Information reaching Aproko247 indicates that telecoms giant in Nigeria, MTN, has already concluded plans to chase some Nigerians on its payroll out of the company and cause them some untold hardships. Recall that not too long ago, while the xenophobic attack in South Africa was on, the company threatened that it would be forced to lay off about 6000 Nigerians on its payroll if plans by some Nigerian youths to attack its facilities in retaliation of the assaults of Nigerians in South Africa were carried out. Even though Nigerian youths did not eventually attack MTN’s facilities, the company seems to have decided to punish Nigerians for reasons best known to them. The latest information available to us shows that MTN has outsourced it call centres to a foreign company. The company took the job from a Nigerian organization called CNSSL and MacTay and signed a deal with ISON BPO Limited, an Indian/South African company. It was gathered that with this, the fate of about 4,500 workers employed by CNSSL and MacTay are on the fence. This is because the new company, as an insider told our reporter, will operate from outside the country. A concerned staff of MTN, who begged not to be named for fear of being victimized, narrated to us that, “The Company that has been contracted to take from the Nigerian company is ISON BPO. We now know who they are. They are an Indian/South African owned company. They ran a call center for Zain in Ibadan whereby members of staff were paid an average of N37,000. “They will operate from South Africa and India. Some calls will be routed to call centres outside Nigeria. Some calls will be routed to new centres they are now hurrying to set up in other countries. They will not engage any of us. They said our salaries and allowances are too high. We will all lose our jobs. “Meetings are being held on the termination of our appointments. MTN Nigeria management is ready to send us home as directed by the group. “Xenophobia action against Nigeria: call centre agents in MTN South Africa are excluded, because of their black empowerment. MTN Benin Republic was excluded because the government of the country threatened to withdraw the license of MTN Benin if the company takes such an action against its people. “If the government of Benin Republic can protect its citizens by stopping MTN, why can’t our government stops MTN from taking our jobs away for doing nothing wrong. “In case you don’t know, some of our colleagues have been sacked in the past few weeks for making innocent comments on xenophobia and now with this decision of MTN Nigeria, more than 4,500 staff will be out of job by July 2015. “This is exactly what MTN did to Visafone, which they recently acquired. They threw all the staff away.” MTN Nigeria has been accused in the past for treating Nigerians as slaves in their country. Meanwhile, efforts to get MTN Nigeria to react to this story were futile. Many residents and keen observers of happenings in Kwara State were not surprised when the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, arraigned the cousin of Bukola Saraki, Ope Saraki and the Kwara State Commissioner for Information, Prince Olatunji Oyeyemi Moronfoye, on Wednesday, May 13, 2015. In fact, the arrest of the alleged stooges of the state governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed, was long overdue due. The anti-money laundering agency dragged the duo to Justice A.O Faji of the Federal High Court in Ilorin, the state capital, over an alleged N371 million. read more here: http://www.aproko247.com/2015/05/15/how-gov-abdulfatah-sucked-kwara-treasury-dry-with-saraki/ |
One rumour spreading fast like harmattan fire is the alleged infidelity involving the Managing Director of Access Bank, Herbert Wigwe, and a member of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Eniola Ogunlade. As it is being spread by grapevines, the marriage of the top banker is even at stake because of the issue. Rumour-mongers also alleged that the issue is almost affecting his work as the MD of the financial institution. Some senior employees of Access Bank are allegedly getting worried that if Herbert does not put his house in order, things might get bad for the bank; this they fear might also affect Access Bank shareholders. It was reported that Herbert’s charming wife, Chioma, is bitter that her ‘so-called’ trusted husband could start having an affair with a girl that is old enough to be his daughter. To stay away from the troubles in his home front, Aproko247 learnt Herbert now goes on frequent ‘business trips’, however, not without his ‘lolly pop’. Those in the known claimed Enny, as the young lady is fondly called, has so much taken Herbert away from his family that he thinks about her almost every time. Giving insight on how they met, it was gathered that paths of Herbert and Enny crossed when the former was in Abuja. Since then, they have been an item. There love nest is said to be a ‘coded’ guest house on the Island and they reportedly often meet to do what adults do when alone. Meanwhile, when Aproko247 contacted a media representative of Access Bank, Biola Aloba, on the issue, he said there is no iota of truth in the story. http://www.aproko247.com/2015/05/15/crisis-looms-in-access-bank-over-md-herbert-wigwes-troubled-home/

