debosky:

The last time Arsenal lost an opening CL tie, it was to Inter Milan - are you now saying this average Basel is the same quality as Inter of 2003? cheesy Your mates in the CL are beating 3rd placed and 2nd placed teams from Germany and France, you are struggling to beat a Swiss team.

If Chelski were scoring bucketloads and conceding like crazy, then your foolish rantings about Emenalo would make sense. If JM cannot fashion Hazard, Mata, Oscar, and the added KdB, Schurrle, Eto'o etc into a side that are scoring goals the fault is solely his.

Even RdM managed to draw against Italian Champions Juve with the team the same Emenalo built, and this doofus wants us to blame Emenalo for the shambles of JM? cheesy
Word.

Fulaman198:

Not everyone who dey for North speaks Hausa. There are Fulani who don't speak 1 kobo of it as well as Beri-Beri (Kanuri). Although most of the north does speak Hausa (aprox 90 - 95% I estimate) not all do.
It's wrong to claim that about 90-95 percent of people in the north speak Hausa. No be so my brother.
Benue state has no hausa speakers. There are even more Igbo speakers than Hausa speakers there. Kogi has no Hausa speakers, even more Yoruba than Hausa while in Kwara state, less than 20 pecent speak Hausa.
In places like Plateau, Nasarawa, Taraba, Niger, Adamawa and Borno do not have up to 70 percent Hausa speakers.
With this, how come the north has 90-95 percent hausa speakership?. Pure falsehood.

Culture / Re: Igbo Names & Their Meanings by AndreUweh(m): 9:20pm On Sep 16, 2013
ringofGod: hi people... need some help with an ibo name for my son... one that has to do with being a king/being great, being a leader etc..

what does the name obinze mean pls?
The thread clearly says Igbo and here you are typing Ibo. Na wa ooh.
Obinze could mean dirrent things in Igboland. For example name of a place or someone so dear to the heart of the dad who is an Nze title holder.
Igbo names that has to do with kingship are:
Orikaeze, very common in Delta Igbo areas (one who eats like a king), Nwaeze-child of a king, Ezebunafọ (future king) etc.

Culture / Re: Are We Loosing Our Culture To The Yorubas? by AndreUweh(m): 9:09pm On Sep 16, 2013
Wulfruna:

Truth be told, Yoruba culture dey pursue Igbo culture even from its own home. There are children growing up in Enugu today who use words like 'jara', 'ko', 'ashawo' 'agboro' (should be 'agboro') in everyday speech without knowing those words aren't regular Igbo words. I wonder how many Igbo words the Yorubas look like that.

Moi-moi, akamu and akara...Igbos learnt about them from the Yoruba. Igbo women in Igbo villages tie gele; Igbo men in Igbo villages wear the 'fila' cap and even Agbada. I don't know how many Yoruba men wear Isiagu shirt.

The one wey they pain me pass sef is the adoption of 'aso ebi' tradition by the igbos. 'Aso ebi' has become part and parcel of wedding festivities throughout Igboland. Arrghhh!
No culture is static, as a result Igbo culture has aquired some aspects of their neigbours or hosts wherever they find themselves. The English people has gone round the world borrowing other peoples language and culture to enrich heir own heritage. In the U.K, crematation is now being practised yet it was a borrowed culture. A lot of writers now use words such as Czar or Guru to describe an authority. But those words come from Russia and India.
The Yorubas do not travel extensively to the east and that is the reason they have not borrowed much from Igboland. They interacted with the Hausa, Fulani and Hausas north of them before colonialism and today you can see a lot of words from the north that has crept into Yoruba language. Sariki, Walahi, Koboko, alafia etc were all acquired from the north.
On moi-moi, akara and akamu, Ndịgbo did not learn that from the Yorubas. Yorubas call akamụ-ogi, while moi-moi and akara has no proof that Ndịgbo learnt it from the Yorubas.
Yet again, jara is not an Igbo word but it'sn't Yoruba either.
Ndịgbo might have borrowed the aso ebi from the west but other cultures have borrowed the Igbo system of wine carrying i.e where the father gives the daughter a cup of wine to go round and identify her husband. Even the Igbo red hat is now adopted by other cultures.
My post here is not an attempt to justify some Igbo ill-conceived ways of not promoting what is hers, but an attempt to show that every other culture has learnt from another.

Apples and oranges hombre.
United lost to Everton on the first day of the season.
This is Chelsea's fourth league game this season already and they were supposedly building a head of steam entering into this fixture. United at Everton had a makeshift squad that day. Injuries ensured that we had Valencia at right back and Carrick pairing Vidic at center back among the changes. Chelsea today had no major injuries that would warrant such shuffling of the deck. Plus you also had the supposed Special one at the helm and a good number of you folks were confident of a win at the very least before the game started.
Quit the long epistle here. By the way, did United beat them later at O.T when they had a full team?.
Since when has it become an abomination for Chelsea to lose a match?.

Man U won the league last season, yet they lost to Everton at the initial stage of the league. Jose should pick up some positives from the loss and move on.
In my own opinion, Play Eto'o regularly to be sharper than he is now. He is good but a little bit rusty.
Ramirez deserve to be in the bench and to be introduced at the last quarter of every match.

He did not change his name. He has Igbo names and a Yoruba middlename. Hence Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.
Culture / Re: What Is D Cause Of Different Dialects??? by AndreUweh(m): 12:54am On Sep 14, 2013
Interaction with others around you influences one's tongue. An Egba man might have left Ile Ife to settle in Egbaland. In Egbaland he has Ijebus to the east, Ibadans to the North. It's likely that Egbas will now be influenced by their neighbours from Ibadan and Ijebu, more than Ife.
Its similar in Igboland for example, Arọs are settled in different parts of eastern Nigeria-Arọ Ikwerre, Arọndiizuọgụ, Arọchukwu etc. But they all do not speak Arọ dialect. Their tongues are heavely influenced by the environment they found themselves.

Me thinks that Ramirez will be rested this weekend because of long distance trip to Brazlil and two matches there within one week.
Essien or Mikel should deputise.

How about you?

I think I've got so much Igbo feelings to be a moderator in this section.
