⚡The Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs is reporting that Russian Ambassador Sergei Andreyev has Withdrawn, likely Temporarily, from the Territory of Poland despite not appearing to be Recalled by the Russian Government or Expelled by Poland; his Withdrawal is claimed to have occurred following the recent Intrusion into Polish Airspace by Russian Cruise Missiles.
This might yet be another veiled message. Provide airfields for Ukraine's F-16s and there would be no room for diplomacy whatsoever. It would be direct strikes at those airfields in the heart of Poland.

⚡Russia does not plan to attack Europe, but is ready to destroy F-16s of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and at airfields of third countries - Putin
This is a veiled warning to the likes of Poland and Romania. If they provide their airfields from which the much anticipated Ukrainian F-16s could fly from, then Russia can legitimately Target and destroy those airfields. Like someone said, we are now at the early stages of WW3.

Fingers cross.

"The values China's government uphold, once you hear about these values, you'll be truly shocked," he said in the speech.

"You don't see beggars in China asking for money... you see that in every major city in the United States and it's supposed to be the number one economy in the world.

"The values associated with democracy, for example, you are free to do whatever you want. Men can marry men, women can marry women — those are the values associated with the values of democracy.

"You have to ask yourself, what values are you comfortable with as a Christian country?"
This man just effectively dissected the warp ideology of western democratic values vis-a-vis the core values of nature as enshrined by God.

⚡A Russian strike Friday severed one of two power lines supplying Europe’s largest nuclear power plant in southeast Ukraine as Moscow launched a major assault on energy infrastructure.

“The enemy is now carrying out the largest attack on the Ukrainian energy industry in recent times,” Energy Minister German Galushchenko said on Facebook, adding that shelling had knocked out “one of the power transmission lines feeding” the Zaporizhzhia power plant.

The facility, Europe’s largest nuclear energy site, was seized by Russian troops in the first days of the war but is powered by Ukrainian lines.

“This situation is extremely dangerous and risks sparking an emergency situation”, said Ukraine’s atomic energy operator Energoatom.

In the event that the final power line is cut, it said the plant will be “on the verge of another blackout, which is a serious violation of the conditions of safe operation of the plant”.
The funniest aspect of this is Ukraine still claim to have shot down over 31 missiles out of the 32 that Russia launched on the latest salvo. Yet, every one of the targeted regions are burning up. Now we can see that all this while, Ukraine has been intercepting the incoming missiles with their targets. cool

Ghostagain, i like your simple analysis. The electoral college is necessarily needed in Nigeria settings. EC encourages equal representation. Without the EC in Nigeria, the hausas will always have their ways. They are damn too much.
Really? Have you taking the time to study how the EC system works in America? If you bring that system into Nigeria, you would just make it easier for our politicians to buy their way into government since they wouldn't need to battle even a little for people's votes.

I give up on trying to educate you on this, most Nigerians (you included) are too arrogant to be educated. I've wasted enough time already. I'm not going to repeat my arguments which you apparently need to reread several times until you manage to grasp them.

Take care.
I have noticed one defect in your analytical prowess...you're short-tempered, and that's not good for someone that write books (I may be wrong though (. You have this intellectual superiority mindset, which again is a dent on your web of knowledge. You expect your opponent to just accept your views, and when they don't, you easily thrown in the trowell, tagged them ignorant and arrogant. That's not good.

You made a point with reasons, I made a counter point with counter reasons. Logically, the discourse should continue flowing from there in the humane way it all started, and I don't see how a rebuttal constitutes arrogancy.

Well, like you said, I I will just take care and let the issue rest.

Thanks.

ClassicNairan:
But in the case of United State with only two political system, smaller demographics are being marginalised. The way elections work favors only two main political parties and leaves out others and some people's opinions. This means that many voices aren't heard as much. The Electoral College system makes it even more unfair because it can ignore what most people actually vote for. And The winner-takes-all nature of the Electoral College further exacerbates this issue, as it disregard the popular vote and disproportionately favor larger demographic groups and swing states. As a result, many citizens feel disenfranchised and disengaged from the political process, as their voices are overshadowed by the dominance of the two major parties.
The EC system actually demonstrate the so-called "tyranny of the majority on the minority" by doing the reverse, "tyranny of the minority on the majority". It does the exact thing it was designed to prevent. Unfortunately, many people do not understand how this works.

