ANSMEDIA: Anambra International Convention Center, Awka Nears Completion
By Ejike Abana (ABS Government House Correspondent)
Finishing touches at the Anambra International Convention, Awka, one of the legacy projects of Governor Willie Obiano-led administration, is ninety percent complete.
The hint was dropped when Governor Obiano paid an inspection visit to the site, accompanied by some traditional rulers, led by the Chairman of the South East Tradional Rulers' Council, Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe.
The Commissioner for Housing, Architect Michale Okonkwo and the Contractor, Mr. Mark Tu were on ground to recieve and conduct the Governor round the facility.
A renowned Awka stakeholder and former Special Adviser on Inter-Party Affairs, Chief Ben Ndi-Obi, also joined the Governor for the inspection.
On arrival, it was observed that installation of the cooling systems, chairs, sound system, curtains, among other finishing touches were ongoing at the project.
With the notable differences observed, commissioning of the project should be anticipated sooner than expected.
This is an intelligent way to get the best human resources

globemoney: Everyone knows the airport is still work in progress. Would you rather the Gov does not open the airport for operations until full completion and stand the risk of it being abandoned by the next government or open it as right now while work is still going. Did anyone say the airport has been completed. I wonder why people who get poor services from most Nigeria airports will come and complain about Anambra airport that is still being developed. Besides why bring up one negative comment over many positive comments about the airport or you just spent time on facebook searching for a negative comment to post. Please dont distract us
gordonbarrett: When you start with such a phrase "coming for your head" one can only shake his head. You have followed the airport construction from start, you know where the departure lounge is located and so am certain you know that pic is a temporary boarding gate. So how difficult could it be for you to have corrected that erroneous post. No you decided to copy and paste. Someone will go to an airport and only report negative things. Not even a single positive comment. Please it's simple, anyone that doesn't like the airport should not bother going there.
Don't mind those people, it can only be bitterness
ANSMEDIA: Anambra Convention Center To Host Professor Soludo's Swearing-In Ceremony- Governor Obiano
By Ejike Abana (ABS Government House Correspondent)
Anambra Convention Center, Awka, another legacy project of Governor Willie Obiano's administration is being positioned as venue to host the swearing-in ceremony of the Governor-Elect, Professor Chukwuma Soludo.
Governor Obiano stated this today, 3rd January, 2022, during an inspection visit to the project.
He embarked on the visit with some cabinet members of the Traditional Ruler of Aguleri.
While noting that his motivation for the architectural design of the project is the popular 'American Still Jet' which moves silently, Governor Obiano explained that it is one of the best in the American military arsenal, expressing his belief that it is replica of an average onye Anambra.
The Governor projected that with the airport in place, the Center will be viable and put to use all year round, saying that he believes that the contractor is competent enough to deliver on the project.
Speaking on his maintainance and sustainability plans for the project, Governor Obiano hinted that the contractor will be as facility managers to be maintaining the place, because according to him, it is the only way it will last, just like the airport and stadium.
The Contractor of the project, Mr. Mark Tu who explained that the center has a seating capacity of between ten thousand and twelve thousand persons at once, explained that they are rounding off the ceiling and lighting work and about to commence the final painting for the building.
As a Teenager, the excitement that I would spend my Christmas holiday in Fegge was unimaginable. The experience enriched my worldview to the possibility that Charley Nwa Mgbafor was made for a place beyond my prevailing circumstance.
Fegge got me dreaming. A city planned for decent humanity, with a scenery flowing from the banks of the Niger; wetting my fecund mind in the midst of material deprivation. A trip to Fegge is all that was required to give one a sense of urban aesthetics, one that is totally lost upon two generations of Fegge dwellers.
Something in me leads a daily protest -- "Bring Back Fegge!"
It's 10 days to Christmas, and the protest is swelling even deeper. Indeed, the future we seek is in our past.

IGBOSON1: Been waiting to see what the toilets look like. It's hard to tell what part of the terminal they're located. Could you attach the entire video where you screenshotted the pics from?
The airport has been completed and is ready for commercial service. How "completed was PH airport or Enugu airport when they were opened for commercial use? An airport is ready when the critical elements of an airport are ready.. Which are; 1. Runway, 2. Control Tower 3. Fire & Safety Department 4. Emergency Clinic 5. Perimeter fencing 6. Terminal building and basic utilities as toilets, seats, lighting, carousels.
To mention landscaping and avio bridges, escalators, wall interior decorations, internal shops or even car parks which aren't even present in many so-called International airports in Nigeria as criteria to decide an airport is ready is ludicrous.
