he asked a question here and if you have an answer, you answer rather than make fun out of the whole thing. We are one family and need to help one another, rather than some answers here.

My brother, go to where they sell parts and ask them the price of the oil filter and also find out the cost of the plugs. Some mechanics rip-off many guys and I have fallen a prey to them. I buy most of my car parts and ask them to fix it and I pay them off. You have to understand the kind of car u have and take your time to go around any free day you have to find out the prices of most of the parts you use

Properties › Re: Annoying attitudes of Housing Agents by andyanders: 11:03pm On Jun 12, 2012
I wonder why people say, 90% of them are touts.I will tell you that 99.5% of the so called agents are just confirmed robbers. The difference is that they don't carry live gun but carry all forms of charms along.
I had one in 2003 that collected 300k from me and showed me a place and I paid.He told me that the house will be ready in 3 day's time and that was it and story started. Because I needed to move my family from where I was, I was forced to secure another apartment to secure my family first after spending over 1.5million on the new apartment.

I had to wait and after about some weeks snowballed to months, I found out that I have been duped. I now decided to play along with him, take him out for a drink and coolly told him to look for money same way to pay me cos I was not going to involve the police to get my money. I convinced him to give me a receipt and an agreement that he was owing me and he accepted.I drafted the agreement and gave him to sign.He did and I kept the agreement and kept visiting him as if nothing happened.
One day, I laid an ambush near his office armed with a dagger concealed and I saw someone came out from his office with a receipt of payment and I suspected that the person must have been paid.I quickly went inside and saw his secretary counting money and I grabbed the money and he looked at me and never made any move. I took the money and it was 200k and I pocketed the money and walked out of his office.
The second time I saw him after some months was around Ikeja and I was driving.I quickly asked the person I was with to take over the steering and I came down and rushed behind him and he had this big wallet he use to put in his armpit.I quick from behind grabbed the big wallet and he turned I zipped open and saw a bundle of 100k, I took it and I told him straight that if he makes any move that I will shout at him and get him arrested. He told me to take the money.

Having gotten my money, after about a week, I saw his picture on the front page of Sun Newspapers as an Estate Agent that duped people over 3 million naira in 2003 at LSDPC building at Agege. I went to his office and saw OPC also waiting for him.I took the agreement he gave me and now started a case with him and I now declared that he has not paid me based on the receipt and the agreement which he never remembered that he issued. I ended up collecting an extra 300k for the pain he made me go through. After the whole problem I gave him, one day he saw me and said that among the people he ate their money, that they never came back because he has charms that will make them run away but in my own case, after taking my money, that he ended up having multiple problem.
So now, I decided to have my own property and ran away from their problem as all of them are one. I even built for rent and I give my house out direct to tenants as I dont have any so called agent for my property and I do not collect any agency fees.I also collect only 6 months rent.

So I encourage everyone to get his own property. If you can pay house rent of over 100k, you can build your own house.
Nairaland General › The Controversy Over The Allegation Of Bribe By Otedola To Farouk. Coiled From T by andyanders(op): 5:26pm On Jun 12, 2012

Hon. Lawan
Rep vows not to release ‘evidence of bribe’

