Celebrities / Boyfriend Proposes To Yoruba Actress, Tawa Ajisefini by aproko247: 12:18pm On Nov 30, 2018
One of the fastest rising actresses in the Yoruba movie industry, Tawa Ajisefini, is now off the single’s market.

This is because her lover has popped up the marriage proposal question of ‘Will you marry me’ and the movie producer has answered in the affirmative.

Information from her colleagues revealed that her boyfriend asked her hand in marriage at a location yesterday.

Tawa is said to be very excited about the development and now flaunts her engagement ring for all to see.

Some weeks ago, the actress flew to the United States of America for vacation, but she is expected to return to start doing what she knows how to do best, acting.

However, it is not yet certain when both lovers will walk to the altar to finalize their union in order to live together as husband and wife.

Crime / Court Jails Access Bank Staff For Using Customers’ N5.2m To Buy Shoes, Others by aproko247: 2:11pm On Oct 16, 2018
A support staff from Integrated Corporate Services attached to Access Bank Wuse 2, Abuja, has been sentenced to six years in prison on a 12-count charge bordering on diversion and misappropriation of depositors' money.

The convict, one Godfrey Ango, was convicted on Friday, October 12, 2018 by Justice J. Adepoju of the FCT High Court sitting in Abuja.

Arraigned in December 2015, Ango sometime in 2011, while being a bulk teller in Access Bank allegedly diverted over N5,224,500 of depositors' money to personal use.

It was reported that the victims - Hillside Schools and one other company, petitioned the bank and the case investigated internally by the bank before it was referred to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for further investigation and prosecution.

In his statement to the EFCC, Ango confessed to committing the crime and outlined how he spent part of the money to settle personal problems such as house rent, school fees, clothes, shoes and to obtain Ukrainian Students' Visa.

Counsel to EFCC, D.M Nkwa, urged the court to convict the defendant so that it can serve as deterrent to him and others.

In his judgment, Justice Adepoju found Ango guilty of all the 12 counts and sentenced him to 6 months imprisonment with option of N200,000 fine on each of the counts.

The court also ordered the convict to make a restitution of the diverted sum to the victims.

"I have considered the arguments of both parties, since the purpose of punishment is to prevent further offences and the convict has shown remorse for his actions, monetary conviction and payment of fine is necessary. It will also allow decongestion of prison", the judge said.

Business / How Govt Agents Caused US Firm To Cancel $1b Equity To Unity Bank Linked To IBB by aproko247: 10:19am On Mar 29, 2018
Threats from an unnamed official close to the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration has forced Milost Global Inc., a New York based private equity firm, to terminate $1 billion equity and debt deal designed to grant it 60 per cent stake in Unity Bank Plc, sources have told Pointblanknews.com

The Sources who do not want to be named because of the sensitive nature of the information told our reporter that officials of the Nigerian Government had viewed the $1billion equity to Unity Bank as funds that might be used challenge Buhari’s re-election bid ahead of the 2019 elections.

This newspaper gathered that Buhari is bent on contesting the 2019 Presidential election and is highly determined to block any source of financing for opposition.

Aminu Babangida, son of former military ruler, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida is the Chairman of the Board of Unity Bank.

The Former President had been very critical of the All Progressive Congress, APC Government and had asked Nigerians to vote out Buhari in 2019.

Business / Wema Bank In N5.2b Mess As EFCC Detains Officials by aproko247: 1:06pm On Sep 13, 2017
***We are innocent—Wema Bank

Staross Energy Limited and Wema Bank Plc have engaged each other on allegations and denial of dud cheques infraction involving about N5.2 billion transactions in crude oil sales.

The allegation of Staross Energy Limited was contained in its petitions sent to the Senate, Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). This was however denied by management of Wema Bank Plc in a response sent to this newspaper by the Manager, Brand & Marketing Communication, Mr Abiodun Aderibigbe.

The petition was initiated after presentation of two cheques issued to Staross Energy Limited by an alleged front of Wema Bank Plc- Lucky Ojenike of Lucky Best Nigeria Limited bounced at the banking hall.

This was after both parties had earlier allegedly agreed that if the buyer and the bank or any person(s) or company circumvented the company, the N346 million commitment deposit would be forfeited as penalty to the company and in addition, the money equivalent to any loss suffered by the company (Starross Energy Ltd) in the event of any false pretence or circumvention would be paid to the company as provided for under Articles 8.5, 8.6 and 8.7 of the Sales and Purchase Agreement dated Oct. 28, 2014.

However, Mr Aderibigbe said Wema Bank “is not and has never been involved in the business of buying and/or selling petroleum products,” but a financial institution licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to carry out the business of banking.

He stressed that the bank could not therefore have sought to obtain any petroleum cargo or property under any pretence (as alleged in the referenced report) for any purpose.

Aderibigbe also explained that the business for the sale and purchase of petroleum products alluded to in the petition and in the subsequent report was between Starross Energy and Lucky Best Nigeria Limited/Lucky Ojenike.

He stressed that the bank did not at any time execute any agreement in relation to the business with Starross Energy, neither did the bank ever represent to Starross Energy that it was in partnership with Lucky Best Nigeria Limited.

“Starross Energy alleged claim for the loss suffered in its business (whether real or imagined) against the Bank is therefore misdirected and very strange,” he stated.

