President of the Directors Guild of Nigeria, DGN, Fred Amata, was robbed by some gunmen in Lagos on Friday night, Aproko247 reliably learnt.

It was disclosed that the star actor from the Amata film dynasty was robbed at gunpoint by some hoodlums in front of his house.

According to what Aproko247 gathered, Fred Amata’s metallic grey Lexus 470 SUV with number plate AGL 414 CU was taken from him.

He was thereafter bundled into the vehicle and dropped off on Fadeyi Bridge at about 2:30am after taking his shoes, phones and other personal belongings.

An appeal has gone to members of the general public with useful information as to how to recover the vehicle to report to the nearest police station.

It is no longer news that Lagos socialite, Bimbola Folawiyo, has packed out of her matrimonial home in Apapa, Lagos.

It is also no longer news that her marriage to Lagos big boy, Yomi Folawiyo, has ended and she has already filed for divorce.

It is no longer a rumour. That is the truth. I moved out 2 weeks ago when I saw efforts being made to frustrate me out of my home. My husband moved out months back, leaving me and my daughters. I have to move on. I have suffered enough I gave my husband a lot of time to see if he can come back and I also reached out to him but it was all a futile effort. I left when I saw that I didn’t see him coming back. I had to take my kids and leave.

How did your once happy marriage get to this pitiable state

It’s rather unfortunate that things could end up like this between Yomi and I. He is someone that I really love so much. He is someone that I want the best for. Even though we are not together anymore, I still want the best for him and pray that God will find him someone who will affect him for God and have patience with him. He moved out of the house 5 months ago without a word. But, two days before he left, he told me that he had offended me and I said how.

He said to me that his family called him and sat him down. I asked, your family? And he said Yes. He mentioned names, while he said they told him in a little meeting that they want him to write his Will. I asked him how old he is he that he will be writing a Will. I said what property do you have that you are writing a Will for. Though he usually gets a cheque twice, yearly and his family wanted to know who they would give his annual cheque to if anything happens to him.

He said he was so confused and wanted to write my name and my daughters’ name but the family were against this and they said why are you writing her name instead of the name of his ex and her son. He said he didn’t know what to do and he wrote the name of his ex-wife and her son. I asked if what he did was right. I remembered I told him to forget about me, but how can you have 2 children and you write only one when you ought to have written Ayomide and Mosunmola. He said he didn’t think it through till when he got home. HE SAID HE FELT BAD DOING THIS WHEN HE KNOWS THAT I, Bimbo was the one there for him in sickness when there was nobody.

When he was living in my own house, I didn’t see family members around him. I didn’t know what he did at home but he came to live with me for 10 months. He is been there for me just like I have been there for him as well. Even if I don’t deserve anything I believe that my daughter deserves something from her father. He started crying in the house and I was not the only one there. We had eye witness when he was telling me this. If he denies it I have prove.

I can call on people who served as eye witness. Anything I tell you I have proof. Let him come out of wherever he is because that is what he told me. At that point I said to myself, thank God I am working. It is not the Will that will decide what my daughter will become. I started crying in the middle of the conversation and he was crying as well that he will go back to the office and tell them he didn’t know what came to his mind that he wrote that.

Since then, I saw he was not comfortable around the house anymore. He came back one day and said his friends said why did he tell me such a sensitive issue and there is no woman he can tell that he will be happy. He started getting scared and I told him not to worry and he granted an interview with an on-line platform where he said he ran for his dear life. The only reason why I think Yomi left the house was because I am his saviour and many people run from their saviour so as not to get saved from the enemy. Yomi is someone that I love very much.

Lots of people say that I got married to him because of the money. I don’t understand why people will think like that. I am also from a very rich family. Money is not a problem in the family I come from.All that I achieved today is as a result of my father’s efforts, My mother and my uncle Bujuji Kashamu all assisted me in business.

Yomi can never say that he had assisted me in business. It is whatever he brings home that we manage, as his wife. It is not like he has a company or his own personal house. He works in his father, company. It is not like I have access to anything directly from him. It is not like I can walk into their company and say that I want this. Yomi has lied against me a lot. I don’t know why he is fond of lying. I have always loved my husband but i started getting worried when Yomi will go and take loans from people.

