Do you know edo means yellow in igbo. Does that mean Edo pple are Igbos?
Try harder.

Good for you, anyway it seems like you have gotten a hold of the Wikipedia page, what is the very first statement that you can you read?

The Awori are a tribe of the Yoruba people speaking a distinct dialect of the Yoruba language.

Case closed.

Aworis are not Yoruba's, there was a time they asked Yoruba's to leave lagos for them. Ijebu too are not Yoruba's, oba of ijebu said they are Sudanese.
I don't know of egba but egun definitely not yoruba.
Are you ok? I am both Ijebu and Awori and they are indeed Yoruba. Go to sleep.

You are a liar. Anybody can log into wikipedia and write any rubbish which is never fact. You dare not even call people from Ijesha, Arogbo-Ijaw, Akoko, Ife, Ogbomosho and Okun Yorubas without getting a dirty slap in your face. The Ife people for example are from Sudan and this have been proven already.

Please do not call me a liar. You sound so silly you realise right that there's no 'specific neutral' type of Yoruba, they all come from a specific sub-group. Example my family originate from the Aworis and Ijebus on my mothers side and ijebus on my father's side.

Who is from sudan ?, ile ife is a Yoruba term to describe the orgins of the Yoruba. Look are you Yoruba ? I'm guessing your not, as the things you are saying make no sense.

Wikipedia cannot be edited as easily as many people claim, that is a myth, you can try if you want if you don't believe me. All there articles are moderated by experts if you try editing an article.

Look how did I even end up arguing with people who are clearly not Yoruba about our OWN culture. Let me leave you to deceive yourself.

This is exactly what i want them to understand, but Ola6 is here claiming Yoruba when he is just Awori and nothing else. He need to ask his people serious questions about whom he is. Perhaps, he is still too young to understand exactly who he is, so we can forgive him. Those from Badagry don't even see themselves as Yorubas, talk-less of a full blooded Aworian.

For crying out loud watch yourself. All the names you've mentioned are just the different dialects of spoken Yoruba, Ijebu for example is an Ogun state dialect.

Please change the name of the thread as you are making it seem like Yorubas are confused people, we are all the same from western Nigeria to Togo.

And please google is your friend.

Bialegend:
Are Ilajes, Aworis, Egbas, Ijebus, Ikales and Eguns really Yoruba? Infact who are the real Yorubas. I was discussing with my co-worker whom i thought was Yoruba, so as the dicussion progressed, i said something like "you Yorubas", and this guy got so annoyed and cautioned me immediately and maintianed that his ethnic group is Ilaje and wanred me seriously never to call him a Yoruba. He also made me to understand that even the Aworis, Egbas, Ijebus, Ikales and Eguns are different ethnic groups from the Yorubas. So my Yoruba peeps in here where is the different between you guys and the Ilajes.

Armaggedon:
Egun are clearly not yoruba, awori have repeatedly warned against being called yoruba.
An ijebu chief last month insisted they are from sudan and not yoruba. I think a proper study needs to be done to avoid lumping pple with another group against their will.

Again google is your friend, Egun is a Yoruba word, Ijebus are famous due to there very powerful YORUBA army, and which Aworis, Aworis are 100% Yoruba, the name means the plate has sunk in Yoruba.

I will help you, most of the people who Buhari has appointed have already worked with him in the past, they have a track record and they are people who he strongly trusts.

The man came into office and one of his promises was to get rid of corruption, how can he do that without appointing people who he deeply can trust. At the end of the day they are Nigerian, and I don't support the tribal mentality that some people on Nairaland have.

You are talking incoherent crap here. Please tell me, what is the population of SE versus that of SW, NW, NC and NE? Let's even exclude tribal populations since we do not have one now. Why does the SE have less total population than the other regions? Simple answer: (1) reduction in number of kids and to a lesser extent (2) emigration (travel) of the population. I have mentioned both in my opening post. Now go to bed.

Hehe, have I not shown you what the population difference is between all the major ethnic groups in this country already?
grin grin grin grin, you sound so silly, honestly it is so easy to counter all the nosense you say here.

Ok,this is your foolish reasoning: smaller state means bigger population due to less space. Not even kids are this ignorant.

Ok I shall end this argument here, Is Osun,Ekiti,Ebonyi,Abia,Akwa ibom,Rivers,Enugu or even Abuja as densely populated as Anambra or Imo?

