CelebritiesJoshua Iginla Lavishes Veteran Actor, Bruno Iwuoha With Car by aproko247(op): 1:00pm On Sep 07, 2015
Well-known man of God and philanthropist, Bro Joshua Iginla, has again done what he loves to do, giving.

The prophet has given a brand new 2014 Toyota Sienna to veteran actor, Bruno Iwuoha, who recently underwent a successful surgery abroad.

Aproko247 was informed that the car was presented to the actor by the leading Abuja-based prophet on Sunday, September 6, 2015, at his church, Champions Royal Assembly, Kubwa.

Iwuoha was reportedly at the church on Sunday and was speechless and surprised when the exotic vehicle was handed over to him by the man of God.

It would be recalled that Iwuoha is not the first entertainer to have received such gift from Iginla. Months ago, the reputable man of God gave out several cars to celebs and some less-privileged too.

PoliticsCorruption Growing Under APC Government—pdp by aproko247(op): 9:16pm On Sep 03, 2015
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has charged “President Muhammadu Buhari-led APC administration to show integrity and commitment in the fight against corruption.” The party alleged that there are “numerous sleazes” going on presently under his watch.

PDP, in a statement issued on Thursday by its spokesman, Olisah Metuh, further charged the President to first cleanse his house of corruption. The party said “there is incontrovertible evidence that grave corrupt practices are ongoing and allowed to fester by associates and cronies of government, including former and present APC governors and others who played major roles in financing his campaigns with stolen state funds.

PDP said “the onus lies on the APC-led Federal Government to wage a credible holistic anti-corruption war by first purging itself of unclean association and coming out clear on sleazes already going on in government quarters since it took office in May.”

“Charity, they say begins at home. For the APC-led Government, it has now become a question of ‘physician, heal thyself’.

“Every discerning mind knows that this administration is not executing a credible holistic war against corruption because it is a product of corruption, surrounded by corrupt persons; a factor apparently responsible for its obvious blind eyes to huge sleazes now being perpetrated in government agencies by persons claiming closeness to the President.”

The opposition party claimed that, “It is indeed alarming that in so short a time, an administration that rode to power on claims of anti-corruption credentials, has broken the records in constitutional violations and abuse of regulations, especially in its adamant stance to run a government without the statutory components of a full cabinet, thereby creating loopholes for APC interests to invade key government agencies for inflated concessions, allocations, jobs and other financial sleazes.”

“Furthermore, we wish to draw the attention of all Nigerians to the fact that this administration, for obvious reasons, has deliberately turned a blind eye to the corrupt acts of most APC leaders, who as governors, ministers and labour leaders have been the worst corrupt set of people ever to bestride the political landscape of the country,” it said.

PDP asked, “How can the Federal Government explain its continued silence to the current indignation in one of the prominent south west APC state over corruption issues, including but not limited to alleged mismanagement of N32 billion SURE-P fund; N78 million state money allegedly spent on the personal website of a former APC governor, who is also accused of inflating a N2.1 billion contract for the construction of pedestrian bridges, N25 billion for 1.36 kilometre link bridge, US$200 million World Bank education fund while leaving behind N500 billion debt arising from alleged reckless spending?

PoliticsArase Bans Use Of Commercial Buses For Police Patrol by aproko247(op): 11:43am On Sep 03, 2015
The Inspector General of Police, Mr Solomon Arase, has directed all police commands and formations to stop the use of commercial vehicles for operations and patrol duties.

This is contained in a statement issued by the Force’s Public Relations Officer, Olabisi Kolawole, acting Assistant Commissioner of Police, in Abuja on Thursday.

The statement said that the directive had been circulated to all police formations and commands across the country.

It explained that the IGP’s decision was not unconnected with regular complaints by members of the public.

It added that there were enormous negative consequences associated with such practices by the police.

The statement warned that abuse of the directive by any police unit would attract severe sanctions.

PoliticsAppoint Commissioners Now—rivers APC Tells Wike by aproko247(op):
The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has expressed frustration over the delay in the appointment of Commissioners in the state by the state governor, Nyesom Wike.

Rivers APC, in a statement, condemned the “so-called 100 days celebration” by Wike, asking, “when will the governor properly constitute the state cabinet by appointing Commissioners?”

In the statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Chris Finebone, the party said, “As someone who is focussed and with a clear plan for governance, President Muhammadu Buhari shortly after being sworn-in as President announced that he would appoint Ministers in September.