THE police have stepped into the cash-for-clearance controversy rocking the House of Representatives.
House member Farouk Lawan is accused of collecting $600,000 bribe from businessman Femi Otedola.
The lawmaker, chairman of the House Committee which probed the fuel subsidy scandal, insists that he reported to a House official that he got cash from the businessman who, he said, wanted his company’s name removed from the list of those who collected money from the Federal Government but imported no products.
But, Otedola maintains that he was blackmailed into parting with the cash and that he told security agencies who, in fact, gave him the dollar bills that Lawan got.
The police have directed Lawan to surrender the “marked” cash. The lawmaker insists he will not because, according to him, it is the only proof he has that he rejected a bribe from Otedola.
Inspector-General of Police M. D. Abubakar has asked a Special Task Force(STF), headed by a Commissioner of Police, Ali Amodu, to examine the issue.
The STF began investigation on May 9, but the police have been having difficulties in retrieving the cash from Lawan.
The Nation yesterday stumbled on some documents, including details of the interaction between the police and Lawan.
In a May 9 memo to Lawan, entitled “Re: Criminal Conspiracy and Attempt to Offer Gratification to Pervert the Course of Justice”, Amodu said: “Consequent upon the publication in the Leadership newspaper of Saturday 28/04/2012 captioned ‘Marketers offered subsidy committee plane load of dollars’, the IGP directed a discreet investigation into the matter.
“The Task Force on the investigation will require meeting with you to assist them in the ongoing investigation at your earliest convenience. Your cooperation will be highly appreciated, please.”
In a follow-up letter to Lawan on May 16, (Re: Criminal conspiracy and attempt to offer gratification to pervert the course of justice), CP Ali said: “Further to my letter dated 9th May, 2012 in respect of the above subject matter, and the recent meeting you held with DCP Peace Abdallah, you are requested to avail this office with the following requests:
Monetary exhibit; Names of the vital witness; and any other material evidence that may be of use to this investigation. Your usual co-operation would be highly appreciated. Accept the best wishes of the Inspector-General of Police please.”
But Lawan, in his response on May 31 (Re: Criminal Conspiracy and Attempt to Offer Gratification to Pervert the Course of Justice) said: “I refer to your letter of 16th May, 2012, and wish to inform you that as DCP Peace Abdallah was briefed, the subject matter was referred to the relevant Committee of the House of Representatives for further legislative action. You shall be availed of the outcome in due course.”
Ali replied Lawan on June 4, in a memo which was entitled “Investigation activities: Letter of invitation in a case of criminal conspiracy and attempt to pervert the course of justice by offering gratification.”
The letter said: “I refer to a letter dated 31st May, 2012 addressed to this office by Hon. Farouk Lawan, the Chairman of House of Representatives Ad-hoc Committee on the Monitoring of the Subsidy Regime on the above subject matter (copy attached) and to inform you that the Inspector General of Police has directed a detailed criminal investigation into the matter.
“Consequently, the Hon. Speaker is requested to ask the Chairman, Hon. Farouk Lawan and the Secretary of the Committee to have a meeting with the under-signed on Thursday 7th June, 2012 at 100hrs at Force Headquarters, Room I.D 068, First Floor, Louis Edet House, Abuja .
“This is to enable detectives to conduct further investigation into the matter.
“While awaiting the Hon. Speaker’s kind consideration of this request, do accept the assurances and esteemed regards of the Inspector- General of Police, please.”
A highly-placed source said: “The butt of the investigation has been on the retrieval of the bribe sum from Lawan by the police. I think some people are planning to relieve him of the evidence in his possession.
“But it was alleged by Otedola that the SSS gave out the money for a sting operation. Why are the police worried about the bribe sum?
“Lawan is prepared to lay the bribe sum only before a court. He does not want his evidence tampered with.
“In the last few days, Lawan has been receiving threat messages from some quarters. And for him to release the evidence he will rely in court to prove his case will amount to suicide. Why are they not disturbing the bribe giver?”
The decision by the House leadership to get to the root of the allegation may, however, slow down the police investigation
According to the documents obtained by our correspondent, the bribe was actually offered on April 24.
Some of the documents contain the transcripts of calls between Farouk and Otedola during the sitting of the committee.