Nigeria’s First Lady, Patience Jonathan, is back in the country after her trip to Congo for a launch of an NGO in Congo. She was invited to the country her Congolese counterpart alongside other African First Ladies. Mrs Jonathan had been absent from public functions since her husband, President Goodluck Jonathan lost his bid to get re-elected into office for a second term in the March 28, 2015 presidential poll. The Presidency, last week, released a statement to put a rest to controversies surrounding the First Lady’s whereabouts. But Aproko247 has authoritatively learnt that Mrs Jonathan is back in the country. **How He Uses Young Girls For Rituals **How Native Doctor Told Us To Lick Speaker’s M@nhood **Okorocha’s Involvement In Ogboni Fraternity Recently freed social crusader, Ikenna Samuelson Iwuoha, has vowed to expose some dirty things he knows about Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State. He also promised to reveal the bad deeds of some associates of the governor, who are on the corridors of power in the state. He made this known in an interview with Harold Express in Owerri, the state capital, after he was released from detention, where he spent almost a year. Iwuoha began his fight with the former governor of the state, Ikedim Ohakim, and went on to battle with his former boss, the Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, Benjamin Uwajumogu, who he served as his SA on Media. On April 27, 2015 a High Court in Owerri presided over by Justice Irene Duruoha Igwe quashed the case levelled against him. Iwuoha spoke on his experience in prison and revealed some dirty secrets. Excerpts. What actually happened The truth of the matter is that Uwajumogu, you know, I exposed him. That is just the simple truth. What has that exposure benefited the State or solved In the first place, the State Governor, Rochas Okorocha said that he was going to fight corruption. Even, he initiated the Imo Anthem, and in it, one of the stanzas says, ‘Corruption must stop’. So, at the office, I saw what was going on and I tried calling Uwajumogu to order. I told him, ‘look, you did not give me appointment as a politician. I accepted the appointment because I am a social crusader. So, there was no way I would be here and things will be going wrong and I will not talk’. Yes, in our office, we were like a family. Naturally, nobody should expect me to come out and start talking about what was happening, but within us, I made him to understand that people should be reasonable. I did not accuse him directly because accusing him directly while I was under his authority would be an act of insubordination. Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, has expressed the readiness of his administration to handover on May 29, 2015 to the governor-elect, Nyesom Wike. Amaechi, who dismissed rumours he would not be handing over the reign of governance on the date, wondered what he would be doing in office after May 29. The Rivers state Governor averred that the entire cabinet has made ready their notes preparatory to the terminal date of his regime. “We are ready for handover unlike the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, at the centre that is busy making new appointments and sacking people. They have refused to brief the Muhammadu Buhari Transition Team and the All Progressives Congress, APC, is not screaming blue murder. Rather, the APC at the centre is meeting and planning and preparing for government,” he said. Painting an ugly scenario in Rivers State, Amaechi stated that rather than support democracy, PDP has been busy doctoring election results and Voters’ Register. “Unfortunately in Rivers State, the PDP is busy doctoring election results, doctoring Voters’ Register to cover their stolen mandate, and crying wolf to cover their mischief.” The governor pointed out. Acting Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, has ordered the payment of salaries owed a female officer of the Force for two years. Arase gave the directive on Wednesday morning after listening to a live programme, where the affected officer called in to lay her complaints. A statement by the Force spokesman, Emmanuel Ojukwu, said on Wednesday that the police chief was moved by the plight of the police personnel, and invited the crew of the radio programme to his office in Abuja. Ojukwu disclosed after looking into the matter, Arase “directed the restoration of salaries due to F/No. 09527 W/Sgt Ajuma Ibrahim attached to Lagos State Command with immediate effect, including payment of all arrears.” The police officer had been sick for some time and she brought her issue to light speaking with ‘Brekete Family’ on Wednesday, appealing to the police boss to come to her aid. Ibrahim had explained that her name was removed from the Force’s payroll because she could not fill the required emolument forms and processing the same in compliance to extant regulations. Ojukwu also stated that Arase has “directed the transfer of the subject from Lagos State Police Command