“Despite the curiosity expressed by some Nigerians and following recent appointments by Mr President, it has become clear to many that President Buhari has clear strategic and tactical plans of what he is set out to do as the President of Nigeria.”

The party further said the above cannot be said of Wike.

According to the statement, “What many may not know is that the governor is carefully executing his grand scam, laced with superficial quick-wins meant to deceive the gullible and wow the not-so-informed of our people.

“As a sign that the governor was not ready to deliver good governance to the people, he constituted a committee to write a blueprint for his government weeks after having been sworn in to office.

“Again, 100 days after being sworn in to office, Governor Nyesom Wike is unable to name a single project or programme his government will undertake for the people.

“While there is nothing wrong in completing projects commenced by his predecessor, he has refused to do the simplest thing: acknowledge and give credit to the initiator of the projects he is now completing and claiming as his achievements in 100 days. This is indeed true to his character of betrayal.”

Rivers APC added that, “On the surface, it appears no one can blame the hapless tenant on Nsukka Street, Diobu or somewhere in Borikiri whose street is being covered with asphalt from singing Hallelujah for Governor Wike.

“Yes, it appears that you cannot so much fault the dweller of Old GRA who sees men working to cover up potholes around Forces Avenue for clapping for Nyesom Wike.

“But in all, is the Governor telling anyone what the costs of these projects are? Does he have any explanation that some of these projects were awarded to him in the past and he abandoned them after collecting huge sums?

PoliticsPDP, Not Me Behind Fashola’s Mess—tinubu by aproko247(op): 10:55am On Aug 27, 2015
Former governor of Lagos State and National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has played down speculations that the household of the ruling party in Lagos State is in shambles.

This follows the alleged division between loyalists of the immediate past governor of the state, Babatunde Fashola and the incumbent governor, Akinwunmi Ambode. Followers of Fashola are accusing Ambode of witch-hunting his predecessor. He was also accused of carrying out the orders of his alleged god-father, Tinubu.

The APC chieftain, in a statement, dissociated himself from the allegations, saying he has no hands in it. He accused the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, of trying to plant discord in the APC because of its loss at the polls in the 2015 general elections.

“I want to declare clearly and categorically that these rancid attacks do not come from me nor do I endorse them. Neither my hand nor my heart is in these mean submissions. I deplore them.

“An attack against the performance of Governor Fashola is indirectly an attack against me and the edifice of achievement we have constructed in leading Lagos state out of a protracted time of stagnation and into an era of sustained progress and development,” he said.

He boasted that, “I am proud to say that I played an instrumental role in bringing Governor Fashola into politics in the first instance. He served as my trusted chief of staff, performing excellently in that role.

“Due to his leadership qualities and diligent work ethic, I endorsed him for governor notwithstanding the stiff and vocal opposition of many. I am not ashamed of backing him. I believe the progress the state made under his administration has more than vindicated my endorsement.”

He added that, “Fashola, the present Governor Akin Ambode including myself are the products of a progressive political institution and its programmatic expressions. I laid the governance foundation and started the first lap, running as well as I could.

“I handed the baton to Fashola, knowing he would do the same. He did; he ran as well as he could. Now, he has handed to Ambode who is off and running as well as he can. We have achieved much in Lagos; but, we recognize as much as anyone that we have much more to do.”

PoliticsWhy I’m Scared Of Wike’s Probe—amaechi by aproko247(op): 7:48pm On Aug 23, 2015
Former governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi, has explained why he is run helter skelter to stop his successor from looking into activities of his administration.

Amaechi, in a statement issued on Sunday by his media team, disclosed that he is not sure of getting a fair hearing at the Judicial Commission of inquiry set up Governor Nyesom Wike. He insinuated that Wike is only set to get back at him.

“The commission will not be fair to Amaechi because it was set up to indict him,” the statement stressed.

“Wike had repeatedly held that Amaechi, the person to be investigated, acted illegally in the disbursement of public funds and that Amaechi ran a corrupt government. Clearly, Wike has prejudged the matter and showed his bias that Amaechi is guilty even before investigations,” the statement added.

It was pointed out that Wike “has taken a position of a guilty verdict even before the outcome is known or established” and would not trust the outcome of the Commission.

The statement further pointed out that, “In one of the defective terms of reference, Wike said the Commission should investigate the circumstances that led to the ‘sale of the state Hotel Olympia’.

