Penguin2:No need for too much talk. Obi is not even an ADC member, I would have admonished him to decamp. He can't be making demands on a party that he isn't a member of. Why not show Obi's antecedents on all these metrics you highlighted above during his sojourn as Anambra state governor? Zoning was a PDP arrangement. It is not an ADC arrangement, the party has thrown its ticket open. It's a coalition. Feel free to follow Obi to the ZLP. Aregbesola is building his party in the SW. Amaechi is doing same in his constituency. Atiku, Elrufai, Malami, etc are doing the same in their regions. Obi is demanding for the party ticket. Jokes. |
Oga, there's no free ticket in the ADC. Feel free to vote Tinubu or, better still, let Obi go to ZLP. It is also strategic for him to contest independently. Obi is even yet to join the ADC formally even though he has said severally that he's with the coalition. Obi doesn't deserve the ticket more than an Amaechi, for instance, who's willing to contest the party primaries. Give it a rest. The Southeast cannot propel themselves into power without playing the long game. Tinubu did the same after several years in opposition and was even scheming to become a Vice to Buhari in 2015 but for muslim-muslim. He ended up nominating a VP and today, he's president and a Northerner is his Vice with power set to return back to the North in 2027 or 2031. That's politics but you can choose not to play. The ball is in your court. Obi is not an angel. There are no angels in politics but Nigerians deserve the barest minimum, nonetheless and he's still better than most, but certainly not the best. |
Sheuns:Don't mind them. We now know them for who they are. They began their attacks against Buhari from the day of Tinubu's inauguration. Before then, they hailed him as the sweetest thing next to sliced bread. |
Anguldi:He has folded. He's just a Professional Shape-shifter. |
Can he just begin to show workings already? This is not the time for eloquence and content creation. He was CDS before now, incase he might have forgotten. I daresay that's a more hands-on role for him to have shown his capacity. The verdict is out there on his performance. Ministers of defence don't command troops. |
ChiefOloye:Time is a gentleman. If it were truly about "Southern presidency", why has someone destroyed the LP while using Wike to also destroy the PDP that has already zoned it's ticket to the South? The coalition only became a necessity as a result of this destruction of opposition parties. Tinubu presidency is not the equivalent of a Southern presidency. He only won 4 Yoruba states in 2023. He was never voted by the South. Not much has changed. He remains unpopular in the South and is very desperate to be the only Southerner on the ballot, as if that will save him. I support Obi to contest independently. |
Penguin2:Lol. Breaking the Northern establishment indeed. Can he win his re-election as at today without the North. Tinubu didn't campaign in the East in 2023 because he had Northern support. There is no free ticket in the ADC. Every aspirant must contest in the party's primaries. I hope you all know that the North politically has nothing to lose? A Northerner is currently VP and power will return to the North whether in 2027 or 2031. Northerners are strategically positioned to benefit from all possible scenarios. Obi is carrying the fate of his region in his hands. He should do as he pleases. The ZLP is a viable alternative for him. |
For the umpteenth time, Obi has said severally that he's with the coalition. He supported ADC in the Anambra gubernatorial. However, if he isn't, he's also free to try his business elsewhere. He will only be making the prospect of Tinubu coming third a reality because he may edge out Tinubu in the South while Tinubu's Northern base that made him President is all but gone. |
seunmsg:Lol. The data shows that in just two years, Tinubu has already outborrowed all Buhari’s loans combined for the duration of his 8 years. Buhari also had more tangible projects at the end of his first tenure than Tinubu will have. He did all these while paying fuel and electricity subsidies that Tinubu claims to have removed. The proposed budget deficit for next year is also unprecedented, meaning Tinubu will be borrowing even more despite the impending taxation of Nigerians. It's December, the 2025 budget is yet to be implemented and we are still running 2023 and 2024 budgets concurrently. This has never happened. Admit it, Buhari has surpassed your tin-god in all governance metrics. |
Antoeni:Indeed. Tinubu sacked all Service Chiefs while retaining the only Yorubaman amongst them and even promoting him from COAS to CDS. He did this while also retaining the long retired IGP who also happens to be Yoruba. You all are now back to spin a narrative because the new appointees proved to be even more incompetent and worse-off. |
