TOPIC of PRAYER: Pray to Resist Satan’s Persecution, Part2

SCRIPTURE READING
John 15:20
Remember the word that I spoke to you: 'No servant is greater than his master.' If they persecuted Me, they will persecute you as well; if they kept My word, they will keep yours as well.

BRIEF EXHORTATION:
We live in time and age when systematic persecution of saints is at the horizon. Christians suffer hostility and direct attacks for our belief. The Bible encourages us to remain steadfast in God. There are two types of persecutions coming up in this end time; they are the pre rapture persecution and the post rapture persecution.
Pre rapture persecution is the one that will happen before rapture.

Matthew 24:9
Then they will hand you over to be persecuted and killed, and you will be hated by all nations on account of My name's sake.

The pre-rapture persecution, at its highest point, will trigger rapture. The book of revelation chapter six talks about breaking of the seven seals. When the Lord, Jesus Christ, opened the fifth seal, the persecution of believers begins and when he opened the six seal it was the rapture that happened.

Revelation 6:9-10
And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held: And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?

Brethren, the persecution of believers have started and that is why we see more persecution in this period. The church is passing through birth pain or birth pang of rapture. I pray God will see us through in Jesus mighty name.

PRAYER POINTS:
1. Lord, Jesus Christ, help me and empower me to keep the word of your patience in this end time and keep me away from the hour of temptation, persecution and trials of these last days, As you promise the Philadelphia church.

Lord, Jesus Christ, as you gave the three Hebrew boldness, courage and strength to reject the worship of image set up by Nebuchadnezzar, grant me also boldness to say ‘no’ to persecutor, courage to choose you in persecution and strength to remain standing in my decision for you and remain loyal to You unto the end.

Can't you imagine how Abraham would have felt if God had confided in him about the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah and Abraham did not intercede for them and God eventually destroyed them.

Abraham would have been terribly annoyed with himself. He would feel like 'and I know God would listen to me if I pleaded with Him but then I failed to plead and now Sodom is destroyed. why did God even tell me about the destruction in the first' Abraham would be so bitter with himself.

but then Abraham pleaded from fifty to ten, by still, Sodom was destroyed. Abraham would feel a great relief in his heart. He would be like 'I did my best to save Sodom.

Sometimes I learnt a very bitter lesson. One of my cousins was very sick and I never prayed for him. Then I had a dream and saw him in an hopeless situation on the hospital bed. Then later, I saw that he was in my house; I was praying for him.

After the dream, I did not do anything. I didn't pray for him nor ask after him. About two weeks after that, they called to tell me that he died in the hospital. I was in a public bus when the call came. I felt so displeased with myself. if it were possible, I could have been slapping myself to show my displeasure with myself. I was saying 'and God showed me o' repeated in the bus. And the most pathetic of the story was that he died as an unbeliever.

The question is 'why did God show me? Is it not to intercede? if I had interceded and he died later, will I be much angry with myself? No. I will only be saying that we tried our best or God knows best.

But let me explain some things to you.

The prophecies of earthquake, wars, Sodomy and some others given by the Lord were open prophecies. This means since no actual places were mentioned, it could be fulfilled by any body.

Now, let me use an earthquake as an example. Supposing prophecy came out of an earthquake to happen in Nigeria, if we cry to God in humble repentance, God can do any of the following

-1. He can totally stop Nigeria from having earthquake but since earthquake are still happening in other places, that prophecy of earthquake is still being fulfilled.

-2. God can divert the earthquake into a jungle where nobody is living and preserve the city.

-3. God can reduce the quake to a slight tremor that will not have any major effect.

But to say that you will not do anything because it has been prophesied is not good enough.

Now, let me come to this LGBT of a thing!

Nigeria has not legalised it. Thank God for that. Some others have legalised. If the thing is legalised or come to the extent of doing open gay parade, then we should be prepared for God's wrath. I f we cried to God about it and the government did not allow, those concerned that want to openly have their way can go to places where it has been allowed.

By so doing, prophecy is still fulfilled.

The only reason Nigeria has not plunged into full war is because the mercy God is still showing us as a response to some people's prayers. But we are having protests, violences but not war. whichever way prophecy is still fulfilled but we can't fold our arms and just be looking because it has been prophesied.

BRIEF EXHORTATION:
The device of the devil we are looking at, this week, is persecution. The general definition says ‘Persecution is a cruel and unfair treatment of a person or group, especially because of their religious or political beliefs, or their race. But we are only looking at Christian persecution. Christian persecution refers to persistently cruel treatment, often due to one's believe in God, through Jesus Christ.

There are still some circumstances in the 21st century, where Christians are persecuted because of their beliefs. One example is the bombing of Christian churches around the world.

2 Timothy 3:12
Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.

The two scriptures above tells us that persecution is inevitable for every legitimate child of God, infact persecution is of the things that makes us to be a stronger christain. An international minister of God says Lord Jesus Christ told him to prepared him body of my martyrs because persecution is coming to that nation. People of God, this called that this minister of God received from the Lord is not meant for those people alone but all the believers in Christ Jesus should prepare themselves for persecution and to be martyrs in these last days. I pray God will help us.

