AustineE1:It is obvious. After losing Lagos to Obi, they vilified Sanwo-olu for not been ethnocentric enough and began to carry out targeted demolitions and victimisation against certain quarters. We also saw the rise of hate disguised as conservatism that reached alarming levels until Trump happened and they began to beg for "Younity". It's a state-backed campaign while maintaining plausible deniability. Reno was recruited and we all can hazard a guess by whom. By his own admittance, he was even promised a VP slot. Laughable. |
seunmsg:I wish you can take a little step back and see how funny you sound. The president is on a journey of nation building and he's doing so with characters like FFK, Ikpeazu and Reno Omokri. It's clear that he sent emissaries to Reno, Bosun, FFK, etc after winning his re-election. They couldn't have come to him because they opposed him until the day of his inauguration. The EFCC recently withdrew the corruption case against FFK while Yahaya Bello was hounded until he "aligned". That is not nation building, that is using Nigeria's common patrimony and state institutions to bribe and blackmail opponents to desist from attacking an already battered reputation. It speaks to a lack of principles and integrity. Just like paying bandits to desist from attacks in order not to make your government look bad. It's optics over substance and only been done to win the next election. No genuine sincerity in fixing real problems. |
seunmsg:The difference is that Buhari considered Reno inconsequential all through his 8 years and largely ignored him. He knew Reno was just hustling to get noticed but couldn't be bothered because his conscience is clean. Then enter Tinubu, who started from day one by "buying out" critics from Bosun Tijanni to Daniel Bwala, FFK and now Reno. It exposes a character flaw and simply shows he's a person with checkered past who wouldn't want to continue to get exposed. Questions are also beginning to be asked on whether Tinubu was behind all those sponsored attacks against Buhari considering that all those who previously carried out a coordinated attack against Buhari’s government including Bishop Kukah and even Soyinka, are now on his payroll. If a man calls you derogatory names and you respond by offering him money and position, it does nothing to absolve you of what he called you. It rather reinforces it and says a lot about your moral character. |
Tinubu does everything he can to buy his former critics to his side because he thinks it whitewashes everything they have said about him in the past. It doesn't. It's only a testament of a man with low self-esteem, just like the whole clown-show of having a personal sycophantic anthem. |
Agbadorians no longer dispute that Tinubu has failed. They only justify his failure by comparing him to others who they insist failed too. Why is Tinubu then seeking re-election? |
DomPerignon:Northern christian indeed. How can an Agbadorian from Kwara who voted Tinubu in 2023 term himself a Northern christian. If you insist that Northern Christians are now lining up to vote Tinubu in the midst of "christian genocide", are the Northern Muslims also queuing up to vote for him? Lessons will be learnt. |
DomPerignon:Continue to cope. Atiku will likely release Nnamdi Kanu on his first day in office. He has publicly maintained that Nnamdi Kanu should be freed. Tinubu shot himself in the foot by convicting Kanu. We know he did it thinking he was appeasing the North but the repercussions are worse than the gains. He would have been smarter to continue to stall his trial until after the elections in 2027. Either ways, he's damned if he does, and damned if he doesn't. |
Streetinvestor2:There will be an awakening of the old Northern-Southeastern alliance in 2027. It will be an alliance built upon mutual trust, equality, equity, respect and reconciliation. |
Validated:Amaechi does not even need to win any Southern state to make the alliance still formidable. A little here and a little there will suffice. Unlike in 2023, a three-horse race will be devastating to Tinubu because there's no guarantee he will win the South while he has lost a significant portion of his Northern votes to Atiku. This explains why Tinubu will do whatever it takes to make sure he's the only Southerner on the ballot but succeeding in that still does not guarantee him victory. Forget the defecting governors, Tinubu is still not loved in the South except in half of Yorubaland. |
No one who voted Atiku in the North in 2023 has changed his mind. Rather, Atiku has gained some of the Northern voters that voted Tinubu in 2023 (Don't forget that Tinubu only won due to 5.6m Northern voters that voted for him). Can Obi say the same about his Southern and even middlebeltern base? If yes, good and fine. He can test this theory in any other political party or contest in the ADC primaries. Any of these outcomes will be fine. 2027 will be a zero-sum game. For every prior voter lost by a 2023 aspirant, another aspirant has gained a vote. If Obi chooses to contest, Tinubu might likely come third or slug out the second position with Obi. |