“With a fair and decent probe, the Inquiry should have been ‘to examine (or investigate) the transaction concerning Hotel Olympia’. The difference is so clear:

“In the former, jaundiced Wike’s Term of Reference, it has been prejudiced and concluded that the Hotel was sold, while in the latter, the Inquiry is open and fair, and may lead to a finding of a sale or a lease or even a gift or even a pledge.

“Now, having so concluded that Hotel Olympia was sold, would Wike be decent and humble enough to reverse himself if documents showed it was never sold but concessioned or leased?”

“This is one of the dangers of Wike’s commission that harbours a predetermined outcome in the name of an Inquiry and Amaechi will not subject himself to Wike’s deceit and phony shenanigans. Hotel Olympia was never sold. The hotel was only concessioned (or leased) on the approval of the State Executive Council and not sold,” the statement said.

“Even while inaugurating his yeoman commission of Inquiry, Wike could not conceal his vendetta agenda. He was clear to the panel members that their job is to indict Amaechi.

BusinessTop Access Bank Staff Lands In Big Mess by aproko247(op): 2:03pm On Aug 19, 2015
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has beamed its searchlight on a top employee of Access Bank. According to information gathered by us, Angela Ebagua, wife of billionaire businessman, Jide Omokore of Atlantic Energy Limited, is running helter skelter to save her face from ridicule.

Her husband has been in the news for allegedly looting the tax payers’ money, especially during the immediate past administration of Goodluck Jonathan.

The anti-graft agency believes she must have been part of her husband alleged looter fund, though some of the people close to her say she might be clean.

Her close associate maintain that Angela has a flourishing banking career and has received many awards and commendations in the job.

But others claim there is no way she may not have taken part in her husband’s loot. A source was quoted in one of the reports online that, “She has only acted on instruction given to her by her husband. Her passport being seized by the EFCC is illegal and unlawful, if you have anything with the husband, it’s the hubby that should face the music and not Angela.”

Angela, a former beauty queen, got a B.Sc. Degree in Economics at the University of Benin, an MBA (Marketing) at Enugu State University, and M.Sc. (Investment Management) at Cass Business School of City University, UK.

She is also an alumnus of the Harvard Business School’s Program for Management Development and the Institute for management development (IMD) Lausanne, Switzerland.

PoliticsKwara Residents Groan In Pain by aproko247(op): 4:08pm On Aug 17, 2015
*The Looting Inside Gov Ahmed’s Govt

Reports reaching us from Kwara State seem not to be a very palatable one. As you read this piece, residents of Kwara have resorted to God to save them from the grip of their governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed, who they fear might run the state aground.

According to a report by The Icon, Ahmed has practically turned the state into his private property and residents of the state have to beg God to send a Moses to save them from the hands of Pharaoh.

While most Nigerians quickly put the blame of impoverishing Kwarans on the table of Bukola Saraki, what they are oblivious of is that Ahmed is becoming more dangerous than his benefactor, the magazine reports.

Impeccable sources have confirmed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) allegation that Ahmed truly pays Saraki a whopping sum of N100 million every month from the state’s coffers.

In the statement, the PDP stated, “We have noted the desperate bid of the Kwara State government to cover up for Sen. Bukola Saraki in respect of the millions of naira that he draws monthly from the state’s lean treasury in the name of an obnoxious, immoral and insensitive pension law that he enacted for himself while in office.

This latest cover-up has only succeeded in raising more questions than answers. It has also evidently shown that the government’s spin doctors have exhausted their basket of lies – a thing that has become a routine pastimes in the life of the present APC-led administration in Kwara State.

“Arising from the government’s latest official cover-up for Saraki, we raise the following posers:

“If in truth Mr. Bukola Saraki had not demanded for security operatives since he left office three years ago, why then did the speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Mr. Razaq Atunwa, on Tuesday, 10th September 2013 threaten to sue the IGP for allegedly violating the provisions of Section 2 (3) Paragraph H of the Third Schedule of Kwara State governor and deputy governor (payment of pension) Law 2010 which makes provision for over 10 different security attachés for Bukola Saraki? If the salaries of Bukola Saraki’s retinue of police and SSS security attachés were not being charged on the state meager allocations, why did the Kwara State House of Assembly subsequently pass a resolution describing the alleged withdrawal as ‘unconstitutional, ‘illegal’ and a ‘breach of law’ the legislators validly passed? If the KWSG is denying the assertion of the PDP on the over N100million that Bukola Saraki draws monthly from the public treasury in the name of pension benefit, it is also ready to deny its own speaker who had much earlier admitted that the security operatives are Bukola Saraki’s birthright pursuant to the pension law?

