There are things you do that will endear others to you and some will turn sympathisers against you even when fighting a just cause; Achebe mentioned an incident during the Nigerian Civil War in There Was A Country that turned foreign allies who were in support of the Biafran side during the war I think it was hostage taking. Similarly, I see the same script playing out post-election by attacking, harassing and intimidating others who says something positive or negative that doesn't align with the thoughts and feelings of some supporters. You are only giving others reason not to take your cause serious and this will lead to the eventual downfall of the movement.
