9jii:It's easy to tout the words "work for" but what does that really mean? Unless you expect them to rig the elections for Obi like Wike did in Rivers for Tinubu, then there's only so much they can do. Elections are almost impossible to rig in the North but the people have to be conversant and familiar with whom they are voting for in order to be fully invested. In 2023, Northerners gave Tinubu 5.6m votes out of his 8.3m inspite of their son Atiku being on the ballot. The number could have been more if not for naira and fuel scarcity. It was a payback to the South for the favour done to Buhari. Unfortunately, Tinubu won, turned around and casted northern allies like Elrufai aside and betrayed northern interests in an arrogant manner. A good way for Obi to introduce himself to the North will be to deputise Atiku. By 2031, Atiku will be too old to run anyways and Northerners would have familiarised themselves with Obi enough to return the favour and vote him in as president. It's a thing of pride to a Northerner and a religious obligation to keep one's word which is also why they pay back betrayal with equal fierceness. This is not an emotional analysis. It's reality. |
brown3:Elections cannot be rigged in the North, not when the candidate is unpopular. What Wike did in Rivers can only happen in the South. Tinubu is already buying out all the Southern governors so as to replicate the Rivers template. This is why all APC handles are expecting Peter Obi to be the ticket holder so he can be rigged out while the North looks on with indifference. Southerners will not defend his votes. The North has the advantage of numbers and they are willing to die defending their votes. Peter Obi knows this fact too but I don't think the Obidients know it yet. |
Kobicove:The ADC was not set up to pose a threat to PDP. They were never in the conversation. It was set up to provide a viable political alternative to Nigerians that will remove the incompetent Tinubu from power. |
Softmirror:His 3 media appearances in 24hours yesterday does not suggest that. He's paranoid and for good reasons. The goal for Wike and Tinubu was to destroy all opposition parties, not to unite them under one umbrella. They never saw that coming and now they have their work cut out for them. |
The script has now been flipped against Wike. He'll be the one running helter-skelter now to ensure that the PDP doesn't go into extinction because that would be the end of him. That will also fast-track the defection of the current PDP governors (mostly from the Northern extraction) to the ADC. Expect the mother of all anti-party in 2027. Tinubu normalised and encouraged it, he would be the biggest victim of it. Not all the governors that smile in public with him and name monuments after him genuinely love him? They all know him to be a slave-master and a megalomaniac. You can't buy love neither can you copy respect! |
seunmsg:Promise to who exactly? APC, PDP or ADC? Atiku contested the primaries under PDP in 2023 and he was on the ballot in the general election. He will do the same under ADC in 2027. You're not a stakeholder in the ADC. You should rather be happy that Atiku is making a mistake by contesting again in 2027. |
BuharisBoy:Right. Infact, a repeat of the 3-horse race in 2027 will see Tinubu coming a distant third. This is because Obi will defeat him again convincingly in the South while he will lose majority of the 5.6m votes Northerners gave him in 2023 to Atiku. The Southwest alone cannot make Tinubu win the election. Forget the noise about defections and in-roads in the Southsouth, the data shows that the electorates are not with him over there. |
seunmsg:Otherwise? Does Tinubu have what it takes to galvanise the South behind him if that will not be the case? We all know he doesn't and that explains your fear. Tinubu has no base in the South. He's counting on the North to vote him again in 2027. They won't. He only won 4 states in the Southwest and Rivers state in the Southsouth under questionable circumstances. You are not really in a strong position to determine anything, no thanks to Tinubu's nepotism and sheer incompetence. |
seunmsg:Because Karma is a b.itch. Tinubu brought Buhari out of retirement to remove a Southern President but all of a sudden, you now want a Southern alliance or an all South affair? The leadership of the ADC will decide that via a transparent, free and fair primaries. The party will put its best foot forward, all things considered. But why are you threatened by an Atiku ticket in the ADC or is this borne out of your genuine concern to see ADC under Peter Obi displace Tinubu from Aso Rock. Sule Lamido just told you that Northerners have no qualms supporting Obi for the ticket but your overzealous concerns are beginning to look suspicious. Face your party affairs. |
The Agbadorians will be here to say it's the turn of the South but what they really mean is it's Yoruba turn. |
WorldRichest:Who exactly are "Us"? To do that, you have to first win without the so-called Northern Oligarchs. 5.6m out of his 8.3m votes in 2023 came from the Northern Oligarchs, in case you forgot. Why is your Man Friday still begging Mallam Kwankwaso and sending emissaries to him on a rolling basis to convince him to be his Vice. He has even gone further to sack Ganduje which was one condition that Kwankwaso gave him. Surely, he can just choose an Adewale or Osunbunmi from Kwara or Kogi State to be his Vice. Or can't he? Chest beaters! |
