Lol. Lukumi people! For the umpteenth time, betrayal is not a way of life. I see it's a cultural thing amongst you people. By 2027, we will compare scores to see if Tinubu's betrayal of Elrufai was worth it or not. Until then, you can keep writing long threads and having a wankfest over it.

Nobody knows what happened. As I said, Oga Nasir was the meeting point of different power, political, economic and pressure groups in the North. In the North, among those groups, some people hate him, they said he is too critical. I think that is because of his high Intellect and he is against easy government money without hard work. His connections spread from high military echelon to high people in corridors of power in the North.

Tinubu and people who came from Lagos may not know the intra power play in the North.

You are 100% spot on! Elrufai is highly connected and he has capacity and intellect to match. I personally feel Tinubu gambled with his re-election by his shabby treatment of Elrufai. None of the northern hawks hovering around Tinubu today can match his workrate but is he even aware of that fact?

You're very smart. I like your analysis and they are very practical and mostly reflect what would happen, save for a few tweaks. Elrufai would not contest for the Presidency in 2027. If Tinubu loses the North as it's bound to happen, Atiku will have the upper hand. Contrary to what most people think, Obi contesting separately on his own will do more damage to Tinubu than if he joins the "coalition". It will kill any talks of "it's the turn of the South" because an alternative will exist in Obi.

I apologise for the generalisation. You sound very polished and I can tell you are quite advanced in age. You are right. No one can really explain what happened. I guess people with future political ambitions who saw Elrufai as a threat engineered the coup, but Tinubu should have done more considering that he publicly appealed to Elrufai to shelve his personal plans and work with him. It would have been far more respectful to not nominate him at all. Needless to say, it left a bitter taste in the mouth of all Northerners and supporters of Elrufai most of whom voted for Tinubu because of Elrufai.

I am not happy at all. Nasir El Rufai fought against different groups including Atiku in the North for Tinubu to become President . Nobody, no single individual fought against different interest groups in the North, including Atiku for Tinubu to become President except Nasir El Rufai. This is against our culture.

Unfortunately the concept of Amana (trust) does not exist in the lexicon of the Yorubas. They behaved true-to-type and backstabbed Malam. Every Northerner of conscience is pained and they will respond appropriately in 2027.

Looking at the performance of the apc in the last general election in Kaduna, I think el rufai is just an empty noise maker. He has no level in Kaduna politics. I think he hid under Buhari to win twice. Apc performed woefully in Kaduna with Buhari not on the ballot. They lost the presidential election and many national and state assembly seats. The party narrowly escaped defeat in the governorship election with some magomago. Uba sani has done a great job so far, by detaching himself from el rufai and uniting the major political forces in Kaduna under the apc.

I respect people like wike and kwankwaso. They have results to show. No cho cho cho. They deliver the votes anytime any day. El rufai has no level in Kaduna politics. Na Buhari influence he dey hide under until the last general election exposed him.

Elrufai was not on the ballot in 2023, Tinubu was. Elrufai would not rig the election like Wike just to make Tinubu president. If that makes him less influential, then time shall tell. We will all learn this politics together.

A more honourable gesture than the Lukumi people who betrayed Elrufai after benefitting off him. Yes, 2027 will indeed be sweet and we will all learn politics together.

Unpopular to who na? Elrufai is popular to the demographics that matter. He's on course to naturally succeed Buhari. The fact that you may not like him changes nothing. APC minions and Area boys have been working on overdrive since yesterday but go on with your "Elrufai is becoming unpopular" narrative if it helps you sleep better. If you have to release a Press Conference to say you are not losing sleep, then I think you are losing sleep. APC is almost like a pariah in the North today and it will only get worse heading into 2027. Where will Tinubu get his votes from? The CPC bloc has all but left the party. APC of today is gradually becoming just a Yoruba affair (Lagos bloc only). We will all learn politics together.

How a self-acclaimed "master strategist" like Tinubu allowed lilliputians like Shehu Sani railroad him into losing a collusus like Elrufai beguiles me. Shehu Sani decamped to the PRP and lost his return bid to the Senate. He decamped to the PDP, contested the gubernatorial primaries and got only 2 votes (i.e. votes from himself and 1 other). He sneaked back into the APC and no-one even noticed. These are the people singing into the President's ears that they can deliver Northern votes for him. Elrufai has almost single-handedly revived the opposition but he's the one who's irrelevant? Anyways, we will all learn politics together.

Someone who single handedly took on the establishment with Buhari a seating president and got his way.....he has gotten the better of 2 presidents,GEJ and Buhari to get to where he is today......do you now think such a man wouldn't have his plans for 2027 laid out and know how to handle atiku,kwakwanso and obi combined with all the power of incumbency.

He only did all he did with the help of collusus like Elrufai who stood by him and helped him resist the Northern cabals. He turned back around to backstab and betray his allies in a classic lukumi manner. These allies are now against him today, who has he replaced Elrufai with? Uba Sani? Lol.

Forming a coalition to take power requires alot to get strong members on your side.

What will el rufai offer governors to join him

Sitting Governors are very powerful in Nigeria and to have a formidable coalition he needs Governors to join him but from the look of things I don't see which Sitting Governor will want to join and contest under SDP.


El rufai himself is not someone who have helped alot of politicians in the country. He isn't someone that command loyalty from any zone of the country hence him being the face of the coalition wont attract much.


Lastly in all of this I know El rufai is only fighting for 2031. Not being relevant and push aside is killing his ambitions.

Not being close to sit of power is disadvantage to his quest but playing opposition will make people see him more.

By 2026, when the Tsunami of the SDP starts ravaging the country, governors (especially Northern governors) will either flow with the tide or risk fading into the abyss. You only need to ask your friends or acquaintances who reside in the North, APC is like a pariah today. The people are desperately crying for alternatives!

Tell me you know nothing about the North without telling me you know nothing about the North. If Tinubu is relying on Ganduje and Shettima to deliver the North to him, then he had better think again. Atiku won ALL Northeastern states in 2023 except Borno that he lost with a slim margin. Tinubu will drop Shettima in 2027 by the way. We will all learn politics together.

With this movement, Tinubu's sojourn in the North has been dealt a fatal blow. Where will his 5.6m northern votes come from? SDP will adopt Atiku for the Presidency. Mind you that Atiku's 2023 votes remain largely untouched. He's now set to consolidate on his margins especially in the North. Can Tinubu do the same in the South, especially with the probability of Peter Obi contesting as well? I think not. 2027 will be a 3-horse race and this time, every region will largely vote for their own son. The region with the largest voting bloc shall triumph. If a coalition with Obi materialises, the election will be over before 12 noon.

Area boys calculated that Elrufai will run for the Presidency in 2027. That was the advise they gave to Tinubu that made him sideline and humiliate Elrufai, his most vocal Northern supporter thinking he will leave the APC to go contest for the Presidency in another party, thereby splitting Northern votes. It was a miscalculation! Northerners will largely vote one-way in 2027 and it will not be for Tinubu. Elrufai need not be on the ballot to influence things. We will all learn politics together.