He added that the dishonoured cheques issued to Starross Energy, as admitted by the company, belonged to and were issued by Mr Lucky Ojenike.

The cheques, according to him were not issued by the Bank, neither did the Bank inform Starross Energy at any time that Lucky Best Nigeria Limited/Lucky Ojenike accounts were sufficiently funded to satisfy the value of the cheque.

In fact, Lucky Best Nigeria Limited does not maintain any account with the bank. The bank’s relationship with Mr. Lucky Ojenike is not beyond that of a normal banker-customer relationship.

In a detailed investigation which resulted in the arrest of three officials of Wema Bank Plc, the bank was accused of using unethical and overly aggressive cross-selling tactics- pressuring customers to purchase additional financial products or services that they didn’t need – to meet sales goals.

Outraged by the alleged fraudulent practice of some officials of Wema Bank in a N5.2 billion crude oil deals, Starross Energy Limited asked the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to intervene and sanction the bank.

In a petition to the Apex Bank, the company also wants the CBN to compel the commercial bank to pay the outstanding money and sanction it for issuing dud cheques to the tune of N346 million.

Our correspondent obtained copies of the petition sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions of the Federation (DPP), Mr Muhammed Saidu Diri, and the Chairman, Senate Committee on Anti-Corruption and Financial Crimes, Sen. Utazi Chukwuka Godfrey, over the alleged fraud committed since October 2014.

The petitioners’ National Coordinator, Philip Odekeye, and Messers Wole Abdulkadir & Co., solicitors to Starross Energy Ltd, alleged that the anti-graft body has failed to arrest and prosecute issuers of the dud cheques totalling N346 million reported to it.

The letters were received and stamped also on Dec.14, 2016 at both offices at the Federal Ministry of Justice, while the Offices of Senate President and Senator Utazi received and stamped the letters on Dec. 9, 2016.

Contrary to Starross Energy’s claim, Mr Aderibigbe said the company was not at any time induced to attend the meeting held on October 28, 2014 at the Bank’s head office by any officer of the Bank.

“In fact, it was the Managing Director of Starross Energy (who had expressed the intention to open a corporate account with the Bank) that proposed meeting with one of our staff members at the head office, ostensibly to avoid the Apapa traffic. Our staff readily agreed to the meeting, hoping to receive instructions and documents to enable the accounts officer open a corporate account for Starross Energy.

Surprisingly, Mr. Lucky Ojenike showed up at the meeting. Mr. Lucky Ojenike’s attendance at the meeting was not at the instance of our staff but at the behest of Starross Energy.”

Subsequently, Aderibigbe said the Bank received a letter from solicitors to Starros Energy wherein the lawyer raised the same spurious allegations. In a bid to resolve the issues, he disclosed that the bank invited the lawyer and his clients for a meeting in a genuine attempt to address their complaints and alleged claims from the Bank’s stand-point. “ But to our surprise, neither the lawyer nor his clients showed up for the meeting,” he lamented.

He also disclosed that the management of Wema Bank also received a letter dated February 17, 2015 from the Legion of Aggrieved Nigerians Against Crime, alleging fraud and intimidation of Starross Energy. “In our reply, we clearly stated the bank’s position, averring also that there was no threat to Starross Energy or to any other person from any of the Bank’s officers, as alleged”.

Aderibigbe alleged that: ”In a further attempt to propagate falsehood against the Bank, Starros Energy again reported the alleged claims to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The EFCC in the course of their investigation arrested and detained two of our staff members for three days. Further to this, the EFCC wrote to the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) to confirm whether the alleged vessel (MT Cosmic Jewel) was in Nigerian waters with the alleged volume of crude oil during the period stated by the complainant. The report received by the EFCC from NIMASA was to the effect that no such ship or vessel was within Nigerian waters during the period, nor could such a vessel have carried the volume of crude oil alleged by the complainant.

“Based on their investigation, the EFCC released our officers with explanation. We request that you write to the EFCC to confirm the outcome of their investigation on the unfounded allegations made against the bank by Starros Energy. When the EFCC caught the petitioner in a web of his own lies, he refused to show up for a roundtable meeting at the EFCC office. His lawyers equally refused to show up.

The petitioners had stated that Staross Energy Limited legally registered under the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) for buying, selling, marketing and distributing all kinds of petroleum products, including crude oil, executed an agreement or MoU with its suppliers, who were the vessel handlers/managers of the crude oil tanker — MT Cosmic Jewel — and who were also marketing about 2,000,000 barrels of Bonny Light Crude Oil (BLCO) loaded in the vessel in October 2014 for NNPC/Joint Venture Operators, the owners of the crude.

They also stated that under the agreement or MoU, that the company as an affiliate or middleman was to bring “a ready, willing and able buyer’’ to buy the crude and that the difference between the price given in the MoU by the suppliers to the company and any price given by the company to any buyer brought to buy the crude was the consideration or profit for the service of the company in the transaction.

It was further agreed that any buyer brought shall pay the full cost of the cargo in dollars or naira equivalent to the nominated bank account of NNPC/Joint Venture Operators which in turn shall issue all the documents for the sale and transfer of ownership of the crude oil to such buyer after making full payment.