WorldRichest:Stockholm syndrome is a real thing. I'm sure even the President is fast discovering that Nigeria is not Yorubaland. |
seunmsg:Why are you so invested in the internal affairs of the major opposition party in the country? Is it because you care about their quest and want to see them succeed in their desire to oust Tinubu from power? |
WorldRichest:You just got told that some governors from the APC are secretly funding the coalition and you think it's a joke? Expect the mother of all anti-party in 2027. Tinubu normalised and encouraged it, he would be the biggest victim of it. You think it's all the governors that smile in public with him and name monuments after him that genuinely love him? They all know him to be a slave-master and a megalomaniac. You can't buy love neither can you copy respect! |

Typing:I wonder why they fail to grasp this simple fact. All their permutations are done with the assumption that his Northern votes still exists. 80% of Tinubu's voters in the North will no longer vote for him in 2027 and the North gave him 5.6m votes. How many votes did he get in the Southwest because we all know the Southeast and Southsouth didn't vote for him in 2023 neither will they do so in 2027. Tinubu's most fiercest opponents today voted him in 2023, whereas, he has gained little to no new supporter country-wide. Where is his pathway to victory? |
TheNiceGuy:They keep saying Aregbesola is irrelevant but Tinubu wasn't able to win neither Lagos nor Osun in 2023 where he wields little influence, even though they like to deny that it has nothing to with him. All I know is that Tinubu can't have it easy in the Southwest in 2027. The guilt tripping will not work. A godfather that cuts all his godsons to size just to prevent them from ever shinning or surpassing him is not progressive by nature. Tinubu, where are Fashola, Osinbajo, Ambode, Fayemi and many others? You're an Octogenarian with no progidy except sycophants and other mandate-standers. ADC is waxxing strong in Osun, Lagos and across the Southwest.
|
Okay, we hear you Mr Leke. Don't finance the ADC again. Thanks. |
jmoore:RIP. This road along with the Aba-Ikot Ekpene road have been bad for ages but instead of getting the firm commitment of the Federal government to complete the road, Akpabio and Governor Umo Eno used the phantom actualization of the Ibom Deep Sea port as a conditionality for decamping to the APC. |
Elrufai's aide? How does the personal opinion of a twitter user become one by Elrufai's aide? Is it because he supports Elrufai? Is Japhet Omojuwa an aide of the President? |
The whole interview was a PR disaster and it should be embarrassing to any self-respecting APC supporter. At this point, Wike is actually costing the President some votes. He has become a liability. "Amaechi is one of the most corrupt people, while I'm not corrupt, but I like money" - Wike |
These ones are playing to the gallery by appealing to the low self-esteem and megalomania of the President and saying what he needs to hear. That's the only way to eat the crumbs from Tinubu's table. You must wear the emilokan cap too and recite the international anthem of sycophants titled "on your mandate we shall stand". Look at the minions above me screaming "loyalty pays". God forbid! |
Tinubu, close your real estate deal in the carribean island and come back home. There's no Nigerian tourist who's packing his bags and choosing St. Lucia as a vacation destination. |
The momentum the ADC is getting in the North is scary. It's like a whirlwind. What's worse is that Tinubu can no longer improve upon governance. He's already in campaign mood, and the status quo is not good enough. |
Tinubu cannot win Akwa Ibom State in 2027. This is a well established fact. Atiku won the state in 2023 despite the clamour for Southern presidency and even before the hardship brought upon by Tinubu. |
Nukilia:A disgrace. Look at him vituperating and throwing out spit from his oral cavity in the presence of the Vice President. He lives for the media attention. From the body language of the VP, you can tell that he can't wait to be out of there. |
It's a good thing if true. A people-funded party will ignite more passion and encourage active participation. That people are willing to pay to join shows you that Tinubu is done for in 2027. |
If I were Tinubu, I would throw in the towel to avoid the forthcoming embarrassment and disgrace. The momentum of the ADC is unstoppable. |
A little too late. The panic is now spurring the APC into doing the right thing. I thought Tinubu was running the APC via fiat like his personal enterprise? |
Adeleke's defection to APC will cause a power struggle in Osun APC and aggrieved party members will cross-defect to Aregbesola's ADC which is already gaining a strong foothold in Osun. |
Yes, it's expected. Tinubu withheld Osun State local government allocations and gave Adeleke the conditionality to decamp to APC in order to access the funds. In Rivers, it was the suspension of Fubara and declaration of State of Emergency that did the magic. All these attempts to use force to win love will ultimately backfire. Omenka calls it "poaching". |