Alaigbo:In other words, Tinubu is running a government of trial and error. Will he also bring back the experienced cohort of 2 sets of NDA RCs that he garrulously retired in a knee-jerk reaction? If you claim Tinubu listens to what Nigerians want, there's a general outcry against Reno Omokri's appointment, why is Tinubu going ahead with it? |
SMH. This is the bane of Tinubu's leadership. The inordinate desire to squash opposition, not necessarily to govern rightly. The best way to squash opposition is to stop the killings and improve security. Gen Musa is not a new appointee, he was CDS who got relieved of his appointment because Tinubu himself found him inadequate. Of course, Nigeria would naturally celebrate his reappointment because his successors appointed by the "talent hunter" turned out to be worse-off. Agbadorians should please allow Gen Musa to do his job. You all praised his sack by Tinubu and hailed Tinubu as a master strategist who has weeded out all coup plotters with the change of service chiefs. What changed? Professional Shape-shifters. |
SlavaUkraini:Are you sure about that? Key takeaway is that Tinubu was faced between choosing Badaru and Matawalle and he chose Matawalle. This says a lot. What does Matawalle have on him and what credential did he demonstrate to Tinubu that made him appoint him as a defence minister? Why even have two ministers in a sensitive ministry like defence that requires unambiguity? It's like having two captains steer a ship. |
Lol. Goodluck to him. The "Southern solidarity" had better work out for his own good. This doesn't seem to be the case as at today. Luckily for him, he still has time. The North made Tinubu president. He didn't win in the South. |
ebukal67x:So how come local contractors are still being owed and we are operating the 2024 budget in December 2025? At this rate, we might as well skip implementation of the 2025 budget entirely. The Nigeria that was handed over to Tinubu was one where a budgeting year began in January and ended in December. Tinubu is still yet to submit the 2026 budget to the National Assembly and has long surpassed Buhari’s borrowings. |
yarimo:Nairalanders, beware of bots! |
yarimo:Nairalanders, beware of bots. |
APC can't even change their tactics. Masters of factions. From federal to states. How can a so-called democrat and master strategist be so afraid of legitimate competition? |
Anything to be in the news and be seen as still powerful. From landgrabbing to IRS and "revenue generation". |
Anything to be in the news and be seen as still powerful. From landgrabbing to IRS and "revenue generation". |
Lol. We told NgeneUkwenu and NL resident Agbadorians that APC is overbloated across the 36 states and will implode, they thought we were mincing words. The same thing happened in Enugu and Ekiti states. APC will eventually resort to disqualification of aspirants across the 36 states to have their preferred candidate clinch the ticket. It's not different from what Tinubu is trying to do at the national level. So much for a self-acclaimed democrat. Where is the internal democracy? Aregbesola has been vindicated. |
Biodun556:And yet he's still in the country, walking free and strategising to dethrone your tin-god. Is your Tinubu scared of Elrufai? Yahaya Bello and Timipre Sylva didn't do half of that before Tinubu declared them wanted. |
madridguy:He who laughs last, laughs best. The Yorubas have proven that no good deed goes unpunished. Expect a sufficient response. |
Dialpad:It's an old interview. His very first on the matter after two years of silence. I wonder why the mods are recycling it. Tinubu betrayed Elrufai. That treachery will be repaid a million fold. |
phemray:Mention any other state in the federation where local government allocations are currently being directly paid to the local government chairmen. |
LivingEarthMan:Is it a new judgment? The supreme Court already ruled on local government autonomy more than two years ago. Instead of Tinubu to implement the judgment, he used it to negotiate with the governors to decamp to the APC. Why is the judgement only being selectively implemented in Osun state? This isn't governance. |
ALTERNATEID:They never needed any help. It was not his job either to go all out to destroy opposition political parties using advantage of being the president. It's undemocratic, dictatorial and an abuse of office. |
fergie001:Dem no dey tell person. |
ALTERNATEID:Hallelujah! Obi need not join the coalition. Just tell Tinubu to stop destroying the Labour party so Obi can contest. The LP and PDP were viable parties two years ago. Even Buhari, a military General didn't undermine democracy in this manner. |
simpleseyi:Is it still lies upon lies? |
madridguy:Okay. I hope this second defection of the members will finally give Tinubu the momentum that previous defections across the country have failed to bring. |
They are defecting from a point of weakness and when their leverage is at an all time low. Wike has lost out. |
