On a more serious note, price controls means millions that could have been spent on other things gets spent controlling prices. And the main issue is, power and petroleum, the two sectors where there are price controls earn less cash.

Which is why, for example, petrol is smuggled across the border to Niger for example, where fuel is above 300 naira per liter.

And with oil prices falling, meaning revenues falling, Nigeria does not have the cash to even find subsides. Even if we dealt with the corrupt properly

We did not have price controls in the GSM sector. Look at how well developed it is, and how many jobs it has created as a result.

So government should stop controlling prices. Yes, things would be more expensive, but eventually investment flows in, more jobs are created, and money is saved and spent on things like roads, rail, schools, etc.

Oshiomhole made this statement on Thursday, while welcoming new members to the party, at the APC presidential campaign in Benin.

He is the former organising secretary of PDP and we also have former vice chairman PDP and leader of Edo North of PDP. We also have my brother Chief Esheshi Godwin. How did AIT survive under PDP from 1999 to 2015? Then all political functions were aired live on AIT and most adverts from PDP controlled States went to AIT. If you can remember that famous phone call OBJ made to Late Yar Adua in 2007 (Umaru Umaru) we watched it live on NTA. In 1999, the PDP primary where OBJ emerged was also aired from 6:00pm to 6:00am live on AIT. But under APC, it's TVC and channels that are getting them. Tables only turned, the fee was not sporadically reviewed.

So what Happened to Daarsat? Why did it collapse? Where are the share holders funds?

Nigerians love to brag as been educated but fail to do so when it matters. Two thing about this statement mixup is , either the educated ones understands what the president actually mean and are just playing politics as usual or a large percentage of them are illiterates who just take words from the surface .
As far as the world of politics is concerned , all oppositions are ‘necessary evil’ . They are ‘evil’ because in most cases they will always do things to undermine the sitting government, work as a spy just to get back to power . This practice is everywhere democracy is being practiced . And they are necessary because without them the sitting government would feel too relaxed and rule with no caution .
A good example is football leagues . Barca with his recent dominance of Spanish football will always see Madrid as necessary evil because Madrid as an opposition would always try to see Barca fail even aside from Madrid winning their own games . So this makes them (Madrid )necessary as it makes Barca work harder and never relax .
So picking a part of the presidents statement just to incite the people against the government would only make them look more stupid .