According to them, in October 2014 the company allegedly got a buyer who was acting as a frontman or agent for Wema Bank, the Chairman, the Managing Director and the Management of the bank showed great interest in the crude oil deal.

“Several meetings were held at the conference room at the Head Office of the bank with the company officials and the lawyers on Oct. 27 and 28, 2014 respectively where they assured the company that the bank was actually buying the crude oil using the frontman as the buyer to resell to their Foreign Off takers and make profit.

“In preparation for the meeting on Oct. 27, the company on the eve of the meeting, tracked the loaded vessel — MT Cosmic Jewel — on the internet and printed out the AIS colour photographs and live ship map showing that it was on the Nigerian waters at about 8.39 p.m. on Oct. 26.

“The company took the photographs and other documents to the meeting, but would not release them unless the bank’s buyer made a commitment deposit of $2,000,000.00 and they agreed and accepted to give the company two cheques totalling N346 million (the Naira equivalent of $2,000,000.00 at that time) after they must have tracked and confirmed the cargo and agreed that the cheques would be cashed immediately by the company.

“The bank initiated the preparation of the Sales and Purchase Agreement (SPA) of Oct. 28,2014 at the bank’s Head Office which reflected the two cheques totalling N346 million and asked the company to open a corporate account at the bank’s Head Office branch for instant transfer.

“On the strength of the repeated assurances given to the company by the bank and its buyer that the bank had paid sufficient funds into the buyer’s account to buy the crude oil, the company released the photographs of MT Cosmic Jewel map showing its location on Nigerian waters, Bills of Lading, Cargo Manifest, Certificate of Origin, CPA and other documents containing the telephone numbers, contact address and other vital information of the company’s suppliers to the bank and its buyer.

“After obtaining the cargo documents from the company, the bank and its buyer used the bank’s Head Office machines and computers to reproduce, scan and sent the documents by email to their Foreign Off Takers, and also used the Head Office’s internet facilities to track the cargo and confirmed that it was real.

It is no doubt that in the past, the request for sex for movie roles dominated the film industry in Nigeria fondly called Nollywood.

However, another dimension seems to have been crept into this, according to talented actress, Chidinma Nwadike.

The charming actress, in this encounter with the press, shared her experience and journey in the world of acting.

She narrated with a note of bitterness that she will not go nude even if she is paid a million Dollars for a movie role.

Her explanation is because she is “woman with pride” who has her “dignity to protect.”

She confirmed that all has not been rosy for her. “I have seen lots of things going on in the industry, how ‘I wanna be girls’ take it as fun by playing nude in movies,” he recalled.

“For how much?” she asked, lamenting that, “This is so bad that, the industry has crashed and needs to be cleaned by powerful men of God to restore the good atmosphere.”

The actress said a lot of things have “gone bad even marketers sleep and demand iPad, phones from actors and actresses before giving them role in their movies.”

Chidinma said some cast and crew got their jobs by buying one or two things for the executive producers, marketers, producers and directors.

“It is never by merit again. A lot of things have to stop before is too late,” she submitted.

Chidinma Nwadike was born on March 3, in Imo State, into the family of Mr and Mrs Emmanuel Nwadike.

Her parents hail from Ebenetor Ekewe in Isu Local Government Area of Imo State. She is the 2nd girl in a family of eight children.

Celebrities / How Toni Payne Once Used My Husband To Threaten Me—laila’s Blog Owner by aproko247: 4:41pm On Jan 03, 2017
Laila Ijeoma Obiagwu is the owner of Laila’s blog and enjoys a large followership online. She tells Ademola Olonilua of Punch how the blog was created and how she once had an issue with Toni Payne.

When was Laila’s blog created?
I actually started blogging in 2012. Lailasblog.com was birthed January 2013

What drew your attention to blogging?
I have always been a science student in school and I never knew anything about blogging in my life. When I finished school, I just wanted an outlet where I could share experiences with people and because of that, I started a Facebook page called, ‘True love for my man.’ That was the first social media account I used to gather people together and we spoke about love and heartbreak. The Facebook page grew because a lot of my friends joined.

I still wanted more, so I told a friend that I had the desire to run a television show and she told me to visit a radio station instead. I listened to her advice, visited a radio station and they gave me airtime to do a show about money because I also work in a bank.

I had to cancel the show because it was not easy running the show alongside being a mother, a wife and a banker. All this while, I was still holding on to the passion of growing a community of like minds.

One day, I stumbled on one of my colleagues’ blog at work and I asked him questions about how it works. He showed me how to run a blog and from there, I began to visit other blogs. I was so intrigued and I told my colleague that day in the office that I wanted to start my own blog. He helped me create the blog, I began blogging and ever since then, I have had so much fun. I did not start it because I needed money, I was gainfully employed. When I started and began to read people’s comments, I knew this is what I had been looking for all this while.

For those allergic to long posts, please read the concluding part here:

Celebrities / BREAKING: Top Actress, Tricia Eseigbe, Survives Boat Mishap In Delta by aproko247: 1:15pm On Nov 16, 2016
Report reaching us indicates that ace Nollywood actress and producer, Tricia Eseigbe, recently cheated death in Delta State.

Information scooped by us revealed that the boat conveying the actress and her crew during a film production in Delta State capsized in the middle of water.