to Force Headquarters Abuja and directed the Force Medical Officer to ensure she gets urgent access to needed and required medical attention.” “The IGP again assured the Public that the Nigeria Police Force is responsive and responsible and that reported issues of neglect in personnel welfare as well as cases of injustice to members of the public would be promptly addressed,” the statement concluded. Outgoing President, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, has been accused of setting traps for the incoming government of Muhammadu Buhari by embarking on unnecessary last-minute appointments as well as the removal and immediate replacement of heads of strategic government parastatals. The allegation was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday in Port Harcourt by the Rivers State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC. “We are appalled and disappointed by this gale of appointments, sacks and replacements by a go-slow President who was hitherto known for his inability to remove erring public officers and to replace ministers and heads of government agencies, who either retired or resigned their appointments. “The last-minute rush by President Jonathan to remove and replace heads of strategic government departments and agencies is therefore nothing but an attempt to set traps for the incoming Buhari administration in the hope that reviewing these illegal actions would result in the loss of goodwill by the successor-administration,” Chairman of Rivers APC, Davies Ibiamu Ikanya, said in the statement. The party also said, “To us, this rash of sacks and appointments apart from unnecessarily over-heating the polity is also distracting the incoming administration. We wonder why all these late sackings and appointments at the twilight of this administration that has caused our nation a lot of hardship which will take the administration of General Buhari much time and efforts to mitigate.” Rivers APC advised the incoming administration “to reverse some of these vindictive sacks and unwarranted appointments aimed at planting mediocres that will undermine the lofty ideas of APC and present APC in bad light for the 2019 general elections. We should not accept this in the interest of both our great party and future of our dear nation.” The party counseled President Jonathan to focus on his handover notes and smooth transfer of power to the incoming administration and refrain from further acts of illegality. Rivers APC, in the statement, also commended the party’s national leadership for acting in a timely manner to stop the influx of PDP members into APC. “This principled stand by the APC national leadership will go a long way to strengthen our democracy as PDP members now have no other option than to remain in their party and form a strong opposition that will keep us on our toes. It will also go a long way to make our politicians to believe in their political parties and their ideologies instead of jumping ship at the earliest opportunity. “PDP has for the past 16 years ruined our nation. To allow such mischievous, greedy and unprincipled politicians to have any foothold in our great party will result in avoidable contamination. PDP members should, therefore, stay back in their party and allow us to see how quickly we can clear the mess they created in their 16 years in power,” the statement concluded. The ravaging scarcity of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, commonly known as petrol, may likely end today, Thursday, April 30, 2015, going by the Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. She said that the Federal Government will pay about N156 billion to the Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria, MOMAN, on Thursday in other to end the biting effect of the product’s scarcity on Nigerians. Queues returned to most filling stations in the country due to the refusal of the marketers to supply the product. Speaking at the World Customs Day event held in Abuja on Wednesday, Okonjo-Iweala said the present government was doing everything possible to pay the subsidy claims to the marketers. She said the N156 billion represents the remaining tranche of the N256.2 billion debt owed MOMAN. According to her, MOMAN was paid about N350 billion in December and that the N156 billion will be made on Thursday. “Let me tell you, on the issue with oil marketers, we have been really working with them. We have been dialoguing with them. We paid them N350 billion in December. We paid them N31 billion as foreign exchange differential and by tomorrow (today), we will be paying them the N100 billion which we will give them as IOUs as well as their interest rate differential of N56 billion,” the Minister said at the event. “I am about to sign to get that paid and I think Nigerians will agree that the government is making good effort to accommodate the oil marketers. They are also Nigerians and they also need to co-operate with us,” she added. http://www.aproko247.com/2015/04/30/fuel-scarcity-may-end-today-as-fg-pays-marketers-n156b/ |