By the way, Chicago's O'Hare International airport is currently working on trains that transport people between its terminals. Currently, you have to exit one terminal and enter a bus shuttle to get to the next terminal. So in your criteria, Chicago airport is not ready to receive commercial flights because it currently has a huge construction project there building underground trains to link its terminal buildings?
I am actually very happy that they are not showing any more activities at the airport. Those people that shut down the airport should go there and verify things instead of gleaming on social media gossip sites and nairaland to justify their illegal closure of the airport. I wish the state will reinstate their no-pictures order so that mischief-makers will stop posting anything about the airport on social media to mislead people and justify the unjustifiable closure.
ChimaAdeoye: Agreed. I think there is a certain level of confidence in the government that has been restored by Obiano that must be upheld.
i remember the pictures below last year and how i totally doubted that the project would be completed within 18 months as the contract stipulated. Behold, it was done in 15 months!!!
gordonbarrett: Before Fayose left Ekiti govt house, they were shouting "we will arrest and prosecute him". He submitted himself the day he left office, and they are still shopping for evidence up till today. So it's not a new thing. Obiano should be ready for them by now.
SEEPCO of India is investing massively in oil and gas production in Ogbaru area of Anambra State. They are developing infrastructures for their ongoing oil production in Anambra.
Take note that SEEPCO entrance into Anambra quickened the inclusion of Anambra into the list of the oil producing states.
AsomughaChuks05: Very nice. Good to see the flares, it shows production is actually taking place. Where exactly is this location? Anambra East, Anambra West or Ogbaru?
It's location is Ogbaru. Ogbaru gave Anambra more oil wells than Otuocha(Anambra north) axis. Infact it was the investment in Ogbaru by SEPCO of India that quickened the listing of Anambra as an oil producing state.
Anambra’s journey to officially becoming an oil-producing state began in 2013 when Orient Petroleum Company, a private firm enterred into partnership with the state government, and started producing oil in the Aguleri basin. But it is the Obiano administration which gave it impetus by designating Oil and Gas as his fourth Pillar of economic development.
In practical terms, Governor Obiano committed resources to stop the practice of accessing some oil prospecting facilities and wells in Anambra through neighboring states with the construction of the 280 metres Aguleri Otu bridge across Omambala river and the Umueje bridge. At Ogbaru Local Government Area years of illegal operations by Sterling Oil Exploration and Energy Producing Company of India in Ogwuaniocha and Ogwuikpele were checkmated while at the Anambra East Local Government Area end, claims by Kogi State over some oil wells are now subject to a fifty-fifty sharing formula, pending final resolution of the boundary claims.
Anambra's journey to oil bearing status is by no means easy, but the tough battle was surmounted thanks to Governor Obiano's wealth of experience in the sector, his doggedness, and deployment of competent hands on the task, the State is now officially an Oil Producing State. Consequently, in the books of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission, the State is entitled to 13% of the sale of petroleum resources from 11 oil wells in its territory, namely, Nzam-1, Alo-1, Ameshi-1, 2, and 3, and Enyie-1, 2 , 3 and 4. There is no gainsaying the positive impact of the new status on the revenue profile of the state as well as the anticipated boost on infrastructural development programme of the government in the years ahead.
Interestingly, the Pillar One: Economic Transformation agenda articulated in The People's Manifesto by the Governor-elect of Anambra State, Prof Chukwuma Soludo keys-in perfectly into the next phase of consolidation on the achievements of the four pillars of economic development of the Obiano administration. According to the Governor-elect: "We aim to transform Anambra State from a dorminantly informal commercial state to a Formal, Productive and Competitive Economy underpinned by rapid industrialization, Agriculture, Commerce, Entertainment/Leisure, and The Creative Economy, and Technology and Innovation, Solid Minerals and Oil and Gas."
All told, the building blocks of development for a safe and secure Anambra State laid under Obiano's blueprint for economic development where everyone has opportunity to create wealth is in sync with Soludo's new deal for a liveable and prosperous homeland.
Chigold101: You just wrote nonsense. If the first Niger bridge which actually passed through Onitsha didn't turn Onitsha and Asaba into New York and New Jersey how would a bridge which is miles outside of Onitsha achieve that.
If Asaba people were progressives like Onitsha people from Tipper junction in across the bridge in Asaba side would have had as much development as Onitsha.
agadez007: The mods do not research topics they push to the front page at all Well the second bridge is bussing out in obosi and not Onitsha, obosi is in idemili north
Obosi is part and parcel of Onitsha metropolitan areas
