kofo1020:
hello house,
i need a candid advise, i am applying for ireland tourist visa and i am certain to get approved, but the main reason i am asking for an advise is that,i am trying to relocate to ireland with my wife, i have friends in ireland that told me with a good lawyer i can apply for asylum there in ireland when i relocate there, please everyone i need a real advise from those living in ireland or knows a bit about ireland, is it advisable to go ahead with these step because i heard work permit can be very hard there and i don't want to relocate with my wife and be left hanging in a strange land without doing anything and make the asylum no go be setup sef..
>and is there citizenship by birth in ireland?. please house i need an advise though..
I don't think you should do it. Tactics like that worked 10 or 20 years ago, but not anymore. You won't be able to work, access health care and your children will not be citizens even if they're born there.

You're right. It IS actually gross misconduct and a sign of improper coordination. Irish immigration has sadly not adapted to the increased numbers of applicants, which doesn't make sense because Ireland took proactive measures to increase their international student population over the last few years.

Some other people with inferiority complex would think foreigners can never make mistakes, and say everything that goes wrong is our fault. But in this case, as with so many others, the Irish immigration handled it very poorly. An application made on July 5 is early enough. No excuse.
bonuken:
I applied on the 5th of July and my orientation at AIT was 2nd September. 8 weeks would have been before the weekend of 30th of August. Having faith I even purchased a ticket for 31st. Where am I now! Heard my application was moved to Dublin who say it was received on the 23rd of August (7 weeks after submission). They are not willing to even prioritize these visa applications even if they were submitted early at the originating consulate. I know people that applied LATE, ending of July and early August that have received their visa. Right now I am on the verge of losing my admission, my ticket which i left open will be wasted as I do not intend on visiting Ireland after all this. THIS WAS GROSS MISCONDUCT! It also showed both the Abuja consulate and Dublin are not collaborating properly. If they were visa submission dates to Abuja would have been used to queue applications at dublin. Emotions are running wild sha, but let us wait and see the outcome of all this.

To all those scream and accusing the Irish embassy of gross incompetence, I bet you all didn't read the part where you were told to apply at least 12 weeks to the resumption of your programs.
So because you submitted an application in August for a program that starts in September, they should abandon every other application on their hands and attend to yours?

Let's all play our parts first before spewing thrash and bugging them with calls. The rules are clear!
Very insensitive and unwise comment. This is an example of how Nigerians lose the capacity for empathy once they're not affected by a situation. People's applications are now entering the 10th week. If you can't recognise the amount of mental stress that can cause someone then I don't know what to tell you

Can you pay for your IRP card with the €300 in cash?

For those who have gotten their visas, were you notified first of the decision by the Embassy before delivery by UPS? Would mind to know please as I watch & pray. Many thanks smiley)
Wasn't notified. I just kept checking the UPS website and tracking my package.

vkyburnz:
Hmm...they have to step up their game. Turnaround time shouldn't exceed 28 - 30 days max for student visa.

....and then, they're asking way too much documentation for a study visa
Exactly what I've been saying! Their visa process hasn't really adapted to the increasing number of applicants. I don't think it should take more than 3 weeks to decide if someone should study in your country or not. And they ask for too many documents smh.

I have a friend who is giving out his accommodation for 15days at 11euros per day and 175euros for 15days from 3rd of September in Dublin 1. That can be used pending when you get long term accommodation.
This will be useful. Can you help me reach out to your friend?

I have asked before and I am kindly asking again. Has anyone received visa after the intended travel date?
I'm not sure about that. I think the date that matters more is your course start date. I feel they'll try to send your passport back before you're meant to start classes so you won't miss any class.
TravelRe: GENERAL Irish (student)visa & Work Permit-New THREAD*** by alusiala: 1:10pm On Aug 28, 2019
Alright you're also going to UCD that's nice! Hopefully we will all meet next week. I found some hostels on Booking.com
But the prices/availability is tough. Housing is really expensive in Dublin. I'll keep you posted.

vkyburnz:
You can check off-campus accommodation options (daft.ie etc) under Incoming Student Menu in your UCD sisweb student account. You can also email UCD international for help. Their response time is great!!!

Another way around it might be to connect with guys/babes here schooling in Dublin area who's visas are ready and probably come up with something (temporary) to share cost pending when you guys can sort out your accommodation preferences on arrival in Dublin. Others in the forum already studying in the Dublin area can also help out.....

Be careful though....and for accommodation - always better to pay for what you can see (space offered and review of the tenancy contract). Best of success dude...still dey wait for my visasmiley)
TravelRe: GENERAL Irish (student)visa & Work Permit-New THREAD*** by alusiala: 10:06pm On Aug 27, 2019
Guys this accommodation thing is deadly. How are you guys doing it? I've been checking booking.com and all the properties there are either unavailable or very expensive. I need somewhere temporary to stay for like 1 week.