An instance was when he took loan from one Mr Femi Ajayi 3 years ago and he refused to pay back. Mr femi called me when I was in Dubai with my 2 daughters sympathising with me that I lost my daughters. His statement was “Epele Aunty,Emabinu pe mi pe yin , epele ti awon omoyin to ku“(Sorry I leant you lost your daughters).

I was mad and he said Uncle Yomi borrowed money from him stating that we lost our daughters and needed money to buy casket. I told him my daughters are not dead and I will never bury my daughters in Jesus name. He explained further. I got so scared. I was inside the Emirate Mall in Dubai when I received the call. Funny enough, we all came to Dubai with Yomi and I told my first daughter to speak with the Uncle Femi and she spoke to him saying “Hello Uncle“.

Femi was shocked and he said how can somebody lie with his children and I said, you know what, my husband can never tell you that. I told him we were in Dubai together that I will talk to my husband when I get back to the hotel since I was sure he won’t tell him something like that. I was bitter and couldn’t shop again. I met Yomi in the bathroom and told him I want to see him. I asked did he take any loan from Mr Femi Ajayi and he said Yes.

Reports reaching Aproko247 have it that a popular actor in the Yoruba movie industry has passed on.

This is coming barely two weeks after star actress, Henrietta Kosoko, wife of veteran actor, Jide Kosoko, died after she slumped in Lagos.

It was said that the actor, known as Alfa Lateef Itakure, breathed his last on Saturday, June 18, 2018.

According to what was disclosed to our reporter, the deceased died after being ill for two days.

His death has shocked some of his colleagues in the Yoruba film industry, who described him as a peace loving and talented actor.

Alfa Lati, as he was also fondly called, was as well a scriptwriter while he was alive.

The death of talented music producer, OJB Jezreel, has still remained shocking to some people because it was not what expected.

Many had thought he was already fit as before because he did now show any sign of someone looking ill.

In fact, for those very close to him, the late music producer was already planning for his 50th birthday later in June 2016. If that is to take place now, it would be a post-humour birthday celebration.

In this report, Lanre Odukoya of New Telegraph reports the untold details of OJB Jezreel’s death this week.

How He Died

It was learnt reliably that on Monday, June 13, OJB had just played with the kids and wife, Mabel, a.k.a. Mama J till about 10pm before the family went to bed. But by 3am, an excruciating pain had overwhelmed him.

He groaned nearly helplessly but his wife prevailed on him to endure till 6am when they would rush to Gbagada General Hospital, Lagos, one of the best dialysis centres in the city and where he was always treated.

He cried all through the night and when it was about 6am, Mabel’s younger brother had joined the family to drive the couple to the hospital. He was in his boxers and Mabel had to rush to put a shirt on him.

By that time, he could barely mutter anything. But unfortunately, the doctors’ industrial strike had begun on Monday, June 13, so he would be unable to get anyone to attend to his emergency case.

But Mabel had reached out to another doctor in Isolo. Right there in the Infini SUV (one of the automobiles he gave her) which moved towards Isolo, Mabel screamed into his ears, “you’re behaving as if you don’t want to return home with me.

And you know the kids know that I would always bring you back home after treatment. If you don’t come back with me, what would I tell them?” His body was frail and heavy as he leaned on her. He couldn’t answer.

Alas, Mabel noticed his weight had changed. He had become heavier. Before they could get to the hospital, he gave up the ghost. As at when he died, he had emptied his bank account paying for dialysis which cost N35,000 daily and technically, he died broke.

Four of the major coastal tribes of Western Africa: the Yoruba, Igbo, Akan and the Gaa-Adangbe are dissimilar at a glance and evidently geographic neighbours, but very closely related, if examined in detail at the genetic level.

