Most people don't know that IBB and OBJ would rather die than see Buhari as the president of this country. Moreover, Dangote is another serious opposition to Buhari's presidential ambition due to the fact that Buhari vowed to use half of Dangote's wealth to build roads in the North when he wins.

The Second Round Of Goodluck Vs Buhari: A Source Of Apprehension By Dr Ahmad Gumi

Nigeria is in such a deplorably inflamed state of insecurity and mutual mistrust between different segments of the society that doesn’t require another dirty second round of GOODLUCK vs BUHARI.

by Sheikh Ahmad GumiOct 18, 2014

Nigeria is in such a deplorably inflamed state of insecurity and mutual mistrust between different segments of the society that doesn’t require another dirty second round of GOODLUCK vs BUHARI. In fact that will cause another severe 'political anaphylaxis' that can lead to shock and ultimate death of the nation we all aspire to live in... peace with. Sheikh Gumi

Before you start gasping for air in shock or disappointment - the usual reaction from fanatical followers of men and not reason- let me categorically say I am not a fan of any politician nor am I partisan. I know politicians have double personalities. The public image and the true one. My interest is that the nation should heal and my Islam should have it’s proper place in the fabric of its adherents not being framed, maligned or misrepresented.

Neither Goodluck nor Buhari solicited for my views or counsel before showing their ambition to contest for the presidency this time. Each has his own political advisers and praise singers from across the nation. This puts me at the same length from the two, obliging me to do what I believe is right. I feel it is time we blow the referee’s whistle to end the fight before it starts.

Let us be frank with ourselves, GOODLUCK VS BUHARI is going to be a war of two extreme poles. This polarized situation is what should be avoided at all cost. Whether Goodluck likes to hear it or not, he is seen by most Muslim masses in Nigeria as the most pro-Christian president. The CAN and the wealthy jet trotting pastors the nation is shocked with have never had it better. This has tainted PDP as a CAN party. For that most Christians will still vote for Jonathan despite the deplorable state of the nation and gross misgovernance from share recklessness and incapacity. He is still better to them than Buhari.

On the other hand, Buhari’s popularity surged to messianic peak among the ordinary northern Muslims not because of his incorruptible ascetic-like qualities but the day he debunked the Atiku’s ‘back to status quo’ declaration during the heated Sharia and Anti-Sharia debacle of Zamfara’s Sharia reintroduction. This same reason, Christians are still not comfortable with him.

My fear here is that what Buhari did was the right thing and should never regret it even if it cost him his presidency. That is his most pleasurable achievement to Allah for standing against for his own faith being tarnished and politicized. The moment he stands for the presidency he has two options, lose the Christian votes or dilute his Islamic credentials by going extra miles to prove he is not an islamist which they all know he is not.

Buhari’s candidature will unite the Christians against him and Goodluck’s candidature will unite the Muslims against him. This is the time bomb that will only probably benefit Good luck. He either continue to force his way or disintegrate the country. A win-win situation for him and his Niger Delta kinsmen.

In his four years, from day one, Goodluck knew that for him to have any chance is to use the religious and regional card. Framing northern politicians for the 2010 first Abuja MEND bombings. The government sponsored SNC which later metamorphosed to National Conference in a bid to change the constitution back door, allowing him for a third term. The other option is to create an artificial war using the security outfits he has commandeered with his kinsmen so that at least the constitutional provision of cancelling elections will give him another two good years to finish up his clandestine plans he has for northern Nigeria.

Even if Goodluck will be declared the winner, its unlikely the supreme court will not overturn his ‘victory’ as being sworn the third time which is a clear breach of the constitution. On this straw of hope which he knows and the northern politicians that are silently crawling behind him also want to make a ladder to the presidency.

Its only now the PDP and APC as political parties that can salvage Nigeria. The PDP should field any candidate other than Goodluck. His luck has expired. The APC should field any other candidate other than Buhari. His time has expired. The natural thing to do when there is an allergic reaction is to avoid the allergens. Good luck is an allergen to Northern Muslims and Buhari is an allergen to Christians. Can’t we be treated with non-allergens? PDP and APC please think twice!

