My visitor's visa was approved on March 30. Though I initially planned to travel in March but had to postpone till around August since plan changed due to little delay in approving my application.

Please reapply using the new portal with recent documents, you are not losing any spot. You will get a quicker response with the new portal. I did same thing as well.

You can’t link the two applications together. The GCkey is different from the new portal.

You do not have to contact IRCC.

You can have two applications running concurrently. You can’t apply for SOWP using the new portal, it is for SP and VV.

I have a pending visit application for myself and children since last year October in the old porter purpose is to visit my spouse who is on a study permit in Canada.
Since last year no response from IRCC. I got to know of the new portal pls kindly help me out.
1, Can I link the two applications or we should just reapply on the new portal.


2, Do we need to contact IRCC before reapplying in this new portal.


3, If we reapply in the new portal are there chances of quick response because we have spent over 7 months in the old portal just scared of loosing our spot there if reapplying again.

4. Is it possible to have two different active applications at the same time like applying for an open spousal work permit in the new portal with an active visitor visa application in the old portal.

Being a Brazilian PR and applying from Brazil gives you an edge over Nigeria. The Can+ gives you an added advantage also. I think your chances are high though.

1st was submitted on 22nd November and refused on 30th December

2nd was on 5th January and refused on 20th February

SOWP submitted on 22nd February 2022,
-Travelled to Dubai on 4th of April 2022 for vacation (my wife came from Canada to meet me there in Dubai) and I returned to Nigeria on 22nd of April and on 1st of May I sent my new travel record via email to kenya, London and lagos IRCC offices with pictures with my wife.I also submitted it as webform. approval was received today, May 5th- 72days!!!. Pure miracle


I should add that I requested for reconsideration of the visitor's visa that was refused in December, and I did not hear from them until today, they sent a second rejection for the visit visa(that is making three visit visa rejections) followed immediately by an approval for the open work permit

Please, This information is partly correct or not correct at all. I read the persons testimony and no where did he explicitly say Crypto is acceptable source of income or he used crypto to prove his income.

He tendered his futures trading account and trading history via binance. He showed proof of the proceeds and the transfer from his trading account to his normal bank account. This was the major takeaway from his antecode amongst other things he did to prove he account earned the profits.

He didn't use an investment in crypto as evidence of source of funds.

The image attached confirms my claims. That's IRCC's take on cryptocurrency.

@eniola1010 since you're into forex, you can show evidence of your earnings at least for the past six months. Highlight the transfer of profits to your bank account and hope for the best.

Other gurus can weigh in and correct me if I'm mistaken.

Forex and crypto is an acceptable source of income as long as you can proof the source (binance receipt etc)
A moniker recently got PPR by using binance receipts as POF.

Can i say i am into pig business. I have a friends farm that i can go and snap pictures on different days and different cloths with the pig as evidence.

Or i can say i am into POS business in a very busy place and i can snap pictures of me in a POS stand and just do one banner that matches my name

I have put up three applications yet no response to all. I have valid UK and USA visas and good travel history.

First Application: I applied 13th July 2021 to attend a conference, l have not heard anything response till date- Old Portal

Second Application: l reapplied after the September 7 update as relates to family reunification, my son is a PR holder. 12th Oct 2021- Old Portal

Third Application: l reapplied on a new portal for Family reunification 14th April 2022. :New Portal

You can relocate via the Study permit route. Check the Nairaland international student forum for guidelines.

That is not the norm! Your sister was just lucky, between she has 15 years working experience and she is leaving behind her husband and kids (she has strong family ties in Nigeria)

Applications are treated differently depending on the Visa Officer handling it.

If your PR sibling will sponsor the trip you may not need to show bank statement. I’m a PR and my sister recently applied to come visit us. I put the details in an earlier post.

We didn’t include her bank statements at all… almost zero travel history (we didn’t mention she’d been to the uk cos it was more than 5years ago)

I sent my passport to Lagos VFS Apr 7 2022
Received my stamped passport Apr 27 2022

It took approximately 13 working days. Excluding the Easter holidays.