Several studies have been employed over the years, with findings bringing up linkages of genetic similarity between differing regional ethnic groups. One in particular, conducted by Adebowale Adeyemo, Guanjie Chen, Yuanxiu Chen, the National Human Genome Centre and Howard University, and Charles Rotimi of the University of Ibadan provided results indicating the genetic similarities between the four major West African ethnic groups.

Their findings further indicated surprising genetic variance within groups, but almost none across groups, similar to the closeness of human genetics across races, showing more range within than without.

According to this landmark study there was 99.9 percent within-population variance, the between-population variance was less than 0.1 percent.

This means that Yorubas, Igbos, Gaa and Akan are 99.9 percent similar, while within each of the groups there are variations/differences between individuals as high as 99 percent i.e. One Igbo may be 99 percent genetically different from another Igbo, or one Yoruba person to another.

It is important to remember that these groups were not initially split by national borders; prior to the European division of the continent, these ethnic peoples traded, migrated and wedded as the times permitted, allowing apparent regional and national mixtures that remain evident in modern day genetic analyses of some Yoruba and Igbo individuals.

Race and ethnicity are considered to be related concepts. Ethnicity is often assumed to be somewhat more of a cultural identity of a group, often based on shared ancestry, language and cultural tradition, while race is assumed to be strictly a biological classification, based on genetic materials and bone structure.

Ethnicity is often used synonymously with ambiguous terms such as nation or people, depending on which source of group identity is emphasized to define membership, the following types of (often mutually overlapping) groups are:

Ethno-linguistic, emphasizing shared language, dialect or script — example: Hausa.

**Caretaker C’ttee Takes Over Guild

Just when many thought the crisis rocking the Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN, was almost getting over, the latest development seems to show otherwise.

On Thursday, June 9, 2016, a meeting of Chairmen of state chapters of the guild led by Agility Onwurah and stakeholders was held at the Upcountry Hotel in Akwa, Anambra State, with a view to finding a lasting solution to crisis in the actor’s body.

At the meeting attended by several notable names in the movie industry in Nigeria, a caretaker committee was set up to take over the affairs of the guild.

According to what Aproko247 gathered, the Akwa meeting was also organised to discuss Emeka Ike, who has often paraded himself as President of AGN relying on a court judgement of March 25 that ordered status quo be maintained, though the ruling has reportedly been appealed.

The provisions of the judgment were extensively deliberated upon by all taking special cognizance of the paragraph four which states that the 1st and 2nd defendant should surrender all paraphernalia of their offices to the guild.

At the end of plenary and after meticulous deliberation of issues in the subsisting structure, the entire house condemned all forms of crisis, animosity and unwholesome attitude towards the growth of the association.

They called on all the aggrieved members to sheet their swords and work towards the national unity of the guild and urged the parties involved to recognize and respect each other’s right of self determination in the pursuit of a better and stronger association as it relates the election of their executives without fear or favour.

At the meeting, Steve Eboh was appointed as Chairman of the 11-man caretaker committee and they were mandated to take up the leadership of the guild, retrieve all relevant documents, properties and or/materials belonging to the guild in line with paragraph four of the court judgment.

Also, they were told to provide good platform for reconciliation of aggrieved members and ensure peace and reach out to sister guilds for good alliance, conduct a credible election into national offices.

The committee was given three months to carry out the activities.

Other members of the committee are Hakeem Rhaman (Vice Chairman), Renell Badejo (Secretary),

Bob Emmanuel Udokwu (Adviser), Ochendo Mc Smith (PRO), Rita Tony Edochie, Ernest Obi, Vitalis Ndubisi, Zenith Abubarka, Rita Daniels and Edith Irabor.

But Chairman of AGN Board of Trustees, BoT, Prince Ifeanyi Dikeh, when contacted by Aproko247 on Friday on the issue, said the BoT is not in approval of the resolutions reached at the said meeting.

According to him, Ibinabo Fiberesima is still the President of AGN.

He told Aproko247 that though he was aware of the said meeting, but the resolutions reached were never presented to the Board for ratification as he would have expected.

Ifeanyi Dikeh pointed out that according to the guild’s constitution, stakeholders cannot remove elected officials of AGN, let alone the President.