In a hand-written memo to the Chairman of the House Committee on Drugs, Narcotics and Financial Crimes, Adams Jagaba, which is dated April 24 and timed 3.47am, Lawan gave details of what he said transpired between him and Otedola.
The memo said: “You may please recall that I intimated you of the persistence of Mr. Femi Otedola, Chairman Forte Oil, Zenon Oil and AP Petroleum to offer monetary inducement to influence the outcome and Consolidation of the report of the Ad Hoc Committee on Petroleum Subsidy.
“Attached is the sum of five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) only offered to me with another promise of two million, five hundred thousand dollar ($2.5m). I had considered bringing this issue as a matter of privilege on the floor of the House later today when the House sits, but I am concerned the controversy it will generate will dwarf the content of the report which needs public attention so that the necessary reforms in the sector could be effected.
“I however believe that given the desperation of Mr. Otedola, handling this matter in a furious but diplomatic manner is necessary as he has also made some vested threats which put me and members of my Committee in a delicate situation.
“While reporting this matter to you and hoping that appropriate action will be taken, we shall continue to monitor him and if further offers are made, we shall duly handover to your committee.”
The Secretary to the Ad Hoc Committee, Mr. B. C. Emenalo, who also wrote a memo to Lawan on April 24, explained his encounter with Otedola.
The memo, entitled “Consistent Pressure to Compromise by Managing Director and Chairman, Zenon Oil and Gas, AP and Forte”, reads: “My earlier report/discussion with you on the above subject matter and your directives refer.
“I wish to inform you that I was on his invitation, at the residence of their(Zenon Oil and Gas, AP, Forte) Chairman, Mr. Femi Otedola in Maitama, (Aso Drive) this morning and he offered me the sum of One hundred thousand US dollars in two bundles of $50,000 each. The money is hereby forwarded as evidence.
“Please find attached the exhibit for onward transmission to the relevant Committee and Leadership.”
According to sources, although Lawan was allegedly tricked to collect the money at about 3.47am, he sensed the danger and decided to alert Jagaba.
A source said: “On the day the bribe was offered, Lawan left a meeting at about 2.30am but he saw over 50 missed calls from Otedola and became curious on why the oil baron wanted him. He insisted that Lawan must come to his house and they met at about 3.47am.
“Nigerians will hear what they have never heard before on this matter. Let them go to court so that there won’t be any cover-up.
“Let them also play the tape, provided they have not edited it. Nigerians will be able to know the true story.”
Responding to a question, the source said: “Lawan had wanted to raise the alarm on the floor of the House but he was prevailed upon by some members not to do so.
“Actually, there was a division on whether to bring it up immediately or not. But Lawan notified the Representatives and principal members of the House. They asked him to stay action.
“When he could not withstand it, Lawan decided to grant an interview to Leadership newspaper to alert the nation.”
The police investigation of the bribery allegation is said to be at the prompting of some forces in the Presidency.
The House member, insisting on his integrity, released some documents yesterday. One of them shows that the embattled Chairman of the House Ad Hoc Committee on Fuel Subsidy Regime was offered the bribe by Otedola, Chairman of Forte Oil, on April 24 - barely six days after the submission of the panel’s report.
The panel submitted its report on April 18, 2012.
But Lawan actually reported and handed over the controversial $600,000 bribe to the Chairman of the House Committee on Drugs, Narcotics and Financial Crimes, Mr. Adams Jagaba the day it was offered, according to a letter Lawan wrote.
Politics › Re: Subsidy Probe: Otedola Confirms Bribe To Lawmakers by andyanders: 7:29pm On Jun 11, 2012
Otedola's statement is just an acting. He can use any so called SSS as he mentioned by buying them over and informing them to act the way he wanted. Now, common sense will tell you that since he said that Farouk came to his house and he had SSS, why did he not ask them to arrest Farouk in person in his house with the marked money? Why did the SSS allow Farouk to go? This is just a story of a sinking man. You shouted on him when he called you and still went ahead to arrange for SSS and did not arrest him since you gave him marked money? Otedola, this is to show that you are a criminal. With the resent mode of ITC, you can use any form of technology to document any film and have it recorded.
Since Otedola said he is a patriotic Nigerian, he should have refused giving him bribe as he claimed or set him up with marked money and get him arrested.

