budaatum: In 2005 after a similar church pastor would have stolen my money, stolen my car, my house and my beautiful twin sister, I was investigating churches with my cousin who manna fell from heaven for and we went to Oyedepo church. But I'll tell you first about Tunde Bakare church. Now that was a sermon. It's been years and I got a hole in my head so stuff leaks out but when I heard Bakare my heart literaly, as did I, leaped up and clapped for him and the congregation got up and joined in too. Quickly, as soon as the sermon ended my cousin and I fled and she said I was crazy! "They don't stand up and clap for Pastor!" I was like, "why not? It was a very good sermon!" And she said, "You are crazy", and warned me not to crazy at Oyedepo church.
On the road first try, moto full, road jam, I'm like "what the fuq!" And returned home, no way putting myself through suffer to mog in Ota from Ikotun! Following Sunday, two hours early while everyone' was still in bed, we arrived. Got to say, the space was neat and tidy, organised, economical, well aired, a decent view wherever one sat. I walked around and checked - na only cousin, me and ushers kuku de that time, though ushers watched with disapproval as I embarrassed my cousin. Just what one would expect from a mathematician, and I wondered if this was for real. I chose a seat near the back despite ushers ushering me front and watched the place fill up. Service began on time, no two hour noise making nonsense! And then Oyedepo preached!
At Bakare's, the feeling I'd had was a teacher teaching "calculus", which was impressive, but as I was leaving, I could see his congregation didn't understand a word he had said. While Oyedepo was going to one day teach calculus to his congregation but knew he had to start from 1 + 1 = 2.
In my own opinion, considering how well he's grown since then, building Oyedepo City and all, I think he qualifies as a competent indyadual who has most definitely been fruitful and multiplied and replenished and subdued and has dominion and is therefore, very blessed. I'm at least very certain that if I ever achieve ⅛ of ⅛ Oyedepo, I would say God blessed me.
I don't agree that he was "milking anyone dry". He is a teacher afterall, and must be paid. But if what Oyedepo is getting is "special curse" then I better tell God to not bless me but "special curse me" instead!
What ya say Ube, shall I oya nana nana na or not? Ok, let's ask.
Anyone here go Oyedepo church 2005? Come tell if it profit you! It is profiting me o. Ha, before before eh. If you mention Oyedepo for my ear, I go bite off the words from your mouth before you finish. Say 'Winners', before you add 'Chapel', In my mind I go dey see private jet dey fly every where. I didn't didn't hide my displeasure about their way of doing things. I had never gone anywhere close to them o. Never listened to any sermon from them o. But, as far as I was concerned, I knew their ways and they were antigospel. For one reason or the other, I became dissatisfied with where I as worshiping and decided to move somewhere else. Ah, if 'Later Rain Assembly' was in my environment, I wld ve considered it, as I like Tunde Bakare well. So, I started praying asking God to direct me where He wld have me worship Him. I didn't want to just move. For two whole yrs, I went to my former Church, was involved in all the activities, but needed to leave that place. Two yrs later, a neighbor invited me to Winners Chapel for his WOFBI graduation. I went just to honour him, not because if the Church. Oh, I enjoyed myself. It was very lively. Everything abt it. I can't explain it. It was like, 'there was light'. After service I went home. I was exhilarant all day. I couldn't even connect the service I had attended to it. Next sunday, I saw myself preparing to go there for first service, afterwards I went to my Church. The very first night vigil I attended there confirmed that I was to become a member there. It was through satellite. On TV. Those people can rise and sit eh. The people saw as cold and prayerless, now I saw rising to pray five times before the service starts. And this is not even prayer meeting o. Na so una dey pray for here? And the prayers all for the Church, new converts and other believers. Only one for personal supplication. Ha. Selflessness. Their Papa, climbed the pulpit, he was wearing white and a red tire. Everybody stood up, I didn't. He was not my pastor. I didn't know him. As that man open his mouth to pray for the Word, something happened that I wld never forget. I was his skeptic. I didn't believe in his ministry. I wasn't there because of him. But, something happened. There was a shift. Like the ground shifted and I saw myself kneeling right under Bishop Oyedepo on the Altar. His hand was on my head and he was making declarations. In a split second, I felt it again. The ground literally shifted, I felt the shift, I found myself sitting where I was. This happened my eyes were opened. I didn't clsoe my eyes to say I was imagining things. I never liked or saw Pa Oyedepo as a man of God to say I was fixated on him. That was my very first time of seeing him on TV. When that encounter took place, I felt the Love for the man enveloping me. I couldn't understand, by I loved him. And still love him today. For two yrs I went back abd forth my Church. It always felt like I was descending from a higher place with the sun and heat, to a lower place with only light, but no heat. That Church teaches a balanced gospel. He teaches Kingdom principles, principles that so many preachers know nothing abt. Step by step scriptures. See testimonies to confirm that was where I shd be. When I joined the work force, I discovered that those people are Workaholics. If you want to follow everything they do church, you'd sleep in Church. They are no casual at all as I thought. You can never know someone by just lookin from outside. |