CelebritiesMan Sends Us-born Sons To Nigeria To Experience Hard-life by aproko247(op): 6:43pm On Aug 14, 2015
A Nigerian dad wanting his twin teen sons, accustomed to the comforts of the country club, to learn some gratitude took an unusual step. He sent the 14-year-olds to spend the seventh grade in Nigeria.

The boys, Noble and Evan Nwankwo, spent seventh grade at Mea Mater Elizabeth High School in Enugu, southern Nigeria. There, the day starts with 5 a.m. exercise and prayer, and continues with a 12-subject course load. There’s no help from mom on homework or washing clothes, either.

“Adversity is important in somebody’s development in life, as far as I’m concerned, because there comes a time when the storm is going to hit you, and if you never had that to fall back on you’re just going to fall apart,” Evans Nwankwo, the father, said. “I strongly believe that because it’s been important in my own development.”

Nwankwo was born and raised in Nigeria. He was one of 13 children. The family was well off. Then, the Nigerian Civil War broke out and they were running for safety and scrambling for food, and his father was killed.

He eventually made it to the US and built a business. People around Cincinnati probably know Nwankwo’s work – his construction company is the go-to contractor that has worked on sites including Fountain Square, the Freedom Center and Washington Park.

As the boys were getting ready to go, things in Africa were looking bad. The Ebola outbreak was making headlines, as were attacks by the terrorist group Boko Haram on schools in northern Nigeria.

The elder Nwankwo said he had “a lot of apprehension as they were getting ready to go, a lot of anxiety.”

The boys had other concerns.

“I hope I’m not as lazy as I am now,” Noble said before leaving for Nigeria.

It looks like Noble got his wish. Besides being responsible for their studies, basic necessities like water required work to obtain.

“It was kind of eye-opening to see how much you actually have to work to get a simple bucket of water, and how you actually have to use your own strength to carry it back and forth,” Noble said. “And it’s actually pretty tough to hand-wash your clothes with that amount of water. You have to really manage it.”

“You have to be trekking all over the school just to get water to bathe with… Here you can just turn on the tap and there’ll be water flowing like it’s nothing,” Evan said. “There, you’ll, be struggling for it. Sometimes we would go without water for a couple days.”

Since returning, their dad said he’s already seen a change in his boys.

PoliticsOnly Buhari Is Not Corrupt In APC—PDP by aproko247(op): 6:58am On Jul 29, 2015
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, says it strongly supports President Muhammadu Buhari on his war on corruption. However, the party warned that due process must be followed in fighting the menace in the country.

This was made known in a statement issued on Tuesday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, in Abuja.

Metuh advised the Buhari-led administration not to use his anti-corruption campaign as a “guise to victimize innocent citizens and curtail the freedom of Nigerians.

“Democracy has come to stay in Nigeria and no citizen, irrespective of political, religious or ethnic affiliation should be denied access to due process and the rule of law in the process,”

Furthermore, the party said that, “In the same vein, we want to state categorically that the anti-corruption war, whilst targeted at the immediate past administration should not by any means be blind to the impunity of the present leaders of the country either in terms of borrowing and spending without recourse to the statutory arms and organs of government and dictates of transparency and accountability, or in terms of nepotism in appointments in key institutions such as INEC and the DSS.

PoliticsPDP Becoming Useless—apc by aproko247(op): 12:31am On Jul 27, 2015
The All Progressives Congress, APC, has reacted to the press conference organised by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Sunday in Abuja, where it said the ruling party is losing direction and has become a “bad change”.

PDP’s spokesman, Olisa Metuh, had addressed journalist on Sunday and said President Muhammadu Buhari disgraced Nigeria during his visit to the United States last week.

But in response, the APC National Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed, in a statement issued on Sunday in Lagos, said the opposition party is confused and constituting nuisance.

“Today’s statement is the most tortuous yet by the PDP and, honestly, sounds more like a compendium of beer parlour gossips and side talks than a serious criticism of a sitting government,” the APC said in the statement.

“To be in opposition does not mean you have to constitute yourself to a nuisance by rushing to the press with all sorts of hot air statements. It is the quality, rather than the frequency, of your interventions that makes you relevant as an opposition in a democracy,” the party further said.

During a press conference held on Saturday in Abuja, spokesman of the camp loyal to Speaker of the House, Yakub Dogara, Abdulmumin Jibrin, disclosed that the two gladiators in the crisis, the Speaker and Femi Gbajabiamila, have agreed to embrace peace.

