Akpabio thinks he's showing support for the president by being a puppet but he's only widening the trust deficit between the government and the citizens. Governance should be built on trust, sincerity and accountability, not sycophancy. Nigeria is not a banana republic. At least not yet.

We know Akpabio has been captured by the President but he shouldn't run the Senate unilaterally like it's his personal inheritance. Taiwo Oyedele himself did not dispute the claims. The house of representatives have observed the discrepancies and are currently investigating. Other senators like Ndume also beg to differ. He cannot come out and say no discrepancies without the Senate carrying out its own investigation. He may think he’s showing support for Tinubu but he's only widening the trust deficit between the government and the citizenry.

Like Emefiele, like Malami. In the end, EFCC will fail to get a conviction. We know it was largely vendetta and media trials. They have little to no evidence.

Leave the politically naïve ones. Tinubu got 5.6m votes from the North. Atiku got virtually all his 7m votes from the North. Kwankwaso got 1.4m votes from Kano. Even Obi himself got circa 2m votes from the North (NC/Middlebelt). Obi got over 90% of votes cast in the South, how much did it amount to? Politics is a game of numbers, not emotions. Tinubu got more votes from Northerners than he got from the South to become president. That was because he had earlier played his politics right. They can keep quarrelling with numbers but data is stubborn.

This is what Tinubu has enabled in Rivers. So long as he wins the state in 2027, that's all that matters to him. Even the dignity and pride of the Rivers people is not his concern.

It's not that deep. Recuse yourself and move on. Some would rather prefer to sit on the fence or play the activist to keep getting that NGO money and we understand, but real change can only be delivered by those who roll up their sleeves and walk the talk. Gov Yusuf was going through a hell of a time with Kwankwaso since he became Governor but he decided to bottle it up, he was emotionally matured as to not make it a media mess as Fubara was doing. Yes, that's the strategy. Obi won the FCT. It only makes sense for a popular ADC member to lead the campaign in the regions where they are most popular. In the same way Obi will not be expected to lead the campaign for ADC candidates in the core North. Besides, Atiku will not be physically campaigning for any candidate in a by-election. Or you should. Aregbesola was the first to introduce school feeding in Nigeria to incentivise enrollment and education. This was later copied by Elrufai in Kaduna and then by Buhari at the national level. These are leaders that recognised a problem and actually did something to address it through policy. That is how nations become great. That was why Awolowo's Education for All was a huge success. The whole world saw how Peller struggled to get a simple acknowledgement from Ishowspeed, the only missing link was education. He would have done better with a little of it. Money can not replace that. The youths are taking the likes of Peller now as role models because he's making money. The adults in the room should not sleep on this.