Tricia Eseigbe, Aproko247 learnt, was shooting a documentary on a man of God, when suddenly their boat reportedly hit something and overturned.

Tricia, we learnt, was shooting a documentary on the General Overseer and Founder of Christ MercyLand Deliverance Ministry, Prophet Jeremiah Omoto Fufeyin.

Prophet Fufeyin recently healed star actor, Ernest Asuzu, from demonic attack and stroke, and also empowered him spiritually and financially afterwards.

It was gathered that immediately the incident happened, members of the crew starting saying different prayers and were thrown into confusion.

However, a source informed us that when one of them remembered the mantle given to them by Prophet Fufeyin before the shoot, and prayed with it, others followed suit. It was said that shortly after this, things took a sweet turn and none of them lost their lives in the ugly incident.

Celebrities / 2011 Star Quest Winner, Beauty Aghedo, Secretly Weds Manager by aproko247: 11:20am On Oct 25, 2016
Reports reaching Aproko247 confirm that fast-rising Nigerian singer, Beauty Aghedo, has secretly tied the knot with her long-time manager, Ekwuelechi Ebuka Peters.

Beauty Aghedo, popularly known as B'Dash, emerged winner of the 2011 edition of Star Quest music talent hunt show.

Her manager, who is a comedian with the stage name The Ambassador, travelled to the hometown of his wife in Edo State to seek her parents’ permission to marry her.

On Saturday, October 22, 2016, the traditional rites took place in Benin City, the Edo State capital, barely two days after the new Oba of Benin, Ewuare II, was installed.

Only few friends of the new couple were present at the ceremony and were joined by family members.

A source close to the couple informed Aproko247 that the lovers chose to make the marriage ceremony secret because they did not want it to become a public affair.

“Ebuka is Aghedo’s manager and they must have taken into consideration the several insinuations people might have concerning their relationship. I guess that was why they chose to make the ceremony a purely family affair,” the source told us.

Meanwhile, we have been reliably informed that the new husband and wife are presently in Enugu enjoying their honeymoon.

When asked the exact location of the honeymoon, our source declined to divulge this information, stressing that, “remember, they do not want public interference in their marriage. Please let them enjoy their honeymoon in peace.”

Ebuka Peters is the CEO of Ambassador Showbiz Plus. We could not also confirm how long they dated before tying the knot.

Religion / Crisis Rocks The Apostolic Church As Factions Battle For Power by aproko247: 12:09pm On Oct 23, 2016
Note: This is a very long interview granted a Pastor of the church. You might have to read the concluding part from the source because the interview is very long, but revealing and interesting. Happy reading.

All seems not well in The Apostolic Church, TAC, as different factions have emerged and accusing fingers being pointed at will.

One issue that is threatening to tear the church apart, we learnt, is tribalism.

In a recent interview, one of the pastors accused leadership of the church in Nigeria of fuelling the tribalism crisis.

Below is an account of the crisis as reported by The Mail:

The last is yet to be heard on the crisis rocking The Apostolic Church as the United States of America branch of the church has been submerged by the crisis which originated from Nigeria.

It is learnt that, presently, there are more than six factions of the church in America controlled by diverse factions of Pastors and members.

The two leading factions are that of the Yorubas headed Nigerian National President, Pastor Gabriel Olutola and that of the Akwa-Cross controlled by pastors from Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Rivers States and Abuja.

Report has it that Pastor Udoiyak, Pastor George, Pastor Afia and Pastor Isaiah, all from Akwa Ibom, are in support of Yoruba section of the church for fear of being victimised by the Yorubas in the Nigerian National Executive Council, having (allegedly) been given huge amount of money each time they travel with Olutola to United States to attend convention organized by the Yoruba section.

Speaking on the church crisis, the National Secretary of the church in North America, Pastor Kenneth Udo Ibok stated thus:

May we know you Sir?

My name is Apostle Kenneth Udo Ibok. I am the National Secretary of The Apostolic Church, North America. I hail from Eket Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. I came to United States in 1982. I am a lawyer by profession but before now, I was worked as a Journalist. I was called into the Lord’s vineyard in 1999 through the National President of The Apostolic Church in Canada, Pastor John Kristianson and was later confirmed a Pastor in 2002 by late Apostle U. T. Offong. I was ordained as an Apostle in 2012 by Abuja Field Superintendent, Late Apostle J. R. Akpan which after I was posted to serve in United States of America under Abuja Field. In 2013 we organised the Apostolic Church North America.

Can you tell us the history of The Apostolic Church in United States of America?

