Wike pledges N5m monthly FFS for fire trucks maintenance

Port Harcourt, Aug. 12, 2021 (NAN) Gov. Nyesom Wike of Rivers has pledged N5 million monthly to the Federal Fire Service for the maintenance of firefighting trucks in the state.
He made the promise during the commissioning of one modern firefighting truck, Basic Life Support Ambulance (BLS) and one water tanker on Thursday in Port Harcourt.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola had approved the deployment of newly acquired firefighting trucks to Federal Fire Services (FFS) in states to complement efforts of states firemen.
The Governor said that the monthly donation was also to buy consumables to ensure the sustenance and smooth running of the newly commissioned trucks.

“ We will give N5m monthly and it is not to be shared among yourselves.
“It is for use to make sure the vehicles are maintained.
“Our money is not to service other states but to service the people of this state.
“Whatever we give for the service of the vehicles, use it here.
“Once there is a fire outbreak and we hear there are no consumables, we will stop the funding and return the vehicles to where it came from,” he said.

He expressed concerns over the safety of lives and property as he pleaded for the trucks to be judiciously utilised for the interest of residents in the state.
Wike also stated that the state government was ready to equip the state fire service with two utility vehicles but he was unable to comment on the inclusion of the fire service in the state security council.

He however, said that he was concerned about the maintenance of the vehicles by those in charge of ensuring it’s proper utilisation.
“ The problem we have now is that will those who ought to manage this trucks and vehicles carry it out for the benefit of the people.
“ There might be situations of outbreaks and the equipment might not be around because it might have been hired rather than used for the interest of members of the public,” he said.
He commended Dr Ibrahim Liman, Controller General, FFS for the equal distribution of the modern trucks to states in the country.
Wike said “Thank you for not playing politics but doing the right thing and not relying on belonging to the same party before carrying out what’s right.”

The FFS boss assured the state government of his commitment to monitor the federal and state fire services in the state and make sure the promised monthly funds were utilised.
“ The consumables which includes: chemicals, diesel and auxiliary equipments are very expensive so we appreciate the gesture of the Governor.
Liman said the Minister of Interior has promised to deploy more fire trucks on or before the end of 2021.

He said that the deployment of the trucks was to improve firefighting and enhance service delivery in the state and country at large.
The CG on behalf of the state fire service had earlier requested for the allocation of two utility vehicles, recruitment, sponsorship of personnel on trainings and inclusion of the service in the state security council.

GUBER 2021: Anambra's Resources, Wealth, Safe With Maduka

Anambra State is hugely endowed with enormous resources.

Onitsha in Anambra State and Nnewi are among the commercial nerve centres of Southern Nigeria.
The same commerce is also the propelling factor that drives the economy of the State, adjudged one of the largest economies in West Africa sub region.

There is a high volume of commercial activities and trade in the State, which has in turn engaged over 11 million people around the south east.

Anambra 2021: Maduka Continues Guber Bid With Renewed Vigor As He Flies Accord


As the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, publish the list of governorship candidates for the November 6, Anambra State governorship election, is has been confirmed that renowned medical practitioner, Dr. Godwin Maduka, may be on the ballot.

Maduka had sought for the governorship ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

He did not emerge candidate of the party, because the party leadership resorted to the use of Super delegates, to choose it's flagbearer, an act which has led to polarisation of the party.

Over 3,000 ad/statutory delegates of the party, majority of whom had preferred Maduka as their choice candidate, were disenfranchised severally, even on the eve of the party primary election.

Two governorship candidates- Valentine Ozigbo and Ugochukwu Uba, are all laying claims to the governorship ticket of the PDP, a development which has made the party not only a laughing stock, but badly bruised ahead of the governorship election.

Maduka has been under intense pressure to leave the PDP besieged by intra party squabbles and pursue his governorship ambition on the platform of ACCORD political party.

He has been besieged by concerned citizens of the State, both at home and abroad, political, social and religious groups, to continue his run to Agu Awka, on the basis that he posses the magic wand to change the fortunes of the good people of Anambra State.

Maduka has received global recognition and accolade for his tremendous achievements in the field of global medicine, and for turning his native homeland- Umuchukwu-from a rusty community to a modern city with all the trappings of modernity.

Maduka had built schools, courts, hospitals, police/security formations, roads, hotels, and several infrastructure, including the largest medical research facility in West Africa, an act which signpost his capacity to turn Anambra to a modern State, if elected governor.

Analysts of the guber election in the State, contend that Anambra State is in dire need of a realist as governor and Maduka, has been adjudged to fit into this description.

It is not in doubt that by the time her tenure ends, the polytechnic would have metamorphosed to an undisputable center of excellence. On assumption of office, about 62 programmes already lacked accreditation and were on the verge of collapsing. By that singular action, the academic standard of the institution was raised, giving the students quality learning, hope of graduation in record time, ability to participate in the national youth service scheme and a vista of opportunities. To her credit, new projects are springing up in the school even while trying to complete projects started by the past administration and these she has done without noise.

Engr.Dr. Nwafulugo has made tremendous success out of engineering, enriching the life of man and inspiring the younger generation to reach out for the stars. She prides as one of the most successful female engineers in the academia in the country and for more than 30 years has contributed to her field immensely. She is a specialist on environment and an international consultant on water treatment and monitoring. She led an Independent team on Water monitoring Project for Green Development. “PoA for the reduction of emission from non-renewable fuel from cooking at household level, United Nations Frame work Convention on climate change (UNFCCC). She was also the chairperson of Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN) Kaduna Chapter. Engr. Nwafulugo has received several awards and recognition from several organizations and bodies. Some of the awards are Pan African Prize for Excellence by the African Student Union Parliament, the prestigious Thomas Sankara Integrity Award by the ECOWAS Youth Council, and Award of recognition by the Nigeria Association of Technologists in Engineering. She is a Fellow of the following professional bodies: Nigerian Society of Engineers, Institute of Oil and Gas Research and Hydrocarbon Studies, Institute of Entrepreneurs, Institute of Policy Management Development, Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria, Institute of Management Consultants. Anambra 2021: 'Accord, The Only Alternative Party For Ndi Anambra' - Guber Candidate, Alexreports

As the November 6, governorship election in Anambra State draws near, the Accord has been described as the only viable alternative for the people of the State.

UN Rescue Service Affirms Legitimacy Of Ambassadorial Recognition On Actress Tonto Dikeh, Others

The recent alleged illegitimacy of the United Nations Ambassadorial Honour on famous Nollywood Actress Tonto Dikeh and others have been confirmed to be legal and in-line with the constitutional provisions of UN-ECOSOC. This was ascertained in a statement released by the Africa Director for Foreign Affairs of the United Nations Economic and Social Council-Special Advisory Council Social Development Committee, H.E Ambassador Steve Madilah.

He further noted that the United Nations Rescue Mission is an arm of UN-ECOSOC, shouldered with the responsibility of eradicating poverty in Nigeria, thereby assisting government to make more impacts on citizens. He however stated emphatically that the United Nations Noble Ambassador Awards is well recognised by United Nations, stressing that as one of the Executive Directors, he has the Mandate of UN to honour or recognise any institution or individual who merits such awards.

According to Amb.
