Do you know what it means for a GK to beat Man City midfielders in passing drills? Neuer makes a lot of mistakes with his feet and his passing range is not up to Ederson's level despite playing in farmers league. I guess you are confusing sweeping with ball playing/distribution.

People just make unsubstantiated arguments. They think we are saying Ederson is better than Neuer overall.

Check well. No game like that exists. City drew 1-1 with Leeds and lost 1-2 when the league was decided. Neither of the goals was from Ederson gifting a pass to anyone.

Well the only two I can think of are his mistake against united for mctoninay's goal and the one he did against Leeds when you guys drew, that was the season Liverpool won the EPL, MATS makes more errors than him I won't deny chief but I also think he's still slightly better than him in distribution, That's what made him to still be a barça GK today, He was recently lauded for an assist to Auba few weeks back though it was just preseason

United he used his hands to throw the ball to the center. Leeds were not in the EPL when Liverpool won the league.

Because of Man City's possession game, you don't expect Ederson to sweep that much. Liverpool's dangerous high line will always push a proactive GK out. And he has made so many mistakes that led to goals.

I don't know why people don't get it. Data wrongly used can show a GK that has only saved 2 out of 2 penalties 100% save rate and then conclude that he is better than another with 10 saves in 30 attempts.

There is a context to data.

I did not say Eriksen is not complicit. He made the 2nd mistake. The first was made by DDG.

You don't pass the ball to the pressure zone. You pass it out of it. DDG had outlets he did not use them. He passed the ball to the one zone he was not to pass to.

Part of how players are rated for intelligence is the pause-pass test. Technical scouts will pause the play and determine the best zone that a ball should be passed to. Then they play to rate if the player in question passed correctly. Fabregas, Xavi, Messi, Scholes, Bernardo etc excelled/excel in such.

There is nobody who watches that play, frozen and concludes that DDG passed the ball correctly. He did not. It is that simple.

If that pass had gone to Pogba in the same circumstance, he would have maneuvered his way out of the press through sheer strength and his love for ground duels.

Eriksen was a wet pipe. Rodri, Fabinho, Kante, Casemiro and even Partey would have received that ball, beat the press and move the ball along like the incident never happened.

No player should be comfortable on the pitch thinking he won’t be pressed when receiving the ball. It was Eriksen that actually demanded for the ball by darting towards De Gea to receive the ball.

How is that De Gea’s fault?

You can see Eriksen running towards the ball in this image even before the ball left De Gea’s boots. He demanded for the ball and then lost the ball. De Gea could have ignored and passed to Maguire but he doesn’t trust neither Maguire or Shaw.

What am I reading? Neuer is the one who revolutionalized goalkeeping with his ball playing and sweeping ability. Perfect combination of shot stopping with ball playing and sweeping ability. Ederson has nothing on him.

Ederson is better at sweeping and ball playing.

If Neuer is 9.5/10 with his hands he is 8/10 with his legs/feet. Ederson is 7 with his hands and 9.9/10 with his feet. That is what makes Neuer the overall better keeper.

I have told you many times, that wasn’t a De Gea mistake. It was Eriksen’s mistake. De Gea passed to Eriksen, Eriksen got the ball and his pass to another defender was intercepted.

But you are trying to downplay the role Keepers play with their feet. DDG passed the ball to an Eriksen that was already being pressed. Eriksen even had the excuse of not knowing he was being pressed but not DDG who had the full view.

Agenda must not always agend. DDG is absolutely horrific with his legs/feet when it comes to anything that does not involve saving shots.

It’s just that those mistakes weren’t punished but they were mistakes regardless.

I meant mistakes leading to goals. How can I say he has never made a mistake? Even Harry Kane has had his PKs saved.

Ederson is the GOAT in this category, ahead of Neuer and Ter Stegen.

And for the general goalkeeping, Ederson will make Europe's top 15.

Of course, he is top 15. Better at PKs than De Gea. Great at sweeping. Very press-resistant. Very calm. Just that some Keepers are better with their hands. That PSG main GK for e.g is arse with his legs and that is a big problem for them.

Wonder why people are trying to downplay the role keepers have to do with their legs.
