my vote for gej is solemnly based on the demonstrated
capability of his short tenure so far.And a desire to give non-Muslim
candidate, and a southerner a chance. Tired of the Hausa/fulanis
hegemony's.  i certainly observed
measurable progress so far in the country.I pray he does
more in the coming four years.

All these facts tells a very clear story. A rebellious prince, with his supporters and entourages, exiled
from their society, settled, and founded a place called FREETOWN. Obviously in defiance to where
he came from, that, they were not free.
In this freetown (ile-ife), he or they instituted the religion they already know from home to unite
and consolidate the larger communities.
All these facts analysed, are coded in EDO, so, they must be of Edo origin.

Taking advantages of their knowledge of the sacred orders, expanded the pantheons of the known gods.
And proliferated the Obaships.

IFA:

FA = fade or expire.
IFA = won't fade or won't expire = preservation, perpetuity,and eternity.

Therefore,

IFA =preservations of human perpetuity or eternal preservation of life.
Culture / Re: Edo Colonized Yorubaland Not Vice Versa. by amazonia(m): 10:33pm On Mar 11, 2011
[2]
       ILE-IFE;

FE  =   free

Ife  = i am free = Freedom

Le = space, place,there, here, where.

ILE = home, place, where i dwell.

Therefore Ile-ife in Edo means, where i went for freedom. or where i ran for freedom or place of freedom.
So, Ile-ife = FREETOWN.

After studying this issue, some facts are unanimously accepted as true.
The relations and revelations of these facts have to be explored.

Accepted Facts;

Oduduwa

ILe-Ife

Ifa.

Analysing facts;

Oduduwa =  Odu  d  uwa.

ODU-odu-uwa = oduduwa = ways of enrichments.
ODU-ukhun = odukhun = ways up.
ODU-ugbo = odugbo = ways to the farm.
ODA-ARO = odaro = ways forward.
ODE-EDO = odedo = ways to Edo.
ODI-iyeke =odiyeke = way to the back.
ODI-Ibarre = odibarre = way to front yard.
ODO-obo = odobo = doctor's side or place.
ODE-egbo= odegbo= ways to the forest.

Some examples of common oduduwa type of phrases in Edo(Bini);

Oduduwa------- The ways of enrichments,glory, and salvation.
Odudugie------ The ways to the festival.
Odudumawen------The ways of betterment.
Oduduma----- The ways to greatness
Odudugbo----- The ways to the farm.
Oduduwanwen---- The ways of growth and wisdom.

UWA:

wealth (offsprings,generations), enrichments, Health--glory/salvation.

So, Oduduwa = Ways, Teachings, or Verses on human glory and salvation.

This debate is still going on? We know yorubas and Edos, like all others of our ethnic groups
are related one way or the other. That is the nature of humanity and its diversities. We are
all distant cousins, despite our different plumages, and tongues, which are themselves
objects of evolutions.

Amazonia, these are the kind of Olokun symbols I'm familiar with:

The first picture is from the book The Art of Benin by Paula Ben-Amos

The second picture is from the article "The Initiation of a Priestess: Performance and Imagery in Olokun Ritual" by Joseph Nevadomsky and Norma Rosen

So you're definitely right about it being written in columns/rows, but I still don't think the Olokun symbols constitute a written system for daily communication like ezeagu was asking about.

If you can find an image of this aroko writing, then please share it somehow. Or at least describe this binary writing.

The followings are some examples of the writings i am talking about. Like i said before, the basic
structures are the same, but, the symbols varies.

l l
l l
l l
l l ogbe-bor,or ogbe meji. Tending towards harmony. female. negative polarity.Yes, but depending

l

l Osa

l

ll
ll uncertainty

l

l
l re-examine

ll

ll
ll lka.

l blessing especially of new life.

etc etc. I am not going to do any teaching on this. Yes these are small examples of words and phrases
in aro-oko.

Please provide more information on this. This is the first I'm hearing about this.

The only written symbols of the Edo that I'm familiar with are the Olokun symbols, which are strictly religious and not for daily communication.

Yes, is the same use by native religions practitioners. Is not limited to Olokun.
Though, olokun, ogun, orunmila and other deities's symbols are different, but the basic
forms are series of oooo and xxxx constituting forms of dynamism within creation.
Knowledgeable practitioners also use the form to record their yam harvest pen, and other stocks.
I am not proficient in it. I do know is written and read in columns.

Meyan:

And colonial records also recorded that we (Nigerians) were uncivilized - a people incapable of leading themselves, and that was the reason they colonized us. So are you telling me that was also true, if we are to take “colonial records” as the basis for this discussion?

Thanks for your efforts. One thing is clear from the foregoing conversation. That is the
relations between this two groups is ancient and more detail and complex, than any
historic accounts reflects. Certainly, before any type of higher connections between the
groups leaders, there were already innumerable webs of relationships of both families,
commerces, and others types among the common people of both societies.
You just don't crown a stranger to lead your people. They were well aware of Ododuwa
princely blood[heritage].

The box hat is interesting. It looks powerful. Did Edo have any type of writing they communicated with (like to generals and the queen mother and all, giving them signs or a word)?

Edo did have types of written communications. One of them is called AROKO.
It still used today mainly among the priestly groups. It is based on BINARY elements.

it is preposterous to suggest that Omo declare his intentions for governorship.
There certainly were lack of checks and balances, the oba spoke to this one

The only way and time Africans will really start to make PROGRESS is when they begin  deconstruct the identity that foreigners have forced on us and start to redefine our own identity as the Prototype of mankind, the Source of humanity, and we start to take control, exercise ownership of our own property, consolidate our property in order to get the best deals and assertively espouse our uniqueness as the ‘SOURCE of HUMANITY’. Arabs and Europeans come from us. No foreigners are superior to Black Africans, they have just managed to successfully exploit our differences; the gaps in our knowledge, and ability to effectively organize to date .

We now know the truth, the information is there for all to see! What a pitiful sight, Africans squabbling over peanuts when we should be affluent and fulfilled. Damnnnn

^^^^ I agree with you 100%
These people historically are located in the mediterania, also called Middle-East, of Asia ,i suppose.

It is important that the[ black] muslims brothas know that the unequal balance
of nurture[ideas,and values] on the one hand,and their natural dispositions[blood] on the other, is partly
if not solemnly responsible for their slacks in achievements in mordern age.
The inventors of knowledges that cummulated to present civilization, had
been almost rendered irrelevant in the cutting edge of knowledges creations,
because of some idealstic values of islamism. Arabic numeral other
higher knowledge base educations were invented by these people before
the advent of Islamism. With a religion[ opium] that require five times devotions a day,
No surprise they have not been able to set or master the pace for scientific inquirings.
A balance of nurture/nature is important. When in doubt, defer to nature(blood), because
it is the default setting by the creator.
Too much nurture leads to automatum(machine). Human zombie.

Sometimes called Middle-East, of Asia, i suppose.

Oba---- color---Red.

Baba----- light shine. light show the way. Leader lead.[father]
