President Muhammadu Buhari has berated Nigerian youths for being 'uneducated' and 'not ready to work'.
President Buhari, while speaking during a panel discussion at the Commonwealth business forum in Westminster, London, expressed displeasure with youths in Nigeria because they were dependent on revenue from oil to survive.
He said the youths, who make up 60 percent of the population, were waiting to get social amenities free without doing anything.
"And then the economy. We have a very young population and our population is estimated conservatively to be 180 million. The 60 percent of the population is below the age of 30. A lot of them have not been to school and they are claiming that Nigeria has been an oil producing country and therefore they should sit and do nothing and get housing, healthcare and education free,"
The moderator had asked Buhari to give his final thoughts on the issues discussed. The President said he had fulfilled his campaign promises by improving on the nation’s security and the economy.
White007: This is Yusuf. He doesn't like to work. He stays in a free house, eats free meals and rides a power bike all day long. When sick, he flies a chartered or presidential plane to some of the finest hospitals to treat himself all for free. Yusuf is a #LazyNigerianYouths Don't be like Yusuf
Prospect of a possible alliance between the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN and Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, was dashed yesterday in Kano as the leader of the party and former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu described CPC as parading “expired leadership.”
SignalNG1: December 23, 2015 The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said on Wednesday that the Nigerian military had met the December deadline to defeat the Boko Haram terrorists.
The minister said this during his maiden meeting with editorial heads of media houses in Lagos.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that President Mohammadu Buhari had, upon assuming office, issued a December 31 deadline to the military to defeat the Boko Haram terrorists.
“Today, I can report that the war against Boko Haram is largely won.
“I can confidently say this because just recently, I led a group of 33 journalists from both the local and international media to the hot bed of the insurgency, that is, Maiduguri, Kondugua, Kaoure and Bama.
“Today, I can report to you that the entire 70 plus kilometres stretch from Maiduguri to Bama and all the way to Banki which leads to Cameroun and the Central African Republic are in the hands of our gallant troops.”
He said the military presence could be felt ”every few metres along the road; at a point along that road we were just a kilometre to Sambisa forest.
“They have so degraded the capacity of Boko Haram that the terrorists can no longer hold on to any territory just as they can no longer carry out any spectacular attack.”
Mohammed, however, said that though there were still cases of suicide bombings, it was pertinent to note that such was the nature if insurgency globally.
“Unlike a war between two armies, an insurgency never ends with arms victory
“Even in countries like Colombia where insurgency was supposed to have ended decades ago, attacks like this still happen.”
He said that the insurgents had adopted a new style of attacking soft targets like motor parks, schools, entertainment centres, religious centres, killing innocent people mostly women and children.
He, therefore, urged Nigerians to support the military in the fight against terrorism in the country, saying that the military had availed itself creditably.
PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan yesterday in Maiduguri, accused Borno State Elders of playing to the gallary over the activities of Boko Haram Islamic sect insurgency in the state, describing the situation as unfortunate.
Jonathan spoke during an interactive session with Borno State stakeholders at the Multi-Purpose Hall, Government House Maiduguri, in continuation of his two- day working visit to Borno and Yobe States, the epicentres of Boko Haram.
He was responding to requests by the Elders for the Federal Government to grant amnesty to the sect members as well as withdraw the military Joint Task Force, JTF from Maiduguri and other areas in the state during the second day of his working visit to Borno State..
President Jonathan lamented that none of the elders in the state had publicly condemned the killings and bombings being carried out by the sect members and advised them to put their ‘’house in order,’’ by talking to their children who had been causing havoc in the country to drop their arms against the country.
Arrewa: I repeat prof Zulum's advisors need to sit him down and make him understand that he can not help his people if he’s not alive.
He can be effective from his office while preserving his own life...
Zulum is like someone who don't take advice especially when it comes to the well-being of his people.
He already know that there's a game going on.
But he don't know how to confront the government!
He's just facing the problem with his life at stake!
He need to Chile or they will end him before he finish this his first tenure.
Those guys are determined to end him
Is Zulum not part of the government? He should just stop taking us for fools with his show to achieve whatever his goals may be, at the expense of the life of others and the joy of their families. Enough of the theatre please.
Buhari faults crackdown on Boko Haram JUNE 3, 2013
Presidential candidate for the Congress for Progressive Change in the 2011 Presidential election, Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd), has frowned on the emergency rule in parts of the North. He alleged that innocent civilians were being killed in the states.
Buhari speaking during a Liberty FM Hausa Service Programme, Guest of the Week, on Sunday in Kaduna said that Boko Haram members were being killed and their houses demolished unlike the “special treatment” given to the Niger Delta militants by the Federal Government.
PericomaNwankwo: You're saying something else oga, why do you guys prefer emotion over rationale?? Everything is all about money money, what is money without character?? If you like stay dirty. BTW, the subject here didn't make any money he's only living on his dad's money?
No truer words have been said on nairaland. Tuale for you boss.
What has cleanliness got to do with being wealthy.
Was Steve Jobs clean? Wasn't he working in a garage then. Same as Larry Page and other reputable US billionaires. Aside celebrities, politicians and people working in finance industry, the only people remaining that have all the time in the world to watch over their body, wear designer cloths and follow recent trends are those who are too idle to get busy with chasing steady income and building generational wealth.
When you're too preoccupied with the burden of building generational wealth, becoming an elite, and retaining that position, your aesthetic look will be the last thing on your mind. I love Nengi because she's holding an impeccable past at her backside. If not, I'd have said that she's only being bitter that Kiddwaya preferred Erica over her.
When I was in Kazakhstan, even the richest man in my nabe wasn't that clean.
daddytime: I was truly shocked at the report on Lagos' finances.

