PoliticsRe: 2027: ADC Leaders Can’t Be Taken Seriously Until They Offer Alternative Policies by AMINDA: 2:35pm On Jan 26
The V.P hunters are beginning to emerge from the caves. These are the ones who left Tinubu due to muslim-muslim ticket and campaigned against his election. Only for Tinubu to reward them while sidelining those who actually worked to deliver his candidacy, gains all odds. He now claims to be an ardent sipporter of Tinubu. Food-is-ready politicians.

Lol. Imagine the embarrassment. Umahi thinks he's still the governor of Ebonyi state. This gesture should motivate the members to put more scrutiny on the activities going on under that ministry. Especially the coastal road project. How much is Umahi's salary as minister again? I know Agbadorians will be here to tell us how Umahi is a billionaire before politics and how his father is the owner of so many companies.

Yes, I understand. Sowore is not the kind of person we need now. He believes, he's always right and I doubt if he will take advice from anyone.
Everything boils down to doing the right thing as this time to move the country forward.
The right thing is subjective. Atiku will exercise his right to contest his party's primaries. The PDP and LP have zoned their party tickets, that option still exists for whosoever wants zoning. The ADC as a party will be throwing its ticket open for all. Tinubu still exists as an option. No Atiku supporter has prevented you from exploring that option. Stop with the gaslighting already!

I beg to disagree with your submission.

Mr. Peter Obi is only 64 years old. In civil service, he still has a way to go until the retirement age. The man is still energetic, his success records as a private person and public servant is well known, and his integrity as a public servant remains unimpeachable as you are well aware.

In contrast, and this must not be see as an attempt to impugn on the Waziri, he brings more baggage today than was the case before now.

How many times has he run and lost already?. Additionally, like the current occupant of the office, I am not convinced that he possess the requisite energy and dexterity at this time.

Let's face it, the man is 80 years old and shuffles already!. Why do you think a Joe Biden had to vacate the race as a sitting president for a younger Kamara Harris, a woman?.

Sowore is ok by me as a young person, but what about Chibuike Amechi?. The problem I see with Omoyele Sowore is that he does not seem to have, or able gather the enormous financial resources needed to competitively prosecute a presidential election in Nigeria today. The political elites will not give him a chance because he is an outlier.

The Waziri Adamawa needs to bow out while the ovation is still loud. He cannot win on his own and Obidients have made clear that they will not be cunningly used to make him a president.

Even if he succeeds in confiscating the ADC ticket to himself, he would have destroyed the coalition, some of the coalition partners will break ranks and he will be forced to run alone again. He can't win.

Are we to believe that in a population of over 200 million people, the only qualified person to lead us is a 80 years old man?, let'snot even mention the known talking points the APC will campaign against him with. As a supposedly leading nation of Africa, the optics is very bad.

I want to see the Waziri dafault to a statesman and kingmaker. Nigeria's highest office must not become a retirement home for senior citizens.
All this one na grammar. Will Obidients also ask Tinubu to step down after that? Be rest assured that Atiku will be contesting the primaries of the ADC. If he wins, you are at liberty to do whatsoever you please with your votes. No one will be stepping down for anyone. Even Obi himself has made that clear to you all. The bulk of Atiku’s supporters are not on social media, and they do not have nairaland accounts. But they are in the majority. Whatever else you say wouldn't matter. I repeat for emphasis, feel free to do whatever you please with your vote and the votes of those within your sphere of influence, as well.

I repeat 21 apc governors spread across Nigeria delivered a total of 6m votes out of 8m for tinubu in 2023 when he had a lot of battles to face , 90% of his total vote came from party structure, if you like when e reach your coalition turn go and play with party structure next year, you will learn a bitter lesson .

Even cross river state delivered over 100k votes in 2023 for BAt, if you think the tally will be less this time then I have nothing else to tell you, I will just leave you in your delusion.
You are simply going back and forth. I asked you a simple question, if governors is all it takes, why didn't 26 PDP governors deliver Jonathan in 2015? How can a
so-called Southern candidate be celebrating 100k votes in an APC-governed Southern state? Tells you all you need to know.

Oga , Jonathan did not loose because of the north , in 2011 Jonathan won inspite of Buhari's 15m voters cos Gej had the SW , in 2015 Gej lost the major support of the SW , please note this: since 99 the regions that determine the major swing in any election are the SW and NC ,anyone who looses one or both of them with margins is a goner .

2. Let's even humor you with your surmise that it was because gej lost the north , pdp still delivered numbers for gej even with eroded support ,which brings me to my second fact: no incumbent party in nigeria have lost an election by a wide margin no ,matter how unpopular, it will not start now in 2027 .

