What started as a normal protest over entitlements by ex-militants went out of hand as the militants attempted to take over the Akwa Ibom State government house.

At the time of the report, police have succeeded to pull back the first wave of Strikes by the militants.

It is unclear whether the militants would regroup and strike again or it is over.

Right now police have taken over the streets adjoining and advised people to stay clear.