They are similar in land area right, so why are they not as densely populated as Anambra or Imo. You don't have to be an expert to understand that those two states are just naturally overpopulated. I won't make a fool out of you, your doing a good job of that yourself.

I'm in a good mood so I will not embarrass you, find me his allowances from deputy governor to President. I can promise you it cannot even reach up to a million pounds(310 million Naira). Yet he is building an estate in his home town, have you forget that he built he's mother a mansion, he father another mansion (again remember this was during his presidency not governor years) and they are all located in his estate.

Now don't give that nonsense that it is not an estate, he owns a monopoly of homes, some of which belongs to his family members and the rest for himself.

One mansion in that estate could not cost any less than 4 million pounds in fact since it is Otueke it will probably cost more due to the lack of available infrastructure.

So explain to me how he has made enough money for a farm that is worth in its billions of Naira and the various mansions in his estate that in totally honesty should cost more than £ 4 million pounds each, on allowances that don't even reach the total amount of one Mansion in that estate.

Oh, I do remember that 1 billion naira(4 million pounds back then) food budget allowance for his family alone in Aso Rock Villa, can you explain to me what 1 billion naira is needed for? At this point I believe you need to give in to the fact that you have lost this argument and you should denounce Gej.

Yorubas do not even make upto 60% of the Population of Lagos. Commercial activities in the state attracted people from all over Nigeria into Lagos. Telling Yoruba people to stop over populating Lagos is an Insult.

You said that Kano is 7 times less than Lagos because of it land mass and you are still saying that Kano is should stop the over growing population. That is a fallacy.

The best way to control population is to decentralize our commercial cities. That would stop people from migrating to those tiny landmass commercial cities like Lagos, Calabar, etc.

Then teach those Hausa people that they do not need to give birth to 100 children each in other to cover their Landmass. All they need to do is to change their mentality and see migrants as their colleagues and allow them to develop the land mass and harness the resources in those vast landmass.

For your Information, South East has more population Density than the North and the West because they have a very small land mass.

In bold I absolutely agree.

Oh I see I think your confused, I'm the one defending the Yorubas and Hausas theology that the other person is claiming.

Dude, you are so, so ignorant, nearly an illiterate. For your education, when you have a small land mass (e.g., Anambra and Imo) and a mid sizable population (again e.g., Anambra and Imo), you have a high population density. The population of Imo and Anambra are smaller by far than those of Lagos and Kano and Oyo, but whereas Lagos also has a small land mass (hence high population density), Oyo and Kano have large land masses, hence lower population densities. Do you understand now? Olodo

You see, you are just embarrassing yourself, what is the meaning of Ignorance? When you lack knowledge. What is the meaning of illiterate? when you cannot read and write. I have clearly shown that I am knowledgeable and that I can articulate myself with proper reasoning and evidence.

Stating the obvious such as that population density is less in Kano as they have bigger land mass is unbelievable, speaking like a kid will in no way make you you sound any smarter.

Those states: Anambra and Imo are under massive pressure due to there overpopulation, is Kano or Oyo?

Kano and Oyo can overpopulate themselves to the extent that they can become as densely populated and as crowded as Anambra and Imo but as of right now they are not. So stop arguing foolishly. You are saying the Hausas and Yorubas should stop overpopulating yet there states are as of right now ( listen this is coming from a Geography expert) are not under pressure in terms of resources or infrastructure due to overpopulation but those other states (Anambra and Imo) are.

I am informing you of information that may be hard for you to comprehend but I have explained in the most easiest of terms possible.
Politics / Re: Nigeria's Economy Can't Cope With Current Population, NPC Boss by anulaxad(m): 4:45pm On Aug 27, 2015
victorels:

And you are a contributor to wikipedia. Chai.

Population is not talking about how crowded a place is. That is population Density.

In the Chart you provided, Lagos and Kano has over 9 Million. That is their population. It means by state, Lagos and Kano has the largest population.

Population Density measures how crowded a particular area is.

It is unfair to compare a particular location in a state to another state because the infrastructures and business activities in those areas differ. An Effective tool to compare the population density of two different state is by making use of all the land mass.

Lagos is more populated than Kano by density because Kano has a larger landmass over Lagos and not because Lagos has more building infrastructure than Kano.

