But Russia fought Georgia, fought assymetrically in Ukraine, singlehandedly aided and gave victory to the Assad government in Syria with cruise missiles flying from one continent to another and ships and planes flying sorties that surpassed the amount flown by the allied forces in WW2, and they are still very much around. Have they fallen into national poverty yet?

Leave CNN or BBSin alone if you want to get real facts. Russia is not a poor country by any standard. You call a country where millions of it's citizens can afford vacation travels around the world a poor country? Don't let them fool you friend. There are more than 40 million people living on food stamps in the US today. Every nation has its share of poverty.

Brother, military spending does not dictate capability. The Saudis outspend Russia,France and Germany, but they are not even a match in terms of armaments not to mention technological known-how or quality.

What most of you don't know is that majority of the US military budgets ends up in stationeries and maintenance of bases.. only a fragment of that sum transcend into actual armoury and new military hardware.

Most , if not all of space x tech was developed in the USA.

Their first rocket...the Falcon was a two stage rocket...typical of the 'staged' rockets developed for NASA's moon launches.(which were developed by Werner Von braun, a Nazi German scientist)

Space X is Elon's initiative...Russia has its own separate space industry and agency...which manufactures the Cosmos and Proton rockets, as well as the Soyuz capsule, which was used to transport US astronauts when the Space shuttle was retired.

Infact the Russians were not able to get a man on the moon largely because their rocket design was defective compared to the US , to give an example.