Finally what disqualifies the two is their recalcitrance. It’s a popular view that nobody can approach them with what they don't want to hear. The 18 page open letter by a political mentor confirms it. I heard reliably through the grapevines Goodluck saying: ‘people think he is 'mumu', he will give out power to another person’. He has forgotten only great leaders do that for peace, stability and tranquility. He is definitely not one, and that is what further disqualifies him. Buhari also cannot be advised. That is legendary. He believes in himself only. So if before ascending to power, he is unapproachable, when he gets power he will just turn into another Pharaoh as nobody has the monopoly of wisdom and no man is indispensable.
If the two, will mutually step down for completely different people, then please spread the good tidings for a peaceful Nigeria. Otherwise we pray for God’s indulgence.

May Allah decree what is good for us. Amin.

Amechi had the chance to be the best governor in this country but he chose to fight GEJ instead of working for his people.
Even when governors elected on the platform of opposition parties like former governor Obi of Anambra were making serious efforts to be at peace with Abuja, Amechi, out of sheer envy, formed alliances with Buhari, Kwankwaso, El Rufai and others who are die-hard enemies of GEJ, forgetting that these characters will never ever attract federal projects or increase the monthly allocation to Rivers State.
Now, at the twilight of his administration, he suddenly realizes that he can't eat his cake and have it.
Am only sorry for the people of Rivers State who bear the brunt because surely, Amechi will disappear to an unknown foreign country shortly before 2015 elections.

Politics › Boko Haram Fighters Today Killed At Least 70 Soldiers In A Fierce Battle Between by arabbunkum(op): 7:41pm On Oct 06, 2014
Boko Haram fighters today killed at least 70 soldiers in a fierce battle between insurgents and Nigerian troops for control of the towns of Bazza and Vimtim in Adamawa State. Vimtim is thehometown of Nigeria’s Chief of Defense Staff, Alex Badeh. In the battle, which is ongoing at the time of this report, Nigerian troops have killed more than300 Islamist militants.

Nigerian soldiers A soldier who escaped from the fierce battle told SaharaReporters that the heavily armed Boko Haram militants used three helicopters to reinforce their ground attacks against Nigerian troops. The source said Nigerian soldiers fought gallantly and were able to stop the insurgents from capturing Vimtim. He added, however, that Nigerian troops had lost at least eight brand new Armored Personnel Carriers in the battle.

SaharaReporters is still seeking updates from Nigerian military sources in the battlefront.

In the past five weeks, Nigerian soldiers have maintained a consistent edge over Islamist insurgents operating in Nigeria’s northeast zone. The army has killed some high-level commanders as well as hundreds of their foot soldiers, captured numerous vehicles and tanks, and repelled a series of attempts by Boko Haram fighters to seize new territories.

I'm just sorry for people like this guy who posted this story.
If Ugwuanyi is that popular as you and your governor would want us to believe, why not provide a level playing ground for him and other qualified candidates to battle it out at the primaries? Why not allow the aspirants to sale themselves to the electorates?
Be reminded that Ugwuanyi has spent 12 solid years at the House of Representatives but has never contributed to deliberations at the floor of the House. We all know that you and your governor are just looking for someone who will share the money rather than work for Enugu people.
Senator Eze must be a courageous man to be able to challenge your governor and his prearranged consensus candidate.

