NGpatriot: Nigeria, China, and India made the top 10 list of governments that have done the most in the past year to improve the ease of doing business in their countries, the World Bank said on Wednesday.
Despite the bitter trade war, in which the United States is demanding reforms from Beijing to protect intellectual property and open its economy further to American businesses, China made the top 10 list for the second year in a row.
With those improvements, China leapfrogged France to take the 31st spot in the “ease of doing business” ranking, moving up 15 places, according to the World Bank report.
And despite US complaints, the report credited China with improving protections for minority investors, strengthening procedures for enforcing contracts and making trade easier with changes to customs administration and port infrastructure.
“Removing barriers facing entrepreneurs generates better jobs, more tax revenues and higher incomes, all of which are necessary to reduce poverty and raise living standards,” World Bank Group President David Malpass said in a statement.
Nigeria is also ranked 131 on the list after moving up by 15 places from its 2019 spot.
“Nigeria conducted reforms impacting six indicators, including making the enforcement of contracts easier, which placed the 200-million-person economy among the world’s top improvers.
“Only two Sub-Saharan African economies rank in the top 50 on the ease of doing business rankings while most of the bottom 20 economies in the global rankings are from the region,” WorldBank said in a statement. If we have a dullard as president, must we all follow him in his illiteracy and incompetence? How does ease of doing business equal the entire economy The man ruling ruining and leading looting our country since 2015 confessed that he has wrecked the country and made us world capital of extreme poverty hence giving us another fake promise of lifting people out of poverty. What a conundrum of ironies. www.nairaland.com/attachments/2026486_buharinoschool_jpeg7b091b4b2030902d513c2f395f96a19dEconomy still in bad shape, Buhari tells 36 governors December 15, 2018
However, speaking with State House correspondents soon after the meeting with Buhari ended, the Chairman of the NGF and Governor of Zamfara State, Mr Abdulazeez Yari, disclosed that the President complained to them that the economy was still in a bad shape.
He stated that Buhari urged Nigerians to still tighten their belts and prepare for tougher times ahead.
According to Yari, Buhari opened up to the governors during the 30-minute meeting, telling them that “the economy is in a bad shape and that we have to come together, think and rethink on the way forward.”
Pressed further to speak on the details of the discussions with the President, Yari declined, but stated, ”(The President) talked to us in a manner that we have a task ahead of us; we should tighten our belts and see how we can put the Nigerian economy in the right direction.”

THE controversy trailing the aborted establishment of RUGA settlements for Fulani herders in parts of the country may be far from over.
Senate Chief Whip, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, on Friday said that the apprehension being expressed over the plan by the Federal Government to create Fulani settlements for herders under the acronym name of RUGA was misplaced.
He told reporters in Abuja that he established a successful RUGA settlement in Abia State when he was governor of the state in 2001.
The controversial cattle market, he said, is located in Lokpanta, Umunneochi Local Government Area, along Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway.

A massive riot broke out in Mile 12 area of Lagos, Southwest Nigeria on Thursday as Hausa and Yoruba communities in the area clashed.
Eyewitnesses say houses and about two churches have been set ablaze in the riot as men of the Rapid Respond Squad, RRS, have been drafted to the area to forestall peace.
People are said to be fleeing their homes as houses were being set ablaze by the rioters.
The police seem helpless, an eye witness told PM News as the rioters continued to take laws in their hands despite the presence of policemen in the area.
A resident of the area said he fled the area to Berger as the crisis deepens.
The resident, who craved anonymity said crisis started when an Hausa Okada rider drove against traffic and hit another Yoruba Okada rider.
In the hot exchange that followed, it was gathered that the Hausa Okada rider brought out a dagger and stabbed the Yoruba man.
The Hausas were said to have mobilised and attacked the Yoruba community leading to the crisis.

Some monarchs in the South-West have condemned the police arrests of only persons of Yoruba descent in connection with the recent clash between Yoruba and Hausa communities in Ile-Ife, Osun State, describing the action as bias.
The monarchs, who questioned the rationale behind the arrests of only persons from one of the two tribes involved in the clash, also warned the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration and the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, against moves capable of fuelling ethnic crisis in the country.
According to them, the manner in which the police swiftly arrested only Yoruba persons and paraded them in the Federal Capital Territory, hundreds of kilometres away from Ile-Ife, had aroused their suspicions.
They asked why the various killings by suspected Fulani herdsmen across the country had failed to attract a similar response from the law enforcement agency, while noting that ideally, the police should have arrested suspects from the two sides engaged in the clash.
The police have been the subject of criticisms for arresting and parading 20 Yoruba persons, including a monarch, over the clash, while not a single Hausa/Fulani person was detained, even though both groups involved in the clash were said to have had casualties.