In fact, I will not even allow such idiot called Otedola say all these if I am an investigator.

I will use blacks here because it's a black-man that is the subject of discuss here.
If it were to be whites, they wouldn't have acted like Mr Dollar's daughter acted. The whites got their own problems but most of the actions of black children in America not all, are nothing to write home about. Most early pregnancies were mostly blacks.
Christianity Etc › Re: Creflo Dollar Arrested For Choking His Daughter by andyanders: 12:03am On Jun 11, 2012
In fact most of the African Americans can't even write or spell their names correctly. I was shocked when I was asked by a 23 yr Black American guy we worked together in same restaurant to help write his name on a back of his payroll check given to him on a pay day 'cos he cant write. I helped him do that but this was same guy accusing a fellow Nigerian guy of Yoruba tribe that we work together that he cant speak English because of his thick ascent.

A 15 yr girl leaving home by 1a.m in the morning to party and we call that her right? If she get killed or molested by gangs in the night, than her father will be accused of not doing the right thing and also as a pastor, he will be called names. He must have been pushed to the wall to have reacted negatively as a result of the young lady's actions on that early hours of the day.
Well those saying she did right should be blessed with such children that will call the cops on you as parents. That is why they get destroyed at early stage. Do you know how many of them that drop out of school as a result of early pregnancy or abuse of drugs? You see kids as young as 7yrs having guns and selling drugs? If you don't know America, then you keep your mouth short.
Yes as a child in America, you got right but same right is destroying most of them.

You said it all. It is very difficult to train or bring up a child in the United states. Also I brought my children back here until they get their first degree and understand what it takes to become someone and be responsible. America is something else as far as it concerns children as it takes the grace of God to bring up a child up in the States.
Pastor Dollar did the right thing but I knew the press over blew the whole thing. The young lady in question is an agent of devil and wants to ruin his daddy's reputation just like the children of Eli in the bilbe.

Politics › Open Letter To President Jonathan By Chinedu Ekeke by andyanders(op): 6:42pm On Jun 09, 2012
OPEN LETTER TO PRESIDENT JONATHAN BY CHINEDU EKEKE

Dear President Jonathan,

I have watched you in the last one year jump from pillar to post under the pretext of governance; clinging to the inconsequential and deliberately ignoring that which the times demand of governance in today’s Nigeria. From the moment you were sworn in as an elected president, it’s been a galore of gaffes and conscious distraction of Nigerians from the things that actually do matter to them.

Within weeks of your Presidency, your first executive move was to amend the constitution so as to allow for president and governors to serve just one term of six years in office. Not sooner than the dust raised by that move settled, you declared an economic war on the Nigerian people with an imposition of fuel tax, called fuel subsidy removal, which was just a way designed for you to avoid confronting your friends and officials who defrauded the country you preside over.

Mr President, you may recall that last October, during a church service to commemorate Nigeria’s Independence Day, you lamented that we condemn you at home while Obama commends you abroad. Even then, we argued that Obama’s commendation of you – whatever it was meant to achieve – was ill-timed and ill-informed. We reasoned that we were the ones who elected you our president and so were best qualified to assess your performance in office. Today, the table has turned. Does Obama still commend you? Just in case you haven’t heard, the United States government has seen you for whom you are – a president who presides over a criminal empire without making any meaningful efforts to curtail corruption. Before you dismiss my message as another baseless rant from a disgruntled opposition member, kindly read this, Sir:

In its year 2011 report on global human rights released Thursday by the State Department, the U.S. said the three tiers of the Nigerian government was ridden with “massive, widespread and pervasive corruption,” that failed to receive appropriate punitive response from the authorities.

“The law provides criminal penalties for official corruption; however, the government did not implement the law effectively, and officials frequently engaged in corrupt practices with impunity,”the report, submitted by Secretary of States, Hillary Clinton, to the U.S. Congress said.

“Massive, widespread, and pervasive corruption affected all levels of government and the security forces,” it continued.

