Investment in stock market is never a gambling. You invest in anticipation of return on investment after observing all the due diligence. Like life and all our endeavors, there is associated risk that encompasses all our dealings and stock market is not exclusive.

You can invest in fundamental sound business today and it might go bad tomorrow because some of business that went awry. But that does not make you a gambler but a core investor because there is risk in everything.

What happened in 2007 affected the whole world even the most organized economy felt the the pains even more. But I was not happy about the tornado that hit financial sub sector because it was cause by Nigeria factor '' corruption " otherwise we wouldn't have seen the melt- down of that magnitude.
You said it better.................

But of course that is the most tricky skill in stock market! We only learn from experience
Practical and not tricky skill...............

Well to start with the stocks you mentioned in 2007

(FORTE OIL) which was former known as (AP) traded above N300.

UNITYBANK traded above N10
FBNH traded above N70
ZENITH traded above N70
ACCESS traded above N30
GTB traded above N70

For further enquiry ask the shareholders of
ALLSTATES TRUST BANK.
FINBANK.
AFRIBANK.
SPRINGBANK.
OCEANIC BANK.
INTERCONTINENTAL BANK.
BANK PHB just to mention but few i think they will explain better.
Thats pre-crisis level..........There was massive downturn all over the world and market hasn't recover from that crash till............I was a victim of intercontinental/Union Bank...............But thank God we have a better system whereby I can trade the stocks by myself and not waiting for weeks before passing info to my analogue broker..............My point is that you can't generalize that NSE is a total gambling like baba ijebu............Without online trading revolution,do you think I will invest millions in stocks.....I neglected stocks completely because of that experience and I made a big mistake for doing so.............My advice to investors is for them to be ahead and read all the news pertinent to their stocks and NSE generally and to avoid anyone to monkey-hunt them.............No speculation and to be decisive.............Sell when you are suppose to sell and buy when you are suppose to buy.................

PETERiCHY:
STOCK MARKET is the most organized gambling platform.

That's why it's best you invest your idle fund and have your peace of mind except you have an authentic inside informaton.

For salary earners you see it as a project by setting aside a particular percent % of ur salary, just like the way you pay your tithe. On the long run God been by your side, Your ROI might even be more 1000%.

But for those that take it as a FULLTIME business bear in mind you have decided to play BABA-IJEBU with you life and that amounts to signing your own death warrant.

*ThE OcToPuS*
This generalization is wrong..............Yes you gamble big time when you are buying stocks of companies that are making losses............When you buy based on speculation you gamble but when you buy fundamentally sound stocks you invest except or otherwise if crisis like the 2010 occur and some companies incur serious losses, then there is possibilities of loosing out but this happens in every business.............Baba Ijebu is 100% gambling while stockmarket investment is not 100% gambling............Forte Oil was trading at a very low price in 2010 or thereafter but see where it is today without any restructuring of their shares like that of unity bank shareholders..................I read an article of one of the top executive of FBNH and he said they are not raising any capital by any right issue because it is unfair to their shareholders and it will add pressure to their equity...........So the resort to the use of cleaning up their balance sheets, savings cost to improve their capital base and also retaining most of their earnings..........Buying their stock can not be gambling as they are thinking ahead and put the interest of their shareholders in consideration.........Same goes to Zenith,GTB,ACESS,and some serious listed companies on NSE...............Unless my friend you are indirectly fighting the market and promoting bears so as to actualize your own dream..............You make sense in most of your post but sometime you over emphasize on irrelevant points based on your emotion...............Devaluation may happen or not but as a trader you need to figure out what you will do next incase the unexpected happens..........Market goes on regardless and people will still make money.............

After taxes, net profit of UNITYBNK stood at N10.69 billion in 2014 compared with net loss after tax of N22.58 billion in 2013. If this year the make 15billion after tax that almost 130kobo eps of they decide to give 30k dividend. Theres is no way the stock wont move to 3.00Naira.

Unity bank now has outstanding share of 11.69billion
Ok,if they give dividend.................Thats a pipe dream from now until it really happen........Best of luck to all the people on Unity Bank Train.........

Good choices but please remove that UNITY BANK...........Always destined to fail as a stock...............Look attractive at that price but the real value is 1k....................

You should think twice..........There are positive developments for the banks especially tier 1 banks like FBNH,Zenith...........One major one is the securitization of state debts into FGN bond by CBN is very good for FBNH.............FBNH exposure to states is 110Billion Naira...............Expect bulls on financial stocks...................

Sir, the tied will change very very and very soon. FBNH if not careful will go the way of Wema, Union bank, etc. Access Bank is trying to be in the top three. No need to say much, wait until Access post its 3rd quarter result. The year end dividend might shock everyone though. What they are planning hehehehehehehe...juice in juicy. Anyone selling after d dividend is on long thing lol
FBNH going the way of WEMA.............I don't think so.............Emotions apart, the situation of that bank is not that bad...........The brand is still a good one and their profit can offset their bad loans...........On the long run principle will prevail and shareholders of FBNH will be the ones to enjoy at last...........Patience is the key here..............Its normal for Access to declare such juicy results judging from their charges, the highest among Nigerian banks...............

zenith magic..from 15.05 to 15.80
Once you qualify for Zenith dividend.maybe you should just cross into ACCESS so that you can have more shares and also take additional dividend........You will better off that way by killing two birds with one stone..................

pls house,

how can I notify access bank registrar that I have bought access bank shares now so that I will benefit this their dividends come September?
Their registrar is United Securities.............You will have to download their e-dividend form and submit to them or wait for Access to mail you your dividend warrant............You don't need to notify them that you have bought their stock................Thats the duty of the registrar and once you buy before the closure date, you will be on their register.......................

How will I notify access registrar (united security) that am a new access share holder if I buy the share today so that I will benefit this their dividends come September 3rd..

Kindly waiting for your answers...

Other stock guruys in the house, pls advise me...

Access is not going back to 4 at least for now..........I think you should buy today at the best low price you can get because it will keep going up from next week.................
Personally I think this is a good company to own for long term and if i can get it @N200 or less, I may include it to my long term stocks. Some brokers advised against buying FO and Nestle some years ago. But I would like to know from BnSiTL if there is any good reason why Seplat is a bad investment choice. [/quote

Oil price volatility is a great concern right now..................Americans will decide the fate of oil market at last...........I believe if power can change from DEM. to Rep.,oil market will experience a boom and price will rebound.............Try to buy low at least at 200naira or a little less and wait for 18months..............I believe it will pay off by then................Seplat management is not bad...............

yeah , u re correct siir , the thing dey vex this morning
Patience is the key as per Access...........I have said it before if you remember that it reach 4.50k before it will rebound but thanks to their right issue it created a new low at 4 and here is the rebound...............Maybe FBNH will pay by March considering the fact that they are not raising money from right issue.................By next year,I won't by Access until it reach the final low.............

Exactly. Access wanted to race off this morning but on seeing the elephant descending, its heart failed it. In fact, market psychology is expecting the elephant to slump below 6 anytime from now, crushing everything around it.
What the Bleep is wrong with it.............Then they should pass it.............I really don't like the way FBNH is slowing those two stocks down..............
InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by angelo82: 10:29am On Aug 21, 2015
The only fear is the elephant.........I need that FBNH to move small to 8 so that Access and UBA will continue to move...........If FBNH is not moving then this bull might be a minibull.............