If your Tracking number starts with W, you'll be unable to track it. don't waste your time
Not entirely true. My tracking number started with W, and I submitted in Abuja. You'll be able to track it only when UPS has picked your package up from the embassy (When they have given a visa decision).
At first, my tracking number wasn't working, and then on Sunday the UPS status finally changed.

Woah for real shocked shocked shocked. That's great. congrats. I think all applications processed in Nigeria are processed in Abuja if i am not wrong.
Mine was processed in Abuja, but earlier in this thread we found out that the Abuja embassy actually sent some applications to Dublin to be processed. Not all.

BlueManKing:
Congratulations to you. Were you able to track your documents using ups eventually?
Yes, last night the status changed and was saying delivery would be by Wednesday. So I was surprised when it got delivered today.

Pradit:
which country did you apply from
I'm Nigerian, I applied in Abuja. I don't know how it was processed quickly but Thank God lol. I used UKEAS, and the agent said sometimes if you're going to a large, well-known university, it can be a boost.

I don't know if it affected anything but I also used the education bond. But my friend used bank statements, and still got hers in about 3 weeks.

But more likely, the embassy here is prioritising study Visa applications so students can resume on time. So maybe if your case is straightforward, they can be really fast.
TravelRe: GENERAL Irish (student)visa & Work Permit-New THREAD*** by alusiala: 2:37pm On Aug 26, 2019
Hey, my visa was issued today. Submitted on August 9, some things out of my control delayed my submission. It got to the Embassy on August 14 (Because of Sallah holiday). Visa stamped August 23, so processing took around 9 days surprisingly. UPS delivered it this morning.

Going to University College Dublin. My friend submitted on August 5th and has gotten hers today as well.

Will it be an issue if I forgot to list all travel history? I forgot I had visited the UK once as a 3 year old, and again as an 8 year old. The passports are long gone and the vacations skipped my mind cos they were short.

I only listed travel history shown on the 4 surviving passports I had, I totally forgot the trips I took as a small child as I don't really have any personal memories of them.

Guy the embassy drops list of approved visas weekly.
My number came up on the 13/08/19 - 19/08/19 batch. Bear in mind I submitted 1/07/19.
I haven't gotten the visa. I don't even know if it has left Dublin yet. Just check the site.
Hey sorry when's your course start date?
TravelRe: GENERAL Irish (student)visa & Work Permit-New THREAD*** by alusiala: 7:54am On Aug 22, 2019
Ireland is trying to rebrand it's international image and become a major education hub. It's strange how they're visa process doesn't seem to have adapted much.
TravelRe: GENERAL Irish (student)visa & Work Permit-New THREAD*** by alusiala: 7:53am On Aug 22, 2019
Zubby101:
I called the Abuja Consulate last week and they told me my application was forwarded to Dublin.

I asked them if this was standard procedure, but they said it was because of the sheer volume of applications.

If you do check your reference, email the HQ at Dublin to inquire further visamail@justice.ie.
Woww so they actually sent applications to Dublin. According to that website they're processing applications sent before July 25.

Been a while anyone posted about receiving their visa decisions. Have there been any recent visa decisions either positive or negative?
TravelRe: GENERAL Irish (student)visa & Work Permit-New THREAD*** by alusiala: 1:16pm On Aug 20, 2019
Use your VFS tracking number on the VFS tracking website. It starts with IE

Awesometreasure:
Please what’s the duration of an application getting to the embassy from vfs Lagos.

I dropped my documents 6th of August at vfs Lagos and it’s still yet to be shipped after tracking, this is 2 weeks gone already, anyone else having this challenge?

I applied in Abuja
Interesting. I feel like its Abuja applicants that might not be able to track UPS, until the embassy returns their documents to the VFS.

The people unable to track their UPS package, or their waybill/tracking doesn't start with 1Z, did you apply at the Lagos or Abuja VFS?
TravelRe: GENERAL Irish (student)visa & Work Permit-New THREAD*** by alusiala: 2:17pm On Aug 19, 2019
Honestly I don't get why an application for study takes 7 weeks for Ireland. Are they understaffed at the Irish embassy? UK study visas can come out in 15 days, or 3 days if you're in a hurry.
TravelRe: GENERAL Irish (student)visa & Work Permit-New THREAD*** by alusiala: 2:15pm On Aug 19, 2019
Na was oh. But that email sounds like a standard reply. If you submitted June then it should have already been assessed by now.
Lerrrrrrrrrry:
This embassy is playing with my feelings ... Please is it possible for it to come before this week ends huh Any idea ? Submitted on the 27th of June and it got to Abuja on the 28th

If the embassy requests for more documents from you, they will instruct you on how to send it in. In my case, I was told to send scanned copies of the needed documents.

Regards
Thanks for your answer. So the only way to send more is if they ask for it?