The Apostolic Church came to United States through members of the church from Nigeria who travelled down here individually and then decided to continue worshiping God as members of The Apostolic Church. They then started conducting church service in their homes with family members. Historically, in the early 1970s, The Apostolic Church USA was registered with Pastor Adeyinka and Pastor Akilowo who were all LAWNA pastors here in the US. That was when Late Pastor Jemigbon was LAWNA Territorial Chairman of The Apostolic Church in Nigeria. As at then, with their belief that United States of America was given to them to evangelize, anybody from another Nigerian Field or territory that attempted to establish The Apostolic Church in the US without passing through LAWNA was considered as a rival. That was why it took Akwa Ibom pastors until late 1990s to early 2000 to be able to establish The Apostolic Church in the US. However, the Adeyinka/Akilowo group broke out from LAWNA because they needed independence and had already started moves to get independence before the death of Pastor Jemigbon. When they broke away from LAWNA, they left with the registration of the church as The Apostolic Church USA. That was when the remaining LAWNA group controlled by the Nigerian leadership registered ‘The Apostolic Church USA Glorious Vision’. Later, Glorious Vision group thought of unifying with other sections like ours but with secret agenda of taking control of all the churches since their belief was that Yorubas owned The Apostolic Church in the US. To achieve their ill aim, they needed Akwa-Cross members with the intent of passing through them to get the support of the then National President, late Pastor E. E. Okon. As such, they gave the Akwa-Cross members the impression that the church would be one; with such impression, members of the church from Akwa Ibom and Cross River States joined them. Those from other Nigerian regions like the Igbos refused to join the Yorubas because maybe they had already foreseen the future of the unionism not working. Originally, individual members of the church used to gather either in their homes or shopping centres to conduct church services.

[Cut-in] …So presently, how many sections of The Apostolic Church are operating in United States of America?

As we are talking now, the sections of the church that are in operation include: The Apostolic Church USA, The Apostolic International, The Apostolic Church USA Glorious Vision, The Apostolic Church North America, The Apostolic Church North America-Texas as well as sections controlled by the Igbos. All these sections are control by different group of persons. For instance, The Apostolic Church USA is the majority group led by Pastor Adeyinka and Akilowo. They were the first set of LAWNA leaders that broke out from LAWNA leadership to be independent; 80% of them are Yorubas while the remaining 20% are Akwa Ibomites. The Apostolic Church International operates majorly in Washington DC and Maryland. Majority of members are Akwa Ibomites and Cross Riverians and also The Apostolic Church North America comprising members from Maritime Field, Akwa Ibom State Fields, Canada and United States, which is the group I belong. The Apostolic Church North America-Texas is the Yoruba group that broke away from us. It is being controlled by LAWNA territory in Nigeria headed by Pastor Olutola and that is the group Pastor Udoiyak, Pastor Isaiah, Pastor George, Pastor Afia and other Akwa Ibom Pastors in Nigeria associate with. I don’t think there is any Pastor from Cross River State that associates with them including those that reside in the US. The Apostolic Church International led by Akwa-Cross members broke away from The Apostolic Church USA because when late Apostle U. T. Offong came to United States and gave Akwa Ibom and Cross River indigenes the spiritual mandate to establish The Apostolic Church in the US, the leaders of The Apostolic Church USA led by the then late Jemigbon confronted the late Pastor Offong and asked him why he came to US to establish The Apostolic Church without their authority. That was why the Akwa-Cross members broke away from them.

How did The Apostolic Church Canada joined your group?

Initially, Pastor Udoiwud had lived in Canada when he was working there as Criminal psychologist. Before then, he had already met Pastor Kristianson who is now the National President of The Apostolic Church Canada in United Kingdom during a church conference. That was when his relationship with Pastor Kristianson started. So, when we registered the Church as The Apostolic Church North America, the church in Canada also joined us because Canada is also in North America.

Celebrities / Popular Nollywood Filmmaker Dies On His Birthday by aproko247: 10:47pm On Oct 22, 2016
Aproko247 has been informed that the Nigerian movie industry fondly called Nollywood has again been thrown into mourning.

It was whispered to us that a top filmmaker in the industry has breathed his last on Saturday, October 22, 2016, which coincidentally is his birthday.

As you read this piece, prolific movie producer in Nollywood, Prince Afam Chiazor, has been reported dead.

Afam, as he was fondly called in the industry, was the national president of Cinematographer Society of Nigeria, CSN.

His demise has been described as shocking by his colleagues.

National president of Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN, Ibinabo Fiberesima, while commenting on Afam’s death, described the deceased as humble.

“You were humility personified.......My heart bleeds...still in shock at the news of your death,” Ibinabo said.

One of Afam’s colleagues, Milla Ola, who is a cinematographer, said “Nollywood just lost another great filmmaker.”

“He was an epitome of humility! That's all I can say about this distinguished member of the Nollywood family who died on his birthday this morning. Good night and rest in peace,” Fidelis Duker wrote about him.

Celebrities / Tito Da Fire’s Marriage Crashes As Wife Relocates Child Abroad by aproko247: 4:23pm On Oct 13, 2016
There is nothing done in secrecy that will not at one time or the other see the light of day, such is the hush-hush wedding embarked upon by Tito Da Fire with his then heartthrob, Ify on November 2, 2013.

Little did he know that the marriage would only have a short life span, it lasted just a little over a year.

As you are reading this, the subtly publicized marriage of the On-Air-Personality who manages brands under G2M Creatives has crumbled irreconcilably and the wife has relocated abroad with the only child of the union, Ebuka.

In an exclusive telephone conversation with the multi-talented CEO of Grinding Records, Tito Da Fire took us through the journey of the recent development concerning his career and marriage.

According to him, marriage which ought to have a happy–ever after tale was filled with loads of issues.

The now estranged couple obviously never understudied themselves before saying ‘I Do’.

Hear him, “Initially I thought she was disposed to entertainment, however overtime I realized she was not, it is one of the major lessons I learnt from my failed marriage.

