool of hot tears, after the UK unemployment rate nosedived to a record 4.5 last week according to Nairametrics this increasing rate of unemployment, is brought about by a downtown in the UK economy, Which has seen a lot of providers lose access to support and is now sure to affect a large number of people.
Immigrating to developed countries can be challenging, especially for individuals who are above 40 years old and already have a job in their home country.
Some Nigerians who have left their jobs in search of better opportunities have regretted their decision, as they may struggle to find relevant jobs due to a lack of qualifications or face discrimination based on their race or immigration status.
There are other challenges to contend with for immigrants such as income inequality, bias in criminal justice, and lack of proper documentation affecting the ability to get proper jobs.
Black immigrants in rich western nations tend to have lower incomes and higher rates of poverty and unemployment compared to other immigrant groups, despite having similar levels of education.
Becoming an ethnic minority in a new country can be traumatic, and discrimination based on features or skin color can be a challenge for many immigrants, especially in social settings such as school.
As technology makes the world smaller, migration among humans has become an inevitable trend; although for the most part, it has been unidirectional over the decades.
For example, in 1970, one in hundred Black Americans was an immigrant, today, they are one in 10 while another one in ten is children of immigrants.
This increase in immigration rates is likely to continue as globalization takes hold and the income disparity between rich and poor countries widens.
Research shows that immigration speeds up usually when countries find themselves in the throes of war, and when there are economic crises. For these two reasons, Immigration to occidental lands has assumed a much faster pace over the last two decades.
Nigeria’s economic woes in the last 8 years have by far made it one of the largest sources of black immigrants in the US, Canada, and the UK. But while more and more Nigerians consider migrating for a better standard of living, experience has shown the grass is often not always greener on the other side, at least not for everyone.
Immigrants’ take Livinus Pella, a Nigerian-American, told Nairametrics that one’s vulnerability to living in the USA without a social security number starts with the class of visa s/he gets when travelling to that country.
He said with a visitor’s visa, a migrant may not have enough time to stay in the USA and get properly documented. Pella said any visa that is valid for up to four years gives the owner enough time to be adopted in the new country.
Another Nigerian-American, Gbenga Odulaja, who lives in the United Kingdom, implied that migrating to Europe or America should be carefully considered, especially for those past 40 years old who already have a job in Nigeria. According to him, life in life in these countries can be tough, and it may be better to stick to one’s current job in Nigeria. Some Nigerians who have left their jobs in search of greener pastures have regretted their decision.
“I can understand that people want to migrate to Europe and America due to the economic situation back home. However, except you are coming with your spouse with whom you can work together to earn a living, I advise you don’t come, especially if you are past 40 years old.”
“If you are past 40 and already have a job you’re doing in Nigeria, it’s better you stick to it, because life here is tough.” He added that some Nigerians have left their fairly good jobs back home in search of greener pastures and regretted the move.”
It is also important to note that individual experiences can vary widely, and the decision to migrate should be based on a careful evaluation of one’s personal circumstances, including job prospects, education, language skills, and social support networks. However, Odulaja’s comments will resonate with a lot of Nigerians in this age bracket who have struggled to adapt.
Another Nigerian immigrant who spoke to Nairametrics on the condition of anonymity, reveals his regret for migrating at the peak of his career. According to him, he left the country at 44 when the opportunity to exit showed up.
He sold his house, cars, and nearly every asset he had mopping up all the cash he could lay his hands on to give his family a softer landing. However, he had to contend with firesale prices for his assets (since buyers knew he was desperate) getting much lower than he would have received had the buyers not known he was exiting the country.
The biggest challenge was having to climb up the social ladder as a lack of relevant qualifications for highly sought-after jobs, meant he had to settle for menial jobs. At some points, he thought to return to the country but that also meant starting all over again as he had sold his entire assets.
nairalanda1: Most developed nations, Russia included, are running out of people, because not enough new citizens are being born
Already it is at crisis point in Japan and Korea. Infact, Japan and Russia both have the dubious statisitc of having more people dying than being born
Many nations, like the USA , solve the problem via more and more immigration....which is causing a lot of ruckus (If not for high levels of immigration, legal or not, USA would be at the same level as Japan and Russia..which is why some people are worried about trump's anti-immigration policy)
Russia isn't willing to take as many immigrants , Japan and South Korea are not very friendly to immigrants (Japan self is a country where white people feel discrimated against...loll. Also, Japanese and South Korean racisim is the kind that says that the 'blood must be pure..no mixing).
Modified
Should point out that the demographic crisis too affects countries like Ukraine, which is why they have a foreign legion too.
It's very serious. Some Europeans and Asians dismiss the problem, saying that lesser people means lesser strain on economies...however, as some point out, a population with elderly people in the majority, and too few young people working...means that taxes won;t be paid to fund pensions and services...whahala starts.
Russia also took a large hit in world war 2. It lost far too many young men in the war...and that has also affected population growth.
True that... Deep insights. The massive deaths from the Soviet Union's Gulags (or concentration camps) indeed made ethnic Russians to suffer huge human loses including the direct deaths from Nazi Germany's invasions of Soviet territories during WW2.

Easyinfoguide: Something Big Is Coming In 2026 — And Only Nigerians With Tax Clearance Will Survive It 😳”You ever hear gist that sounds like nonsense… until you dig deeper and realize maybe it’s not?
That was me a few days ago.
A military man at the car wash — one of those quiet guys who never talk too much — just dropped this line casually:
“By next year, tax clearance go become compulsory for everybody. If you no get am, forget enjoyment.”
We laughed. But the thing kept ringing in my head like a bell.
Because that’s exactly how they started BVN. That’s how NIN began. And remember how voters card was once optional? Now try living without it.
When I started checking around, something began to connect…
FIRS is quietly linking personal tax records with NIN and BVN.
Some state governments (Lagos, Rivers, Abuja) already testing integration for passports, business registration, and property purchase.
Rumor says new national verification forms will soon require “TCC Number” beside NIN.
Nobody is shouting about it yet because it’s in pilot phase — and Nigeria likes to spring surprise moves when it’s too late to react.
But think about it: Every digital reform since 2014 started this exact same way — first whispers, then full lockdown.
Remember when people ignored BVN until their accounts got frozen? Same pattern.
This new Tax Clearance wave might be the next big filter. You’ll need it to:
Register a vehicle.
Renew international passport.
Apply for business loans or grants.
Even do certain “change of ownership” at FRSC or Police.
And when the switch finally flips in 2026, the stubborn ones will start running helter-skelter, looking for shortcuts.
But by then… the system would already be locked.
For now, it’s still a whisper. But from what I’ve seen in the past few days, this is more than rumor.
Something big is moving quietly beneath the surface.
I’ll keep investigating and drop part two soon — breaking down how this “tax clearance revolution” could literally decide who counts as a law-abiding Nigerian in the coming years.
Because this time, it’s not just about money. It’s about control.
