Jobs/VacanciesRe: How Do You Think Unemployment Can Be Minimally/extremely Reduced In Nigeria? by Amplitron: 1:09pm On Mar 05, 2016
People are unemployed because they are not solving anybody's problems. Being employed means that you get money in exchange for solving problems for people (individual or corporate organizations).

The starting point on an individual level is to acquire knowledge, skill and character that can solve problems in your society.

At leadership level the starting point is good continuous mass communication to discourage programs that encourage the lottery mentality and incentivize programs targeted at encouraging problem solving.
FamilyRe: How Can I Make My Son Study Like His Siblings by Amplitron: 11:37am On Mar 05, 2016
@OP,
You will have to invest more of your personal time in learning what motivates the boy. For some children the promise of an extra piece of meat can do wonders while for some it is allowing them to watch cartoon network 4 hours non stop. I hop you get the picture.

Once, you get to know what motivates your boy you can promise more of it if he will study more (set specific objectives e.g if you finish your homework before 6pm you can have the TV remote and decide what channel you want us all to watch for 2 hours).

***Warning***
Make sure you keep your promise and make the reward come quickly for start.
FamilyRe: Life Insurance Payment Is Destroying This Family by Amplitron: 10:57am On Mar 05, 2016
This is a common problem in our society.
I know most people don't like thinking about death but people who live in less dangerous countries than Nigeria write their wills just in case something happens.
The man should have self written his will (with or without a lawyer) and keep a copy securely on https://www.ProxyWill.com to guarantee automated delivery if it is ever needed by your loved ones.

But I'm waiting for part 3 too ooo.

FamilyRe: [agony Of An Orphan] Sign The Documents Or Forget About Your Education Dream by Amplitron: 8:13am On Mar 05, 2016
ProxyWill (https://www.ProxyWill.com) would have solved that girl's problem if only the parents were wise enough to take advantage of such easy service.

How can you be living in a place as dangerous a Nigeria and not have some sort of will to protect your loved ones?

Nigerians don't like thinking about death. They think once they write a will it is an invitation to death. Nothing further from the truth.
Writing a will is very simple except if your life is complicated (you know all those guys with lots of illegitimate children some who they know and some who they don't?).

Christianity EtcRe: Do You Actually Believe In The Existence Of Witches And Wizards? by Amplitron: 8:46pm On Feb 21, 2016
The only real wizards are the ones created by computer programmers e.g Microsoft Office Set up Wizard. All others including witches are just mere figments of people's imagination due to fear and ignorance.

TheArchangel:
You don't mean it undecided lipsrsealed embarassed
Pythagoras and Socrates are they rich? huh
They were not poor. Other than during imprisonment did you ever read of any point in time when they lacked food, clothing, shelter or education? Those things (food, clothing, shelter and education) are a constant day to day struggle for a poor person. The fact that they (PythaSocra) chose to be contented with moderate material things did not mean they were poor.
FamilyRe: Is There Any Advantage Of Being Poor? by Amplitron: 7:07pm On Feb 20, 2016
TheArchangel:
Poverty enables poor people to invent theories, quotes and principles.
The renowned theorists and famous quotations seems to come from poor people since their thought circulate around " why me" which will lead to idea formation> notations >concepts> principles> theories and the likes unlike the richmen who care more about how to increase and shortchange the system.
@Archangel,
People are rich not necessarily because they are shortchanging the system but because they are solving lots of other people's problems and they also have the character that is required to manage abundance. Poor people don't solve other people's problems and basically have not learned the character required to manage abundance. FYI, the best writers, philosophers, scientists, inventors, etc were and are not poor people.

FamilyRe: Is There Any Advantage Of Being Poor? by Amplitron: 3:07pm On Feb 20, 2016
@Mbikte,
What a funny question.
Funny enough there mght be some advantages.
Some people are alive just because they are poor. Give them money and they use it to pursue what will kill them.
With their weak characters it is better for them to stay poor until they build good character that can help them manage success.
BusinessRe: Black Soap Expert, look For Investor To Partner With Me by Amplitron: 1:57pm On Feb 20, 2016
People don't and won't easily drop money just like that unless of course you are pointing a gun at them.
If you are serious about this business you will need to
1 prove that you are capable by providing verifiable references and experiences
2 show that the product is real by providing picture or video evidence
3 show that the product can make money by saying you will provide verifiable sales report.
4 prove that the investor's investment will not die just because you die.

Faith111:
I have seen people who are very great today because of the assets their parents acquired.
My friends dad bought a land in his days for a few hundreds of thousands...She is a young graduate with masters and she job hunted for a good job to no avail ..After her dad's death 3 of them sold d land 15mil..and she got over 4mil which is what she started using for importation, her guy had an average job but with her assistance they got married nd both are doing exceptionally fine with their kids.
I have a relative who after graduation took over his dad's assets and you can't believe that the guy has used that to turn the family's fortune around through biz.
Even my Pastor that has properties worth hundreds of millions began with what his wife got from her dad.
If you stay in Lagos esp Island you will understand how people Destiny have been transformed due to the assets their parents acquired.
You are right on point. Every right thinking person should want to leave legacies (which include assets) for the children.
It is also good to emphasize that leaving lots of assets for children without the character to manage the assets is waste of time.
FamilyRe: What Will Your Children Inherit From You 25yr From Now ??? by Amplitron: 10:14pm On Feb 18, 2016
It is good to leave material things for one's children so as to give them head starts in life. It is even more important to have given them the character required to manage such responsibilities.

