Mynd44:We all know who's clandestinely backing Wike to destroy the PDP. We all know who's tacitly killing opposition in Nigeria's democracy by using state resources to destroy virtually all opposition parties all borne out of fear of rejection at the polls. In two electoral cycles in Rivers state, APC didn't field a candidate in the gubernatorial elections. We know who connived with Magnus Abe and Wike to make that happen just to deny Amaechi a base. They then turn around to accuse Amaechi of betraying them. The same strategy is being applied to PDP at the national level. The PDP as a party is dead and its strategic politicians have moved on. How could a so-called Democrat be scared of a fair democratic process? Because they have no credentials to run upon. |
Tinubu and his Agbadorians have persecution complex. Everyone is always betraying Tinubu but he betrays no-one. His 3 deputy governors in 8 years as Lagos State governor "betrayed" him. Ambode betrayed him. Sanwo-olu is the latest "betrayer" because Tinubu couldn't win Lagos due to his unpopularity. They now claim he funded Atiku. Aregbesola "betrayed" him by imposing his cousin, Oyetola on Osun as a successor. Osinbajo betrayed him for daring to aspire and to rescue Nigeria from what we are now beginning to see. His famous speech, "Vote who you know, don't vote for who you don't know" now makes a lot of sense. Elrufai "betrayed" him by sticking with him and incurring a lot of enemies on his behalf just to sell his candidacy in the North. They say because Amaechi was his preferred candidate before the primaries, that means his support to Tinubu was fake. They accuse him of not delivering his state but neither could Tinubu himself, Ganduje, Akpabio, Umahi, Oshiomhole and so many others. He now prefers people like Reno, Bwala, Shehu Sani and other foes who never betrayed him to come and dine where others toiled. The list of betrayals go on and on. Nigerians are not fooled. They know who the master-betrayer is. |
madridguy:Tinubu is a treacherous snake. He betrayed Elrufai, and that will turn out to be his albatross. Just wait and see. No Northern politician can sell Tinubu in the North the way Elrufai did in 2023. |
When did Yorubas stop seeing Elrufai as a messiah? Was it before or after Tinubu betrayed him? The Yorubas have benefitted from Elrufai and then, he was a hero. Allow the Igbos to also benefit. The greatest mistake you will ever make is thinking you have the capacity to choose a leader for the North. Elrufai is a well respected and revered figure in the North and beyond. Your new opinion about him inspired by your treachery is solely your own opinion. P.S: A major reason why majority of Northern electorates (forget the politicians chasing personal benefits) have parted ways with Tinubu is his treatment of Elrufai after he worked so hard to deliver his candidacy. Most of his 5.6m Northern votes were inspired by Elrufai, Tinubu was never popular, even in his Southwest. |
BelieveAfrica:That was all propaganda. They came into power with so much braggadacio and arrogance and now they have been demystified. Buhari is a far better administrator than these Lagos areaboys can ever dream to be. Here are the conversions for the figures to Nigerian Naira using current mid-market rates: 1. $21.5 billion USD = approximately 34.4043 trillion NGN (1 USD = 1,600.20000 NGN) 2. €2.1 billion EUR = approximately 3.7776 trillion NGN (1 EUR = 1,798.867 NGN) 3. 15 billion JPY = approximately 165.1538 billion NGN (1 JPY = 11.010254 NGN) 4. €65 million EUR (grant) = approximately 116.9264 billion NGN (1 EUR = 1,798.867 NGN) |
SmartPolician:This is only the case with Worldbank and IMF loans. The Chinese loans don't come with such clauses and are infrastructure-based loans which are virtually impossible to embezzle. The Chinese loans under Buhari gave us railways, ports, roads and bridges that all Nigerians use till this day with lower interest rates, longer moratorium and no conditionalities. What has Nigeria been using the billions of dollars in worldbank loans under Tinubu for? No tangible project to pinpoint but comes with a lot of conditions like increase in tax rates, removal of subsidies, etc. Why did Tinubu jettison Chinese loans in favour of Bretton-Woods-backed loans? |