sarcasmovich:Yes. That's the definition of a democrat. Unlike one other who contested once, stole the election and is doing everything to prevent others from contesting so he can be the only candidate on the ballot in 2027. |
press9jatv:Yet you create a minimum of two threads on ADC and Osun state each day. |
NgeneUkwenu:Time is a gentleman. |
NgeneUkwenu:But same "Hausa" whom you are ethnic profiling gave Tinubu 5.6m votes. Don't forget he barely got 2m votes from his own Southwest region. Even your tin-god knows he can't still win in 2027 without the "Hausa" votes but yet, here you are. I have even seen some Agbadorians saying Tinubu is reluctant to decisively end the insecurity because he needs "Hausa" votes. Ridiculous! NgeneUkwenu, will Tinubu still win the Christian, middlebelt and all the Southern votes? We will all learn politics together! |
NgeneUkwenu:Except that Ttalk is a certified Agbadorian like yourself. Tinubu has proven times without number that he loathes those who outdo themselves to support him and does everything he can to buy out those who oppose him. We've seen it in his ministerial list, we saw it with Daniel Bwala, opposition governors and now with Reno Omokri. It's a strategy that is both selfish and demoralising to his supporters. It will also prove to be counterproductive. Time is a gentleman. Behold! Tinubu's Ambassador.
|
Punch and TheNation, Tinubu's newspapers are outdoing themselves. We know it is borne out of fear and uncertainty. Obi is part of the coalition and will contest in the party primaries. Whatever happens after that is not a matter of speculation. What is certain is that Tinubu will have a very formidable opposition in 2027, no matter how he tries to change that. |
Flangelo12:This same Bishop Kukah who testified before the US congress claiming there was genocide barely 4 years ago? He should tender an unreserved apology to Elrufai and Buhari both of whom his likes spent years soiling their names. It is now clear that it was all about compensation, appointments and political patronage. The only thing that has changed between then and now, is that Tinubu is willing to succumb to their blackmail by offering them appointments and placing them on payroll.
|
Biodun556:What's wrong with that, Biodun? Tinubu lobbied to be VP to Buhari in 2015 but was rejected due to muslim-muslim factor. |
Why is the APC seemingly also using insecurity as a campaign tool? Just like in Kano, only in Nigeria will a sitting minister of defence be using insecurity to campaign against the governor of his state who is in opposition. |
Only the Guilty are Afraid - James Hardley Chase |
A thread infested by Agbadorians to feel good about themselves and catch a break. There's no faction in the ADC. That ship has sailed. Paying Punch to say so changes nothing. Tinubu should prepare to meet his opponents at the polls. A master strategist that is scared of competition. |
FCT Minister or Minister of Land and Survey? |
Putinofrussia:Come back after 2027 elections and compare notes with him. |
This Ikwere man should rest on land matters na. The ghost of Yerima clearly still hunts Wike. His stocks really took a big hit. He was even encouraging mutiny in the armed forces by saying in a press conference post-incidence that Lt. Yerima should have disobeyed a "wrong order". Wike has no advisers. He should take this as an L and move on already. Nigerians have moved on. |
seunmsg:Everything is politics to you. America sent its elite force to come into Nigeria to rescue an ordinary citizen that was held hostage by terrorists. The citizen was also not on official assignment, he was just a citizen. Look at you justifying the lethargy displayed by a government when one of its past Presidents was in a dire situation, and yet, you want the rest of Africa to respect Tinubu. With the amount of resources being invested to prevent Jonathan from contesting, we know you all and your principal were praying for the worst to happen. If it is to attempt to invade Niger for the applause of his French owners, that's where we will find him. |
EyeCumInPeace:Tinubu has no pathway to re-election come 2027. He will win only if he's the only candidate on the ballot. |
If you want to shoot, shoot don't talk. |
Seeing the signs already, innit? Lessons will be learnt! |
Aify147:But Agbadorians said Tinubu is reluctant to deal with the bandits because he doesn't want to lose Northern votes. Make it make sense. |
Any candidate that clinches the ADC coalition ticket will form the next government. |
Here they go again touting another cliché with the state police narrative just like they did with subsidy removal. It's a way for him to absolve himself from responsibility while retaining all personal benefits. State police may be good but it's not a silver bullet. Nigeria is battling terrorism, not petty crime. |
