Stay away from FBNH for now.Institutional investors only get in on stocks that give them at least a 5% dividend return. They are currently dumping their FBNH shares. The current dividend of FBNH at 10kobo only makes the viable price they will invest to be N2.00. Until the stock hits N2.00 or the company releases higher dividend, FBNH IS A NO NO. Him that has ears to hear, let him hear. smiley

Elai147: If FBN continues to attach bonus to the paltry dividends, it may be a good reason for investors to run away. How can you expect them to give more bonuses, join dis one wey dem dey now? I don't want them to give any bonus but I prefer something like 50k dividend............I don't loose hope on FBNH...........I believe miracle can happen................Lets see.............. |
Investment › Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by angelo82: 12:22pm On Aug 03, 2015 |
Elai147: I don't think they will jump to 50 kobo from 10 kobo dividend. When they slashed their dividend from N1.10 kobo to 10 kobo, it was apparent (at least, to me) that they were trying to rebase their dividend while retaining much of their earnings. If they pay 20 kobo as 2015 dividend, that will be a 100% dividend increase which investors will be forced to see as an improvement in dividend payout. The dividend may continue in such succession and increament, showing consistency in dividend payment until they get to the former N1.10 which they paid for 2013 accounting year. FBN has been trying to swim with the sharks and that was what affected them. Better meat dey show face for inside soup, kpomo self dey show itself. FBN need to improve on their ROE and allow investors value it appropriately before trying to measure up with the likes of GTB and Zenith. I know you are emotionally attached to FBN but try not to expect too much from them. When calculating dividend,you should add the bonus to it...........So FBNH actually paid over 1Naira but the question now is where is the bonus?........So if they are not giving any bonus by next year then the best they can do is to pay minimum of 50k dividend,anything less than that will worry a lot of people.........I have detached my emotion from stock market long time but just looking at possibilities............ |

Kagame: Bonus is likely out of the equation for this year , with an outstanding OS of 35 billion + (I hope its correct), how much more can they give ?
Then ,with a huge rise in impairment charges in H1 and a likelihood of further increase in H2 ( Atlantic energy et al ) , they need all the cash they can grab in a year or two.
This probably explains why its selling at Sub 7. They don't have to give bonus this year but they will sure pay at least 50k dividend..............And then retain most of the earnings..........I believe things will be better,I believe FBNH will survive.............It was sold below 6 last year..........Dont mind RENCAP,they are just trying to bring the stock down so that they can position their portfolio............Their report makes no sense......Very uncertain analysis............. |

Kagame: For yield hunters or those who might be interested in knowing what FBNH will likely pay as dividend for the 2015 financial year, I took time today to read the FBNH H1 2015 release and the comment below was quite instructive;
".... FBN Holdings Plc. has no immediate plans for any capital raising exercise and will continue to focus on optimising its balance sheet, as First Bank of Nigeria Limited will continue to retain a substantial portion of its profit to boost capital. In addition to higher capital retention and optimisation of the balance sheet, some other initiatives in place include: commencement of half-year audit to capitalize half-year earnings, establishment of a capital management desk to appropriately monitor and plan out capital requirements across geographies within the banking group."
Still reading other companies' results/releases and would post anything I find informative. Even last time they still pay some with bonus........I believe they will pay something a little higher than the last one..........First Bank will always do that no matter what the situation is........................ |

billtommy: I'm not disputing this, I just need some clarifications, are you saying that the number of days the money had spent in "wherever" won't be taken into consideration? Cos if its like you stated, it means the buyer still gains 80% of his acrude interest after termination, whereas, I think he should loose instead. Or the 20% of his interest will be deducted from his total capital, hereby forfeiting the entire interest that was paid upfront? The yield of the remaining tenure will be completely deducted from your principal amount......I repeat there is no 20% penalty charge..........I am speaking from experience............. |

When the current mini bull shall start waning I believe zenith and gtb will re-fire it with their results. My thoughts o. Dont hold me to anything.