If an employee of MTN Nigeria had known that a post by his friend he shared on Facebook would land him in a big mess, maybe he would have had a rethink. As you read this, one of the brilliant members staff of the telecoms giant, Emeka Eze (not real names), has been told to stay far away from work because of his ‘innocent’ post on the popular social media platform. You will recall that recently, South Africans descended on black foreigners in their country, accusing them of rendering them jobless. They resorted into attacking and killing foreigners of African origin. This resulted into Nigerians calling for a boycott of their companies in Nigeria, including MTN, MultiChoice, Shoprite, etc. Read more here http://www.aproko247.com/2015/04/29/mtn-fires-staff-over-facebook-post-on-xenophobia/ |
Nigeria’s president-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, has barred the African Independent Television, AIT, from covering his activities. Spokesman of the Buhari Campaign Organisation, Garba Shehu, cited issues related to ethics and standard as few of the reasons why Buhari does not want the popular media outfit around him. Garba also cited “family and security concerns” as part of the reasons. Prior to the March 28, 2015 presidential election, AIT aired some sponsored hate documentaries on Buhari, which was meant to pitch Nigerians against the former military dictator. Security operatives on Monday, acting on orders, prevented AIT from covering the visit of the Cuban and Switzerland ambassadors to Buhari at the Defence House, where he (Buhari) presently resides. “AIT has been asked to step aside based on security and family concerns. In addition, Buhari has decided that they will have to resolve some issues relating to issues of standard and ethics. “We will be talking with them to try and resolve the matter, but for now the station has been asked to stay aside because, like I said, there are some family and security concerns. They have been asked to step down their coverage until we resolve the matter with them on ethics and standards. “You can quote me that I said that we have asked them to step aside and that we are resolving the the issues of ethics and standards with them,” Garba said. There is a negative report presently trailing Nigeria’s Minister of Sports, Tammy Danagogo. The Rivers State-born politician with the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has been accused of duping billionaire businessman, Mike Adenuga according to OrijoReporter Here is the full report by the online tabloid: When the Super Eagles of Nigeria players protested and boycotted the next round games involving France, President Goodluck Jonathan approved the sum of $3.4million, which Dr Tammy Danagogo was to take to Brazil to let down frayed nerves of the players. While the President was giving out the instructions, Globacom chairman, Dr Mike Adenuga, on the spot dropped $200,000 (N39.8m), which made the full money $3.6million. The President was elated and thanked Adenuga for the gesture especially for always supporting sports in the country and especially the Super Eagles. After the World Cup money, a total sum of $8.4million was paid by FIFA to Nigeria, after deductions of expenses incurred by FIFA on the nation’s behalf. Sources told OrijoReporter that Dr. Tammy Danagogo had his eye on the money and fraudulently requested that the entire $3.6million be brought to him by cash for onward transmission to President Jonathan. His crazy request was opposed by NFF chief Accounting officer, Musa Amadu, who insisted on having a formal order from the NFF President, Amaju Pinnick. Barrister Chris Green, who is from the same state with Danagogo was equally against the minister’s request and threatened to drag everyone involved to the EFCC if the monies were moved in cash. After much ado, Amaju Pinnick was said to have handed over Adenuga’s money($200,000 about N39.8m) to Dr Danagogo. Trouble started in the Glass House over the money after a former FA boss (name withheld) called Chief Adenuga to thank him for the ‘loan’ which had been returned to him. It was said that Adenuga felt insulted because he was not given any money, and reported the matter to President Jonathan who summoned Danagogo and confronted him. As we speak now, the $200,000 had not been returned to the NFF while there is no administrative evidence to show that the money is with the minister. As it is, the minister may not return the money to the NFF while the NFF does not and cannot account for the money in question. However, the bottom-line is the money Chief Adenuga ‘borrowed’ the Super Eagles has been returned, but it did not get to him, and had left the NFF. It was further gathered that when Amaju met the sports minister to discuss the money in order for the association’s account to be in good stead, he was told by Danagogo that Adenuga had given him the money as gift. National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Adamu Mu’azu, has vowed that the All Progressives Congress, APC, would be given a run for its money as it eventually takes control of government at the centre from May 29, 2015. Mu’azu made this known on Thursday night while answering questions from newsmen in Umuahia, Abia State, after he visited the