INDUCE THE FEMALE CATFISH BY INJECTING OVA PRIM INTO IT DOSAL FIN MUSCLE:


When injecting the female catfish it must be beside the belly or the dorsal fin muscle, and rob where the needle is being penetrated so that the drug can circulate properly in the catfish, the name of this drug is called ova prim. After inducing the female catfish, separate both catfish into a separate pond. After inducing the female catfish leave her a separate large plastic and pour a little water into the pond and cover it for 10 to12 hours.






Note: this whole process should be in the evening to enable the female catfish relax very well.

STRIPPING THE EGG OUT OF THE FEMALE CATFISH:

After the duration of 10-12 hours, GENTLY strip out the eggs from the Female catfish with your hands into a bowl. After doing that, you will need to dissect the male catfish to remove the sperm, then squeeze the white substance out from the sperm bag and pour it into the bowl containing the eggs, then steer gently to mix it together and then add a little water then steer it together and gently pour out the water. Use a plastic spoon and gently put the eggs on the floating net inside the already prepared fish pond. Cover the pond and leave for 24hrs you’ll observe some movement at the bottom of the pond. These movement indicate the eggs has started to hatch into fries.

MATERIALS NEEDED IN CATFISH HATCHERY



Below are the various material needed in catfish hatchery

Vast, mature male and female fish, shrill, blade &scissor, ova prim salt, net, carpet, teaspoon, host (small, medium &big host)



VAST:
A vast can be wooden, plastic tank etc, which is being constructed by the carpenter



CARPET:

This is a very common material that anybody can get, but be very careful on the carpet you purchase. The best carpet for hatching process is the thick carpet and this carpet is being sold by yard. You need 6 to 7 yard.


MATURE MALE AND FEMALE CATFISH (BROOD STOCK)

Fish can be in different sex, it can be male & female. A male fish always have a long slip ply pennies below the anus, male catfish are smaller and narrower than female catfish. The female can grow up to 1 inch larger than the male. Female catfish are wider than the male 11/2 inches in the belly area. The female catfish is also rounder than the male catfish. The head of the male catfish is larger and wider than the female catfish up to 1 inches. The male catfish have longer fin than the female. The male also have a brighter colored fins than the female. Both have two opening in the lower belly area, one for anus and the other for genital. Male genital are raise and sharp like nipple while that of female is rounded right before spawning female genital will be reddish and swollen

SHRILL:
This is an instrument used for the operation of hatching a fish.

OVAPRIM:
This is liquid or drug use to induce the female catfish by injecting her with it before stripping the out the female catfish.

SALT:
The salt and water enable to kill the bacteria that is effected in the egg of the catfish

NET:
This is an instrument which egg will be spread on top of the net into the vast

BLADE:
This instrument is used for cutting through the male catfish to obtain the pituitary gland and the sperm from the male catfish.

PLASTIC TEASPOON:
This is used to mixed the egg during hatching operation

HOST:
This is used for drainage of dirty water and refills it back with clean water

RAISING TURKEY FROM 6/8 WEEKS TO A TABLE SIZE.

This is one of easiest method of making money in Turkey business. This implies that you buy a Turkey of 6 or 8 weeks from farm that raise them from day old and nurture them till they are fully matured.

This is profit expectation from this aspect of Turkey farming:

I use the same 500 Turkey as case study;

Let assume you get your 500 turkey at the rate of #1700 from retail outlets; 500 × 1700 = 850,000.

Each Turkey within this period will consume about 27kg of feed. I will base my estimation onTop feed super pellet #3500/25kg bag. So 27kg of feed would be #3780 × 500 = 1,890,000

Other expenses and labour should not more than 400/per bird × 500= 200,000

Total expenses: 850,000 + 1,890,000 + 200,000 = 2,940,000

Sale: This depends on your location, in places like lagos,Abuja, porthacourt and other big developed cities, A tom of 8 months can go for between 10k - 15k.

South west especially "Ibadan" price for bulk purchase during festive period is around 8 - 9k.

Let assume we sale at 8000× 500 = 4,000,000.

4,000, 0000 - 2,940,000 = 1,060,000/36% net profit.

Note: if they are well manage, there is no reason you should have any mortality, this is because Turkey rarely die when they are of age except you neglected them for too long before you give them their medications. Apart from profit i stated above, you can make more if your Turkey didnt eat up to that feed, you buy your birds less than 1700 or you sell above price listed.

For foreign Turkey, you can get your 4 or 5 weeks at #4,000 or #5,000/bird.

Let say we get them at #5000×500= 2,500,000.

They are heavy eaters, just like broilers, so prepare to spend like 10k/bird on feed 10000 × 500 = 5,000,000.

Other expenses: at 200,000

Total expenses: 2,500,000+ 5,000,000 + 200,000 =7,700,000.

Sale: This also depends on your location but even in worst market place like Ibadan, you sell them nothing less than 20,000.

20,000× 500 =10,000,000

10,000,000 - 7.700,000 = 2.300,000/29.8%

Note: for both local and foreign turkey, you must try as much as possible to buy only males, if you cant get it from one source, try different sources untill they 're competed.