How can SURWASH be an intervention of Uba Sani when its a program that began under Elrufai in May 2021 and is set to terminate by June 2027? The program is supported by a $700 million loan from the World Bank, with a mix of Program for Results (PforR) and Investment Project Financing (IPF) components and is being implemented in 6 states including Kaduna. These loans are part of the loans secured by the Elrufai government which Uba Sani is still taking drawdown from while vilifying his predecessor. |
Sponsored propaganda. Under Tuggar, Nigeria has had one of its worst run in terms of diplomacy. From the scuttled invasion of Niger to the ECOWAS exodus and general reputation of the government. The country is also without ambassadors two years into this administration. They are waiting to make the ambassadorial appointments close to the elections to gain political patronage. |
It would have been a smarter approach if the President was distributing the appointments across the entire South. He isn't. He's just concentrating on the Lagos bloc of the Southwest. For a President who won with historically the least margin of victory ever and who failed to win the South and got delivered by 5.6m majority votes from the North, that's a rookie mistake. Now, he appears to have lost the Northern electorates as well as the Southeastern and Southsouthern electorates. All he has in his corner are current politicians across the board whom he has attracted to his side via a mixture of coercion and inducements. |
Someone appears to be in panic! These appointments to bland and obscure agencies while leaving the most relevant to Yorubas, are not what Northern electorates are after. Just improve upon the economy and deliver impactful infrastructure. |
AdesegunSanni89:Are you sure? Atiku won Osun State in 2023. Tinubu only became President via Northern votes. He was soundly rejected by the South including his home-state, Lagos. For his sake, I do hope his Northern votes are intact. It doesn't look so. |
simpleseyi:There you go again talking about Politicians, not the electorates. "Federal Resources?" You mean rigging? Glad to know that you all know and admit that any pathway to Tinubu's re-election cannot be possible without rigging. But brazen rigging as was done in Rivers state cannot be possible in the North. Northerners are not cowards. By the end of 2026, the direction the pendulum will swing will be so clear that anyone attempting to rig elections in the North will be merely signing his death warrant. If Tinubu is so confident of Shettima's ability to deliver, why is he desperately trying to entice Kwankwaso to APC by promising him heaven and earth. Would Northeasterners leave their own son aspiring for President in Atiku just to vote for a VP position that is merely ceremonial and has not brought any tangible progress to their region? After Tinubu's treacherous treatment of Elrufai, Northern politicians are now aware of the value of "Tinubu's promise" and his "ability" to keep his words. They are all dining with a very long spoon. Kwankwaso will do the same, and even if he decamps, he cannot deliver the Northwest to Tinubu. Northerners know that the interference and desecration of the seat of the Emir of Kano being done by the federal government is all in a bid to intimidate Kwankwaso to decamp to APC. Just as was done to Fubara in Rivers. In 2023, more than half of Northern Nigeria ignored their own son just to vote in an ungrateful and arrogant Southwesterner. It will not happen again. Better focus on the South. |
helinues:Lol. I'll keep telling you Southwesterners that, unlike in 2023, there are no 5.6m votes in the North waiting for Tinubu for him to come and collect. Every single vote lost by Tinubu in the North will potentially be added to Atiku's 2023 tally. Forget the politicians decamping. They can hardly influence the electorates again, not with Tinubu's performance thus far. Even with the VP in 2023, Atiku won all the states in the Northeast except Borno, which was marginally won by APC. Atiku will have a clean sweep of Northeast and Northwest in 2027. Take it to the bank! I sincerely hope Tinubu will get enough margins in the South to make up for the potential loss of Northern votes. The Southeast will not vote Tinubu even if heaven falls. The greatest mistake of Tinubu is pandering to politicians and the elites while neglecting the electorates. |
