Coca-cola competitors paid you to do this right? Too bad for you as Nairalanders are not as gullible as you think, and please go and find something decent for a living.
EducationRe: Most Annoying Common Grammatical Errors In English by APRIDE(m): 12:46pm On Sep 17, 2013
Also note the diffence between 'cannot' and 'can not'. You will observe that the former is written together whilst the latter is separated. 'cannot' expresses impossibility whilst 'can not' brings more to the ability of something. Paradoxical, isn't it? Examples: Daniel cannot do the job. This means that Daniel does not have the ability to do the job, therefore, he cannot do it. On 'can not', we can have: Daniel can not only do the job, but can head the department. Here, it means that Daniel is excemptional, he can do the job very well and can even go as far as heading the department.

Trust this helps.
EducationRe: Most Annoying Common Grammatical Errors In English by APRIDE(m): 12:35pm On Sep 17, 2013
I love this, I really do. You guys should also take note of this as I believe more than 90% well educated Nigerians make this mistake. The use of 'he or she' when the gender of a person is unknown. It should be noted that plural pronoun should be used instead of the common use of 'he or she'. Let's look at some examples: If anybody comes looking for me, tell them (not him or her) to wait. Although anybody in this context refers to one person, since the gender is not known, a plural pronoun is advisable.
If any of you does that, i will kill them (not him or her), If anybody comes forward with the answer, i will give them something special, Any of you that confesses will be forgiven their treason, If anybody fails this exam, they will go.

I have taken time to go through some past WAEC and JAMB questions in English and have come across questions relating to this problem. My guess is almost all the students may seek solution from wrong principles. Let's keep learning.

Car TalkRe: Your Experience With Buying A Nigerian Used Car by APRIDE(m): 12:34pm On May 31, 2013
I have been using a Nigerian used Toyota Corola 2004 model (Mileage - 95,000) for about two months now and i have not noticed a whiff of any kind of fault. it runs so smoothly that even my friends were in doubt about its usage thinking it was a foreign used car. The only thing i had to fix was one of the power windows' engine, i also 'gased' the AC since it was not 100% effective. I tell you, this ride is good, i did not get it on the cheap though. So i guess my car does not fall victim of the probability associated with Nigerian used vehicles.

Car TalkVehicle Mileage Interpretation...(outside And Trip Indication) by APRIDE(op): 3:06pm On May 07, 2013
I use Toyota Corolla 2003 model (American Specification). I find it difficult to interprete the mileage thereof as it is different from others that just indicate the number of kilometers covered. Mine would show a number that fluctuates between 80 and 90 and then a little 'f' as a suffix, preceded by 'outside'. At the bottom of this is a 'trip' indication that is in the region of 4 thousand now. Please can anyone in the house explain this to me viz-a-viz the actual mileagehuh
CareerRe: Chartered Insurance Institute Of Nigeria (ciin) by APRIDE(op): 2:33pm On Apr 29, 2013
Ohh yes, i work in an insurance firm, and with this certificate, you are placed far above a Bsc Holder. Some of my colleagues got promoted the moment they qualified with official cars. They are never involved in marketing as that would amount to under utilization of their potentials. They are usually placed in the technical areas of the job. Infact with this certification, you really are a hot cake in the industry coupled with the fact that other organisations apart from insurance would look to have you occupy their risk management/insurance manager's sit.I have not seen a CIIN holder that is under employed.
Car TalkRe: Cost Of Gear Lever (automatic Transmision) by APRIDE(op): 1:03pm On Apr 29, 2013
I was just told that its actually the gear cable that needs replacement and not the gear lever. The corolla is 2003 model 1.8 Engine. Do you know about this gear cable? I just bought the car and do not know much about it.
Car TalkRe: Cost Of Gear Lever (automatic Transmision) by APRIDE(op): 11:49am On Apr 29, 2013
Its the same Engine with the bank type corolla, exactly the same dash but the front and rear lights differ. Just let me know the range of prices this gear lever costs.
Car TalkRe: Cost Of Gear Lever (automatic Transmision) by APRIDE(op): 11:09am On Apr 29, 2013
It's Toyota Corola 2003/4 model(American Spec). My nephew took it out and complained later that the gear seized and would not engage, we had to call to a good mechanic who opened the bunnet and set the gear on drive mode. He said it was not a serious problem, that the gear lever was faulty and needed replacement. So, i want to know how much it is sold.
CareerChartered Insurance Institute Of Nigeria (ciin) by APRIDE(op): 9:45am On Apr 29, 2013
I have read alot about professional bodies here but to my amazement, little or nothing has been said about the CIIN. To me, it is to Insurance what ICAN/ACCA is to the accounting profession and making it is a lot more difficult. This perhaps may be due to alot of reasons which are not my objective here. I have also noticed here that people do not talk about the insurance sector that much here, despite its explosive impact on the nation's economy. Well, to those of you who are members or associate members of the professional body, what can you say about it? How has it influenced your career in the insurance industry? For the students thereof, what can you say about the 2013 April diet examination viz-a-viz the courses registered. The likes of D05 (Insurance Law), A745 (Principles of Property and Percuniary Insurance) etc. I wish you all good luck in your endeavours.

BusinessRe: What Percentage Of Your Monthly Income Do You Save? by APRIDE(m): 9:46am On Jun 05, 2012
There are hypotheses put forward by authorities on this issue. I know you will quickly object to the theory that 'the more money you have, the less you spend'. This is one of the tenents of Relative Income Hypothesis by James Dusenberry. Less professionally speaking, let's assume you earn N50,000 per month and you save N20,000 (40%) out of it,you will agree with me that when your monthly income increases to say N200,000 per month, you will be saving more and consuming less proportionally. So the issue of what proportion of an individual's monthly salary that is saved is relative since it is majorly a function of income and consumption behaviour viz-a-avis the environment.

RomanceHow Can I Get Her Off My Mind? by APRIDE(op): 12:18pm On Dec 20, 2011
I met this girl who was deeply in a relationship with somebody she claimed she did not love. We fell in love with each other, and each day that passed added to what we felt for each other. I thought i understood fully what it meant to love, but with her, i believed i was wrong for the thought of her alone is enough to make my day. The parents noticed she was seeing me and became mad with her to the extent that the whole thing came to the knowledge of her guy. Now she is emotionally torn apart just as i am, and decided that we go our separate ways after vowing to be with me for the rest of her life. I have been trying to to deal with the situation, but i love her so much and i believe she does too for she kept reiterating it when the candle was burning,  i need your advice.