Finaĺy I have told you it's a numbers game whatever you think tinubu will loose in the North he has tactically made up for with the Governors from the south and north Central who have joined his party.
In all your GEJ analysis, you forgot that Jonathan was well grounded in the South and middlebelt with undoubted support from the people of the South, not just governors. Compare with Tinubu, the so-called Southern candidate who only won elections in 4 Yoruba states across the entire South and had to be carried with 5.6m Northern votes. If you believe Tinubu now enjoys overwhelming support from the South just because their governors defected to claim 250 billion naira, then I have a very potent snake oil to sell to you. Anyways, time is a gentleman.

Okay. In 2023 he was the muslim-muslim candidate and got 5.6m hausa/fulani votes for all his troubles to become president. He now wants to position himself as the Christian candidate in 2027 so he can get Christian votes? What happened to his beautiful relationship with the Northern Muslims? Has he betrayed them as predicted?

benardtotti:
This is the mistake you guys make , it's about getting 25% not about winning the state , it's a numbers game , the 21 governors in 2023 , win or lost gave tinubu a combined 6m votes that's 90% of his votes came from apc states.

Tinubu understood after the election that it's all about the numbers and spread so went all out to get as many governors as possible.
It was not because of the 21 governors. Jonathan had 26 governors and still lost. It was because Northerners gave Tinubu 5.6m out of his 8m votes to pay him back for supporting Buhari in 2015. Northerners keep their words until betrayed. Fortunately, Tinubu has betrayed most of his Northern allies that made that possible. He now feels he can win the South. Time shall tell.

This is the double standards we speak about. It will only pass when the government sincerely tackles the menace head-on. Not by attempting to negotiate with the bandits in so-called "peace deals" in order to gain temporary respite for election winning purposes.

Maybe you should read the topic of the thread again. This time, slowly. Makinde is not requesting support from Tinubu. He is gunning for his seat and justifiably so. Real omoluabis in Yorubaland will no longer sit behind and watch Tinubu and his hirelings brand Makinde a betrayer for contesting against Tinubu. The betrayer tag has become one too many. Osinbajo, Fayemi, Ambode, Aregbesola, Fashola, Sanwo-olu, etc. Who will now succeed Tinubu in the Southwest if everyone is a betrayer? His son, Seyi?

Panic ? Do you understand what panic is ? Someone with almost 30 governors is under panic ? The Apc is boldly telling you where you guys tucked up and you are calling it panic . Wait ! You think a serious politician especially from Kano will suddenly move to the opposition party in his state ( apc) from the ruling party ( nnpp) in an election cycle year for no cogent reason or seeing that his move will give him an advance?

2014 we had governors move from pdp to apc and the following year apc won , 2022 we had governors leave Pdp for a valid reason or openly defy pdp and it's Choice and support apc , we know how it turned out
It's 2026 no governor has openly defied apc or it's leaders, instead opposition governors are queuing to join apc , not one governor has identified with the coalition and you think apc is under panic .

Honestly I pray the opposition leaders are not listening to folks like you online oh, cos the defeat will be so serious , I can assure you it will leave the opposition parties completely destroyed once they loose next year .
Lol. Below are the APC states that couldn't deliver Tinubu even though their governors all won the gubernatorial elections in them effortlessly.

Kaduna
Katsina
Kebbi
Yobe
Gombe
Lagos (Tinubu’s home state and political base)
Nasarawa
Plateau
Ebonyi
Imo

Also, half of the 12 states he "won" like Oyo, Rivers, Benue, etc were not APC-governed states. The influence of governors on electoral outcomes is massively overrated. The people's sentiments and economics play bigger roles, unless APC intends to spill blood.

Those who beat their chests so loudly that Tinubu has the north central under wrap might need to think twice because his votes are being bled by these mass abductions. Furthermore, he's failed to show empathy, and it seems victims and their families are left on their own as they bemoan their fate. What's worse is that the president is jetting out once again after spending the best part of January in Europe.
If not the delusions of Agbadorians, how did Southern Kaduna become Tinubu's stronghold all of a sudden? They voted Obi in 2023. Tinubu thinks throwing appointments at the likes of Bishop Kukah while the government negotiates with bandits in so-called "peace deals" without tackling the problem head-on will be all it will take to get their support. Well, he may be right because even CAN and the rest of their leaders there are compromised and on government payroll. Hence the attempt to cover-up the kidnappings still going on there.