Sharpsharp00123:When did Yorubas stop seeing Elrufai as a messiah? Was it before or after Tinubu betrayed him? The Yorubas have benefitted from Elrufai and then, he was a hero. There never was a time when Northerners rated Reno Omokri. Not in the past, not now, and they won't do so in the future even if he eventually supports a Northerner. Northerners are not cowards nor fairweather personalities and they sure do remember. The only people Reno has successfully fooled and is still fooling are the Southeasterners and now the Yorubas, whom he has named "Lukumi people." Reno is irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. |

You started off the paid article with an achievement of Elrufai, the Qatar Sanibil Project. Uba Sani has been mediocre. There is nothing on ground to show. Kaduna is a cosmopolitan State with very educated electorates, you need more than propaganda to get their votes. After Elrufai's transformational tenure, Kaduna missed the opportunity to continue on same trajectory. |
Is this also one of the master strategist's achievements? Nigeria's image and foreign relations is at an all time low under Tinubu and he scrambles at anything that will give him an iota of legitimacy. The low self esteem is palpable. |
Lol. Why is this same news getting regurgitated and remasticated? Didn't it generate enough buzz as expected? The Northwestern APC politicians have spoken. The Northwestern electorates will reply by 2027. |
kedeojo:Forget Muslim-Muslim, Tinubu was more popular generally in 2023 than he is today. The Tinubu that we have in power today is one that has been tested and demystified. Performance will be the major determinant of the election and on that, Tinubu has failed to deliver. Even the Southwest is not fully in the grasp of Tinubu as you would like to imagine. Your whole postulations are based on Governors delivering their States to Tinubu and I have just showed you how flawed a premise that would be. Unless they intend to be brazen about it like the way Wike "delivered" Rivers to Tinubu. In any case, that can only work in the docile South, it can never be the case in the North. Northerners are not cowards when they are not with you. Anyways, Time is a gentleman. |
kedeojo:Okay, Mr Knower of politics. I simply showed you how "influential" the politicians can be in determining the outcome of an election, barring rigging. Tinubu was more popular in the North in 2023 than he is now. The North gave him 5.6m votes believing he genuinely could turn the country around. He has now been tried and tested and the verdict is out there. Until then, you can sit in Edo State and keep analysing who Northerners will or will not support in 2027. Obi will still best Tinubu in the South if elections hold today. Until Tinubu finds a way to replace the Northern votes he would potentially lose in 2027, he will not win the election. The only other tactics is to bribe and threaten politicians to join the APC and then deny other candidates a political platform as we see happening today. But even that may backfire. |
ILoveNG:Yes. Being a NANS President is a political position. He contested and won. When did being a politician become a crime? Must all politicians be bribed or intimidated to support the government in power? Why are so-called Democrats now scared of a competitive election? Must all opposition be scuttled? Nigeria is not under a dictatorship. |

Manchi25:Where are the people in all these? How many of these people delivered their states solely based on their own strengths in 2023? As at today, barring rigging, the electorates are resolute in their verdict on the administration. This is how influential these politicians were in 2023. - Bola Tinubu failed to deliver Lagos for himself - Bola Tinubu failed to deliver Osun for himself - Muhammadu Buhari failed to deliver Katsina for Tinubu/APC - Barr Simon Bako Lalong failed to deliver Plateau for Tinubu/APC - SP Akpabio failed to deliver Akwa Ibom for Tinubu/APC - DSP Barau failed to deliver Kano for Tinubu/APC - NSA Ribadu failed to deliver Adamawa for Tinubu/APC - Sen. Adams Oshimole failed to deliver Edo for Bola Tinubu/APC - Speaker Abbas failed to deliver Kaduna for Tinubu/APC - Sen Kalu failed to deliver Abia for Tinubu/APC - Hope Uzodinma failed to deliver Imo for Tinubu/APC. - Sen. Adams Oshimole failed to deliver Edo for Bola Tinubu/APC - Ganduje failed to deliver Kano for Tinubu/APC - Gov. Mai Mala failed to deliver Yobe for Tinubu/APC - Alkali failed to deliver Gombe for Tinubu/APC - Sen. Wammako failed to deliver Sokoto for Tinubu/APC - Oyetola failed to deliver Osun for Tinubu/APC - Dave Umahi failed to deliver Ebonyi for Tinubu/APC |
Ttalk:Time is a gentleman. |
FreeStuffsNG:Same way he vowed never to go against his former bosses, Jonathan and Odili? |