“For example I remember that I would record songs at home and she would not make a comment, till I told her hey, I'm going to stop doing this because it seems you don't like me doing this...And she said oh no, not that, and after then she would say, that song you were working on, the one that has Haruna Ishola's voice ( because I was working on a remake of his classics), it’s nice, but I packed it all up and won't talk about it after then because I felt she wasn't cool with me singing. Sadly, we separated about a year and a month after our marriage.”

He also said about his son, "I miss my son a great deal and would love to play the role of an active –on-hand father to my son Ebuka, watch him play and grow."

Meanwhile, after the collapse of his marriage, Tito Da Fire dusted his lyrics book; hit the studio to record a song, Imagination, where he featured the late music icon, OJB Jezreel.

Now, Tito Da Fire has shot the music video of the song as directed by Matt Max and it’s indeed one of the best things to come out of the entertainment scene this year.

The reason for his choice of Matt Max as director is not far-fetched, as he has this to say, “Imagination was one of two songs I recorded with my long-term friend and brother, the late Ojb Jezebel, and losing him just before releasing the audio was painful, and I wanted a director who could bring the energy alive. I spoke with a couple of directors and Matt Max's treatment deeply connected with the soul of Imagination. Once I explained those thoughts and ideas, he was totally in sync with it as he was able to see the broader picture, and the rest is now history as the video for Imagination will drop in November signalling the flagging off of a series of events to culminate in the actual release.”

The Accountant turned workaholic all round entertainment artiste would love to imbibe the practice of having a deserved rest after putting in long hours of work into his hobby cum work and want nothing more than to leave a lasting legacy for generations coming after him in terms with his passion of making an impact on the entertainment scene.

Celebrities / Why I Dumped Telecoms For Acting—genny Uzoma by aproko247: 12:58pm On Sep 26, 2016
One actress that has gradually found her way into the hearts of many ardent followers of the Nigerian film industry fondly called Nollywood is Genny Uzoma.

Since she joined the industry, it has been from success to another.

But not many of her fans know that this charming role-interpreter dumped her promising job at a telecoms firm for acting.

In a recent chat, the actress, who became a popular face after she emerged Best Of Nollywood Female Revelation of the Year, hinted that she felt unfulfilled and decided to go after what her heart truly desires, acting.

In her words, “I felt unfulfilled and unhappy especially at the end days at my white collar job but it wasn’t all in vain, I would say…I acquired some great skills in marketing and sales, also in customer service, both at the call centre and the office floor…I was actually really good at the job and emerged best customer service agent of the month for my team severally. I have the certificates to prove it… So I would say I have something to fall back on.”

Speaking on her fast growth in the industry, Genny said she didn’t get her parent’s approval when she decided to kick off a career in the world of movies at the age of 18.

She said: “Well, I joined the Actors Guild of Nigeria the Enugu chapter at the age of 18 whilst in the university. I had also been really good with the arts, literature and English and participated in plays like ‘The Incorruptible Judge’, ‘She stoops to conquer’ etc in secondary school.

“I saw acting as beautiful and fascinating and I wanted to join up, I remember I had to borrow money to register as I couldn’t tell my parents about it then and the guild wouldn’t let me audition without being a member. I was mighty excited about it, I couldn’t believe I was sharing the screen with my idols and role models, people I looked up to even if it was little roles I got then, we used to call it executive wakapass.”

Continuing, she said: “My parents didn’t approve of my acting when I started, they didn’t want me to spiral out of control but they’ve come around now, and mum keeps asking me of the movies I’ve done that she can watch now.”

Genny is one of the popular faces on the Iroko TV produced series, Husbands of Lagos, which also star Bobby Obodo, Bolanle Ninalowo, Kenneth Okolie and Desmond Elliot amongst others.

Celebrities / EXCLUSIVE: Kokoro Taofeeq Returns To Osupa With Band Members by aproko247: 5:52am On Sep 07, 2016
Aproko247 can authoritatively report that Kokoro Taofeeq and other band members, who left Saheed Osupa over a year ago, have now returned to him.

This magazine also reliably gathered that the band members would perform alongside their former boss in October 2016 at a show.

Over a year ago, Kokoro Taofeeq and about 25 others left Saheed Osupa over money-related issues. This caused controversies in the Fuji world and efforts to settle the matter between Osupa and his band members were unsuccessful.

This forced Osupa to employ a new set of band members, who have been playing for him at shows since then.

But information scooped by Aproko247 revealed that Osupa and his former band members have now settled their differences.

Confirming this news to Aproko247 was the management of Kokoro Taofeeq, Arems Entertainment, which said, “Yes, Kokoro Taofeeq is now in good terms with his boss, King (Dr) Saheed Osupa after the whole strike saga that lasted for over 365 days. It is all over now.

“We appreciate everyone and most especially the media who stood by us. May God continue to water your flowers day in day out.

“Insha Allah, Kokoro Taofeeq will resume back to work as usual alongside other band members on October 21, 2016 with a return show tagged ‘Kokoro back on stage’ and more details about the show will be available in due time.”

Politics / On Uduaghan’s Role As Special Guest At Editors’ Confab In Port Harcourt by aproko247: 12:26pm On Aug 06, 2016
Fred Ijeh

The publicity extended to All Nigeria Editors’ Conference (ANEC) in Port Harcourt regarding Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan’s participation may have just smoked him out of his hole. For anti-corruption crusaders, this is it.

