Kamala Harris, Joe Biden’s Vice Presidential Pick, Is Nigeria’s In-law! |The Source

Kamala Harris

By Charles Igbo

Surprise, surprise!

If Joe Biden, the USA Democratic Party Presidential candidate, and his Vice Presidential candidate, Senator Kamara Harris, win the November election, and take charge of the White House, Nigeria can make some noise. The country can claim a little stake at the White House.

Kamara’s niece, Meena, is married to a Nigerian son, Nik (Nicholas) Ajagu.

Nik is the son of Dr. Chris Ajagu, from Nimo, Anambra state.

He works with Facebook as a Top Executive, while his wife, Meena, is a staff Attorney with Uber.

Both of them live in San Francisco, and have kids.

Senator Harris, whose mother is from India, and father from Jamaica, is the first blackwoman to be nominated as a Vice Presidential candidate of a major party in the USA.

She was also the first blackwoman to be the Attorney General of California, and the second black woman to be a Senator.

Now, if she is elected the Vice President of the US, she will be the first Nigerian in-law in the White House.

To the excitement and applause of Democrats and not a few people in America, Biden picked Senator Harris as his running mate. The popular thinking is that she would be an exciting plus, to Biden’s chances for a possible victory.

Nigeria At 60: APGA Honour Zik, Ojukwu and Nwafor-Orizu

By Ejike Abana (ABS Reporter)

As part of activities to commemorate Nigeria's sixtieth independence anniversary today, 1st October 2020, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Willie Obiano on Inter-Party Affairs, Chief Ben Obi led some APGA party faithful to honour three founding fathers in Nigeria, who are of Anambra extraction.

The founding fathers so honoured include, late Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe, late Chief Dim Odumegwu Ojukwu and late Dr Nwafor Orizu.

The visit were a member of the board of trustees of APGA, Chief Rommey Eze-Onwuka, Special Adviser on Budget/Efficiency Unit/ AIRS, Chief Melie Onyejepu, among others.

The visit first took the party members to the Ziks Mausoleum, Onitsha where presentations were made, afterwhich they proceeded to late Ojukwu's final resting place in his hometown, Nnewi and rounded off the visit, paying homage at late Nwafor Orizu's resting place.

Speaking on the reason for the visit, Chief Obi said that the late fathers deserve all the respect.

While calling on ndi Igbo to think home investment-wise, Chief Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu Junior said that it is a thing of honour to be remembered for great deeds, advocating for unity to make Nigeria work with equality across board, because ndi Igbo have alot to offer Nigeria.

Also speaking, Prince Onwanetilora Nwafor-Orizu, Prince Nnamsom Nwafor-Orizu and Dr. Uju Nwafor-Orizu, appreciated Governor Obiano, stressing that it is the first of its kind by any government and called for a recourse to education and other virtues which their patriarchs stood and fought for including, patriotism, nationalism, service and giving.

Cows and APGA Uniforms were used to pay homage to the families.

Highpoint was dance and tour of Nwafor Orizu Library collections which contains many of his personal effects till his demise.

ChimaAdeoye:
The airport should have the required length od runway and electronic instrument landing system before Obiano leaves office. Once the airport is generating its own income, even if the next governor decides not to fund it, it will gradually fund itself to complete the taxiways, airfield lighting and terminal building.

Obiano's primary job now is to make sure the airport becoame operational before he leaves office to ensure it can begin to fund it's own development. Albeit slowly.
I couldn't have said it any better than this.

ChimaAdeoye:
Airports are super capital intensive that even rich western countries can develop them in one single swing. The development of airports are phased over so many years so that the resources generated through operation of the airports are ploughed into upgrading of the infrastructure at the airport. To develop this airport to its full specification, the development must be phased over a few years. The Phase 1 is the very important to get it operational and begin to generate resources that can be used for its further development.

Phase 1: By April 2021: Completion of 3.5KM Runway, 12 stories high Control Tower and Basic terminal building
Operational capability: Daylight domestic flights

Phase 2: By December 2025: Completion of Taxiway, Permanent Passenger and Cargo terminals, Installation of Cat 2 ILS and Airfield lighting system. Completion of aviation fuel depot at the airport linked by pipeline to Orient Modular refinery.
Operational capability: Night landing, International Flights, Major aviation fuel facility for the West African sub-region.

Phase 3: By December 2050: Completion of the second parallel runway and taxiways. Expansion of the Passenger and Cargo terminal to full capacity.
Operational capability: More international airlines use the airport as a regional transit hub for continental flights.
You did a very good job with the projection

Y not 10 lanes?

Wat does it take to add 2 more?
6 or 8 is ok. It is actually 6, not 8. Most Nigerian airports have just 4lanes access with exception of Abuja and Lagos that have 8 or 10.

6-lanes Anambra international airport road under construction. The road is about 10km stretch to the airport. From the information available they have done earthworks and granite up to 8km, remaining 2km to reach the airport site before the actual asphalt starts. As at the time of getting the pictures, massive work that involves about 5 major contractors were at the airport precinct working to beat the commissioning date.

ChimaAdeoye:
The obssession with the bridge is legendary. Infact, apart from helping you cut through upper Iweka traffic and perhaps help open up the Atani/Obosi swamp by passing a road over it the bridge cannot add anymore to people's lives.

Again while thanking everyone building the bridge from President Buhari to the laborers used by Julius Berger, the biggest THANK YOU must go to the United States that initially refused to release the Abacha loot to Nigeria until it was mentioned that the money will be invested in building the second niger bridge. Which they can easily observe and verify. If the Americans did not insist on seeing a project for the loot, the bridge would have since been abandoned after the loot was released to the FG of Nigeria.
Even if it is just because of the highlighted part, isn't good a enough a reason to appreciate something good. Though the benefits of the bridge and associated infrastructures cannot be over emphasized, but please don't allow your hate for Buhari to blindfold you. I am not even a big fan of Buhari. Please be objective because I have a lot of respect for you.
