Politics / Re: What A Soldier Man Said At Oshodi Yesterday. by AmucheJane(f): 8:48pm On Feb 26, 2015 |
privatetisa: As I was passing through the scene yesterday evening raising up my hands as everyone else did, a soldier who was walking along the road with us said: "... you people don't know your right now. Your PVC is your power. Use it to vote for the person that can secure you ......." Obviously, he was saying, we should vote out GEJ who has failed to secure Nigerians. And that we should vote for Buhari who he believed would be able to protect lives and properties of Nigerians. Besides him, I know quite a lot of military men - officers and soldiers, in-service and retired, who 'hate' GEJ more than 'poo'. The truth is that it's only the top brass of the military that may be supporting GEJ. They are the ones that have benefitted and are still benefitting by way of corruption from the war against insurgency. The soldiers and officers that are at the forefront of the war know better. They and their colleagues in the various barracks nationwide know that if not for GEJ and his cohort generals, the ever gallant Nigerian military would have wiped off the so-called Boko Haram insurgents a long time ago without much ado. Ask any military man, especially, the junior ones - who actually are in the majority, about GEJ and hear what he or she will tell you. So far you are very close to him. You will be suprised about the level of contempt for him among them. The only problem for them is that by virtue of their professional ethics, they dare not show their contempt for him publicly. But they are tired. It's only among this set of Nigerians that I have seen an overwhelming, non-tribalistic support for GMB. It's a pity they can't vote. But I tell you, they are privately telling those of us that are their family and friends to massively vote for GMB. They said they are tired of dying like chickens in the hands of Boko Haram. They said that there is more to Boko Haram than we the masses know. They said a lot that will make us really flabbergasted will be revealed after the exit of GEJ from Aso Rock. My keen observation is that it's the Ibos that are mainly supporting GEJ in Nigeria today. Many of them feel that the Yorubas and the Hausas have always conspired to sideline them. Suprisingly though, quite a number of people from GEJ's SS don't like him. They want him out come March 28. But the SE people don't want to hear of it. I realy hate being or sounding tribalistic, but I have no choice this time around. Nigerians, put tribalism aside and collectively save the destiny of your country. Me, I tell you o. The remaining dey your hand. Nonsense |

Politics / Re: THE IMPLICATION Of Obasanjo’s Departure From The PDP – Buhari Campaign Group by AmucheJane(f): 10:35am On Feb 22, 2015 |
1LRNZH: Against the backdrop of the drama acted by former President Olusegun Obasanjo in the course of quitting PDP, Malam Garba Shehu, the Director of Communications of the APC presidential campaign, in an encounter, enjoined other members to leave the PDP and openly shred their membership cards.
How do you describe the alleged moves by the ruling party, PDP, to disorganise the APC ahead of the postponed elections? PDP leaders know they are losing this election, they have seen the handwriting on the wall.
How do you mean? We are aware that they commissioned opinion polls conducted by some outfits domiciled in Israel, UK, US and even Nigeria and the verdict shows they are losing the election. So it is very clear that they just want to hold us down. They decided to employ all antics to hold and slow us down, so that they can do a catch up. Basically, that is their trick and Nigerians fully understand it and that is what is playing out presently.
We learnt that armed security agents besieged your residence recently as well as that of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. How do you take that? Well, is it intended to distract and intimidate our party leaders. The PDP does not want anyone to discuss corruption, the economic degradation and the unspeakable foul play in the NNPC. Neither do they want anybody to discuss the insecurity in Nigeria. If you observe very well, anytime they talk about insecurity in Nigeria, they tend to generalise it as a global phenomenon. What they want is to take away our minds, from these critical issues, to inconsequential issues.
They have been on it since. They started with inconsequential age of Gen. Buhari, later they called him (Buhari) a religious bigot, they later turned into the inconsequential certificate issue; they also went too far to discuss the health of Gen. Buhari; now they are using armed security agents to intimidate our leaders. We know their tricks. It won’t change anything. Nigerians are simply sick and tired of this government. That is the truth.
They are tired of unemployment, their acclaimed fastest growing economy that has no effect on the lives of average Nigerians and in a tailspin. Nigerians are tired of a government that has made corruption a culture and a government that cannot protect lives and property. We must continue to talk about them even when they surround our homes and roads with armed security agents.
There have been reactions on why former President Olusegun Obasanjo left the PDP, openly shredding his membership card. What, in your view, does this portend in the political landscape? The departure of Obasanjo from the PDP, to us, is a welcome development and should be instructive enough to other card carrying members of the PDP to start shredding their own membership cards too! They are just wasting this great country’s time and theirs too! The truth is that the PDP has no solution to the problems facing us as a nation. In fact, they are wasting our time too! It took Obasanjo such a long time to realise this. But I am happy he has come to the point of realisation.
What is the implication of Obasanjo shredding his membership openly? It means PDP is ruined. Being the god father of the party and he left the party, should there be any reason for any reasonable member of the party to remain there? What I expect is that other members of the party should start tearing their cards and getting out of the party. The roof is falling on the house and whoever wants to be saved should get out before the roof crashes on their heads.
Do you see this move by Obasanjo as a form of endorsement of the APC? The APC is a movement. Whoever can read the hand writing on the wall, will realise that Nigerians have seized the opportunity. APC is out of pilot, Nigerians are driving it themselves. They see it as an instrument of change that they desire. Whether the PDP sees it or not is left to them. Change is imminent and APC is fully prepared to bring about the desired change the people are clamouring for.
