He lied
He said "does that mean I can use my 2001 Camry for Uber" and that was 7 days ago, meaning he's been driving for like 3 days now

dru23:
I see am at first... but I figured he meant to say he was driving a 2001 camry for two months and he now noticed that uber actually accepts cars from 2000. Make he come explain himself sha ... make we give him time
BusinessRe: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by alstarmayo(m): 6:01pm On Mar 27, 2018
That's different from going to the market to purchase such car, for the sole purpose of doing Uber business

Dovehorizon:
Yes it doesn't come cheap but working smart can cover up for it.
You highlighted a sentence, in the quest of trying to sell your car to get uber worthy ride, what happens when you do not get a buyer? Sit and home and write an epistle? Nope...
BusinessRe: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by alstarmayo(m): 4:23pm On Mar 27, 2018
It's doesn't come cheap, but it seems like you want to offer humanitarian services, because the fares are low

Dovehorizon:
I ordered an uber for a friend and the driver came with a highlander, like I said earlier, it's not always about the size of the engine, it's about bin smart.

Talking about brand of cars, I see where people say only xyz cars will stand the test of time, they are right to an extent but not entirely, if you haven't driven other brands then it's wrong to ascertain that other brands won't, afterall I still see some rickety Volvo carrying tomatoes around Mile12. Some cars are problematic but with diligence and good maintenance culture it would serve you well and that's if you drive it yourself but if you ain't driving yourself then stick to xyz brand.

If I decide I wanna drive on uber and should I want to go for a 2.5litre engine then it would be a 2014 Camry or 2014 Honda Accord, yes i have class and I also know there are riders who also deserve such...

Like I said, it's all about working smart.

Abi you want contribute money give am buy 1.8l ..... I tire
BusinessRe: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by alstarmayo(m): 8:56pm On Mar 26, 2018
Don't buy big daddy Camry for Uber, the engine is too big, buy a car with 1.8L or lower engine

Uber calculates your rating over your last 500 rated trips

bily:
as a rider/driver, regarding Uber rating system, these are my own personal conclusions

.. a rating system is very much required and the purpose which is primarily to keep drivers on their toes in terms of service delivery and weed out bad drivers makes a lot of sense

...uber rating system is too simple, I believe the calculation should be much more complex. the simplicity of using normal averages makes it very very unfair to drivers. a form of weighted averages would have been better. for example if 4 people rates a driver 5 stars after which driver now gets a 1 rating, his average rating will be drop from 5 star to 4.2 immediately ie 5x4 +1x1=21/5=4.2. it will now require so many 5 star rating to get to 4.7 and the driver will never be on 5 star again even if he keeps getting 5 stars rating subsequently. so think this is the part that needs to be worked on

...rating systems should also affect riders. riders should also get temporarily blocked for low ratings cheesy this will also make riders sit up and be better clients

Apart from the fact that EOD isn't the right car for ehailing (Engine size too big).
Get a car tracker and comprehensive insurance instead of looking for a driver with condition 1, your weekly rental is already guaranteed by condition 3.
No experienced ehailing driver will apply for this, your conditions are ridiculous, except the desperate ones.

I had another reply in mind, but I didn't want to anger the advocate of e-hailing partners. He will bombard me with memes

Your 2003 corolla is accepted in any colour, as for earnings, you'll have to start and see for yourself. since it's an extra means of income, take it as a hobby and see what you make after 1 week

Gazzuzz mentioned how he started daily oil level/colour inspection. What I was expecting is Partners like yourself stating how you do your own periodic inspection of your cars, because I notice most partners just do a walk around, to ensure there's no scratch or dent.
Some partners don't even want to know about the less than 5k maintenance, that was done by the driver on their car"
If my driver wants to do a minor maintenance, I want to know he's doing the right thing, and not turn a deaf ear, because it's less than 5k, he should take care of it.
The initial post and my reply is not about weekly rental.

dru23:
Well so far so good. Most of my cars have been running for past seven months now. If I can't get value for my car, I will either park some of them sell it and move on or ride it out, which everone comes first. Time will tell ... and regardless how you look at it . If you give out your car for even 20k a week. There is the possibility that the driver will still flog the car and trying to make double than the owner.
The bottom line is wheather you get value for your car or not . Drivers will still flog your car.. Wheather you give them rental for 15k a week they will still complain and tell you business is slow. That is the reality of the business, when business was good they still complain. It's a tough business bro...

okay what if I collect "bad" rental and car is still not bn taken care of? Driver go park your knocked engine & look for another car to drive
BusinessRe: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by alstarmayo(m): 10:59am On Mar 15, 2018
My point is, you should have a balance, while trying to recoup your investment, make sure the car is being taken care of

thebigkendo:
The Engine knock would have still happen irrespective of Rental valve but in this case he would have gotten #40000 x 4 weeks x 6months = #960,000 as against #35,000 x 4 weeks x 6 months = #840,000 or less.
Engine knocking is a function of engine health and maintenance not rental value.
BusinessRe: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by alstarmayo(m): 10:42am On Mar 15, 2018
and what happens when you get good rental value for 6 months and your engine knocks, there has to be a balance

dru23:
This is the basic stuff am saying. How many drivers will do oil check in the morning? It is not their car, why should they care. This is one of the reason I always tell partners make sure you get good rental value or maximum value for your car. Hopefully drivers can do the basic that you are doing rite now ... keep up the good work

My point is Sunday is one of the best days to make money, I can give you 2 hours on a Wednesday, but I can't give you 30mins on Sunday

EmpireGroup:
We already tested Monday to Saturday and Sunday was seen as best...

Just an hour of servicing... We have 10 auto technicians;
2 vulcanizers
3 rewires
5 mechanics

And requests are easily seen from our workshop after servicing.

Sunday is a wrong day for car servicing, it shows you don't understand the market

EmpireGroup:
Why give your precious cars to fleet managers who promise returns of 35-40k and the outcome of your car at the end of the month is so high to repair?

At empire global, your car delivery per week is 30k.
Installation of tracker per vehicle is 35k.
Car servicing at the end of each month = 10k with free car scanning and detailed report.
Driver pays for serious damages to the vehicle.
** Car servicing is done on Sundays only.

We won't lie about the number of cars we are managing presently, we have just 4 cars under our management and no driver has defaulted so far.

Also, we are trying to partner with a financial institution to help purchase specific vehicles for the e-hailing use at a rental friendly rate.

Should you be interested?

Numbers don't lie, you'll have to show those numbers to prove you can make that amount, not speculations as you've been stating since

Andalucia:
Hello!

Thanks for your input.

Could have made your point without the sarcasm though (writing skills? I don't understand what you're about).

Rental won't cut it. Each to his own please (might sound cocky but the numbers never lie...mostly and I've run them).

I will get a Principal and very soon too.

To every other well meaning commentator, I'm not towing the rental path so kindly stay your comments relative to that (and if you can avoid throwing shades and/or insults at my person or intent, I'll be much obliged. Like I keep reiterating, no one is being forced to give heed to my senseless proposal).

Regards.

Driver doesn't make the biggest loss, he will dump your car and move unto the next one. We have seen drivers crashed and knocked their partner's engine, they are still driving today

You people are just arguing about who should earn more, instead of car owners to determine how they want to recoup their investment (ROI) in a reasonable time. As long as your car is being used well and maintained properly, what you should be concerned about is getting your money back with plenty extra.
