Atunyota Alleluya Akpobome, popularly known as Ali Baba, is celebrating his birthday. A lot of friends family and comedians have been wishing him well because he helped paved the way for others to follow. One of them is Ayo Makun (Comedian AY). He took to his Instagram page to hail the stand-up comedian describing him as "king of Kings of comedy". AY also disclosed that it was Ali Baba who asked him to come to Lagos after he had graduated from Delta State University having seen some potential in him. It's no surprise that the "Merry Men: The Real Yoruba Demons" actor stated that he owes all of his success and achievements to the celebrant. He also called him his "mentor" and "father in the comedy industry".

Nkem Owoh also known as Osuofia, needs absolutely no introduction as he is one of the most popular actors in Nollywood. In an interview with Igbo TV, the “Ukwa” star talks about Nollywood, role interpretations and what makes him different from others in the Nigeria movie industry.

Excerpts below.

How did acting start for you?

I never thought of acting, l would say acting to me was a gift, it just came right from my early stage of life, I was into lots of things back then it was believed that everybody in sciences we’re the brilliant one’s so I left everything that has to do with arts to creativity in my heart. I was just pursuing sciences but I discovered that no matter how I try to push it away, I mean the gift of acting, it just keeps coming back to me, just the expression I give, people laugh about it so at the end of the day the comedy aspect of me came naturally for me so I would say acting was not something I planned for, it just came naturally.

Which of your movies would you say shot you to limelight?

I think am not in the best position to answer that question myself because people love me for different movies I have done, some prefer Osuofia in London, some love Ukwa, while some people would say oh they love Omuogwu, the one I acted with Patience Ozokwor, so I can’t even say or tell anybody this is it but all the same I can tell you the one I enjoyed most economically (laughs!!!) The ones that sent me straight to the bank are the ones that attract me mostly such as Osuofia in London which is a cross-cultural drama. I like to do things very challenging. Apart from that, there is a film I did once when I was younger, it was a story that was told to me by my grandmother, so when someone brought the script that was similar to that, I loved it. I acted the lead and it was titled The King of the Jungle, I had so much attachment with that particular movie mainly because of my grandmother but I don’t know if it made it economically.

How true is it that you don’t go by scripts but interpret roles your own way?

You see when you are acting drama and you are advancing in films there are certain things that just start becoming part of you. I believe script is a guide, I interpret it in my own way, what I need is essence or the concept you want to send across but at the same time, if I interpret it my own way and you don’t like it, you can bring your own except when it becomes obscene, that is only when I will say no but once it’s within my comfort zone, it’s fine by me.

Williams Uchemba is known to be a philanthropist. The actor/comedian is well known to engage in humanitarian activities. This time, he shared a photo of an 18-year-old whom he identified as Demola.

According to Uchemba, he met Demola at a furniture store and discovered he was an apprentice carpenter. He engaged him in a conversation only to discover "he is a very smart young boy".

The actor invited the apprentice carpenter to his home and eventually "adopted" him.

So, who wouldn’t want to work with an actress that make your job easier? She makes the job lesser for you when you are on set with her. She always works with ease.

Is there a possibility of reconciliation between you and Toyin?

We have reconciled. We don’t just want to bring it online. We have reconciled and everybody is at peace now. I do tell people. Yes, our fans love us, they don’t want to see us fight but, in our industry, we are like family.

People I have issues with and the issue is elongated is because we have not seen ourselves trust me, when we see ourselves, especially when we meet at an event we always settle that is how united we are. It’s only some of our fans who make it out of proportion.

So, I am begging our fans, we are family, you won’t know when we settle. At the end of the day you will keep guessing, so please always take it easy on us. The only things that still bother me was when I was going to have my baby and someone wish my enemy to die in labour, it really hurt me. Please our fans always take it easy on us, you won’t know when we will settle and you guys will be left in the dark. Always take it easy when we are having issues.

Azeez Fashola popularly known as, Naira Marley, has reacted after he, Kim Oprah and his friends were called "a bunch of useless people" by the chairman of Executive Jet, Sam Iwuajoku while apologizing for flying the singer despite COVID-19 flight restrictions. This was in written form by the CEO to the minster of aviation. While reacting to this, Naira Marley claimed their names were asked on the jet and even the pilot, is a "Marlian".

It's no longer news that former beauty queen, Ibidun Ighodalo, died June 14 at the age of 39. It's understood she suffered a heart attack in the early morning in a hotel in Port Harcourt where she went to assist with a project to build isolation centers for COVID-19 patients. Her death came as a shock to friends and family. In fact, the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has paid a condolence visit to her husband, Pastor Ituah Ighodalo, of Trinity House Church over the death of the event planner.

Babajide Sanwo-Olu shared photos on his Instagram page. He wrote;

“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow nor crying, neither shall there be anymore pain: for the former things have passed away”. Revelation 21:4

There are no words strong enough to comfort someone on the death of their loved one. But we would continue to commit them unto the hands of God who is the ultimate healer and comforter.

I paid a condolence visit to my dear friend, Pastor Ituah Ighodalo to commiserate with him on the passing of his dear wife, late Mrs. Ibidun Ighodalo.

My prayer is that Mrs. Ibidun Ighodalo rests in peace, and that God continues to abide with Pastor Ituah and their loved ones. Amen."

Eniola Badmus is mourning the death of Ibidun Ighodalo. The Nigerian actress who has been left "speechless" by the sad news, recalled how courageous the late beauty queen was.

According to Eniola, sometime back in 2009 when she went for the City People event which was held at TBS, some hoodlums approached her with the intention of robbing. However, the "Ghetto Bred" actress was too afraid to go outside. It was Ibidun Ighodalo that gave her the courage as she faced three of the area boys.

Eniola Badmus also disclosed that the late event planner had wanted to decorate at no cost, the venue where Davido and Chioma got engaged and even for their wedding.
