@ezeagu, you are not correct, the British consolidated the present day Nigeria from the natural inhabitants of this region. They did not create it .Also, life did not begin in Edo with the Benin empire. Anyway, that is neither here nor there. What i do know is that all Igbo, yoruba, and pre-Mohammedanism Arewa names, and deities are coded in Edo.These are not by coincidence.

You are right, however, contrarily, i am suggesting the strengthening
of our roots rather than compromising them. We can achieve this by
linking to our common root. There is something most if not all our
ethnics groups have in common. Which is our ancestral heritage.
Arewa-Edo Igbo-Edo Yoruba-Edo And other groups
in between that are of Edo ancestry. We are the Edo nation. In this
scenario, no one is compromising its root. Rather, strengthen it by
linking to a common thread. This name Edo is love, its the love of God
himself bestow on human. (the holy breathe of life).

@Ezeagu, By prayerful i mean an empowering and inspirational name. For example a name
like Oduduwa means ' The way of salvation' or 'The way of Glory. This types of
names are inspiring, and properly define our temperaments. Or word like Amandi
wish mean "bravery" is empowering.

                  and the current imbalance of developments along ethnic lines.My suggestion
                  for achieving this type of a nation we can all be proud of, will manifest by working
                  on our basic foundational problems.Key among this problems is the "questionable
                  Nigeria identity". @Horus,  You are right, it's a shame to trade your meaningful given
                  names for the hardly meaningful foreign ones. This same personal crisis of identity,
                   is ailling our nation, with such meaningless, and outright insulting word like Nigeria, as name.
                   How can one be spontaneously proud of it? Good, prayerful, meaningful  indigenous
                   name can help us foster new and strengthen existing natural bonds.

them in my opinion are Gani Fawehimi, Tia Solarin and etc

Good name is better than riches, so they say. Gani Fawehinmi good name will live for ever. Babaginda can hardly
buy respect with the billions or trillions of money he stole.

@op, i agree with you that flag is so bland, It shows too much lack of imaginations. If we have to r.represent for our foliage, one square of that should be enough. More important than the flag is our name Nigeria. The word Nigeria is an insult, a curse. The name was designed by our invaders to assuage their guilt. That is, the insulting and dehumanizing name sorts and exonerate their conscience of their evil intentions. And now that we know, and are supposedly independent, we must reclaim our indigenous identity.

To help stop Nigeria police from harassing citizens, first, you have to completely ban officers from legal and illegal mind uttering substances. Drinking alcohols with deadly instruments at your command should be a no, no. Mentally impaired officers (substance induced or otherwise) with weapons of destruction should be of zero tolerance to the force. [color=#006600][/color]

I think it should be completely illegal for police and other forces to use any mind altering substances on or off duty. Drug addicts and alcoholics should be dismissed from the force. Also periodic drug and other substance abuse tests should be instituted to weed out noncompliance officers.

The state governor should look into this matter. Police officers shouldn't be robbing and murdering citizens days and nights. This is not just  the foot  police. This is organized robbery. IG is the mafia Bose sending his hitmen to shake unearned and undue protection money from hard working poor people . Nigeria is a criminal enterprise.

The  Nigeria police force as now constituted, is outlasting it useful life. Policing urgently need decentralization Police department should be a local govt. affair. With a police chief answerable to the chairman. Local govt. chairman appoints, or nominate candidate with counsel members approval. And state police department to deal with intra- state issues. And a national charter for interstate crimes.  local force made up of local folks will easily get coperations of citizens to help solve crimes. Moreover as an indigene, they are likely to know who the bad guys are. Our National police as it is now, is a decoration. They cannot, and will not be able to protect citizens when push turn to shove

I agree with GEJ. It should definately start from the rulers. When they start thinking good thoughts and acting responsibly, then it will trickle down to all Nigerians. Thank you for this topic. God made Nigeria great, but we have been fighting hard to grab ineptitude and failure. What exactly is responsible for this case of "failure to thrive" syndrone? Could it be  most of us are victims of mind programmed without any of our conscious intents. Here you are living your life by their programming.We must reclaim, refine, and reinforce the ffundamentalmoral cconsciousnessthat is native to us. To achieve this we must magnify, emphasis, and develop those qualities that bring us together. The love of your fellow citezens as brother. There is no mountain high enough that a unified Nigeria ,that see themselves as a family-nation working for the common good cannot conquer.

This is amazing. So they just sit around and share the national gross as salaries and allowance. How can there ever be enough left for educations, power and other developments? Something need to be done. The goverment is too big and irresponsible. These are band of theives but nothing else.
