In Nigeria, if you protest alone, "they" will kill you.
Then, you guys will all come here and be swiping phone as if you don't know someone was killed.
No one should expect you to protest alone. It will be practical to sensitise others and awaken their conscience to the issues that need to be addressed through legal efforts in the courts, advocacy with lawmakers (local, state and federal) as well as protest.

Lies and deceit always.

Make i summarise.

Minimum wage increased to ~N~ 30,000 from 18,000, which is 66.66% increase.

So salaries for officers on Grade Levels 01-17 should be adjusted accordingly.

But the Government argued that such increase across board would raise the total wage bill too high.

Then Labour reviewed its demand downward and eventually settled for 30% increase for officers on Grade Levels 07-14 and 25% for those on Grade Levels 15-17.

The Government said it can only pay 9.5% for employees on Grade Levels 07-14 and 5% for those on Grade Levels 15-17.

A committee was then set up by govt. to negotiate further with labour.

Labour insisted on 30% and 25%,

Govt. Committee said they can't go beyond what the government proposed which 9.5% and 5%.

So we are back to square one.

No minimum wage anytime soon.

Since They are privately funded from the Income of the Senior Special Adviser, i dont think we should cry about this.

Code Of Conduct Tribunal Freed Bola Tinubu In Error – Rotimi Jacobs
.
.
.
Rotimi Jacobs, a senior advocate of Nigeria and the Federal Government prosecuting counsel in the 13 count charge of false assets declaration trial of Senate President Bukola Saraki on Thursday said the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) was misled to discharge former Governor of Lagos State Bola Ahmed Tinubu when he was arraigned before it in November 2011.

Government, governance and power are tricky subjects and should be viewed from many parameters and not treated in a vacuum.

The president in Rwanda was able to achieve a lot because he hired technocrats and initiated and implemented progressive policies. He was also honest and clean and dedicated to the country.

He also had a lot of power to effect the necessary changes because he seized power through war and was therefore not beholden to powerful interest groups who would have frustrated reforms that would have hurt them. Because he was very clean and was well educated, he fought corruption by implementing policies that prevented graft in the first place, hired clean hands and was determined to punish crooks.

Also, when he assumed power, the inherited weak institutions. It is more easy to bring changes when institutions are weak. A leader can not only make them strong but also mould them into the shape he desires.
You have not answered the question I asked.
When you answer, please let me know.
Cheers

Yes, it can be different from the people. Rwanda is an example. It's condition should even be worse than Burundi considering the ethnic cleansing that occurred but instead it is a shining star.
Do you mean that in Rwanda if all the people, everyone, does not want the government it will still be therehuh

The prime determinant whether a country does well or not are down to governments policies and only partially based on the effort you put in. The actual heavy lifting is done by government's policies.

Look at these 2 countries: Rwanda.and Burundi

Rwanda and Burundi basically share the same combustible ethnic makeup that led to the Hutu slaughter of a million Tutsis.

Despite the genocide, the Rwandan economy is booming because their president has employed competent technocrats who are implementing policies that are changing the countries fortunes. It's Ease of Doing Business is 30 while that of Nigeria is over 140.

Burundi which has experienced genocides but paltry compared to that of Rwanda is an economic and political mess. The economy is struggling and the president there is only interested in holding on to power rather than introducing and implementing transformative policies. It should be food for thought
is the government ever different from the people who own it (the government)huh

You people don't even want to hear any positive news about Nigeria.
What if it's the underreporting of sucide in other countries that made Nigeria to be in that position?

With social media, every sucide is being reported in Nigeria to the best of my knowledge. Except it's not sucide
Reporting is one thing the other is collating the statistics in a reliable, credible manner.
Are we doing thathuh
Do we even have a reliable population figure to start with?

Most Nigerian elders don't respect themselves and by extension, don't deserve respect.

A blatant disregard for rules and regulations is what you are encouraging on the altar of respect. How far has this useless redpect gotten thos country? Nothing is working because the people who should be fighting for this country have been muted on the altar of respect. Hpw respectful was Soyinka as a youth? If the youths of Soyinka's generation had been harping on about respect the way that youths of today are being forced to, do you think the country would have ever gotten this far?

Respect is earned, not demanded. If you act respectfully, you will duly be respected. Don't use old age to intimidate and deny people their rights

PS: The young man had a medical condition that necessitated a window seat for him.