state governor, Theodore Orji. The PDP National Chairman said the APC will soon see his other side, dismissing beliefs that he is just a toothless lion. He said the opposition party, which will soon become the ruling party, will realise that he is an attack dog. “By the special grace of God, we will give them a run for their money; that I can assure you under my leadership despite that I am accused of not being an attack dog. They will understand it later. I will wait until such a time when God gives me the opportunity; then they will know whether or not I am an attack dog,” Mu’azu declared. The party boss said the PDP is getting itself prepared to form a strong opposition against the APC in the next four years, adding that a committee has been put in place to study the individual and collective mistakes of members and the party respectively. Mu’azu said the recommendations of the committee would then be passed for implementation to ensure the PDP’s success in the subsequent polls. He further said, “I have taken full and total responsibility for whatever has happened to the party now.” http://www.aproko247.com/2015/04/24/2015-polls-i-take-responsibility-for-pdp-failure-muazu/ |

Telecoms giant in Nigeria, MTN, has warned that any attempts by Nigerians to attack its facilities in the country in retaliation to the xenophobia attack on Nigerians and other foreigners living in South Africa may spell doom. The company said if the threats by some Nigerian youths are carried out, it will have no other option than to leave, which will affect about 6,000 Nigerians on its payroll. In a statement issued by MTN recently, the organisation also frowned at calls to boycott its services, describing such as “unjustified”, adding that carrying out such threats will make about 500,000 Nigerians lose their incomes. For few days now, the social media has been bubbling with news of the three children allegedly kidnapped by a maid reportedly contracted by a Lagos-based mother of four on a popular free advertising platform called OLX Nigeria. It was said that the woman had left her children with the said maid just a day after she employed the lady she only met on OLX Nigeria. Not too long ago, there were reports that the maid and her cohorts had contacted family of the missing children, demanding a ransom of N15 million to secure the release of the kids. However, OLX Nigeria, when contacted by Aproko247 to react to the issue, since the alleged kidnapper was contracted on their platform, which some people have alleged to be a notorious breeding grounds for fraudsters, disclosed to us that they feel the pain the family of the missing children might be going through at the moment. “Our sympathies go out to the victim and their family,” Lola Masha, OLX Nigeria Country Manager said in a signed statement issued on Saturday and made available to Aproko247. OLX Nigeria described the incident as “unfortunate” and added that, “OLX is an online classifieds site that brings buyers and sellers together to promote trade.” “We take steps to moderate and review all ads but we do not participate in the negotiations between buyers and sellers. Transactions are performed directly between both parties. In all our marketing campaign, we continuously urge our users to take necessary precautionary checks when using OLX,” the statement explained. “We continue to innovate and improve our review process with tighter measures that would help to minimize future occurrence of negative incidents,” said Masha. The company urged users of their platform “to help us kick out bad players and ask them to report any dubious activity or user on the site for immediate action. Our customer support team can be reached at 0700-CALL-OLX (0700-22-55-659) or at support-ng@olx.com.” Concluding, OLX Nigeria expressed optimism that “the three kids are returned safely to their loved ones. *Product May Be Scrapped, MD’s Son Accused Incompetence When Fidson HealthCare Plc, one of the leading pharmaceutical companies in Nigeria, launched its brand of bitters in the market, many had thought that the product would quickly take over the market from other brands of bitters already enjoying high patronage from consumers. The high expectations on the product was because of the track records of Fidson, which is known for quality and is respected for it. But unfortunately, this was never the case. Maybe if the management of the company had known that its Fidson Bitters would perform woefully in the market, they would have had a second thought before introducing the product to consumers. Brands of bitters are liquid products consumed by Nigerians because of their medicinal value. They are herbal mixtures sold to treat some illnesses of the body. Most bitters are consumed by men, who believe they help clear the body of unwanted body materials and also improve their sexual performances. Few of the leading bitters in the market today include Yoyo Bitters, Ashetu Bitters from Ghana and others, which work effectively and are rushed by Nigerians in the market. But Aproko247 has observed that since Fidson Bitters hit the market, it has done poorly in the market and even other