." We have enough of capital to fix not only ourselves, but also invest in the Continent. "

so true. anton. when i see the jay-z's, the p.diddy's and the other misguided rich, influential african americans making and hoarding so much money while their peeps are languishing in want, makes me wonder. huh huh but then again our african leaders are short sighted and look to the white man for all they need without looking inwards to see how we as a people can better ourselves.
Most of these characters are clowns, Unfortuntely. The things us folks have to the do is to learn the financial markets of the world and learn how they work so we can actively take part in it as traders and investors! That way the PEOPLE can fund what we need amd SHAME the rich by investing more into the community than them! Waiting on thse rich bastards to do anything is foolish in my opinoin.

Fela is SOOOOO critical. International Thief Thief!!! I - T - T!! Fela was the MAN!!!

Carmelily,

Are you a student. Do you have any ideas that you would like to contribute to the Trans Atlantic Afrikan Student Union?

What I am trying to figure out is what happened that was so critical that dude's whole administration had to resign? To me, that is just crazy. There is probably a whole lot more to it than is being said.

Also, this is the same lady that was apart of that movie by the dutch guy that got kilt by radical muslim. Also, apparently, while she was in the safe house, her neighbors made her move because they said she was a security threat to them even tho the local authorities said the area was one of the most secure in the country.

Now, she is coming the the United Snakes to work for the American Enterprise Institute, so i hoped to get insight from the more politically astute, maybe someone in urope.

The use of asymmetric warfare (covert operations) may allow you to engage the enemy in an area with a high risk of civilian casualty. But usually the success of such operations do not translate into substantial gains and the war drags on.
Do you have some operations that you would like tell us about that illustrates your point that "usually the success of such operations [assymetric] do not translate into substantial gains and the war drags on". I am always on the lookout for battlefield, strategy, and policy failures.

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands - The Dutch prime minister said Thursday his government will resign after his coalition split over the citizenship case of a Somali-born lawmaker.

Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende said he will tender his resignation to Queen Beatrix on Friday, signaling the collapse of his 3-year-old government and likely early elections within several months, rather than next May as scheduled.

The political turmoil began last month when the immigration minister known for her hard-line policies threatened to revoke the passport of Somali-born lawmaker Ayaan Hirsi Ali, after the legislator admitted falsifying her name to escape an arranged marriage when she applied for asylum in 1992.

Hirsi Ali, 36, resigned her seat, but parliament ordered Immigration Minister Rita Verdonk to reconsider her decision. On Tuesday, Verdonk reversed it, having discovered a loophole: Under Somali law, Hirsi Ali's false name was technically legal because it was her grandfather's family name.

The governing coalition split Thursday as one party defected in a stinging rebuke of the immigration minister for her clumsy handling of the citizenship case.

Hirsi Ali's political downfall has exposed divisions among the Dutch about whether their strict immigration policies — now being imitated elsewhere in Europe — have gone too far or not far enough.

Hirsi Ali, whose name before leaving Somalia 14 years ago was Hirsi Magan, became an international figure after the 2004 murder of Dutch filmmaker Theo van Gogh by a Muslim fanatic over a film that criticized the treatment of women under Islam. Hirsi Ali wrote the script.

Van Gogh's murder led to an anti-immigrant backlash, including the burning of mosques and a crackdown on radical Muslims. Hirsi Ali went into hiding for months, and still lives under 24-hour police protection, now in the United States.

Verdonk faced criticism after Hirsi Ali signed a statement acknowledging that she had "misled" Verdonk by saying she had lied about her name.

"To ask someone to sign a statement like that, just to save your own face, it's not worthy of a minister," said Wouter Bos, leader of the opposition Labor party.

Hirsi Ali, meanwhile, has accepted a job in Washington with the American Enterprise Institute for Public Policy Research, a think tank.

BusinessRe: What Business Can Invest Into With N2,000,000? by anton(m): 3:16am On Jun 28, 2006
I would suggest forgetting about finding someway to invest it by the end of june. You are going to need time to study and develop your investment strategy.

As far as financial investings, i would suggest trading us stock options and the foreign exchange. The time factor becomes an issu because if you really want to maximize your profits then you need to develop yourself to be a trader and handle your own business.

You can also think about using a portion of your capital to get a foreign exchange managed account where professional traders take care of your accounts. You can email me for those links.

I would then suggest you find some nigerian youths to invest in who are already on the road and at least working to become successful. Really, that is one of the most important things you can invest in.

I hear the little fast food joints in naija are kinda popular. Have you thought about buying one of them?

There is plenty that you can do to not only get a profit but invest in your community and nation. You just have to think about it and move in that direction.

AdvertsRe: Forex Charts For The Naira by anton(m): 2:41am On Jun 28, 2006
True, currancy traders can not trade the naira, nor would they want to; instability. Hopefully, the naira will eventually make it to the exchange and be traded against the euro, usd, gbp, chf, and yen. That is a serious strategic thing we should be concerned about. Having a serious, repsectable role in the financial markets of the world. Maybe a unified west african currancy cool.

There are some exotic currancy pairs that one can trade but i don't think most traders even deal with them becasue of the risk.

Now that i think about, i am sure that you COULD but a lot or 2 MANUALLY at your bank, but electronically, i think you are out of luck. sad

VitaGoat Helps Improve Nutrition

Rural entrepreneur Rita Lazaro makes soy milk at home with a VitaGoat machine, which can produce eight gallons, (30 liters) of the nutritious product an hour.
Rita Lazaro is a successful businesswoman in Munhinga in central Mozambique's Manica Province, employing three people to help press sesame and sunflower oil. In 2004, USAID installed a VitaGoat food-processing system in Rita's compound and chose her to lead a pilot enterprise project using VitaGoat to make soy milk and other high-nutrition products as part of an effort to improve food security in Mozambique. Now, with USAID support, Rita works with more than 150 families, teaching them improved agriculture and nutrition practices.
Requiring no electricity, VitaGoat is specifically designed for conditions in rural Africa. To make soy milk with VitaGoat, soaked soybeans first are ground using a grinder powered by a stationary bicycle. The beans then are mixed with water and put in a stainless-steel pressure cooker heated by a wood-fired steam boiler. Finally, the product is filtered using a manual press.
VitaGoat gives small-scale producers with limited resources the opportunity to make eight gallons (30 liters) of soy milk and yogurt an hour, as well as other value-added products including peanut butter, tomato juice and ground coffee.
Rita's machine works well, but milk distribution has been hampered by the fact that the product spoils after 24 hours. So Rita and USAID are now researching what type of packaging will provide longer life for the milk, so that it can be sold and used to fight malnutrition in Mozambique.