Meanwhile, efforts by Aproko247 to speak with Emeka Ike on the issue were unsuccessful as his phone number known to us was not going through when we tried calling.

A while ago, we reported that protesters in support Ali Modu Sheriff and Ahmed Makarfi, the two men claiming to be in charge of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, stormed the party’s national headquarters in Abuja.

Leader of the Oodua Peoples Congress, OPC, Otunba Gani Adams, has disclosed that there are over 250 million Yorubas living outside the shores of Nigeria.

Adams made this revelation during the launch of the Oodua Progressive Union, OPU, in Uganda recently.

The OPC leader, during his speech, explained that the OPU is a universal platform that seeks to unite Yorubas spread across the globe under one umbrella.

According to him, the OPU has the mission and mandate to bring together all “Yorubas in diaspora to come under one common identity to further project our race, our culture, tradition and seek to proffer solutions to various challenges confronting us as a race.”

“It will interest you to know that the number of Yorubas living in Nigeria is about 50 million while it was gathered that Yorubas spread across the globe outside Nigeria is well over 250 million,” he said.

“The simple logic here is that while the Yorubas at home are divided based on religious and political interests, those of you abroad can influence those at home by coming together under a global platform to set the agenda for a progressive Yoruba race with a common goal and mission.

“Top and world acclaimed races like the Jews, Arabs, Indians, Isrealis, Chinesse, among others have history of common identity brought together by their indigenes who are based outside their race. If history can be fair on these now seen great tribes, the time has come for a united Yoruba race brought together by a common heritage, identity and mission.

“As we launch the OPU chapter of Uganda today, I implore you all to be worthy ambassadors of Nigeria and Yoruba in Uganda,it will be nice for you to grow with the growing economy of Uganda, tap into the tourist potentials of the country and most importantly, be law abiding citizens.

“One of the exceptional way to show gratitude to your host community is to identify with what they believe, don’t fault their way of life, don’t mock their culture and above all respect their warm reception towards you without losing track of your own culture and tradition including your language.

“The peaceful co-existence between Yorubas and other tribes will further boost their attitude towards Nigerians, we really need to love one another and while embracing love, we should not cover criminals in our midst that may tarnish our race and indeed our country.

“It is very pleasing to hear that the Government of Uganda is very accommodating towards Nigerians in Uganda based on the long standing relationship and support established by a prominent Yoruba son, late MKO Abiola whose anniversary our sister body Oodua Peoples Congress will be remembering with a lecture on June 12, 2016. We should do everything between our power to protect this relationship and make sure we further build on it based on our Omoluwabi and Alajobi principles.

Another prominent speaker at the event was the President of the Nigeria Community in Uganda, Eng. Kunle Aransiola, who expressed his joy to have been part of history considering his critical nature.

He stated that the mission statement of OPU shows that the body has a vision and with the exemplary leadership quality of Otunba Adams, he is convinced that the association will further boost the morale and rating of Yorubas across the globe.

The Zaaki of Arigidi-Akoko, HRM, Oba Yisa Olanipekun appealed to Yorubas to support the OPU mission and come together as one to further unite the race.

Aproko247 has been reliably informed that popular music producer, OJB Jezreel, is dead.

A close source to the producer turned singer disclosed to our reporter that OJB breathed his last on Tuesday morning.

According to information scooped by Aproko247, OJB had a relapse about two weeks ago and was rushed to the hospital.

It was said that his family had to keep him on N35,000 dialysis before he was placed on oxygen on Monday, June 13, 2016.
He was said to have lost the battle on Tuesday at about some minutes past 9am.

Few years ago, OJB Jezreel had a kidney treatment in India. His friend, Nomoreloss, who raised funds for his treatment then, died early 2016.

A petition filed by James Faleke against the governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, at the state’s election tribunal, has been thrown out.

While delivering the judgment on Monday, June 6, 2016, the tribunal held that Falake has no locus stand to file any petition against the election of Bello as governor and therefore dismissed his suit.

