Reasons

1. Jonathan and NOI were sincere enough to warn of the impending economic crisis and even started to borrow to pay salary, Buhari came in and instead of to get an economic team in place to give a direction to his policies, he choose instead to rule alone for 6 long months with no economic direction


Any wise investor will have to put everything on hold or even withdraw his investments

2. Afterwards, we waited for budget, meanwhile all this period, the government is still on a state of inaction for another 6 months . Their thought was that once the budget is signed, money will be released and the economy will rebounds. Unfortunately the money had already lost most of its value

3. We were running out of foreign exchange, crude prices were low and the Avengers were doing their thing. A sensible government would have conserve the reserve, but Buhari arrogantly pegged the naira in the face of damning economic reality and drained the reserve. Let's not argue about why Jonathan didn't save, let's deal with what Buhari did with what was available cos that's what FDR in United States that you quoted.

4. Unity is the best weapon to overcome any crisis, however, Buhari came and first announced the 97% vs 5% compensation plan, started the fire in Niger Delta with the amnesty issue, [/b]proceeded to wage a [b]war with the Legislature and destroy the essence of federal character with lopsided appointments with the excuse that he needed to work with people he can trust. This is a very bad precedent, tomorrow another president from Oyo State will appoint only Yoruba with the same excuse that he needs to work with people he can trust.

5. Failing to understand that Civil service corruption is much but bigger and more dangerous than public service corruption and concentrating his energy on fighting enemies.