Call 767 (the Lagos State Emergencies Number) toll free and give them details that can help them track the man and save his life.

This sight is not uncommon.
Beggars are supposed to be people who just want to get their daily bread (forget about the butter or akara) and move on but these days you see they now have phones. That means they have savings. Sharp guys.

Car TalkRe: When You Are A Car Owner Living In A Compound Full Of Little Kids by Amplitron: 5:27am On Feb 06, 2016
Every time I remember my experience with this I still get goose bumps.
I was about driving out of the compound then last minute I just decided not to take the car out. I walked instead. I came back and learned that a neighbor's son (about 7 years old) is missing. I decided to join the search party. We searched everywhere but didn't find him. So, I decided to comb all adjacent streets as it may be that playing took him too far from home and he couldn't find his way back because they just moved to the area. While out there I got a phone call that they have found the boy. Where? Under my car ! The said he was completely asleep. He had been there for hours. When he was asked how he got there he said he his sister wanted to beat him so he decided to look for the safest place (for his mind oooo) to hide.
He was so well concealed that if I had driven the car out that day he would have easily been crushed. We wouldn't have got to hear the story of how he was hiding there from the sisters that wanted to beat him.

So, always check under and around your car before attempting to drive. Drive out slowly especially in reverse as kids may appear from nowhere. One actually tried to use his "strength" to stop my car from reversing by trying to push it in the forward direction while I was reversing. lol.

great664:
I am sorry Nigeria will never grow nor develop even after 3016 Untill:
We stop seeing each other as Hausa, Igbo, Ijaw or Yoruba but as a Nigerian
Christian stop seeing themselves as superior
Muslim stop feeling superior and playing victimization (as seun give them preferntial treatment on NL) and also Reform Islam and their teaching
Public offices no more Lucrative business venture but passion to serve (Scrap incentives and benefit)
Stop favouritism in all sector, Adamu, Seun and chika, kevwe, Effiong etc will use same JAMB cut-off mark for any University and also pay same Fees
Abolish Local Dialect (even if people won't accept it, just announce it) and introduce PIDGIN ENGLISH as our Lingua Franca
Leave this thrash of many political parties, just introduce only 2, maybe PDP or APC alone.
Remove immunity from office holders (they will surely close thier yansh after shiitingg
Introduce Federation (Imagine Youth as STATE Depending on their Aged Father as FG to provide meal and school fees [ salaries and Allocation] for his Grand Son, will any Father wish that on their generation) Let each state govt Carter for themselves, even LG self so we can hold them responsible..... Like someone pointed that he can't meet Buhari to tell him he us hungry but can go to his monarch palace to do same with confidence of the monarch not turning him around....
Pass a law that Hold political officials accountable for promise heaven on earth (I nor mean Buhari o, at least him nor be first nor will be last)
Lastly but most important Reform our Educational Sector, (Not the type of studying Agric Sci/Eng by drawing Hoe and Defining Agriculture, collect certificate, Come Lagos and go look for job in a bank and be buying Yam while fertile lands are wasting in their village)
Good points.
But who is the superman that will put those things in place? Well, you said we need to wait till 3016. Are you kidding me? 1000 years.lol
PoliticsRe: Can Nigeria Become A Developed Nation? by Amplitron: 9:01pm On Feb 01, 2016
SCHOOLDROPOUT:
With the level of religious dogmatism, do you think that's achievable?
As our thirst for knowledge increases, our willingness to accept vagueness will reduce and dogmatism in all facets will gradually melt away.
So, the short answer to your question is "yes". Time? I don't know.
PoliticsRe: Can Nigeria Become A Developed Nation? by Amplitron: 8:31pm On Feb 01, 2016
Well, developed nations have the following characteristics:
1- Strong sense of identity and shared values
2- High level of literacy which is the direct result of a collective thirst for knowledge and emphasis on same
3- The more problems an individual solves, the richer he becomes
4- Reliance on system and not on individuals
5- Etc

Can Nigeria have all that? Yes, but the only thing stopping us is our lack of thirst for knowledge i.e our willingness to accept vagueness.

It is very selfish to depart and leave your house in disarray. He should have at least put his house in order before leaving. Granted nobody knows when he will leave this earth but the moment you start having children from multiple women or if you have lots of assets that can trigger rivalry that will put your house in disarray it is good for you to put things in order everyday like it is your last.

I find it quite disturbing that most of the commenters agree it's now practically Nigerian to have a total disregard to law and order. It's grieves my heart to know we've finally agreed sanity is far from us as a people. I blame the system that has been weak and ineffective.
Oftentimes I go around our society will total shock and shameful amazement at our display of total respect for sanity and order. Whenever law and order are missing from from a human society, it's essentially close to what Arthur Blair would call an animal farm.
It now behoves on us all to obey societal norms and laws so that our kids can grow up to find a better system for themselves otherwise we ourselves will fail just like the ones before us have woefully failed.
Don't rejoice when your society degrades to a mountain of confusion. As you converse amongst yourself, see how you can alter the negative Nigerian values for positive ones. Let's learn to be disciplined without being supervised. Civilisation has a price.
Gentleman, stop being too serious. it's just a joke. A very creative one at that.