desiredhome: I wonder how some people will be claiming richest pastor in a country where over 60% are poor? including their members, these are criminal act, if not for money collected everyday inform of tithes, seed etc, through dubious means, what else do they do to become rich? They have failed to realize that the people(contributing) members are the church still they ignore them and be chasing fame, ignoring the purpose of their calling by twisting the Scripture to justify their greed. Investing in bricks rather than human.. And what have you to say to the politicians who do not only steal from you, but make you kill your fellow youths to keep them happily in the game of stealing? They starve you, put guns in yours hands, when they're done using you, they turn their backs on you. When you try to speak up, are arrested and jailed. Why haven't I heard your voice against that? When the Lord promised to make his servants as fruitful and relevant as the Palm Tree, do you have an idea of what He meant? Do you know what a Cider Tree is? That is what the Lord said He wld bless His servants and they wld be as tall, strong and valuable as the cider Tree. What that means is that, no human being outside of God can compare himself to anyone the Lord blesses. Go figure. |

OkaiCorne: The ones I've addressed so far;
1. The seat of Satan
2. The doctrine of Balaam.
Any further clarifications on these ones before I proceed further on the other ones? Your analysis of the doctrines of Balaam is very accurate within scriptural context. Weldone. But, let's add this. THE SEAT OF SATAN We are Christians. We have Church assemblies. The Israelitish Church had the Temple, and in the Temple they had the Mercy Seat. And we are told that the Mercy Seat is where God dwells. In other words, the Seat of God. Today, that Mercy Seat has been tranfered into our individual hearts. We carry it about and are instructed to still gather together in fellowships, as our gathering exults a stronger Presence of God. Now, Whether Jews or Gentile believers When we gather the Mercy Seat rests in our midst (Altho invisible). What do we do when we gather in those assemblies? We talk God. We hear God, we are instructed by God, we exhort and admonish each other by God. Only through His Words Which are His thoughts and ways. Now, come to the SEAT OF SATAN, and as you rightly said, it is the temple of idols. Whether Physically in visible locations or in the Hearts of men as it were. What happens there? Wld they be talking Jesus? Hearing Jesus, being instructed and admonished by Jesus? No. They wld talk about their master satan. Why then shd the Children of God gather and be all about satan? Are you getting my perspective? |

OkaiCorne: here we go;
THE DOCTRINE OF BALAAM
A quick glance at Numbers chapter 22 - 25 tells the story of Balaam, Balak and how the Israelites were seduced into idolatry and fornication.
Particularly Numbers 25 v 1-3; 1 While Israel was staying in Shittim, the men began to indulge in sexual immorality with Moabite women, 2 who invited them to the sacrifices to their gods. The people ate the sacrificial meal and bowed down before these gods. 3 So Israel yoked themselves to the Baal of Peor. And the Lord’s anger burned against them. 4 The Lord said to Moses, “Take all the leaders of these people, kill them and expose them in broad daylight before the Lord, so that the Lord’s fierce anger may turn away from Israel.”
Numbers 31 v 15-18 further shows that Balaam adviced Balak to do this in order to ensure the children of Israel would anger and grieve God so God can destroy them;
15 “Have you allowed all the women to live?” he asked them. 16 “They were the ones who followed Balaam’s advice and enticed the Israelites to be unfaithful to the Lord in the Peor incident, so that a plague struck the Lord’s people. 17 Now kill all the boys. And kill every woman who has slept with a man, 18 but save for yourselves every girl who has never slept with a man.
Anas09, recall that the city of Pergamos was well known for idolatry and sexual immorality as a way of life for those resident there. Even the believers who were called out to live holy lives in service to the Lord still had those justifying and endorsing these traditions & culture in their midst, rather than full obedience to the instructions of Jesus.
Anas09, Do you have any clarification before I proceed further and finalize on the Pergamos church in my next two posts? Going by your analysis here, it shows that the people of Israel committed sin and grieved their God by associating with the wrong company whose eyes, ears and mouths were not with YHWH right? Going bsck to why this thread was opened, if the Children of God kept theirs eyes on the Mark (That is live, and talk their God), the woes that came on them wouldn't have, right? Can't you then see why YHWH doesn't want us Christisns taking our eyes, ears and mouths away from him? The Lord preached the Kingdom of Light all through His ministry on earth without much emphasis of the Kingdom of darkness, that is not because it wasn't there. The doctrines of Balaam the Lord frowns at both in the days of the Apostles and still today, came also by association. Bad company corrupts good manners is what the Lord said. When you keep the wrong company, there's the tendency that you wld live and talk like your associates. It's natural and easier to bend towards evil than to good. That is why i say, let Children of God, talk God. Be profused with the Testimonies of Jesus and treat the kingdom of darkness as our God did. Becos the Lord says 'Guard your heart with all diligence for out of it comes the issues of Life. Prov. 4:23. And He also said that Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. Lk 6:45. As a man's heart is, so is he. What you say, you wld see. All of these can come by associating with the right or wrong company. |