It would be recalled that Faleke was the running mate of the initial candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the Kogi guber poll, Abubakar Audu, who died shortly after the election was declared inconclusive by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

During the rerun, the APC fielded Bello as its candidate, which Faleke kicked against. He argued that as the running mate to the late Audu, he should have been the perfect replacement and not Bello.

The immediate past governor of Abia State, Theodore Orji, has informed the Nigerian Senate on the need to register the Institute of Chartered Politicians.
The former governor, who is now a member of the upper chamber of the National Assembly, made this known on Tuesday, May 31, 2016, on the floor of the Senate.
Orji, while speaking at the red chamber, informed his colleagues it was time bring the bill to register the Institute of Chartered Politicians.
The former governor was contributing to a bill moved by Senator Barnabas Gemade from Benue for an Act to establish the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants of Nigeria Bill, which was seconded by Senator Bala Na'Allah.
The Bill is to provide for the control of members of the institute and to promote and foster the practice of the Arts and Science of Management Accountancy in the Federation.
The Bill, which has been before the National Assembly for the past 16 years, passed the second reading and then referred to the Senate Committee on Establishment and Public Service for further legislative action.

Following threats to the life of star actress, Toyin Aimakhu and her eventual report to the Lagos Command of the Nigeria Police, Nigerian film marketer, Seun Egbegbe, has been placed under close watch by the security agency.

Toyin had reported to the police about threats to her life by her embittered former lover, and the man was consequently arrested, but later released on bail.

After he was let go, Toyin travelled abroad and the Ebony Films boss was told to report to the police immediately the actress returns from her trip.

Both Toyin and Seun were at the office of the Lagos Police Commissioner, Fatai Owoseni, on Monday and he was made to sign an undertaken never to disturb the lady again.

Toyin who was also at the station in company of her lawyer, Bosun Osifowora, stated that Seun Egbegbe's threat has affected her business and colleagues and producers are afraid to call her for movie shoots because of the threat since they were aware of his violent nature.

While at the Commissioner of Police’ office, Seun reportedly recounted his position, prostrated and signed an undertaking never to hurt or disturb Toyin whether privately or in company of people.

He also undertook to make a new video to that effect with Goldmyne TV where the initial threat video which went viral was broadcast.

He is also to report fortnightly at the CP's office in Ikeja and he has been placed under watch.

Toyin Aimakhu who is back in the country is set to officially start a new reality show and an NGO on domestic violence against women.

Our reporter gathered that Elder Maya, who is arguably the longest surviving Nigerian actor, is down with a liver-related problem.

***Describes Buhari’s Govt As Anti-People

Ogun State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has vehemently condemned the increase in price of Premium Motor Spirit from N86 to N145 per litre as announced by the Federal Government on Wednesday, May 11, 2016.

The party, in a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Malik Ibitoye, and made available to newsmen on Thursday, stated that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government is anti-people and undemocratic.

According to the statement, “the Federal Government of Nigeria under President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has once again demonstrated its hatred for the Nigerian masses and the downtrodden people of Nigeria.

“Just a few weeks to the celebration of its first anniversary in office, the Buhari-led government officially increased pump price of Premium Motor Spirit from N86 to N145 to the chagrin of millions of Nigeria.

“It must be noted that the APC-led government has constantly displayed its arbitrariness with the brazen manner it has been churning out anti-people policies one of which is this latest onslaught on the people.”

The party stressed that the fuel price increment is arbitrary, anti-people, anti-democratic, retrogressive, adding that it must be condemned by all right thinking persons, regardless of party affiliation.

It was emphasised in the statement that “it is unthinkable that Buhari’s government would ever thought of foisting increase in fuel pump price on Nigerians, who have been made to go through months of fuel scarcity and hyper-inflation in the last couple of months.”

To this end, the Ogun State PDP said that they were not surprised “by what is being revealed daily by the government that promised to change the life of the people for the better, it only confirms what we said repeatedly before, during and after the last general elections in the country.”

The party accused the Federal Government, under President Buhari, of succumbing ‘so cheaply to the pressure from the oil magnates in the country.’