Nigerian politicians criminals, greedy – Arthur Eze 1
By Our ReporteronOctober 5, 2014· Politics
Geoffrey Anyanwu, Awka and Alloy Attah,Onitsha
Billionaire businessman, Prince Arthur Eze yesterday berated Nigerian politicians, calling them criminals and greedy human beings.
Eze’s bombshell came just as Nigeria’s First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, said that the Nigerian nation would not achieve its desired development without peace and love.
Speaking at the South- East Widows Empowerment Programme organized by 4J-2015 For Jonathan, held at the Alex Ekwueme Square Awka, Prince Eze who is the founder of 4J and convener of the programme, which was in conjunction with Dame Jonathan’s Women for Change and Development Initiative, said most Nigerian politicians do not care about the plight of the populace, especially the less privileged and widows.
He said, “I am happy that this thing is happening while I am still alive. It is Dame Jonathan that asked to gather together all of you widows in the South East who have been suffering since the defunct Biafran Republic and civil war in Nigeria. She is concerned about your sufferings and has promised to assist you with empowerment items. She has also promised to build industries for you, where you will work and earn a living. I am doing this because our politicians do not care, they are criminals, and they are greedy. But President Jonathan is not like that, he is humane and listens to the cries of poor Nigerians and has been working hard to ameliorate their sufferings. With what our Mama Peace is helping us to do, your tears will be wiped away.”
He noted that President Jonathan was being pursued all about for no just cause, adding that Boko Haram was also fighting him because of the Igbo, but assured the President that Ndigbo are solidly behind him and would give him 100 per cent votes.
In her speech, Dame Jonathan emphasized the need for Nigerians to love themselves and to give peace a chance, stressing that all the development people crave for would not be achieved in the midst of violence.
She dwelled more on the need to show love to widows and their children, urging those who still engage in practices that are harmful to widows and children to desist from such, especially women who usually accused their brothers’ wives of killing their husbands.
She said: “If you see a widow, show her love, care for her and her children and do not add to her pains. Love yourselves and share what you have with others. Umuada should stop traditions that maltreat widows and be peacemakers. Women, let us show ourselves love.”

Jonathan places designer of national flag on lifetime salary

President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday placed Mr Taiwo Akinkunmi, designer of the National Flag, on lifetime salary as Special Assistant to the President.
Pa Michael Taiwo Akinkunmi would be remembered as a national icon who designed Nigerian flag in 1959 when he was barely 23. Early years and education'He was born in May 1936 in Ibadan, Oyo State in the then Western Region to the family of the late Pa Akinkunmi. Akinkunmi began his early education in the North. After he finished from Baptist Day School Idi-kan in 1949, he proceeded to Ibadan Grammar School (IGS) in 1950. IGS.He later left IGS in 1955 to chart a career path for himself. He took appointment as an agriculturist at the Western Region Secretariat in Ibadan as a civil servant.

Foreign Affairs › Boko Haram: Russia To Supply Arms To Nigeria by arabbunkum(op): 10:15am On Sep 28, 2014
The Federal Government has formally reached out to Russia for assistance in its fight against terrorism in parts of the country.
Based on the government’s request, Russian authorities have offered to assist the nation’s security forces in terms of logistics and equipment to win the war against Boko Haram.
Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, disclosed this in an exclusive interview withSUNDAY PUNCHon Friday.
He was answering questions on whether the government will comply
with Russia’s condition for military assistance to the country, which is that Nigeria should make a formal request.
Abati said the issue had been properly dealt with during the just-concluded 69th session of the United Nations General Assembly which President Goodluck Jonathan attended in New York.
He said the security challenges in the country were one of the issues discussed when the foreign ministers of the two countries met on the margins of the assembly.
He said one of the fallouts of the
meeting was a pronouncement by the Russian Foreign Affairs Minister that his country was ready and prepared to provide logistics and equipment support to the Nigerian Armed Forces and security agencies.
He said, “Nigeria and Russia had a strong relationship in the past. Both countries have a joint commission under the auspices of which they cooperate in various areas.
“When the President went for the 69th session of the United Nations General Assembly, the Nigerian Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Russian minister met on the margins of that assembly.

“One of the issues they discussed was the security challenge in Nigeria. The Russian Foreign Minister told our own Minister of Foreign Affairs that Russia was ready and prepared to provide logistical and equipment support to the Nigerian Armed Forces and security agencies in executing the war against terrorism in Nigeria.
“What I have told you is the latest action in that regard. The assurance was given by the Russian Foreign Minister. What I told you was the outcome of the meeting between the two top government officials of the two countries.”