Emilokoiyawon: Nigeria is a funny country. Some one comes to your farm and destroy your crops using his cow...and this is called herdmen-farmers dispute. I don't understand.
If somebody breaks into my house and destroy my property and eat my food that is called trespassing and destruction of property. Nigerians there is nothing like herdsmen-farmers dispute. Dispute suggests there is a confusion on the ownership of the farm. There is none. The farm belongs to the farmer not the herdsmen.
The herdsmen are committing crimes all over Nigerian and should be arrested and prosecuted. The job of the Nigerian police is to protect Nigerian lives and property. The police should be arresting the herdsmen for destroying people's farms. The police are not doing their jobs hence the youths are taking it upon themselves to protect the farms. Nigeria is a funny country. True that. The Fulani Republic of Naijeriya, FRN is however a very serious enterprise of scheming land grabbers. That should explain the tele-guided use of dispute in this matter rather than calling it the crime of trespass that it is.www.nairaland.com/attachments/3937527_buharisardauna_jpegcb12decad1bd9dd31b45d009f2877b1fPhockPhockMan: It was on 13 October 2000, when words went round that General Muhammadu Buhari was leading the Arewa team to the governor’s office to confront the state over alleged killings of Fulani cattle rearers in Saki, Oke Ogun Area of the state. Buhari did actually telephone the governor that he was leading a team to his office.
In less than 30 minutes after the general informed the governor of his visit, we noticed that the entire secretariat was already filled with lorry loads of our brothers from the North. This created some tension but we kept our calm. At about 2 p.m., Buhari arrived in a long convoy at the governor’s office in company of the former governor of Lagos State, General Buba Marwa, Alhaji Aliko Muhammed, Alhaji Abdulrazak and Alhaji Hassan. They all wore long faces. In fact, the anger in them was palpable as all pleasantries extended to them were ignored. “This is trouble” was the expression on the faces of all of us in the governor’s office. Shortly afterwards, the state Director of State Security Service (SSS) and Commissioner of Police arrived. But their presence did not change anything particular on the fears that had already gripped majority of us. The two security chiefs did not come with any operatives, they came almost alone.
The meeting was called to order after Lam walked into the Executive Chambers. Introductions over, Buhari spoke on their mission to the governor’s office. Emitting fire, the general accused Lam and the government of Oyo State of complicity in the killing of over 68 Fulani people in Oke Ogun area and perversion of justice. His words: “Your Excellency, our visit here is to discuss with you and your government our displeasure about the incident of clashes between two peoples… the Fulani cattle rearers and merchants are today being harassed , attacked and killed like in Saki. In the month of May, 2000, 68 bodies of Fulani cattle rearers were recovered and buried under the supervision and protection from a team of Mobile Police from Oyo State Command. “ That some arrests were made by Oyo State Police Command in the massacre with their immediate release without court trial. This was said to have been ordered by Oyo State authorities and they were so released to their amazement. The release of the arrested suspects gave the clear impression that the authorities are backing and protecting them to continue the unjust and illegal killings of Fulani cattle rearers…” According to the general, they therefore wanted immediate stoppage of the killings, justice and compensation to the Fulanis.
As weighty and indicting as Buhari’s allegations were, Lam remained unperturbed. He fired back with his own well coordinated arsenals. Lam identified all the points raised by Buhari and simply asked the heads of the organizations directly involved to respond to the allegations. First to speak was the Commissioner of Police who debunked all the claims. Instead of the allegation that the natives were killing Fulanis, the commissioner said pointedly that the opposite was the case. “ The killing of the natives by the Fulanis was duly reported to the police and, of course, we can’t make arrest because, as soon as they kill, they migrate to other areas. Who are you going to arrest? That is the problem”. On the killing of Fulanis, which he said was as result of “piled up anger”, the commissioner disclosed that arrests had been made and the suspects were in police custody. Next was the Director of SSS, who equally debuked the allegations by Buhari. “The natives don’t have problem with the Fulanis who are resident but those who are coming in, they don’t care about anybody. They just go ahead and when they graze the natives farms, whoever cares to challenge them runs into trouble. You said 68 people were killed , and people driven away. I am not saying there were no killings but they cannot be more than five. The petition is on the harsh side, there is nothing like that.” Not done yet, Lam called in his Deputy, Barrister Iyiola Oladokun; his SSG, Chief Michael Koleoso, both from Oke Ogun, and the chairman of one of the affected local government areas, Mr Ademola Alalade. They stated the true position of things, corroborating the submissions of the security chiefs. At this point, all the tensions and apprehensions evaporated.
Trust Lam any day, he must rub it in. He spoke for about 20 minutes and the generals were at the edge of their seats for the entire period. They were like chicken that had just been thoroughly beaten by the rain. Lam said: “ Before I thank you for this visit, you have come to tell me something. I also want to tell you something and that something is to make an appeal. General Buhari has been a former Head of State, Brigadier Marwa has governed Lagos for some time and with credibility… so you are national leaders of this country. Even though, by accident of birth, you are from the North, you can be born anywhere; may be next time when I am coming to the world, I will be born in the North or the South-South. “My appeal will be that effort must be made to unite this country and that will be ïn the best interest of all Nigerians. I am appealing to the Arewa Consultative Forum, under which auspices our distinguished Nigerians are here; in recent times, they have been sending wrong signals to a number of us who believe in the unity and peace of Nigeria; you have been too critical of the efforts of the Federal Government. I am saying this because Nigeria, at this point, cannot afford to break and the words you northern leaders utter are very weighty, at the South here, we normally analyze them critically”.
On all the allegations, he said: “From what they have written in the petition, this government is completely blameless because we don’t interfere either with the judiciary or with the police functions. I always preach peaceful co-existence in Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole. We are all Nigerians and that is what we have been preaching all along and we shall continue to be Nigerians , no matter the present or immediate problems which will be solved by the grace of Allah. “I want to say also that we really have to appeal to our people, the itinerant Bororo people, that they should observe less aggression. It is not good , it is not right just coming from somewhere then you just pass through farm lands cultivated may be with the person’s life savings and then over night everything is gone. That is not right, even Allah does not approve of that.
We even wonder when they talk about this people carrying dangerous weapons, I say do they really believe in Allah? When you just take life like that and go away! Are we not forbidden not to take human life? So I think General Buhari, General Marwa, you have to be educating them… It is my pleasure to inform you that at the Presidential Lodge, we have made some arrangements for refreshments so that before you go we can refresh together”.
Buhari and his team did not wait for any refreshments. They came in angry and left bewildered.