Amid the claim of lopsided distribution of the permanent voter cards (PVC) by the PDP presidential campaign spokesman,Fani-Kayode, are you optimistic of the general elections holding on the rescheduled dates? We in the APC campaign group don’t have time to discuss Fani-Kayode. We are particular about issues affecting Nigerians. APC didn’t appoint the INEC boss, or his commissioners. It is the PDP-led administration that appointed them. Why are they having problem with them? It is because they don’t want an election that is free, fair and credible?
Are they not putting themselves to ridicule by attacking INEC! As a government that appointed INEC in the first place, coming to take on them in the manner they are doing is laughable! It shows that they don’t even know what they are looking for and what they want for this country. Otherwise, why would they put a commission together and then you begin to fight it?
Why did you put them there in the first instance? If you deliberately ruin INEC, you destroy its responsibility. How do you ensure the integrity and that of the election they will hold? We are only hopeful the election will hold on March 28. The government, as our presidential candidate said, has played its last card. Under the Constitution, they cannot stretch the election beyond that date. It must hold on that date, unless they want to overthrow the Constitution and institute a dictatorship.

Politics / Re: Bury Tenure Extension Idea, Lawmakers Warn Jonathan by AmucheJane(f): 2:53pm On Feb 15, 2015 |
wwwkaycom: Members of the National Assembly have vowed to resist any ploy by President Goodluck Jonathan to extend his tenure by six months on the pretext of insecurity. There has been speculation since the February elections were shifted that the President is on the verge of sending a tenure extension proposal to the National Assembly, using the insecurity in the North-East as an excuse. However, senators and members of the House of Representatives, in separate interviews with SUNDAY PUNCH on Friday, said the President should bury the rumoured plan. On Tuesday, the spokesman of the All Progressives Congress in the Senate, Senator Femi Ojudu, had alleged at a forum that Jonathan had tried to get some members of the National Assembly to elongate his tenure, but that he had so far met a brick wall. He reportedly spoke in Ibadan, Oyo State at a social discourse organised by the Afenifere Renewal Group, held in honour of a former Ekiti State governor, Kayode Fayemi. He had said, “President Jonathan has been begging us to allow him do two more years but the Yoruba must cry out and also be strategic in their call for change. “We are resuming in the next one week and the President might likely bring the proposal for the election to be postponed for the next six months or one year.” But in separate interviews with SUNDAY PUNCH , lawmakers across political parties called on President Jonathan to jettison the idea, if indeed there was such. APC caucus leader and minority leader of the House, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila, dismissed the thought of tenure extension as “baseless and impossible.” He told one of our correspondents that the idea of tenure extension was strange to him since there were no grounds for it. “It will not pass; there will be no support for it. There is no point wasting time and energy on that issue,” he said. The Deputy House Majority Leader, Mr. Leo Ogor, also argued that, tenure extension would not get popular support, and that Jonathan did not have such a plan. The lawmaker from Delta State added, “Mr. President is running a campaign for his election. What does he need tenure extension for? Is he afraid of elections like the APC, who know they will lose?” Another lawmaker from Plateau State, Mr. Bitrus Kaze, said members would oppose a tenure extension proposal because the mood of the nation was not prepared for it. Kaze said, “The mood in the House of Representatives and even the nation right now will not support tenure extension; it will not fly.” Similarly, a member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance from Imo State, Mr. Eddie Mbadiwe, said any plan to extend the elections by six months would be dead on arrival. “Nobody will table such a proposal and even if it comes, it will not pass. There is no way anybody will contemplate tenure extension,” he added. On his part, the Chairman, Senate Committee on National Planning, Senator Barnabas Gemade (APC, Benue North East ), said, “As a democrat who has been the National Chairman of two major political parties in this country in the past, I can never support such an undemocratic arrangement few weeks to a general election that we have been preparing for as a nation for about four years.” Also, the Chairman, Senate Committee on Ethics and Privileges, Senator Ayo Akinyelure, (PDP Ondo Central) described the alleged tenure elongation plot as “a fallacy, cheap blackmail and an unwarranted allegation to heat up the polity” Akinyelure said, “Nobody would bring such bill to the National Assembly except if the person is an enemy of democracy.” A senator from the South West geo- political zone told one of our correspondents in confidence that the plot was real because there were moves by some members of the red chamber to sell the idea to their colleagues before the current break. He said, “I can confirm to you that the idea of tenure elongation was sold to some of us before we went on break.” Other senators who corroborated this view, also on conditions of anonymity, noted the idea might come up when the chambers resume on Tuesday. One of them said, “The real reasons why the election was shifted by six weeks was probably to perfect the tenure elongation saga by using the National Assembly members who would resume next week Tuesday, to execute the plot.” The senators, however, vowed to resist any attempt to extend the tenure of the current administration beyond the May 29 handover date. When contacted, the Chairman, Senate Committee on Information, Media and Public Affairs, Senator Eyinnaya Abaribe, said it was not true that the President planned to use the Senate to extend his tenure. Efforts made to get the reaction of the Peoples Democratic Party were not successful. Calls made to its National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Olisa Metuh, indicated that his telephone line was switched off. Also, the call made to the party’s Director of Media and Publicity, Mr. Olisa Metuh did not connect. www.punchng.com/news/bury-tenure-extension-idea-lawmakers-warn-jonathan/ APC don carry come again, still won't change my mind about voting for Jonathan. One advise to all this APC supporters, learn how to talk. Stop attaching or insulting someone when the person comment, we should all behave maturely not like an illiterate. Action speaks louder than voice, so shouting or insulting won't solve any issue. As for this topic, piece of trash. |