Yesterday, we talked about how satan are uses forceful ways as the last options to fight believers. Even, our Lord Jesus Christ and all the fathers of faith, all, went through the same things in the hands of the satan.

Aaron, the priest, yielded to Satan pressure through the children of Israel in the wilderness when he made an idol for them (exo 32:1,22-24).
Satan, on many occasions, used the children of Israel to pressurized Moses in the wilderness (number 11:4-15).

Satan used job's wife and his friends to mount pressure on him to sin against the Lord. Children of Israel, in the wilderness, always yielded to the pressure of Satan most especially in the area of need.

Brethren, as I have mentioned before, satan can use any body or anything to put pressure on you. I pray satan will not succeed in pressurizing our lives .

We have looked at the topic, "Pray against the devices of Satan", and we discussed about the two groups of devices of satan: soft ways and hard ways. Now, we want to talk about devices of Satan in a hard way.

The first device is pressure. Brethren, pressure is one of the toughest or resilient way that satan uses against many child of God. I plead with you sir/ma, let us be conscious of this device called pressure in this year.

Pressure is an attempt to persuade or coerce (someone) into doing something that is against the will of the person. Satan can use anybody to mount pressure on someone e.g. your spouse, children, parent, friend, family, boss, neighbor, co-worker, pastor, brethren and government agency. Satan can also use circumstances, situations or challenges such as your finance, work, business, economy of country, need, marital status, health, financial status etc.

PRAYER POINTS:
1. Lord Jesus Christ, I repent from every pressure that I have yielded to, in my journey of faith as a believer in you.

TOPIC of PRAYER: Pray Against the Devices of Satan, Part 3

BRIEF EXHORTATION:
In the Part 1, we talked about the two ways in which Satan and his kingdom device or plan against believers in Christ; the soft way and the hard way.

In the Part 2, we explained how satan comes firstly in a soft way to plead with a believer, in temptation, and make an offer of juicy things in other to make the believer to come back to him or to do his bid.

Today, we are going to the second part of his devices which is the hard or forceful way. Satan uses these two methods against our Lord, Jesus Christ. In the part 2, I cited example where the devil came in soft manner in the wilderness and through peter in Matt 4:1-8, Matt 16:21-23 respectively. Glory be to God that the Lord, prevailed.

The hard way that Satan and his demons always use are pressure, persecution, anxiety/fear, oppression, provocation/upset and spiritual attack. By the grace of God we shall consider each of them in the days ahead. I pray God will strengthen us and give victory against the enemies.

PRAYER POINTS:

There are also some clarifications I want to make for better understanding.

-1. There is a sharp difference between the great tribulation and the wrath of God. Howbeit, most believers do not know the difference and they mix two things. I pray I get to explain the difference by and by

-2. Any time the scripture lay emphasis on a certain white Garment, it is talking about the rapture of the saints. Let me give instances.

Matthew 22:11-12 KJV
And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment: [12] And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless.

Revelation 16:14-15 KJV
Almighty. [15] Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.

Revelation 19:6-8 KJV
[7] Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. [8] And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: g for the fine linen is the righteousness h of saints.

If you restrict your understanding of what "Tribulation" truly means ONLY to John's Revelation, then you have done great injustice to The Lord who said it Earlier in Mathew 24 and therefore, you would also not see it in action in other earlier references.

So this clearly shows that your opinion of what "Tribulation" truly means must be different from mine.

My observation throughout the Bible from Genesis to revelation "Tribulation" has only One Great Meaning whenever it is used.

Thus, Tribulation refers to Increased Troubles. If observant you would see that Tribulation and Troubles are Always Linked both in words and in fact. Hence I think that what was called Tribulation in the past can also be called "Troublations or Trouble-lations today".

Which on further observation it is seen and known that all the people in the world fall into one Trouble or the other with some form of regularity and these types are usually bearable and tolerable.

However there is a period of time where there is a Noticeable Increase in the Number, Regularity, Vehemence and Hotness of Troubles, and here the afflicted soul cries out and everyone sees and can see that such a soul is afflicted.

The afflicted even cries out saying "who I don offend? dem curse me? What did I do to deserve this kain wahala?"

This state is what I have identified to be Tribulation.

And I gleaned this both from personal experience and from several passages in the Bible most especially Psalms, Proverbs and Ecclesiastes, which I used to overcome all these experiences and observations.

Eg Psalm 25:17, Psalm 16:4 etc

Before I continue, I will like to say or stress that the phrase 'great tribulation' are used three times in the whole of the bible; one in Mathew 24 and twice in the book of revelation. The other phrace that looks like it is 'much tribulation' which is used in the book of acts.

So it follows that the phrase 'great tribulation is a term that relates solely to the end time. And to understand it clearly, scriptures especially those about end time should be consulted.