So this is what your government has come to be known for.

Still in that church service, Sir, you told Nigerians that God was the captain of the Nigerian ship. So I had expected you to show more than a passing interest in surrendering the fight against corruption to God. But I was surprised that when the rare opportunity came, last Sunday, during another church service – this time to commemorate your one year in office – you refused to support the man of God who pleaded that you and your administration officials took the fight against corruption to the alter of God. What were you afraid of, Mr President? That, Sir, speaks volumes about your sincerity in the corruption war. And that brings me to the role you played in the hurried moving of N155 billion out of our account under a questionable circumstance. It was done a day before Okonjo-Iweala resumed as your Finance Minister. And the characters involved in the transaction, the Etetes, is the reason I will need your explanation on this.

I will go straight to your Democracy Day speech. As expected, it could not boast of any visible achievement other than economic indices and statistics that were quite divorced from the stark realities on ground. You showed an amazing excitement when you announced your administration’s empowerment of 1200 youths who benefitted from your Youth Enterprise with Innovative Programme, YouWin. I was surprised that such was considered an achievement by you, Sir, let alone being included in your anniversary speech. Mr President, may I humbly inform you that 70 per cent of the Nigerian population is comprised of people who are thirty five years and below. Each year, Sir, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) churns out at least 100 thousand young Nigerians who throng into the labour market in search of nonexistent jobs. This is in spite of the fact that a larger percent of those who passed out before them may not have gotten jobs. So why should we be excited about 1200 people in a population of 160 million? Is it a deliberate celebration of mediocrity or just an attempt to appear serious with the job we elected you to do?

In reference to electricity supply, you said, “By mid-2010, the national power output was about 2,800 MW. By the end of 2011, we reached a peak of more than 4, 000 MW. A National Gas Emergency Plan has also been launched to redress the problem of gas supply which are essentially due to poor planning.” Curiously, you didn’t tell us where we were by end of May, or mid-May, the period you were reeling out the achievements. So I ask now, Mr President, where are we on power generation? How many megawatts have we achieved between 2011 and mid-May, 2012? Where we are on electricity generation, Mr President, is on the region of total darkness. The wattage is negligible. Nauseating sound of generators still buzz in my neighbourhood daily, and darkness is the light in the villages where poverty even bites harder. That must be why you jumped it.

The efforts you put in advertising your cassava bread, if not tragic, would have been funny. You cannot re-write history, Sir. Cassava bread is not novel. Your constant efforts to lay claim to it as your achievement in office is worrisome. For the records, on 1st July, 2005, Obasanjo’s government made it mandatory for bakers to include 10% of cassava flour in the production of bread. I followed that administration closely. Yet even at that ,you cannot force people to eat what they do not want. Telling us you eat it makes no difference in our lives. Our billions are stolen by the day, anyway; and you watch without taking any punitive action against the criminals.

Your penchant for majoring in minor, if not entirely irrelevant issues, should worry every sound mind. Your change of Unilag to MKO Abiola University just by a presidential fiat betrayed your love for vanity; your lack of appreciation for substance. And as expected, it stirred up eruptions in the school. Yet rather than quickly reconsider your stand, you declared to many who think you made another gaffe; “no going back”. I know political expediency informed that decision. But unfortunately, that was politically incorrect. It has boomeranged, and will not shield you from the harsh verdict of your critics, which is that your first year in office as president was a total failure.

It was a shock to me that you ended your speech without making any mention of the fuel subsidy scam – the biggest in Nigeria’s history. You said nothing about your plans to prosecute the offenders. In case you don’t know, Mr President, the amount involved in that fraud is N2.6trillion, more than half of our annual budget. If that is not weighty enough to cause you to act, I wonder what will.