They added that they were beginning to doubt the ability of President Muhammadu Buhari to rescue Nigeria from the doldrums because, according to them, the president has added more insult upon injury for Nigerians in a country where there is no electricity, no job, and no security.

“Our fears are that it would not stop at that as petrol price may go beyond N200 per litre in the next few months because we could see the marketers jubilating that they have won the battle,” they said in the statement.

They said further: “We want to agree with the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) that said in a statement that “the unilateral increase in prices of petroleum products today by government represents the height of insensitivity and impunity and shall be resisted by the NLC and its civil society allies.”

“It added that with “the unjustifiable electricity tariff and other economic challenges brought on by the devaluation of the naira and inflation, the least one had expected was another policy measure that would make life miserable for the ordinary Nigerian.”

The party revealed that they were not surprised with what the APC-led Government has done, but that “we only pray that Nigerians would not be further pushed to the precipice as it appears that we have indeed boarded a one chance bus with this apparently insensitive government.”

On Tuesday, May 3, 2016, members of the Edo State House of Assembly, EDHA, impeached their Speaker, Victor Eboror.

It was not clear why the man was removed from office, but close watchers of political happenings in the state said they saw it coming and were not surprised that the lawmaker was sacked from the exalted position.

Also impeached by the Assembly was Eboror’s deputy, Festus Ebea.

After both legislators were booted out of office, a longstanding member of the Assembly, Elizabeth Ativie, was elected as Speaker.

The lawmaker represents Uhunmwode Constituency in the Edo State House of Assembly and she is loved by her people and colleagues as well.

Ativie is known in her constituency to have influenced and completed various laudable projects especially in Oke, Orhua, Irhue, Idummwui ugha and Izikhiri.

She has once served as Chairman, House Committee on Women Affairs and Social Development, a position she used to bring development and uplift women in Edo State.

Our source in Edo State disclosed to us that the Deputy Speaker of the Assembly, Festus Ebea, was also impeached.

It was learnt that both members of the hollowed chamber were impeached on Tuesday.

It is however not clear why the Speaker and his Deputy were removed from office by the Assembly, which has been in crisis recently.

Also, the Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has been battling with issues in recent times.

The state governor, Adams Oshiomhole has been at loggerheads with his deputy.

**Apologises To LMC For Violent Conduct

Proprietor of Ifeanyi Ubah FC, Ifeanyi Ubah, has apologised to the League Management Company, LMC, over his conduct at the end of a match between his club and Heartland FC of Owerri, Imo State.

The oil and gas baron was caught on camera slapping goalkeeper of Heartland FC, Ebele Obi, who is a brother to Super Eagles captain, John Mikel Obi.

Following the video evidence, the LMC wielded its stick on Ubah and fined him N2.5 million with an additional 10-match ban. He was also asked to tender an unreserved apology for his conduct and promise to be a good ambassador of the Nigerian league.

The LMC says it has received the acceptance notices and apologies from all concerned parties, including other clubs sanctioned by it for various offences; Sunshine Stars and Plateau United, who pledge to be of good conducts.

In the letter written to accept to submit to the summary jurisdiction of the LMC and April 2, 2016, and addressed to LMC Chief Operating Officer, Ubah explained that his actions were due to his overriding passion for the NPFL and its development.

He explained in the letter that he was moved to intervene by the actions of Heartland players towards the referee after the match in Nnewi.

“May I conclude by rendering my unconditional apology to my numerous fans nationwide and in Diaspora for the incident and outcome. To the football family and the LMC, I promise to uphold the tenets of the game while promising to remain a good ambassador of the sport.

“To those who feel disappointed by the outcome, I plead that you find a place in your hearts to forgive me. With a deep sense of humility, I ask Nigerians for their support and encouragement as I wish to state categorically that this will never repeat itself again as dire lessons have been learnt,” he wrote in the letter.

Chairman of the LMC, Shehu Dikko, says the sanctions were never meant to be punitive, but correctional.

He remarked that they were meant “to uphold the sanctity of the rules of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) and to assure all stakeholders of fairness in the application of all laid down regulations.”