competitors don’t see Fidson Bitters as a threat to them anymore. “I tried the product (Fidson Bitters) once and when I noticed that it is not as good as my Yoyo Bitters, I threw it away before it causes another problem to my body system,” one consumer told Aproko247. “Fidson Bitters is not doing well in the market at all, people don’t buy it, but prefer other products. They complained that it is not as effective as others. But this is unlike Fidson, which is known for quality. I regret buying the product,” one of the sellers of range of bitters drinks in Lagos told our reporter. “Another seller told us that, “Maybe Fidson rushed to introduce their own brand of bitters into the market without proper planning and studying of the market.” However, according to a report by Yemojanewsng.com, the reason for the poor performance of Fidson Bitters in the market was attributed to the son of the company’s Managing Director, Fidelis Ayebae, Oshoke. A source in the company was quoted by the news journal to have revealed that, “Oshoke believes because his father owns the company, he can do whatever he likes. He doesn’t know the job and will not engage professionals to help out in pushing the products in the market. “Many professional agencies have come to meet him over the product, but he kept sending them away. What he does is to employ sales girls himself and send them into the market. “Those one always come back without selling a single bottle of Fidson Bitters. Until the guy allows professionals push the product, I don’t see the bitters going anywhere.” Meanwhile, it was reported that the management of the company are considering scrapping Fidson Bitters because of its massive failure in the market. Efforts made by Aproko247 to get to speak with the company’s representatives were futile. Source: http://www.aproko247.com/2015/04/09/consumers-complain-bitterly-of-fidson-bitters-poor-performance/ |
As you read this, several customers of Skye Bank are in fear and have already started withdrawing their hard-earned money in care of the bank. For some others, they have begun closing their accounts with Skye Bank because of fear of the unknown. The reason for this, as Aproko247 learnt, is not far-fetched. According to some of them who spoke with our correspondent, the public support the Chairman of Skye Bank, Tunde Ayeni, gave President Goodluck Jonathan is the main reason for their decision. They fear that since the President lost his bid to get re-elected on Saturday, March 28, 2015, the bank may be doomed. It would be recalled that in December 2014, Ayeni publicly donated the sum of N2 billion for Jonathan at a dinner held in Abuja to raise fund for his re-election campaign. This was kicked against by some shareholders of the financial institution, who frowned at the action of the bank’s Chairman. When Aproko247 asked some of the customers, who have started closing their accounts with the bank, the reason for their actions, they were unanimous in their responses. Most of them feared that the incoming government may mark the bank for victimisation and before something happens to their sweat, it would be safe for them to quickly move their money to other reliable banks that will protect their money. As at press time, no official of the bank could be reached for comment as the phone number of Head, Corporate Communications, Skye Bank, Rasheed Bolarinwa, was not reachable. If information about Skye Bank Plc reaching Aproko247 is anything to take serious, then the fire on the mountain, which is presently giving shareholders and depositors of the bank sleepless nights, may spell doom. In fact, as it is being discussed in hush tones within the financial instituion, if nothing serious is promptly done to save situation of things at hand, Skye Bank might eventually join the league of Savana Bank. Recall that in December 2014, the Managing Director of Skye Bank, Tunde Ayeni, donated the sum of N2 billion to the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan. He made the donation at a dinner organised in Abuja to raise money for Jonathan's re-election campaign. For those who still remember the issue vividly, shortly after he took that action, he was highly criticised by the bank's shareholders, who felt it was wrong for Ayeni to publicly align Skye Bank with a political party. Some of his critics claimed Skye Bank may suffer if President Goodluck is defeated at the poll. As if those who were against Ayeni's action had already seen what would happen at the poll, President Jonathan lost his re-election bid to the opposition, Muhammadu Buhari, candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, at the March 28, 2015 presidential election. This has now raised more uncertainty in the bank. A source within Skye Bank informed theoctopusnews.com that most of the bank's shareholders and depositors do not know what will become of the financial institution in tthe next administration. One of their fears is also on the safety of their investments with the bank, even when the flamboyant lifestyle of Ayeni is nothing to write home about. Ayeni has been accused by some people of dipping his wide hands into the