The soft way is when Satan is trying to plead with temptation or juicy offer with a believer in other to make he/she to return to him after the person has accepted Christ or trying to plead to him/her to do his will in a gentleman approach.

He can use anyone to plead to you e.g your spouse, family member, friend and colleague, boss, neighbor, leader in a group or church and government agencies. Satan used the same devices to our O Lord, Jesus Christ many time, in Matthew 4:1-8, Matthew 16:21-23. I pray God will give us victory over Satan's devices.

PRAYER POINTS:
1. O Lord, Jesus Christ, give me victory in any way that satan is pleading with me, in order to get better chance of me to sin and to hell.

2. Whatever thing that Satan is using to plead to me either temptation or juicy attraction so that I can compromise my faith in you, O Lord, Jesus Christ, let him fail completely.

3. Whosoever that Satan is using to plead with me in order to make me to compromise my faith or to outsmart me, O Lord, Jesus Christ let the person fail totally.

4. O Lord, Jesus Christ, deliver me and give me victory over any man or woman trying to be used by Satan to carry out his evil bid over my life in this end time.

5. I decree and I declare in the name of Jesus Christ that Satan will not get an advantage of me in these last days.

6. I decree in name of Jesus Christ, you Power of darkness waiting to see my end in torment, pain and destruction in hell, fail completely by the power in blood of Jesus Christ.

Jesus is coming. Stay ready in absolute repentance, watchfulness and holiness.

If you restrict your understanding of what "Tribulation" truly means ONLY to John's Revelation, then you have done great injustice to The Lord who said it Earlier in Mathew 24 and therefore, you would also not see it in action in other earlier references.

So this clearly shows that your opinion of what "Tribulation" truly means must be different from mine.

My observation throughout the Bible from Genesis to revelation "Tribulation" has only One Great Meaning whenever it is used.

Thus, Tribulation refers to Increased Troubles. If observant you would see that Tribulation and Troubles are Always Linked both in words and in fact. Hence I think that what was called Tribulation in the past can also be called "Troublations or Trouble-lations today".

Which on further observation it is seen and known that all the people in the world fall into one Trouble or the other with some form of regularity and these types are usually bearable and tolerable.

However there is a period of time where there is a Noticeable Increase in the Number, Regularity, Vehemence and Hotness of Troubles, and here the afflicted soul cries out and everyone sees and can see that such a soul is afflicted.

The afflicted even cries out saying "who I don offend? dem curse me? What did I do to deserve this kain wahala?"

This state is what I have identified to be Tribulation.

And I gleaned this both from personal experience and from several passages in the Bible most especially Psalms, Proverbs and Ecclesiastes, which I used to overcome all these experiences and observations.

Eg Psalm 25:17, Psalm 16:4 etc

Thank you for your response. I am not saying that you are wrong. I am equally trying to draw out the real meaning of the great tribulation as God would have the church and believers to know so that we will not be in error.

Truth be spoken, majority of believers today, do not know the actual meaning of the great tribulation as God would have them know. And unless we allow scripture to explain itself, we will run into error.

What I want to do is to allow scripture to explain itself and not try to read my own meaning into the scripture.

Let me finish my exposition, using only scripture to explain scripture, then you can make your opinion of my presentation.

It is the book of revelation that addresses the happenings of this hour. Pick your bible and study now.

We are living in a very spiritually dangerous time. The bible calls it, the perilous time, the time of distress, the time of trial, the tribulation time and so on.

Why then was John on the island?

and John said he was our companion in tribulation.

This statement means that as John was being persecuted, which he referred to as tribulation, the early churches and us the endrime church will us go through such tribulation or persecution.

Now we can infer that those three John into the island of Patmos would not have done so if John had stopped holding on to the Word of God and also had stopped testifying of Jesus.

But because John was adamant, they threw him into the island as a punishment, perhaps, he would 'come into his senses someday' and deny Jesus and then be freed.

Logically, tribulation can be defined as the total suffering, punishment, persecution, imprisonment, hunger, and all such hardships that the enemy impose on believers to force him to stop holding unto the word of God and to stop him from testifying (preaching) Jesus.

This logical definition of tribulation agrees with the scripture below

Romans 8:35-39 KJV
35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or unclothedness, or peril, or sword?

[36] As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

[37] Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

[38] For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

[39] Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord..

Verse 35 above asked a vital question that begins with who a personal pronoun used for human beings and not animals nor object.

The question says who shall separate us from the love of Christ, in other words from Christ? That means human beings may try to separate believers from Christ or seek to stop them from following Christ.

Then after the question, instead of mentioning names of human beings that will agree with the pronoun 'who' that was used to ask the question, scripture started mentioning different types of threats.

That means those types of threats mentioned afterwards are the different types of methods that human beings can use to stop believers from following Christ. And these include tribulation, persecution, unclothedness, sword, peril and so on.

Verse 36 even mentioned that we could even be killed for Christ's sake, yet we will not forsake him.

The totality of these sufferings and killings imposed on believers to force him to deny Christ is tribulation.