Wow, your just lamenting everything that I have just said.

But I believe you are going of topic, the person is telling the Yorubas and Hausas to stop overpopulating, yet Ironically after Lagos the places that are having the most problems concerning population and controlling of resources is where the person himself is from as there is a massive amount of pressure on the resources available in those states.

You do know you are ignorant, right? Do you know what density means? Do you know the difference between population density and actual population? What is the size of Anambra and Imo states' land masses, as against their respective populations? Compare those to the size of Kano, Oyo etc, as against their populations.

I am an expert at Geography so I clearly know what the difference between population density and and population size. You can argue all you like, those states after Lagos are the most crowed, why because population control was not an issue at hand according to citizens living in those states.
Kano or Oyo is not as crowded as the states mentioned earlier. The whole point of population control is to watch out for space management and to avoid a denser population area per Km-sq.

Population of those who speak each language. There isn't a huge gap in terms of population size between both our languages.

What's more interesting is that there are millions of other speakers of Hausa across west Africa including Niger, and so of Yoruba in Benin and Togo, but Igbo is mainly or only spoken In Nigeria. So Stop your ethnic slurs.

While it seems that Igbos, whether in the SE or based outside of the SE, have been able to devise a means to control their population, the other majority ethnic groups have not yet figured out how to do so. Religion and culture have been tools deployed to increase population in the North and South West, and with that have come continued or increasing poverty, especially in the North.

I understand that in Nigeria population determines how much money you get from the national purse, but such money have never been used to take care of the corresponding population of the receiving state or region; they have mostly been embezzled.

The Chinese, Japanese, Europeans and white America that have taken steps to reduce their population growth are not foolish. Igbos have learned from them, such that whereas our parents had 6 to 10 children a few decades ago, we the young ones, aged 40 years and below, now have an average of 3 kids per family. We may lose in the population-based sharing of the wealth in Nigeria, but with the continued dwindling of oil money we are going to be better off, being able to manage (educate and give a good living standard) our small families with the resources at our disposal.

I will not be surprised that if a clean and unbiased tribal-based census is conducted today, the Igbo population would be far lower than that of the Hausa-Fulani and Yoruba. This is because the Hausa-Fulani (90% muslim) and Yoruba (50%-60% muslim) societies still permit the marrying of multiple wives and, hence, giving birth to multiple children, and are less well travelled (traveling also contributes to reducing the population of an area) than their Igbo compatriots.

Why must you bring ethnicity into this?

I'm adding your name to my thread immediately.

The issue of Biafra have continued to rage for sometime now, going down memory lane from Obj, Yar Adua to Good luck Jonathans era the whole issue of biafra if at all it came up was mild. The question is why Mr. Buharis time?

The average igbo man will stand on what he believes on, that is why they stood with the former President till the end even when it was apparent he stood no chance.

While I had thought as the saying goes that you keep your friends close and keep your enemies closer, that Mr. Buhari would quickly see how to maneuver the Igbo leaders immediately he won power to his camp, he kept announcing 5% and 97% even before the international community.

As an Igbo Man who was both born and bred in Lagos state which I have come to call home , the average igbo spirit. It amuses me the way little argument of who owns Lagos can quickly degenerate to some times an Oba calling for death of fellow citizens or a Doctor in far away land will call for a xenophobic attack on other citizens.

Under an Obj, Yar Adua or Jonathans government Nigeria was no this divided , but thanks to a president that keeps campaigning 3 months after election, even up to calling for arrest and prosecution of a radio station that have not killed a soul before.

Friends ask me that what do I do to my properties in the South West if Biafra comes and I tell them that, that is why I am igbo.

Except Mr. Buhari quickly seek for ways to address the issue's of a huge chunk of the nation from perceived marginalization and cease from representing the interest of a certain village even his best chanters would soon be discouraged.

On the issue of radio Biafra I think this government have made them more popular than any thing else, my take is a kind of national conference should be called soon to address grievances and the Nation restructured to cater for even the least groups in Nigeria .

Grow up.

Mr Buhari was clearly saying that he cannot treat those differently even those regions that voted 5% for him. He was referring to the constitution.

Honestly this is not ignorance it's just annoyance, and the only leader and party responsible for this tribal and ethnic calamity is PDP and Mr.Jonathan.