Note: All passports sent to Lagos VFS are being transferred and stamped in Abuja. Hence the reason why passport sent directly to Abuja VFS are stamped and received between 1-5 working days.

I received an email that I requested for application for withdrawal on 25th January the same day I applied. I knew this was an error or glitch because the gcms note I requested in March showed eligibility passed. But I knew there was no time to address that so I just reapplied immediately the same day with same documents.

Submitted same day I received withdrawal letter - 13th April 2022
Eligibility Review - 25th April 2022
Bvl and ppr- 27th April


Immediately I reapplied I sent many webforms and email notifying them of the withdrawal error. I sent both my formal application number and the new one.

I have a valid us visa and travel history. So the only documents I submitted was invitation letter stating I am presenting at a conference, valid us visa, employment letter and a copy of the book I am presenting on.

I will advise you to get your visa before purchasing a flight ticket. A flight ticket purchase doesn’t guarantee a visa approval!

Your children are still minors, so you don’t have to bother yourself about proving home ties for them.

These days you can’t predict IRCC! We have seen people getting a decision two weeks after submission irrespective of the 120 days estimated processing time. It depends on the VO handling your application and how simplified it is.

The timeline recently shared by spouses of international student shows they get a decision between 1-4months.

So grateful for this thread, I’d never have known about the new portal! Again, nairaland has been a great great resource for me.

My sister has travel history to UK but it was over 5 years ago so we didn’t include it at all- so to all intent and purposes, she’s a new traveller! She also recently renewed her passport and got it just before applying- so basically “no travel history”

We indicated that we would fully sponsor her trip so she put $0 and didn’t include any bank statements of her own.


Documents submitted
I wrote an invitation letter and with the letter, I attached
my employment letter,
3 months Paystubs
3 months bank statement (my closing balance was less than $3k),
my birth certificate and hers (showing our parents names),
my marriage certificate and hers (our father signed both)
A few pictures (just as proof of relationship)
PR cards of myself and family

I had mentioned that my husband and I were sponsoring the trip but I didn’t include any of his financial documents (it was a risk I took jare)

She attached the following documents
Her employment letter (she’s gainfully employed and has been working at the same job for 16 years!)
A letter from her husband giving his consent and saying he will take care of their children whilst she’s visiting me
Her awards as most outstanding staff for 2021

No bank statements, leave letter, landed properties etc etc.

I am so glad.

Just make a copy and attach it with the other documents you are submitting.

I am about to submit my passport for stamping and I have been seeing a particular link here to download a consent form, that 2 copies will be required to be filled and submitted with it. But when I did my biometrics, I was given something that looks like a consent form (see attached) together with photocopy of my passport data page and a slip. My question is do I still have to download and fill 2 copies of this consent form or what I was given after biometrics suffices?

Sorry about the delay in your parents application. Medical examination is required if the applicant will be in Canada for more than 6 months.

There is nothing you can really do about the delay but you can contact the MP of your area to inquire from IRCC on their behalf and also request for their GCMS notes to know the stage of their applications.

Hello everyone, I applied for visitor visa for my parents on the 30th of December last year with the new portal.
They completed their biometrics a few days later and it was updated within a week
I even asked them to do medicals which was also updated a few days later too. (I was told that they did not have to medicals as it is not necessary these days by people who got theirs without medicals. I am not sure how.)
Ever since the medical update no other update.
Eligibility has not yet started and background check is still in process.
The processing time is now beyond the application processing time for Nigerian applicants, 102 days. I am sure it is being processed in Kenya because in a reply to a webform to submit the medicals slip obtained, It was highlighted that the file was being processed in Nairobi.
I have sent numerous other webforms as a representative and they have also sent numerous web forms too as the applicants. No response has been received yet.
What else can i do? They are supposed to be in Canada in May.