Lagos light rail’ll be ready in June – Fashola January 9, 2013
The Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola on Tuesday said the first phase of the state Blue Light Rail project would be completed by June this year(2013).
He expressed confidence that Lagosians would start enjoying the services of the rail project immediately.
The first phase would run from Marina and terminated at Okokomaiko area in Ojo Local Government.

The governor, who inaugurated the trackwork of the blue light rail at Alaba Suru, Coker-Agunda Local Council Development Area, said the level of work on the road and those of the National Theatre and Alaba-Mile 2 rail stations, would ensure early completion
He said, “In order to finish the project, the contractor did not go on vacation during the festive period. This will ensure that the project is delivered on time for the use of Lagosians.
“The first section of this rail, which started from National Theatre, Orile-Iganmu to Mile 2 Bus Stop, would be fully completed with the tracks laid.
“Construction work will continue on the project from Orile-Iganmu to Marina, the expansion work on the road from Mile 2 to Okokomaiko will also be intensified.
“This is what we do with the loan collected by the government. We don’t use our loan to pay salaries and other recurrent expenditure, what we do with our loan is to provide capital projects that would serve the residents.
“When the project is completed, the state would be at par with other major cities of the world.”

Barawo Bubu’s humanitarian minister properly spended billions feeding school children during the lockdown. Did you not see many children with the free food?
ITbomb: The smallest State in Nigeria, Lagos is bigger than Luxembourg in landmass and population. So they can do it
However they won’t do it and the people who cough up the increasing IGR will continue to hail the government.
Ajibel: Not many nations within the African continent can boast of the feat Lagos state has attained over the past decade. The state rivals economies of nations as it ranks the top 10 of the largest African economies. The success of the state is, however, punctuated by high poverty levels and a range of infrastructural deficits. The onus thus falls on the state to make do with its available resources towards meeting all the needs of the state and this is what the Ministry of economic planning and budget (MEPB) as headed by Commissioner, Sam Egube, seeks to attain with the state’s financial resources. Given the ongoing pandemic, the job of the state in mitigating the far-reaching effect on businesses and individuals alike has been further heightened.
The recently released financials for Q1 2020 reveal an actual revenue for the quarter of ₦282.6 billion, a figure 101% higher than the actual revenue of 2019 which stood at ₦140.7 billion and 6% higher than the budget for 2020 which stood at ₦267.8 billion. The revenue for the quarter consists of ₦100.3 billion on internally generated revenue, ₦141 billion on capital receipts, and ₦41.2 from federal transfers.
Yemisi87: Some pastors support it. I was a Sunday school teacher in a Penticostal church and I preached against immoral dressing in one of our Sunday school services. The pastor of the church collected mic during question and answer section and said that ladies like to show their curves. If you see the way the ladies including the married women in the church were praising him. As God would have it, two weeks after, a married man in the church was caught with another divorce lady who also have to be member of the church in a neighboring hotel.
I don't even waste my time in leaving the church. I'm now a Sunday school teacher in RCCG.
Not all pastors are children of God. It is one of the sign of this end time. If you are truly born again and you don't want anybody to drag you to hell fire, you better relocate from that kind of church and ask Holy Spirit to guide you to the right church.
Jesus is Lord.
Why do you think that most, if not all pastors/imams/priests are mainly focused on sexual sins and not corruption/stealing/abuse of office?
How is he different from ordinary Nigerians who burn people on suspicion of stealing chicken or phone? Worth far less than 5k. Why are most of us such bloody hypocrites
After stealing several billions under PDP he can't spare 5k
Is Barawo Bubu, ThiefNuibu and other Association of Past/Present Criminals, APC rogues any different? Okay, maybe they are different because they steal several trillions and are forgiven their sins by comrade chairman and Vacant Pastor (VP) Osinbajo.

Ajibel: I don't have, you don't too so why mislead people and make them think that place has been the same since 2014. Instead of posting pictures from years ago, don't post anything if you don't have pictures of current realities.
There is no change since 2014 in the place. If you know that it has changed, post the new pictures or stop wailing already.
Ajibel: Not wail, but burst misinformation from people like you.
How far with Gbadamosi campaign? I think you should be more busy canvassing support for him that all these you're doing.
Burst misinformation with your own lies and propaganda as usual with the Association of Past/Present Criminals, APC leaders looters and followers? Where did you pull Gbadamosi from? Some part of your body where the sun never reaches?
Ajibel: Very predictable. Pictures from 2014. Anonimi has done it again. I was expecting picture of Fashola inspecting trains which is one of your favorites
Very predictable that you don’t have pictures of the same place in 2020!
adolfHitler1934: What difference has it made since the closure other than untold hardship here in Nigeria and humiliation by Ghana and other tiny West African countries.
This government does not have any economic policy as they didn't prepare before grabbing power which was their major target.
Untold hardship is a phrase synonymous with the name of Barawo Bubu from time immemorial.