Lol which part of Jigawa? It's just his party was unpopular and northerners were not educated enough about it. Atiku, a fulani man rode on the popular pdp platform and could not defeat Tinubu in fulani stronghold of Northwest. He scored a paltry 100k votes in the regions centre, Kano. He was even performing better in the non fulani areas in Kaduna. He struggled against Tinubu a Yoruba man in fulani dominated katsina, winning him there by just 7k votes, realistically a tie. Yet Tinubu decimated him in Jigawa and zamfara. Atiku is too liberal for the kind of move needed to remove Tinubu. The areas he got voted in the north showed this. If kwankwaso rode on pdp and Atiku on nnpp, Kwankwaso would have performed better than Atiku in the northwest for sure, and that's what I'm proposing in 2027. Mind you, the Kano based man beat Atiku in APC primaries to 2nd place in 2015, behind Buhari and without the dollars that both Atiku spent and Amaechi, Tinubu et al spent on Buhari.
I though you all said the North never voted Tinubu? You now think Northerners keeping their words to repay Tinubu back for supporting Buhari against Jonathan in 2015 is a testament of Atiku’s unpopularity? Tinubu even went further to betray the Northern allies that made that possible. Anyway, since no good deed goes unpunished, we will all learn politics together come 2027.

He’s free to pick the ticket of whatever is left of NNPP. In the alternative, he can forget his presidential ambition in 2027 and go for broke in Kano by joining ADC to work against both Tinubu and Abba Yusuf. If he wins back Kano, that may give him a leverage in 2031 to move to another party and negotiate for the top ticket. For now, his options are very limited.
Same Kwankwaso whom you projected that him joining APC as Vice will singlehandedly handover victory to Tinubu? He's now the one you want to casually dismiss and expect us to believe you? What you Tinubu's lackeys fail to understand is that Kwankwaso did not eventually join APC because of a huge trust deficit. He believed Tinubu would not keep his words and would end up betraying him like he did Elrufai. Most of his political advisers and loyalists also warned him about the same. This is now the general sentiments of most core Norherners about Tinubu and even those still pretending to be with him due to fear and inducement are dining with a very long spoon. If Kwankwaso ends up joining the ADC, the elections can as well be called already because Tinubu can not win an election where the second, third and fourth candidates from last election unites against him.
PoliticsRe: No Presidential ticket for Kwankwaso in 2027, he has been cornered - Keyamo by AMINDA: 7:17am On Jan 26
Anytime you see Tinubu's ministers and appointees suddenly doing media rounds and turning emergency political advisers and analysts, just know there's fire on the mountain. The same happened when Obi joined the ADC. In the last 24 hours, Hanatu Musawa, Dogara, Festus Keyamo, Onanuga, etc have been running helter-skelter from one media house to the other and typing furiously on social media. The panic is palpable.
PoliticsRe: Makinde Turning to Opposition spokesperson after Tinubu rebuff - Ayo Fayose by AMINDA: 7:08am On Jan 26
Is Makinde not opposition? Makinde is a member of the PDP with legitimate ambition to vie for president, for God's sake! Perhaps, Fayose believes because Makinde is Yoruba, he shouldn't contest for president against Tinubu. Why do Agbadorians now scream turn of the South when every single Southerner (Jonathan, Obi, Makinde) is being harassed and disenfranchised from contesting against Tinubu with some already being called betrayers for doing so? The PDP and LP was destroyed by them to achieve this purpose. Does Tinubu want to become the only candidate on the ballot?
PoliticsRe: GBadebo Rhodes Vivour Releases List Of ADC Chairmen In Lagos by AMINDA: 9:43pm On Jan 25
APC's only strategy on winning elections in Lagos is tagging the opposition candidate as Igbo. This predates Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivor. The "drown in the Lagoon" comment of old by the Oba comes to mind and that wasn't against Gbadebo. But in Nigeria, they scream, "It's the turn of the South."

Atiku is not really a big force, he’s just riding on the core north’s willingness to always be in power. In 2023, the born to rule elements in the north rallied round him as their candidate. In previous elections, it was Buhari. If a Kwakwanso or El-Rufai is at the top of a major party’s ticket in a straight election against a southerner, they will get the same votes from these elements.

Put Obi and Atiku on the same ticket with Obi as presidential candidate and Atiku as VP, they will barely get 10% of total vote cast in the north. That’s why all the funny permutation the Obi camp is coming up with can’t fly. That’s why none of Kwankwaso, Tambuwal, El-Rufai etc want to be Obi’s running mate. They know they will lose before 10am.
Look at all the variety of formidable Northern leaders that you have mentioned. Each with their own strengths and peculiarities. Why can't we have the same in the Southwest? Tinubu has branded all of them as betrayers because they dared to aspire. Osinbajo, Fashola, Gbajabiamila, Fayemi, Ambode, Aregbesola, Sanwo-olu (very nearly), and most recently, Makinde. All cut to size and practically destroyed so the whole region can continue to sing the mandate song of one man with no succession plan in sight. It is time for sober reflection in the Southwest. Buhari died abruptly without warning but the North still have a variety of leaders to look up to.