bank's purse, a claim Aproko247 has not independently confirmed. Whether Skye Bank will be in the good books of Buhari's regime and some states that will be controlled by the APC is another thing some of the shareholders are not sure of. What would make a respected man in the society stoop so low to the extent of taking the friend of his young daughter to bed to play the all-important bedmaniac match? This question is what the wife and children of the Managing Director of CardExpo, Adeyemi Adeyinka, are still trying to find an answer to. As you read this piece, the once peaceful home of Adeyinka is boiling and his wife and children are ready to disgrace the head of their family since he cannot control his 'active' third leg, which has an invisible eye that cannot take its eyes away from anything in skirt. According to a report by Naijahottestgist, Adeyinka, after meeting a friend of his daughter, Kenny, named Biodun Bakare during one of her visits to their home in Lekki, started a secret affair with the Babcock University pretty graduate, a school Adeyinka children also went to. It was reported that since the illicit affair with Biodun started, the lovebirds have almost turned Adeyinka's slaughter slab at Eko Hotel in Lagos as their second home. Also, the CardExpo boss has been an ATM to Biodun, getting various gifts from the father of her friend, including vacations in choice locations abroad. In fact, as it was reported, Adeyinka has allegedly practically abandoned his family and has shifted his attention on his new found love. In the society today, many people are battling with obesity, which mostly starts from adding more weights to their initial body structures. There have been calls from medical experts and nutritionists for people to watch what they consume. Gone are the days when those on the big side were seen as comfortable or wealthy people. Nowadays, both sexes want to keep their body in shape as much as possible by engaging in exercises and cutting down on their intake of fat or fatty foods. According to reports, some experts have estimated that about 10% to 25% of teenagers and 20% to 50% of adults have weight problem. Even in North America, where there are increasing focus over the past few decades on weight loss, exercise and reduced fat intake, the problem is on the increase. For those who may not know, obesity is characterized by the accumulation of fat tissue. Some health practitioners define obesity by the amount of fat content of the body. Obesity is usually defined as a body fat content greater than 25% of the total weight for males, or greater than 30% of the total weight for females. The recommended body fat content for men is 15% to 18%; for women, it's 20% to 25%. These percentages vary with age, increasing as one gets older. A recent study of 12 secondary schools in Ondo State, Nigeria on obesity published by the African Journal of Biomedical Research revealed that 332 (16.3%) were underweight, 117 (5.8%) were overweight, 23 (1.1%) were obese and 1559 (76.8%) were in the normal range. Underweight was 224 (16.47%) in the urban and 108 (16.09%) in the rural. Overweight was 64 (4.70%) in the urban and 53 (7.90%) in the rural while obesity was 0.96% in the urban and 1.49% in the rural areas. The data were analysed using descriptive and inferential statistical data analysis at p=0.05. A total of 2031 (1126 males and 905 females), students participated in the study and BMI/A was used to carry out the study. However, when Genevieve Nnaji, a top actress in Nigeria, was announced as the brand ambassador of Amstel Malta, a malt drink that prides itself as the low sugar malt drink with no alcohol, it was in the news and many fans of the superstar rejoiced with her. In fact, from what we gathered, some die-hard fans of Genevieve, who used to consume other brands of malt drinks in Nigeria, quickly switched allegiance to Amstel Malta. But at the recently concluded Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMCVA), Genevieve dropped a bombshell and told the audience to consume Amstel Malta for them to get fat, thereby causing more problems for the society and the government. The actress was to present the award of the Best Actor of the year, which was eventually won by OC Ukeje. Speaking before the presentation, Genevieve advised that Amstel Malta should be taken and then said, “get fat”, but this got to the audience as a surprise. What many observers still cannot understand is if Amstel Malta is a drink that actually contains elements that can cause obesity, which has become a global issue. Efforts made by us to speak with representatives of Nigerian Breweries Plc, which produces the drink under the license of Amstel Brouwerij B.V in the Netherlands, proved abortive. Prior to the June 12, 1993 election presumably won by Chief MKO Abiola, nobody knew who the National Co-ordinator of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), Otunba Gani Adams was. Infact, OPC was formed as a consequence of the perceived injustice meted to the Yorubas after the annulment of the June 12, 1993 election by former Nigerian president, Gen. Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (Rtd.). OPC was reportedly founded by the likes of Dr. Frederick Fasehun, who instantly became the National President of the fundamentalist group until relatively unknown Gani Adams capitalized on the detention of Fasheun in the early years of former president Olusegun Obasanjo to take over the activities of the self-determination group. Since then, Gani Adams, who was trained as a carpenter in Mushin neighborhood in Lagos, assumed the leadership of OPC, and after some kind of reconciliation, he was named the National Co-Ordinator of the group, while Fasheun became the National President. That was how the then young Gani became a star and was celebrated as the leader of a Yoruba fundamentalist group as OPC was divided into two factions with one under Dr. Fasheun and the other under Otunba Gani Adams. This continued until news filtered to town that Gani Adams has started going beyond his bounds and that he has received contracts worth millions of naira from President Goodluck Jonathan to provide foot soldiers amongst his boys to serve as guards for NNPC pipelines in the South West. The news got to many people as a rude shock as they wondered if that was what OPC was created for. The last straw that broke the camel’s back occurred on Monday 16th March, 2015, when Otunba Gani Adams, under the auspices of Coalition of Concerned Nigeria, led hundreds of OPC boys to protest against the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Attahiru Jega against the expectations of many Nigerians. Aproko247 has learnt that a Nigerian actor, Solomon Akiyesi, was recently blessed with car and cash gifts by a popular Abuja-based man of God, Bro Joshua Iginla, whose ministry has been expanding to other African countries lately. We gathered that Akiyesi got a brand new Toyota Sequoia SUV and a cash gift of N550,000 from Iginla, who predicted the emergence of Edgar Lungu as President of Zambia. The controversial actor had worshipped at the Champions Royal Assembly Church in Kubwa, Abuja on Sunday, March 22, 2015, and while ministering, Iginla sighted him and said he saw that the role-interpreter was famous but lacked the substance to back it up. The man of God then ordered his aides to give to the actor one of his new automobiles in the garage. Iginla initially added the sum of N300,000 to the car gift, but two of his church members topped it with N250,000. “There are people who are laughing at you. They look at you and say you are not supposed to be where you are. You have met with opportunities and lost them. Today is your day. God has spoken and I’m going to pray for you. “There is an ancestral power from your father’s house fighting you. You would have died but it was a narrow escape that God used to preserve your life. The kind of glory, star and destiny God has given you are what the enemies are fighting with. “This is fame but the substance to back it up has been taken away. Those people you are better than, it is now like you are running towards them. You are going to laugh at those mocking you. Do you know that God remembers his children? “He has remembered you. Look at what happens to you, many a time; you sit down out of depression and think about the height where you are. You are trying to take yourself back but it hasn’t been easy. Do you know what God said I should tell you? You will rise again! “Can I talk to you Sir? Look at me, have I ever talked to you before? Can I ask you few questions? Where is your car? {Solomon replied, ‘the only one I have has been sold’}. Do you know why I asked you? I see you trekking which is why people are laughing at you,” Iginla said during the church service on Sunday. The excited actor was dumbfounded and shed tears of joy. Ahead of the forthcoming general elections in Nigeria, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Suleiman Abba, has ordered his men to ensure water-tight security in key locations across the country. The police boss gave the directive on Thursday in a statement issued in Abuja by the Force spokesman, Emmanuel Ojukwu. This is to ensure a smooth election in the country on March 28 and April 11, 2015, when the polls are scheduled to hold nationwide for the presidential, National Assembly, governorship and state Houses of Assembly elections. Police officers were mandated to provide adequate security at key and vulnerable points like “Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps, Media Houses, Service Providers Installations, INEC Headquarters and Centres, Banks, Hospitals, NYSC lodges, Hotels, Government offices among others.” “This becomes imperative in a bid to ward off any likely or possible attempt by hoodlums or men of under-world to attack these installations and public places,” the statement by the police spokesman explained. Meanwhile, Abba urged “members of the public to remain steadfast in collaborating with officers and men of the Nigeria Police to stamp out crimes, as the Police have perfected strategies to prepare a safe and secured ground to guarantee a hitch-free March 28 and April 11, 2015 general elections.” http://www.aproko247.com/2015/03/19/2015-ig-orders-security-beef-up-nationwide/ |