I have a hunch some 19th century folks have been giving you lessons on how to rule Nigeria in 2012. They may have presented the IBB model and you bought it hook line and sinker. But that will be risky for you, Sir. Unfortunately, you are heading Nigeria at a time when there is only one way to face the task: fight corruption and shun patronage! You cannot do this job the way you want, or the way your predecessors handled it. The cumulative effect of the mess your predecessors put Nigeria into has saturated our landscape, forcing people to demand serious leadership from their president. Distractions will not just do. And you must understand this, Sir.

And talking about serious leadership; did you hear, Mr President, that Mrs. Joyce Banda, the President of Malawi – an African country – sold off her country’s presidential jet and fleet of 60 limousines? President Joyce declared that she was “happy to offload” the jet and the cars, and she would be traveling on passenger airplanes like every other citizen. Mrs. Joyce Banda understands basic economics and means well for her people. She appreciates the truth that a poor man who seeks future comfort must delay gratification. She is a living example of a serious leader. Can the same be said of you, Mr President? I will not wait for your response, Sir. I know it will never come. The same cannot be said of you. You do not mean well for Nigeria, Mr President. In 2010, you ordered 3 more presidential planes to increase an already over bloated fleet of presidential jets, underscoring your penchant for wasting public funds and downplaying the depth of poverty in our land.

You can’t mean well by having 10 presidential jets when the reality on ground demands that you travel with commercial planes. You can’t mean well with a feeding budget of almost 3 million naira per day in a country where 112 million people live on less than N300 (three hundred naira) per day. You can’t be seen to mean well with the number of cars in your presidential fleet. The British Prime Minister, who runs a civilization and economy that is light years ahead of yours, has no official jet.

You have effectively wasted the last one year, Mr President. And for a country with steady drop in life expectancy, we don’t have the luxury of time. We have the need for speed. We need a president who is ready to work, not distract us with an uninspiring campaign for cassava bread. We need Boko Haram’s onslaught on the Nigerian state to be addressed by your government. We need our people to be lifted out of poverty, not some phony statistics. We need leadership, not mediocrity. You, Mr President, have not been a leader in the last one year. But will you be in the remaining three years? I don’t think so. I only hope you prove me wrong.

Your body language tells me your eyes are fixed on 2015. But that is a tragedy on its own; for you maybe, not for me or Nigeria. Most of your moves are made with the intention of securing your seat in 2015. But I am also shocked that neither you nor your advisers understand that the surest way to winning re-election is to work and be seen to have worked. I will be glad to see you declare for re-election. The thoughts of having you as the first sitting president in Nigeria to be emphatically defeated excites me. Kindly follow your secret quest for re-election, Sir. I’d like to see the next sentiment your team will sell to the electorate.

You could see, Mr President, that I didn’t have time to pretend about the message I wanted to pass across. You already have enough praise singers to last you a lifetime. Pardon my directness, it was meant to deliver the message in a manner you will be stirred to act.

Do have a great day, Sir. I hope the domestic staff will remember to not prepare imported rice for Sunday. Kindly remind them of your “resolve to always eat local rice”. Today should be for Abakaliki or Ofada.

And lest I forget; happy anniversary, Mr President!

You can forgive him and not to forget, but she must take over the company and allow him go away from her.File for a divorce. Marriage is not a do or die affair. If he could do that to her, next time when he has his way, it will be to murder her and that will be the end of the story. Also, let it be documented with the police and the lawyer, that in case anything happens to her, that he should be held responsible because his coming back is to kill.

Poster, in fact you are the one that married the man and not him. It is right time you ladies understand that it is not right for a woman to pay the bride price of any relationship because you will NEVER be appreciated as the guy would end up seeing you as the one who wanted him and not him that wanted you. Most Nigerian men don't understand what marriage is all about when the opposite partner makes the first move to help.Never you help any man that cannot stand on his own/ Period. It makes the man to be irresponsible. They are known as freeloaders and are good for nothing.

In this case, we can only conclude to apportion blame to either side when we hear from the husband his own side of the story.