This opportunity to arrest ex-governor Emmanuel Uduaghan over many allegations of looting the Delta State treasury should not escape the knowledge of the ICPC and EFCC. Indeed, the crime fighting agencies in Nigeria should not fail on this if really they are desirous of addressing corruption without bias.

It is huge irony that editors of newspapers invited someone they have written to tatters on his ill-gotten wealth and corruption antecedent to their major annual event to deliver a keynote address. If not for blatant desire for money and greed, why should any credible organisation invite someone like Gov Emma Uduaghan with gross accusations of stealing billions of Naira from Delta State to such an important event like All Nigeria Editors’ Conference (ANEC) in Port Harcourt?

This is why many people believe that journalists are highly insincere in the corruption fight and are allegedly involved in abetting corruption for self-interest.

Politics / Obiano Finally Begs Peter Obi (PHOTOS) by aproko247: 7:27pm On Aug 04, 2016
The feud between former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, and his successor, Willie Obiano, seems to have ended.

The misunderstanding between the two political heavyweights in the state was reportedly buried at a ceremony held recently in Onitsha.

Obiano was said to have urged Obi to forgive him for any wrong doings.

At the funeral mass of late former first African Principal of Christ the King College, (CKC) Onitsha, Rev. Fr. Nicholas Chukwuemeka Tagbo, Obiano was said to have turned to Obi to openly beg him.

“May I use this opportunity that Fr. Tagbo is here to ask my brother and friend, Chief Peter Obi if there is any wrong that I have done to you please forgive,” the governor reportedly said at the occasion.

Responding, Obi said he was no more at war with Obiano and promised to support his administration for the betterment of the state.

There is no doubt that divorce rate in Nigeria is becoming alarming to many people and the cause of this has been attributed to moral decadence in the country.

To many, civilisation has done the African culture more harm than good. They believe the Western world has corrupted children and youths through showbiz.

Talk about the razzmatazz industry in Nigeria, celebrities in the country now try to compete with their counterparts in the advance countries, especially in the USA.

Speaking about the rate of divorce in the country, former governor of Imo State, Ikedi Ohakim, said the South East zone of Nigeria has low rate of divorce.

He explained the reason for this.

Celebrities / Ani Iyoho Speaks: I’m Hale And Healthy (VIDEO) by aproko247: 1:49pm On Jul 31, 2016
Few days ago, the internet was set ablaze with the news of an actor in Nigeria named Ani Iyoho, who was allegedly burnt on a movie set while filming #Behind The Wheels.

On Saturday, July 30, 2016, the production crew of the film held a press conference in Lagos, where the actor was presented before the media, showing all was just a publicity stunt and that nothing drastic occurred on the set as they earlier made many Nigerians to believe.

Ani, who looked healthy at the briefing, has now addressed his fans on social media, apologising to them for the whole saga.

“To my friends, for most of you who have ever commented or sent a chat to me you know I do all I can to respond to them all. So it hurt me deeply to keep you in silence and in the dark during this period. I couldn't avoid it. The calls were maddening. Celebrities / Nigerians Blast Nollywood Actor Who Set Self Ablaze by aproko247: 4:56pm On Jul 29, 2016
Many Nigerians were first shocked when news hit the internet that fast-rising actor, Ani Iyoho, was burnt almost beyond recognition while playing a movie role that involved fire.

Initially, some thought it was purely a publicity stunt, but when pictures of the Akwa Ibom State born actor on his hospital bed were released, those who first doubted the story had a rethink.

For those who may not know, the actor was reportedly assured by the special effect lady on the set that all would be well. In fact, Iyoho trusted the lady, which Aproko247 confirmed via the actor’s Instagram post a day to the unfortunate incident.

Before the scene was shot, Aproko247 gathered that Iyoho was in high spirit, expecting all to go smoothly as planned, but that was later obviously not the case. He even informed his fans of his intention to do what has not been done in Nollywood.

Iyoho had only returned from a shoot in Ghana and headed straight to Lagos for the scene, which we learnt took place at Eleko.

“Wrapped up on #BlurredLines here in Accra, Ghana directed by Dickson Dzakpasu @dicksondzakpasu. I'm heading to Lagos, Nigeria tomorrow to finish the hottest scene on #behindthewheels Directed by Stanlee Ohikhuere @stanleeohikhuare

“I call this wrap scene the #hottest because we will be playing with #fire. I'm about to go down in history as probably the first Nigerian to be set on fire in a #nollywood #movie #production. I'm #excited about it. I hope it goes well. I have a lot of faith in the #sfxmakeup artist Dorothea Kwofie @dorothea_kwofie. She assures me I'll be alright and she's the best SFX artist I know in Africa so I believe her. Looking forward to this,” the actor posted a day to the unfortunate incident.

However, since the stunt went awful, Nigerians have lambasted the actor for putting his life at risk “unnecessarily.”

“Finally happened,.. God help you,” a follower of the actor posted on his (Iyoho) timeline.

Politics / Akpabio At War With In-laws Over Wife’s Strange Illness by aproko247: 1:35pm On Jul 27, 2016
Senator Godswill Akpabio at the moment may not be the happiest man in the world and the reason is not far-fetched.