Mrchippychappy: Self-styled prophet Michael Oluronbi, originally from Nigeria, was found guilty of the offences against six women and a man - five of whom attended his church.
In a confession videoed last year by a victim's family member Oluronbi claims the devil made him commit his terrible crimes and described himself as 'an animal'.
Some of his offences were carried out after he convinced victims to take part in 'spiritual bathing', which he claimed would 'cleanse' them of evil spirits.
He was convicted on Friday after a trial at Birmingham Crown Court, and his offending can now be reported after restrictions were lifted.
During the trial, a jury heard that some of his young female victims became pregnant multiple times but were taken to abortion clinics by qualified pharmacist Oluronbi, to cover up what was happening.
'Everything was my fault' admits pastor in video confession
In a confession videoed last year by a victim's family member who had confronted him, the 'feared' pastor is heard saying: 'Everything was just my fault, and as I said before, I wasn't meant to be human.
'I wasn't meant to live under the roof of any human being and I said that I was an animal.'
The footage was released by West Midlands Police after the trial.
The victim's relative is then heard, off-camera, asking the pastor: 'You know I said that you are a paedophile? Everyone knows that you're a paedophile. You know that that's the name they give to your type?'
Oluronbi, who appears on camera in a formal shirt and tie speaking animatedly, raising his hands but with his eyes shut, then replies: 'Fine.'
He also claims the devil made him carry out the abuse.
Despite the recording, Oluronbi denied any wrongdoing during the trial, forcing his victims to give evidence against him during nine weeks of legal proceedings.
He even laughed in the witness box while giving his own evidence.
He was convicted of 15 counts of rape, seven counts of indecent assault and two counts of sexual assault.
The 60-year-old's wife Juliana was convicted of three counts of aiding and abetting rape after helping arrange some of the terminations.
The religious leader was brought to justice after one of his victims, now an adult, came forward. The guy is not just a paedophile for girls but also boys. Truly an animal as he confessed. That useless Fadoyinbo is lucky he did not commit his paedophilic rape in the UK, he would have been rotting in jail after the Bukola girl, now an adult came forward with her allegations, which also the useless fox in sheep's clothing confessed to her family back then. www.nairaland.com/attachments/4155194_religionquote_jpeg51ef818e81f851e5958395931ebafe6f |