Comment sections about Elrufai on social media are now always filled by Southwesterners trying to convince themselves that Elrufai has made a mistake. Shouldn't you all be happy if that were the case? You all saw the capacity of Elrufai in galvanizing the North for Tinubu against the cabals in 2023 and celebrated him for it. The truth is that APC is turning out to be a special purpose vehicle solely for Tinubu's ambition and the party will inevitably implode by 2027. The Northern electorates as at today will largely not vote APC in 2027 and the best thing that has happened to Elrufai was to dissocciate himself from the APC. Forget the financially induced and forced defections using the EFCC for compromised politicians. Northern electorates are determined to vote out Tinubu and with other political parties becoming infiltrated and compromised by the despot in power, the people will always find an alternative. Proper politicking begins next year. |
citizenY:I have said it countless times that Tinubu's betrayal of Elrufai would turn out to be his albatross in the North. Kwankwaso does not trust Tinubu, no-one does. Even the heavyweights purportedly on his side are doing so with a very long spoon and would not go all out to sell Tinubu in 2027 like Elrufai did. |
helinues:Why do APC minions place so much value solely on politicians to deliver Tinubu while neglecting the electorates? Is it because they are now counting on rigging? Obi won 9 states in the South in 2023, Tinubu won only 5 (4 in Southwest and Rivers under questionable circumstances). You seem to be overestimating the impact of politicians on electoral results. Below are the politicians who couldn't deliver Tinubu in 2023. Tinubu has even become more unpopular since then. - Bola Tinubu failed to deliver Lagos for himself - Bola Tinubu failed to deliver Osun for himself - Muhammadu Buhari failed to deliver Katsina for Tinubu/APC - Barr Simon Bako Lalong failed to deliver Plateau for Tinubu/APC - SP Akpabio failed to deliver Akwa Ibom for Tinubu/APC - DSP Barau failed to deliver Kano for Tinubu/APC - NSA Ribadu failed to deliver Adamawa for Tinubu/APC - Sen. Adams Oshimole failed to deliver Edo for Bola Tinubu/APC - Speaker Abbas failed to deliver Kaduna for Tinubu/APC - Sen Kalu failed to deliver Abia for Tinubu/APC - Hope Uzodinma failed to deliver Imo for Tinubu/APC. - Sen. Adams Oshimole failed to deliver Edo for Bola Tinubu/APC - Ganduje failed to deliver Kano for Tinubu/APC - Gov. Mai Mala failed to deliver Yobe for Tinubu/APC - Alkali failed to deliver Gombe for Tinubu/APC - Sen. Wammako failed to deliver Sokoto for Tinubu/APC - Oyetola failed to deliver Osun for Tinubu/APC - Dave Umahi failed to deliver Ebonyi for Tinubu/APC |
AdesegunSanni89:But Tinubu is also actively "mortgaging" Nigeria's future by borrowing trillions from the same World bank with no single tangible project attached to it. Should we conclude that his successor will also not do much as a result of this? |
israelmao:What loan did Elrufai squander? If he is guilty of anything, we all know Elrufai would have been hounded by this vindictive government until he bends the knee as was done to Yahaya Bello, Okowa et al. They tried and found nothing hence resorting to smear campaign. Elrufai is still in the country and a major opposition figure. He ran a largely transparent government in collaboration with the Open Government Partnership. The World bank loan is a performance-based one, the entire 350 million dollars was not disbursed during Elrufai's tenure. Uba Sani is still getting draw-downs from the loan while blaming Elrufai with nothing to show for it besides propaganda and sponsored PR. The intricacies before and after the approval of the loan was largely publicised with Uba Sani as a major player for the approval of the loan. It is on record that Elrufai fell out with the likes of Shehu Sani when they refused to approve the loan that led to Kaduna electorates voting in Uba Sani who stood as a guarantor for the loan. In any case, Elrufai transformed Kaduna through his Urban Renewal programme and made Kaduna State the highest in Northern Nigeria in terms of IGR. His legacies both in Abuja as FCT minister and governor of Kaduna cannot be wished away by mere propaganda. It would do Uba Sani well to focus on governance and try to match the performance of his predecessor. For now, he's clueless and lagging behind. No one will remember Elrufai for what he didn't do, they will only remember him for what he did. Ditto, Uba Sani. |