Democracy: "demo":= people, "cracy":= power.
Democracy means power to all the people as opposed to power to a selected group of people.
Once again, it is not about "majority" but about giving all the power to all the people.
The term "power to all the people" means the right of all the citizens to participate in the business of government, and that right basically manifest from electing their leaders during elections, which MUST be free and fair to reinforce the notion that real power resides with the people--the sovereign, and it's only through them can the government derive its legitimacy. But, ALL of the people can NEVER agree on one thing in toto, hence the majority factor in order to reach a compromise. This is what every sane country that practice democracy is practicing. Anything else like the American EC system is not a democracy.

In a federation in which each federal unit has its own interests, it is very silly to go by popular vote. If you do go by popular vote, then the units with less demography would have no power and their interests would be nul and void. That is not what "all the power to all the people" stands for. Democracy is not about marginalizing people!.
There is what is called "representative democracy," which is best demonstrated by the federal system of government under which the social, economic, and political interests of units with less demographies are protected. Representative democracy through the auspices of popular voting does not nullify the power of those smaller demographies, nor does it relegate them to the background, like the die-hard EC system fans wants you to believe. Even the US practice representative democracy, with the EC system being the only aberration.

In your nigerian case, if you gave each ethno-political group the same voting power irrespective of demography then the rigging would become impossible. Indeed riggers would only be able to shortchange their own ethno-political group, not the whole country. Indeed if the north wants a northerner as president, even if they claim 10 billion people voted for him in the north, that would not affect the electoral process, the voting power of each ethno-political group wouldn't change according to its population or rigging power.

Your system is not workable, and you guys don't see it, which is why you keep it and marvel at the fact it is not working each time you have elections. An other drawback to your system is the fact each group is trying to greatly increase its population and therefor the country is rapidly going through intense overpopulation.
You just made me laugh. cool Using Nigeria to measure the efficacy of the majority vote pattern that defines a true democracy does not negate the fact that the system works perfectly elsewhere. The issue with Nigeria goes beyond mere demographic battle. When you have a political society where the political ideologies of the politicians are driven by greed and corruption, there is always going to be rigging, whether or not you divide the national voting pattern equally. That Nigeria is like this doesn't mean that the popular voting is trash. Mexico, Germany, Brazil, Switzerland, and Canada are typical examples of countries that operate a federal system where the president or prime minister or whatever name they call him/her is chosen through a majority voting pattern, which, of course, differ among the aforementioned countries. And they are doing great by it. And all of them by operations agrees and conform to the idea that democracy is simply the government of the people in a majority format.

The idea of nationally distributing the voting rights equally does not exist anywhere operationally, and I can tell you that the American EC model actually create the problems you think it was meant to solve. I can update you more on this point.

You got things messed up, and I have corrected this misconception about democracy several times on this thread.
Democracy has nothing to do with "majority rule", don't confuse your Nigerian mindset with logic and situation outside Nigeria.
America is the oldest democracy in the world, and since inception they inscripted this rule which gave equal power to states irrespective of demographic comparison between states.
It has never been about "popular vote" !
It is actually more logical to not go by popular vote if you want every group to have its say, your Nigerian democracy is just about which group has bigger population or which group Riggs better. While with American democracy, it is about what each group wants, and that will be balanced by giving each group equal power.

In a multiethnic country like Nigeria, it would make much more sense to have a system of voting similar to the USA's. But since most Nigerians are extremely ill educated and don't really understand what democracy means, we have people like you judging America's democracy with the belief that Nigerian "democracy" is the model for all to follow.

I keep correcting this and people keep coming out to remake the same mistake, that is the problem with nairaland and Nigeria in general. This gets me aggravated.
Why I have decided to ignore this mindset over times on this thread, I must say, this mindset too is dangerously shallow and narrow. Democracy by definition is the government of the majority. The Nigerian model of democracy isn't and shouldn't be a basics of comparison because the people are not allowed to exercise the power vested in them by the Constitution to chose their leaders. No thanks to an entrenched system of rigging that is now the norm in our elections.