soobaba: Hi guys, So I'll be very direct and summarize this as possible. But please bear with me if I get carried away...
I've been been dating my girlfriend for a year now and we are very serious and I'm even considering proposing to her, but we are not based in the same town.
So I called her with another number last night, she couldn't recognize my voice cause I sounded different, so I decided to play around cause we gist and make fun of each other a lot. So I acted like I was someone who got her number and is trying to toast her.
She asked who was speaking and I said Victor, that I got her number when I saw her in the bank, we were on the same queue, so I copied her number from her teller, she laughed and all, so after all the lines I poured out, she was just laughing and flowing along, so I asked if we could see that night, but she said it was late but I had to persuade her, so she agreed that I instead come to her place to see her. "This is someone she hasn't met before and she agreed for him to come see her at her place, in the night for that matter".
So I asked for her address and she gave out her real address, asked if she has a boyfriend and she said yes but we ain't in the same town. I got upset and had to open up and ask why she's cheating on her guy? At this point she was mute and ended the call. I called back but she didn't answer anymore.
So I just dropped a message on WhatsApp that I was disappointed.
Her reply was devastating: she wrote; "keep your disappointment in your pocket. Don't even get me more angry. Just do yourself a favor by not ever mentioning me in your mouth again. Remove everything that has to do with me in your phone and life. Rubbish. No be only disappointment. Grow up. Comot for my front make I see road jor..."
I haven't replied her yet, don't even know what to say to her right now, thought about calling her but my brother told me not to, that I should just free her. Please guys what should I do?
Moderator please help me move this to front page... She don pusssy whip you |

I'm telling you this from experience. You just gave the wackest justification ever. Tell your story as you like or as you told it to them?No wonder we have a minister of misinformation and propaganda sitting tight despite his lack of transparency on how the money of the people is spent by him.Revealed: How Buhari Budgeted N39 billion for Propaganda
In a bid to launder his already battered image, President Muhammadu Buhari has allocated a whooping sum of N39 billion in the 2016 budget to the Ministry of Information and Culture, a sum higher than the paltry N29 billion allocated to the Ministry of Agriculture.
This is a direct inverse of the 2015 budget, where Former President Goodluck Jonathan allocated the sum of N23 billion to Ministry of Information and N39 billion to the Agricultural Ministry.
The meager allocation to the Agricultural ministry has left political stakeholders wondering if the present administration aims at diversifying the economy or thriving on propaganda.
Buhari had in August, 2015 stated that Nigerians must stop paying mere lip service to agriculture, as crude oil and gas exports will no longer be sufficient as the country’s major revenue earner.
“It’s time to go back to the land. We must face the reality that the petroleum we had depended on for so long will no longer suffice. We campaigned heavily on agriculture, and we are ready to assist as many want to go into agricultural ventures,’’ Buhari stated.
However investigations by Post Nigeria revealed that Buhari’s words did not match his action following the lean budgetary provision for Agriculture.

Islie: Following the bail application made by the defence counsel, Usman Belgore, the Chief Magistrate of the Court, A.O Muhammed, released the defendants on self-recognizance and on the basis that they are innocent until proven otherwise.
The conditions of bail include two sureties each who are relatives of the defendants with a bail bond of N200,000.
The case was then adjourned to January 13, 2020. However, when the matter was called on Monday, the prosecutor could not provide his witness and as such, the magistrate further adjourned to January 28.
Fresh Case:
After the adjournment on Monday, the two journalists were served with a writ of summons by the legal practitioner of Hillcrest Agro-Allied Industries Limited.
In the document obtained by PREMIUM TIMES, the company demanded N500 million from the duo.
The company also seeks an order compelling the defendants to retract and delete the links of the report from their platform and ensure the deletion of same from all platforms on the internet that have copied it.
Hillcrest is also asking for an apology from the online news platform and two national dailies.
The journalists have insisted that the story was accurate and they stand by its content. Their own case better than those locked up by governors in jail and the keys thrown away. Since the majority of the people are not vocal enough against these atrocities, they will continue. www.nairaland.com/attachments/10586428_fbimg15736654320838424_jpegd42241580d772ab6f2e4383c755894e8https://izquotes.com/quotes-pictures/quote-first-they-came-for-the-communists-but-i-was-not-a-communist-so-i-did-not-speak-out-then-they-came-martin-niemoller-285246.jpg |
