You should also know that the spec of the system also greatly influenced its performance.

Business / Re: I Need A Dedicated Email Account by Andycool: 10:31am On Mar 20, 2009
Most of us use free email services to create email accounts and maintain them. Sometimes we use these email accounts to send very important emails. I also have experienced this. But there are times we hate these email services due to many reasons. I will describe some disadvantages of these free email services in this post.

The most important disadvantage is the security and privacy. We cannot control our privacy and security of our emails and profile data. All the free email service providers including Gmail, Yahoo and hotmail say that they guarantee the full privacy. But can we make sure that they actually do that. Most of us receive unwanted emails (spam) even if we don't provide our email addresses to a third party. Some of you may know that many free email services sell their email addresses to various marketing companies. Therefore we can't believe on the guarantees of these free email service providers.

Another disadvantage is most of these free email services provides simple web based email facilities where we can't do many modifications. For an example if we use Gmail web interface to send an email, it is very hard to add a picture from our local machine instead of sending as an attachment. It also limits the customization of text and images. It is hard to add a customized email signature also.

Many companies provide free email services to make it as a good advertising and marketing medium. Actually that's all they want and don't care about how it affects the email user. For an example when you log into your Gmail or Yahoo email account, you will see advertisements in the right side and top. This is not a big headache in Gmail, but in Yahoo it is a real headache especially with their new webmail interface. I'm not comfortable with it and actually it is a headache for me. I think that most of you feel in the same way. It is possible to assume that we will lose our actual email workspace size in the coming future where more and more advertising and marketing methods are added to our web email interface. Up to now, there is one way that we can stop this by configuring an email client like Outlook or Thunderbird for our email account.

As far as I know, some companies and individuals pay less attention to the emails they receive from free email services addresses as they experience that most of them are spam. Due to this, there is a great possibility that they will miss very important emails sent to them. This will also affect us if we send important emails from free email services.
Therefore it is better if you can have a personal email account in your own domain (Ex. yourname@yourdomain.com) if it is affordable. If not, make sure you get a website that offer persononal email service on their server.
I will be offer this service for free; just to make things a little easier for my nairalanders.

Webmasters / I Need Someone To Design This Website by Andycool: 1:00am On Oct 11, 2008
I need a WEBdesigner to design for me a website that offers free download e-book on different topics such as IT, Management, Mathematics etc. Any visitor should be able to download books and can also submit books to the website. It should be easy to navigate and I should be able to easily add or delete ads from pages such as adsense etc. How much will it cost and what are your advise to a non-webdesigner like me . HOPE TO hear from the gurus.

Computers / Re: My Bluetooth Doesn't Work: What To Do ! by Andycool: 3:28pm On Feb 18, 2008
tobidaflava:

Hello friends, I bought a Bluetooth from Computer Village on a mind that it would be useful for browsing and transfering files/applications between my phone and computer, but fails to work. The software was telling me ". . . not signed" during the installation, but I don't understand. Please can anyone tell me how to go about it or what to do? Thank you.

I will like to know if you only bought a blutooth software or a bluthooth dongle that came with its software. Microsoft windows has no signature yet for most Blutooth but that does not mean it will not work. If you have installed your blutooth software properly, plug in your usb blutooth dongle to your system. On your phone's blutooth connection and try searching for your phone. you will be prompted for a passkey(passcode). type in a simple code you can remember. type same code on the phone when prompted and there you go, you have connected the two devices. set up an internet connection for your blutooth using the internet connection wizard from your control panel. It's an easy way to surf the web but not adviseable. Its too too expensive except you are browsing for free lipsrsealed

mmonwuba:

i think i now understand your question.
You don't need to go through that procedure. The other systems on your network, how do they get their ip address? is it auto (dhcp) or manually configured, do u use a proxy on the network? if you have issues answering these questions, go to one of the browsing systems, go to command prompt type ipconfig/all and post the reply here or call 017330538 and i'll guide you through.

Thanks Mmonwuba. 1 of the computer has the following config.

My system Started behaving strange two days ago. It's always slow when performing operations and hangs at-times showing not responding. Even when I want to shut down with no program running it still tells me "Not Responding" until I have to click on "end now". I use Win XP Pro with fir-wall on for most applications. I also have a running Avast home edition Antivirus. I am suspecting this could be a virus. What should I Do?