This is coming ahead of the reconvening of the House next Tuesday. It is also coming hours after Gbajabiamila held a closed-door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa.

Speaking at the briefing, Jubrin said Gbajabiamila has agreed to go with the Dogara formula of appointing principal officers of the House.

With this, Hon Alhassan Ado Doguwa (APC Kano, North West) will be the House Leader, Hon Buba Jibrin (APC Kogi, North Central) as Deputy Leader, Hon Pally Iriase (APC Edo, South South) as Chief Whip and Hon Chika Okafor (APC Imo, South East) as Deputy Chief Whip.

He said, “We have commenced collection of signatures which has reached advanced stage to affirm the Dogara formula.

“All other interests, including those excluded from the principal officers, specifically Hon Gbajabiamila and Hon Mongunu will be duly accommodated with commensurate responsibility to serve.

“Since the Speaker has about 200 positions to share out, many members will have the opportunity to serve the country.”

He announced that, “In light of this development, it is heart-warming to announce to you that the disagreement in the House, which many have erroneously labelled as crisis, has finally come to an end.

“We hereby express our deep appreciation to Mr President for his fatherly disposition during this disagreement. We also commend our party for its patience and understanding and re-affirm our continued support for the realisation of its objectives.”

CelebritiesEmeka Ike Gets 2 Weeks To Resolve Troubled Marriage by aproko247(op): 11:37pm On Jul 24, 2015
A request by Abdul’Hakeem Labi-Lawal, defence counsel to Nollywood actor, Emeka Ike, to get six months to settle the differences between the actor and his estranged wife, Suzanne Rero, has been rejected.

Labi-Lawal had asked President of the Lagos Island Customary Court, Awos Awosola, to be given time to settle things amicably, but the court granted him only two weeks. He also said his client could not show up in court because he was ill.

“My client is ill but I will try my best possible to see that he comes on the next adjourned date. We indulge the court to give us six months from this day to see if there is possibility of settlement between the couple,” he told the court.

But Mrs Ike claimed her estranged husband had two years to sort things out but never made any move. She said, “The last time I wanted to speak with our children, it was my mother-in-law who picked the call and asked if I had read Exodus 21 which says that if I go, I shouldn’t return.”

The court granted two weeks to Emeka Ike’s lawyer to explore ways of settling the issues between the estranged husband and wife before the next hearing. The court later adjourned the case till August 12.

Majek said he uses dry gin and marijuana to make his manhood erect, saying he can never use Western medications anymore.

“I’m scared of rehab. Let me tell you what I did to escape the rehab. God gave me different knowledge of orisha, babalawo knowledge. My ancestral knowledge, which is what I’m using right now. I now drink akpeteshie. It’s the orisha idea I got.

PoliticsI Don’t Trust My Memory—buhari by aproko247(op): 9:46am On Jul 23, 2015
Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari, has said he is not too confident of his memory. He made this known during his visit to the United States.

Buhari, while answering questions on Wednesday at the National Democratic Institute, NDI, in Washington DC, acknowledged that he is not too confident about his memory.

When bombarded with questions during a session at the United States Institute of Peace, the President said, “I am not too confident about my memory. Let me answer one question at a time.” This caused laughter among the audience.

During the session, Buhari vowed to deliver on his campaign promises. He said even though he has been described as ‘baba go slow’, he will ensure he achieve success with his slow pace of work.

It would be recalled that during his visit to the US, Buhari mistaken the name of his political party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, for the All Nigeria People’s Congress.

Also, he recently addressed the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel as President and called Germany ‘West Germany’.

Aproko247 has been exclusively informed by a security source in Abuja that the former Chief Security Officer, CSO, to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan, Gordon Obuah, is not dead as being widely speculated in a section of the Nigerian media.

The source informed our correspondent that what actually happened was that Obuah fainted after he embarked on hunger strike to protest his continued detention by the Department of State Security, DSS.

“Obuah is not dead. He only fainted and was rushed to the hospital for medical attention. He is very okay now,” the source, who begged not to be named, told Aproko247.

This magazine further learnt that after Obuah was discharged from the hospital on Monday, he was returned to the DSS custody, where he is currently still being held.

His lawyer and family have described his detention as illegal and have called for his release because of his ‘failing health’.

As at the time of filing in this report, Aproko247 could not confirm from our source if Obuah has been allowed to have access to his family, doctor and lawyer.