Or how will you expect the former governor of Akwa-Ibom State to be happy when his darling wife, Ekaette Uloma, who has solidly stood behind him for many years, is battling with an ailment that has made her bedridden.

As you read this, the woman is in the hospital and her fate hanging. Her immediate family members do not what would become of her next.

In fact, her family are accusing the man with the uncommon transformation of using their sister for fetish purposes, but the stylish governor has refuted that. He has even told them he is more affected by his sweetheart’s ill health than her family members.

As reported by Global Concord, Ekaette is “brain dead.”

The paper claimed almost all of the woman’s vital organs have failed, a medical condition doctors classify as Uremia. It was said that the former First Lady is suffering from mental disorientation.

Global Concord reports that: “Eka Esit Mbom” or “Mother Theresa” as the former first lady was fondly called by her supporters and loyalists when her husband was Governor of the oil rich Niger Delta State has been critically ill for months before being in a state of coma two months ago.

Sources close to the family told our reporter that her health condition worsened suddenly as the EFCC and Code of Conduct Bureau started investigating billions of naira traced to her bank accounts as well as a multi-million Pope John Paul International Nursery School in Uyo which she owns but she was unable to explain to the anti-graft agency where and how she got the money to build the school. The probe allegedly triggered anxiety and apprehension which took its toll on her for months before her health condition nosedived.

Politics / I Never Pushed To Impeach Buhari—dino Melaye by aproko247: 1:07am On Jul 13, 2016
**Says he’s a responsible role model and lawmaker

Controversial Senator, Dino Melaye, has denied instigating impeachment moves against President Muhammadu Buhari.

The lawmaker from Kogi State, in a statement issued on Tuesday night described himself as a “responsible Nigerian, role model and a champion of anti-corruption and equity”, which he said his party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, “stands for.”

On Tuesday, it was reported that Melaye is pushing for the impeachment of the President, which resulted into a chaos on the floor of the Senate.

The Senator representing Kogi West in the National Assembly, however, did not comment on allegation that he threatened to beat up a colleague in the Senate, Remi Tinubu, who is the wife of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a respected APC chieftain.

Melaye, in the statement further urged “the general public to discountenance the libellous publication as I will continue to respect the history, culture and excellence of my Kogi West people on the floor of the Senate. “

He said, “It is pertinent to note that the incredulously machinated misinformation was orchestrated by forces bent on destabilizing the upper chambers of the Nigerian Parliament for selfish reasons.

“One of the mushroom and faceless online platform used to promote the ill-fated, calumnious write-up has been notorious for serving as the propagandist machinery of political commercialists who are pushing for the extension of their fiefdom to the National Assembly.

“While I remain unimpeachably committed to the leadership of the Senate, I believe the respected arm of government charged with the onerous responsibility of law making should be given the independence to conduct its business.

“It is untrue and malicious; the narrative of the attack dogs of demagogues who have decided to turn Nigeria upside down for failing to choose leaders for Senators.”

Politics / Court Grants Fani-kayode And Usman Bail by aproko247: 12:08pm On Jul 04, 2016
A Federal High Court in Lagos has granted a N250 million bail to former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, who is facing corruption tria Hassan.
The judge also granted bail in the same sum to Mr. Fani-Kayode’s co-defendants, Nenadi Usman, former Finance Minister; and Danjuma Yusuf.
Mr. Hassan also stated that each of the defendants must provide two sureties who own landed properties within the court’s jurisdiction, as well as deposit their travel passports with the court.
The sureties must have landed property within the jurisdiction of the court and deposit their Title Documents with the Chief Registrar of the court.
The Title Documents shall be verified by the EFCC within seven days. The sureties shall also file affidavit of means and deposit their International passport with the court.
He adjourned till October 19, 20, and 21, for trial.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had last Tuesday arraigned Mr. Fani-Kayode former Minister Nenadi Usman alongside Danjuma Yusuf and Jointrust Dimensions Nigeria Limited before Justice Hassan on a 17-count charge bordering on conspiracy, stealing, corruption and making cash payments exceeding the amount authorized by law.
The accused persons are accused of diverting about N4.9 billion belonging to the Federal Government of Nigeria for political and personal uses.
They pleaded not guilty to the charges.
But after they took their pleas, their counsel, Ferdinand Orbih, Ifedayo Adedipe and S. I. Ameh, moved the motion for bail, having filed separate applications in which they prayed the court to release their clients on bail.
But the prosecuting counsel, Rotimi Oyedepo, said he needed time to respond to the applications.
Justice Hassan consequently adjourned proceedings to July 1 for hearing of the bail applications.
At the resumed hearing Friday, lawyers to the defendants argued the applications.
Mr. Orbih prayed the court to admit the first accused person to bail based on self-recognition pending the hearing and determination of the charges preferred against her. He also prayed the court to grant her bail on very liberal terms.
Messrs. Adedipe, Ndukwe aligned themselves with Mr. Orbih.
The prosecution counsel, Nkereuwem Anana, opposed the applications.
However, he said where the court decides to exercise its discretion in favour of the defendants, it should impose conditions that would compel them to attend trial.
Justice Hassan consequently adjourned to today for ruling.