If there is sincere and unconditional love in abundance, everyone would have just enough to meet their needs. Lol. This life is a dog eat dog world. People come with prayer requests (Which is okay), for the orphans to pray for them as they give. You see it clearly that that is their reason for coming. Some even come there to do saraka. Some come to the orphanage with cameras taking pics to post on Facebook to show the world that they are good people who give to the orphans. |

butterfly777: Hummmnn. Lesson for ministers of the gospel. Especially those who systemically beg, or even take bank loans. Yes sir. Something happened once. After I had this revelation. A pastor friend counselled that I raise Financial partners for my Charity foundation. He said I shd raise a Partnership form and give to trusted friends for their partnership. I told him about this revelation. That God warned me never to beg. But he told me that I wldnt be begging. That that wasn't begging. Okay, I decided to give it a try. I raise the Form. But before I told anyone abt it, I decided to wait on the Lord to get His perspective and approval before I went on . Three days I fasted and prayed saying only one thing. 'If you are in this, show me'. The last day of the fast. I dreamed. I was going g to Church. I got to a point where I was to cross to the side of my Church. In the middle of the road, some man just appeared in the middle of the road. I was confused where he had come from all.of a sudden. My eyes Nd interest were on him. I forgot I was in the middle of the road, a car took me. The speed that car took me, there was no way I wld survive it, but I woke up from that dream panting like a ran up a mountain. For, me, when I dream, the interpretation comes immediately. I just heard it, in my Spirit "If you take yours eyes off me and put them on man, you wld be crushed". jesusjnr: So as not to get it twisted, I made this comment above about us not being doomed because of the devices of the devil.
And I actually made it out of compulsion because I was not comfortable with the conversation which I responded to ending on that particular note, because I thought it was not true that we are doomed because of the devices of the devil.
But I had to wait for over a day to address that erroneous idea since It was actually addressed to the Op and not me. So it was after he left it hanging and didn't correct it, that I did what I thought was appropriate.
And the bolded of that quote clearly shows my thoughts concerning the matter, as have several of my thoughts here which are usually hinged on obedience particularly of Jesus the Word of God which was in the beginning.
Yet I was the one at the receiving end of the most attacks from Anas09, who now claims to be concerned about the Word of God, when she first came here, which led to my leaving at the time when others joined her because of the respect I had for the thread.
Now the same anas09 who launched an attack on me that was emphasizing (the obedience of) the Word of God arguably more than anyone else on this thread, is now vehemently attacking the Op with the excuse of him focusing more on Satan more than the Word of God. So who's really fooling who?
To be continued. What have you now said? From the begin of this thread I told EnthronedbyGod to dwell more on the Word and less of satan. Go back and read. I am a worded believer, not a satan did this and demons did that. |

OkaiCorne: Anas09, Let us set the ball rolling with the church of Pergamos. Before we move into the scriptures in Revelation 2, let's have an brief overview of the historical and culture prevalent in the city of Pergamos as at the time John wrote a letter to them.
HISTORICAL BACKGROUND OF THE CITY OF PERGAMOS Pergamos was a rich ancient Greek city with most of it's income coming from trade by the sea ports and tourism (majorly from visitors thronging the various temples).
For a coastal city as such, which was a melting pot of trade, commerce and tourism, idolatry and sexual immorality was the order of the day and a way of life in a decadent Roman Empire. Devotion to many idols, temple prostitution to glorify the fertility goddess Athena and other sexual immoral acts were seen as the norm, culture and way of life in Pergamos.
The city of Pergamos had three temples dedicated to the worship of the Roman emperor, another for the goddess Athena, and the Great Altar of Zeus, the king of the Greek gods. The Altar of Zeus is what many bible scholars considered as the seat of satan referred to by Jesus in Revelation 2.
I have given a brief summary on the background of the ancient Greek city of Pergamos now in modern day Turkey.
For detailed expose on Pergamos, you can refer to this source; https://www1.cbn.com/700club/seat-satan-ancient-pergamum
I would have pasted more links and resources, but I'm cautious of the anti-spam bot.
Antipas, a church leader at Pergamos was martyred for the sake of the gospel (Revelation 2 v 13). He was roasted alive in a bronze bull for the testimony of Jesus. See picture below for further details. You can also check Foxe's Book of Martyrs on that. Pls no links. Let everything be posted here. You can copy and paste but no links. Continue. |

OkaiCorne: God's mercies are sufficient to help you in this ministry.
Missionary work is one of the less glamorous but very important work required to spread the gospel in remote areas. I am thinking hard of how to make the system organized and better welfare wise for missionaries. I wonder how most of them in the remote areas survive.
Then as for the less privileged you cater for, I'm sure there's something you can relate with, there's no way you help this people and God will ignore you. I await more testimonies in this regard. When there's a will there's a way. With a Vision comes the Provisions. He provides. Once, I needed help so bad, I went to sleep with that burden. I dreamed asking an old friend for financial assistance. He gave me much more than I asked. I was so happy because it wld meet my need and more. As I was rejoicing, I heard a gentle but stern voice behind me saying 'Never Beg to Do My Work, I can Provide for Myself'. Ha! Although that voice was gentle, but it startled me so badly when i woke up. So I have learned to depend solely on His divine Providence. He is Jehovah Jireh, the Lord who provides. |
