Presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has asked the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Abubakar Atiku to step down for him (Tinubu) ahead of the February 2023 presidential election.

Tinubu stated this while speaking at an interactive session with some Northern leaders under the auspices of Arewa Joint Committee on Monday.

He said, “I was one of the youngest strategists with Shehu Musa Yar’adua. I started here in the North. Atiku met me with Yar’adua after he left Nigeria Customs at the time. He met me strategizing for Yar’adua. I’m standing before you saying this, even my greatest rival met me with Yar’Adua; [that is] Atiku Abubakar. Ask him to go and read the civil service regulation.”

Tinubu asked Atiku to reciprocate the “gesture” he accorded him when he contested for the presidency under the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in 2007.

He further stated, ““I supported Atiku Abubakar in 2007 then. Don’t blame me if I ask for a payback period. It’s payback. Let him endorse me now instead of him conducting rally around Kaduna while I’m talking to you people here.

Controversial Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmed Gumi has revealed what would make him vote for the Labour Party, LP, presidential candidate, Peter Obi in 2023.

Gumi assured Obi of his vote if he can restructure Nigeria if elected president in 2023.

He spoke in Kaduna yesterday while playing host to the former Anambra State governor and his running mate, Datti Baba-Ahmed.

Obi and his running mate were in Kaduna to attend an interactive session for presidential candidates organised by a joint committee of Arewa groups in the build up to the 2023 general elections.

However, Gumi commended Obi for visiting and briefing him about his plan for Nigeria.

“As you come here (Kaduna), people will like to hear your views about restructuring Nigeria,” said Gumi. “Nigeria has been restructuring itself from independence to date. It was never static, but I want to know about your views on restructuring so that I can write on my Facebook page `this is the presidential candidate who can do this for me; I will assure him of my vote'”.

Gumi also asked the LP presidential candidate how he intends to address the issues of agitations and poverty in the country.

“How are you going to deal with the issue of polarity and agitations across Nigeria? Every region is agitating because people are not happy. How are you going to make these people (agitators) happy under one table?

“You talked more about the economy; the economy sometimes is more than the figures,” he added.

They were playing with fire for a long time bro, and America just wanted them to dispose off their nuclear arsenal because that's one potential trouble spot solved and because Russia under Yeltsin was having a reasonably good relationship with the US. Not because the US was altruistic in the crises.

Do you understand the imports of the agreement in that very "Treaty" Read about it..

One of the cardinal principles of that treaty is that "any attack on one amounts to an attack on all"! What does that mean?

It means that if any none member of NATO attacks a NATO member country, all NATO member countries must immediately join the war to defend the attacked country!! And who are these NATO member countries? Some of them include Germany, France, Italy, The United States, Britain, Turkey etc.. These are countries with some of the finest armies in the world.., so if they come towards you as a group, you stand almost a zero chance of survival..

How does this relate to the present conflict?

NATO was formed to checkmate the then Soviet Union and the spread of Soviet Communism. Both Ukraine and Russia were all former members of the Soviet Union. Lots gleud relationships between these two, hundreds of kilometers of shared borders and many territories shared during the Soviet era , like Crimea.

The Soviet union had her own agreements with her former members to guard them Incase of an attack from non members: The "Warsaw Pact". This pavt was disbanded following the collapse of the Soviet union but NATO continued even with the demise of the Soviet union for which it was formed. NATO has gone on to accept more members from the former Soviet union, in the process having members from countries having some boundary issues with Russia. If Russia attacks these countries as a result of their petty squabbles, it means that NATO has a constitutional obligation to attack Russia! Basically the start of another world war!

So when folks in Ukraine voted to join The EU and NATO, while they were having issues with Russia all over the place, from Crimea to Donbass, it was obvious that the Ukrainians were desperately trying to internationalize these border squabbles by involving NATO. Russia attacked them to stop them from roping in NATO members, thereby forcing Russia to engage with the whole West. I think it's a reasonable pre emptive strike to ward off some perennial imperialistic intruders. Ukrainians shouldn't have voted to join NATO. And there move to join EU shouldn't have been done to antagonize Russia.
